Expand

The only thing I knew for sure was that thered be another playable character. First let's state the obvious. The game looks absolutely phenomenal. There no denying that. Also at least for me I didn't have any sort of bugs or glitches in my playthrough, that's another plus. The voice acting was top tier. However, for me the story just didn't work. Im not going to sit here complaining about narrative choices that the developer made. Be it Joel's death or the lengthy play time as abby. They can do whatever it is they want with it. That being said it doesn't mean I have to enjoy it or have fun playing it and I didn't. Personally I feel I would have enjoyed the story more if it was a tv series or movie as opposed to a game. It just didn't have that same "something " that the first game did. Ultimately I play video games to have fun and this game just isn't fun. Clearly its not meant to be and that's ok. Its just not for me. Expand

The Last Of Us 2 was one of the most anticipated games of this year for me. Did it live up to those expectations? Not really, but I still really enjoyed it. The game-play was similar to the first but funner, i also enjoyed the addition of a new type of infected as well as one of the later bosses.

I also enjoyed a lot of the story, but not the parts I originally thought I would.
The game is split between two perspectives. You've got Ellie's first, then Abby's. I ended up enjoying the second half of the game more than the first. In fact, if the game only focused on Abby's campaign, it would have been stronger. Other than the infamous scene in the beginning of the game, Ellie's route didn't really make me feel any kind of way and I had a hard time caring about her companions. Dina didn't have as much depth as I would have hoped, and I quickly got more attached to Abby's companions.
The game-play in Ellie's route became very repetitive and boring after a while, where is Abby's seemed to kick up the pace a lot.
The biggest issue I had with the story was the epilogue. I can see what the writer's were trying to go for, but it left me feeling kind of sad.
There was a lot going on in this game, almost like they were trying do too much at once. It felt like two different games combined into one. Because of this some things aren't as fleshed out as i would of liked, such as a couple of the factions.

All in all it's a solid game, I definitely plan on replaying it. It doesn't live up to the first's reputation, but if you're a fan of the series I think it's worth a shot. Just be prepared for it to yank on your heartstrings.

How to mess up a whole history that has been developed for many years in a couple of minutes. The game play, the graphics , places , characters, and everything was perfect for me , but it’s hard to see how you can mess a game so much just changing the merely history , just for that , all the hard work of animators , creators and more stuff comes to the trash just for a bad ending and I wasn’t expecting it to be a happy ending , but either the worse ending I have ever seen , I might not be able to understand the true meaning to this ending but for me it was crap, I tried to defend this game from a long time but after this, all that I can say is “ buy it if you want to spend some couple of hours enjoying a good gameplay and not caring about the history then buy it . But if you are looking for a master piece history then please make your self a favor and don’t buy it Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I must say, the game is a masterpiece graphically and animation-wise, but the story, its too much...
Many people say its amazing, some terrible, the only reason i gave it a 7 was because its a 5 for the story and 9 for the graphics and visuals, meaning a 7 average. The first game is literally my favorite game of all time. This took the first games ideology of characters, and threw it in the trash.. The game relies WAY too much on looking for notes and writings to give story details instead of giving us the details up front. I agree a game shouldn't spoonfeed us details, but about half of all the games story is taken into writings and notes instead of actual dialogue. They focused so much on us liking Abby that we barely got to see character development from Ellie and Dina, even Tommy too. For tommy to survive a bullet to the back of the head (and exits the other side) its actually the dumbest thing the game could do in my opinion. The game needed Tommy alive, but realized he was underused so they put him into the situation that "killed him" then he survived. It's a mix of emotions, but it never should have happened. Abby and her friends are focused on too much for most peoples liking. The games message is that there are 2 sides to every story, and revenge isnt the answer, but guess what? We didn't like Abbys side to the story, and the entire game is based on revenge you never get. The ending is an obvious bridge into a part 3 that it takes emotional progression out. The death of Joel was poorly done, and ive heard the argument "yes he would say who he was, hes changed since the last game." But people forget that its only a 4 year gap between the games, and that the infections been out for 24+ years at that point, so what happened in those 4 years that made joel turn into a super helpful, honest person?? Yes, Jackson way have been different, but the point that they gave away names, location of Jackson, and their supplies away to strangers makes no sense whatsoever. The game has many plot holes in it too.. too many to count. The ending wasn't anything special, it made us hate the ending, which i believe thats what they were going for, but its no excuse to make a bridge into part 3, and completely disregard the entire story of Part 2 before that. Dina risked her life so many times and Ellie helped her so many times, but for what? Another thing is why do the developers expect us to like the long second half of the game (mainly Abby)?? It's filled with boring cutscenes, irrelevant puzzles, and helping out Seraphites for no reason other than they saved her. It broke my heart playing the game the first time, I had to play it again to see if i missed anything and if i was going crazy that they truly did this to a what-could've-been amazing series. The people who find this game to be a masterpiece lie to you, deny flaws, and crap on any opinions against the game, which is another dealbreaker for me. This could've been game of the decade, but instead they went and took any love for the series and threw it out the window. This game IS NOT for the casual gamer, for it asks way too much of you, takes up too much time, makes you forget scenes because it will have a flashback or something else right when conflict reaches a peak, or just doesn't focus on the story. You have to be attentive to this game 24/7 to catch every detail you need. I beg to anyone who decides to play this game to please not deny the flaws, for criticism is the only way we will be able to see improvements in the next game. Thank you

