Very disappointed, 1 step forward 10 back, GFX are great, action and stealth are sub-par at best, and wow the story? did they fire the whole writing department?

No way this game is worth all the 10/10 media reviews not going to be trusting them again any time soon.

Beautifully made game. Leaves enough food for thought. Not for opinionated gamers for sure. Go play spidey or minecraft or another generic souls game. This one is a true gem.

I enjoyed a single playthrough of the first game, it was short sweet and to the point. This game is not. The story is frustrating, upsetting, and unfullfilling. I found myself turning it off out of frustration more than anything. The Gameplay feels almost tacked on to the story, its ok to be frank, I didn't enjoy most combat sections. The real upside is the graphics, the game looks great.I enjoyed a single playthrough of the first game, it was short sweet and to the point. This game is not. This is a good example of how you ruin a good franchise. Most of the buildings are boarded up and it pushes you down a very set path. The story is horrible and full of virtue signaling nonsense.

Great looking game and the game play mechanics are lifted from the first game with a few additions added which for me was fine as I thought the first game played well. I think seeing their perspective was supposed to make me feel for them but I honestly just spent the second half of the game wanting them dead. The ending felt daft too, like a big waste. Its not a 0 by any means but its not a 10 either. Also yes there is a bit of £representation" in the game but it doesn't really beat you over the head with it, much like the first game didn't (in fact there were a fair few people who didn't even realize it was in the first game).

Everything is perfect about this game. The story, the thrill, the adrenaline, the emotions, the soundtrack, facial animations (!!!, btw the best I've seen to date in a video game). This is the game that will stay in my memory forever, some particular moments. The art in its purest form. Thank You, Naughty Dog!

Basically my progress got bricked early into the game with a double bug combo: a lethal elevator rope and gap where the rest of the level should be once I got the rope bit right. I thought at least the perfectionist dev company was above selling broken games

I can't believe that this world is full of haters. Whoever is complaining about the game story should simply watch the Disney movies instead with happy endings.

I am into 10 Hrs of gameplay and can form my opinion that this is one of the best games we got this generation.

    Shame on haters

I really don't understand all the hate going on around this game, I found TLOU2 a great game with a fascinating story, I felt very band and stressed at some points during the story, and experienced something in a video game, that I've never felt before, some people may like the story, other don't. But the fact is that Naughty Dog made something unique here, nobody can deny that.

    PROS
    Unique Story

    Best last gen graphics
    Great animations
    Nice combat and enemies

It doesn't really connect to the first game, the themes of revenge and redemption have been explored in games before and in a much better way. I keep reading that this game is supposedly "brave", but I do not see what's brave about it. There is no real twist, no revelation, no character development...so what is brave about the game?

I have been reading/ watching/ playing zombie, dystopian and post-apocalyptic media for years and this is by far one of the weakest examples I have ever come across.
Zombie TV shows have better story lines.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Huge fan of the first game. Let me start by saying it’s ok to not like this game. The revenge story I can get behind. Even a revenge story where the main character loses everything. What I can’t get behind is a game full of unlikable characters. Killing Joel was a huge moment. Joel is a character loved by all and it brought out so many emotions. The whole entire second part of the game is spent playing as his killer. Did they take this time to make her likable and relatable? No. Did they take this time to add meaningful interactions with the rest of the cast? No. It was hours and hours of bad writing and bad pacing. The most enjoyable moments were when I killed so I could see the little cut scene where Abby died. The end was wack. Ellie throws away her whole family to not get revenge. Why did she do this? Because she had a vision of Joel on the porch playing guitar. This game was dumb and had terrible writing. The first half was so good. It just sucks that the second half was so atrociously bad it made me regret playing the game at all. One of my favorite games of all time is ruined because the sequel was so bad. Congratulations Naughty Dog. You tricked me into buying the most expensive edition and bait and switched out with the sorriest excuse of a story that you could’ve come up with. Rent this game if you have to play it. It’s terrible. Just play the original. That game at least had some heart and soul. Part 2 is just a waste of 20+ hours. Expand

Well I don’t want to jump on a bandwagon but I wanted to give my honest opinion. The game is held back by an almost laughable story that tried to shock but actually just bored. The first game felt like a gut wrenching simulation of the apocalypse. This one feels like that Australian TV show The Tribe that aired on a cheap channel in the 90s. Contrary to most of the reviews here I actually liked Abby as a character, trouble is everything that dribbled out of all characters mouths seemed hollow, their actions never seem realistic bordering on character breaking at many times. Grounded hardened survivalist characters act like children trying to get invited to the prom here.

Not that it matters, all disagreement with this game being literal perfection is being labelled as all sorts of horrific things. Time will tell I guess, they got my money I’m sure they don’t care. I reckon they might care when they want to sell the next one. I won’t be rushing to buy that one.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Triple-A graphics, acting and world design coupled with fair gameplay can only carry a game so far, particularly when it is the sequel to one of the most acclaimed story-driven games of all time. Favourite characters are reduced to one-dimensional hatred driven messes. Most newly introduced characters are equally if not more despised. The story is generic, full of nonsensical character decisions and so steeped in an atmosphere of cruelty and despair that it detracts from any enjoyment you may otherwise experience from the better aspects of the game. A Triple-A title but a Triple-A disappointment. Expand

I don't think the original TLOU is the exalted masterpiece many claim it to be. I found the gun-play, stealth, crafting, and set piece interactions to be very boilerplate and just disengaging on the whole.

The reason I bring this up is because TLOU Part II is, in nearly every aspect, worse than its predecessor. The main protagonists and general characters of the game's story are uninteresting and inferior to those of the original. The narrative is a mess with some segments feeling detached and unnecessary while the moral absolutism of characters' motivations and actions are simply at odds with the themes of revenge the game wishes to paint in shades of grey. The gameplay is largely the same affair from the original with minor superfluous enhancements and less brain-dead "puzzles."

I went in not expecting much, or about something on par with the original, but somehow came away with a newfound sense of disgust and disappointment. Thankfully, I got a full refund at my local game shop as the clerk was sympathetic to my and others' plight.

Honestly, the game is about a 6/10. I'm giving it a 3/10 to offset the **** 10/10 scores. It's just mildly better than average. I could care less about preachy, it's the writing, it's just not very good.

This game shouldn't be existed since it ruins everything has ever existed in the first part1. The golfing scene and the meaningless final battle have done it very well. It destroyed all logic from the first part. ND wants a new game of throne ending? Now they have it. With the bunch of 10/10 from press' reviewers (surely grabbing lots of money from Sony) ---> GOTY has come. Good game!

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