I've played the game twice and while the first time you wanted to see how it would end once you know the story a second walk-through feels not worth the time. I don't see the need for a 3rd game. There was no need for a 2nd game (although I was exited to see what they were going to do in this game since the first game is my favorite game ever) and I think there is no need for a 3rd game. Graphics are amazing. I liked the way the game felt. But I hated how the story played out why would you kill Joel like that for? He's a major character at least give Hime a heros ending. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us is one of my favourite games of all time, and was anticipating the sequel so much, thankfully I avoided the leaks bar one, the death of Joel.

The game is groundbreaking in so many different areas, gameplay, visuals, audio, all 10/10, no doubt, but for me the story is a huge let down, and was a way to shoe horn Abby into the story, while Laura Bailey does a fantastic job as Abby, I just do not like the character, I feel that the death of Joel should have been taken, and put at the end of the game, or at the start of a Part 3, Part 2 should've been focused on Abby, with the aftermath of the firefly massacre, and being a solider within the WLF, build her character, build her character arc, it sets up for this revenge story Naughty Dog were desperate to do and would've fit perfectly into a Part 3

As soon as the game ended I did not care to go back and beating it in the hardest difficulty, I did not care to go back and 100% the game. It was a done to done put the game down and go enjoy another game type of deal. As I would always tell my friends when it came to fan favorite movies, animes, and books. A good story has to have an impactful plot, it can come in a character death, in character development, or as a reader gather more points to the story to make it whole. In this game they went with deaths. The character they chose for deaths very agreeable into which ones would be more impactful. Now the way it’s executed is a different thing. This game did not do a good job in pacing out their “impactful plot points”. Throughout my gameplay I deeply felt the story was moving too quick. So when it came to the games impactful moments it didn’t feel like they were the main characters, it didn’t feel like those were the characters all the people cherished. It truly felt like some side character who you just met and died at the end of that journey. Even Henry and his little bother from the first game was more impactful than the main characters who died this game.
Enough about story plot, I’m going to get to my point. I was truly disappointed in how it all turned out, I wanted this game for the longest. I was sitting impatiently waiting for the moment for TLoU2 to come out since it was announced to only get..... this.

The writing isn’t as good, the character development is poor for new and existing characters. Old characters like Joel, Tommy and Ellie (ESPECIALLY Joel) are written very out of character with ridiculously poor excuses as to why they’re written out of character. Joel was treated like some random NPC. Abby is okay, I want to like her. But she’s too forced and thrown into your face. I hate pretty much everybody on her “team,” Owen, Mel - gosh I really hate Mel, etc. Yara and Lev were fine. But the whole Abby + Yara and Lev felt very.... well, forced. I love the new shambler and rat king. I absolutely adore the more intelligent AI. This story could have been much better though, but it just didn’t pan out well. Also, the HUGE amount of false advertising in every single trailer basically telling us it’s about Ellie, and that Joel will be embarking on this new revenge journey with Ellie because he “won’t let her do this on her own.” Lots of lying, and it’s disgusting that Naughty Dog would lie to that degree just to make money off old long time fans. Unfortunately, the problem is that they wanted this game to be about “hate” and I guess they did such a good job that people literally hate the game lol. Jokes aside, I will still replay the game, but it certainly won’t be for the story. Expand

As most of disappointed players I can complain mostly on scenario.
    - Killing Joel in such way was simply wrong
    - So brutal revenge on Joel after so many years (as Abby) is also weird
    - from my perspective this game would be very short, because as Abby I would killed Ellie and Tommy after Joel's dead, because why keep alive two people which are close to person which We brutally killed in front of they eyes - that's cruel and stupid.
    - First half of Abby's campaign is simply boring and took me over a two week to move forward. During that time we are playing as person which We don't like or even hate... later this slightly changed because of more action.
Main characters make stupid, unlogic choices during the game.
That story have also some good sides - player can compare/confront both sides during whole game and try understand reasons whey Abby/Ellie make their choices. Lev story was interesting at some point.

In my opinion - whole scenario is, let say... original, but original doesn't mean it's good and scenario writer lead this game in wrong direction - this is not a "hate", that's only my opinion.
Game is very popular and make a lot of noise in the games world, but that's not mostly a "good noise" and financial success is based only because a lot of people(including me) waited for this game almost half decade after amazing first game.
Writer let window open for Part 3, but I'm sure that will not be such successful opening like Part 2. I'm not even sure that TLOU IP can be saved after Part 2...
