    I am Russian and I am very far from the message of this game. I didn't understand the drama of the plot, I didn't understand the motivation of the characters. As I did not understand the prolonged boring gameplay. Good graphics, great animations, boring gameplay, AI has not changed since the first part, the plot is complete nonsense.

    Lots of people are giving this game a bad score for ‘sjw’ opinions and just giving gamers a bad rep.

    The problem with this game isn’t ‘politics’, it is that it is boring. The game has not much gameplay, gameplay is very simple (like ‘walk over here, click this button, and you did it) and is heavy on the cutscenes.     Above average world building, average gameplay, below average story. If you don’t like season 8 of game of thrones, and Star Wars the new trilogy, then you won’t like the last of us part II.

You kill Joel in 2 hours and replace him with a character we don’t even know or have any real backstory too who the fu** hired these writer wtaf. But all right I get it make something new keep us on our seats and guessing but at least make a Coherent story and character arc. Lastly I have one final thing to say to naughty dog studios , why are you making games political.Honesty what did you think would happen especially in today’s current political climate. Your literally putting a wedge between you and half or your customers. Keep your political views out of video games plain and simple. You know most people probably more than 3/4 of the people have nothing against lgbt persons and don’t mind them being in a game as main characters but to say that we are all racist, bigots for not liking the Obviously Flawed Story and your use of editing to make it appear that we would be playing with Ellie and Joel again is wrong and probably illegal. Final words if naughty dog does nothing about ND and there writing team I guarantee you will no longer get any of my business.… Expand

    From the technical point of view game is really great, but The Last of Us was beloved for its story, not mechanics etc. I know what was the point of playing as Abby - to see her point of view and to see her motives but its just don't work. Even after initial Abby-Ellie confrontation when you play as Ellie its just dull and pointless. You can say that the point of entire story is to learn that violence doesn't solve antyhing, that revenge shouldn't be an option, but game doesn't really prove it - yea the ending maybe, but it's like sudden enlightenment, just stupid. Eentire journey should show it, but didn't - maybe for Abby but only partially since she killed after rescuing 2 Scars without any hesitation - her character is just devolving in that matter. And it's not about Abby-Ellie relations, but for all the others side characters like this fat guy, Tommy etc, except for one: Owen.… Expand

    disappointing 5 minutes into the game and doesn't redeem its self at least story wise also not much is added to the game play on the positives of the game i can say it is pretty to look at and has great facial animations but the game as a whole lacks innovation and the story lacks substance i recommend picking this up at least half price

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm about 15 hours into the game and the gameplay is GREAT, but the story seems a bit forced.... It's very unbelievable that Tommy (a bad ass ex firefly and Hitman that killed thousands of infected and militia) and Joel ("the madman" that killed thousands of people with ease and lived over 30 years in the apocalypse without much trouble) gets themselves killed from a handful of Wolf's... And alongside that, ellie had more than enough time to pull the trigger after opening the door. This all seems like it's forced upon the player to just accept it because it is what it is... And they wanted a revenge story that's not fitting to the story what so ever. I love the gameplay, I like the new characters, I don't mind the romance, buuuuuut it could have all happened with Joel.... The story just seems rushed, which is strange, because they had more than enough time to create one fitting to the first part. Call it a theory, but I would bet money on it that they had a different story and mid development they had/wanted to change it. I will continue to enjoy the game, but Mr. Niel should respect the fans that aren't gay bashing the game and accept our honest opinions!… Expand

    I have never been so disappointed in a sequel.... 7 years of waiting... and everything that was so amazing about the first game has been completely destroyed by this one. The first game was successful because of the story! This franchise is story-based! Which is why a lot of fans are disappointed. Not just for 15 minutes but for the majority of the second portion of the game!!!!! and had the audacity to try to get us to SYMPATHISE! With her! No! Just no!.
    But what made me more angry was that Ellie’s revenge plot goes nowhere! The person got to live! Which makes me believe! That the killing at the beginning was just a plot device! Which basically proves that the director Neil didn’t give too s**ts about our love for the characters who we grew to care about in the first game. It’s like we have completely forgotten about the zombies and what made them interesting and again moved to the humans. Much like Walking Dead. Which in my eyes is boring. Don’t get me wrong there are some positives, the gameplay is excellent, improving your weapons has this cool animations and most of all the graphics is just stunning!! but the story had to be right and it wasn’t. *sigh*    … Expand

    It's a masterpiece and while I can accept other opinions, most of these ratings are just showing at which place humanity seems to be at right now... It's very sad to see so much unwarranted hate in one place. Great Job Naughty Dog! I hope you know, that you created a very amazing experience here!

    This game is definitely different, I give the game a 4/4.5. The reason I gave it this was the failure to follow through on the new characters they have added just to give what I felt was just more time to the game. the ridiculous amount of forced compassion upon Abby deterred me in so many ways, I constantly felt I was being led to how the writers wanted me to feel instead of how IThis game is definitely different, I give the game a 4/4.5. Who in their right mind would clear a very late term pregnant woman go into a combat/front line mission and then be surprised when they get injured. Don't get me wrong the combat and leveling have been decently improved, but not enough to keep me completely invested in the story. The score (when you can hear it) is phenomenal. I just felt overall let down by how horribly the characters transformed in this so unnaturally. I really wanted to love this game and I felt cheated. I had such faith in this sequel to blow me away as a follow up to one of the few games I will never stop playing.… Expand

    I was bored rigid for first 3 hrs, tedious. I thought the game picked up after that & it kept my interest, but in a bad, unenjoyable way. The stereotyped politics & wokeness the creators have tried to shoehorn down your throat is laughable. I was actually relieved to start playing abby just to get away from the wooden character of Dina. All characters have been stripped of any likeability. The whole thing is bleak & pointless. It makes me wonder if ND delayed this game because they realised they'd created a turd and sought desperately to polish it.I thought the game had ended after abbys first bossfight with ellie but no, they decided to drag it on for a second non sensical confrontation ( which felt like dlc). An utterly pointless sequel besmirching the memory of the first..which I replayed immediately after just to restore my faith. RIP to a franchise that promised and delivered then slapped the face of its fanbase..    … Expand

First 12 hours shows Ellies revenge and after that we play as Ebby 10 hours... I think better play in turn as Ellie and Ebby. We understand motivation of both characters, but in the first fight of both charecters, I had questions - "What just happend? I've just played as Abby... and why?? Game needed showed only 1 hour for Abby and what she is going to do and other 25 hours gameplay as Ellie! Why??". Gameplay as Abby at the fifth hour became SO BORING. I didn't care about asian kids, but I understood, Neil wanted show, how Abby becaming better. I thought we will see something new... but we get **** by Naughty Dog. They added couple monsters and dogs... Ok new aim for bow it is that, what I've really like of new things. I replayed first part and after that completed second part and there is only 1 big difference is graphic. I waited for that final, what I thought. For me Joel revealed more selfish, end of first game is not right and Joel standed him. Main problem is, than you play and play, but you get bored and start play another game. I can say 1 thing - TLOU2 is boring game, but with right end.… Expand

    This game is visually amazing and the soundtrack and overall audio is so well done, it also does well in terms of representation however for me personally, without going into spoilers, the story falls short and is organised poorly. This game is, realistically, somewhere around the 5-8/10 level, depending on your personal preferences. To some it will be bitterly disappointing and to others it will tick many boxes. I think the reason people give it the extremely low scores is partly due to extremely high expectations, this has a lot to do with the previous game and the overall problem of 'hype' which leads to unhealthy high expectations and inevitable let down, they also feel like they were. at times, lied to. A lot of things in this game were misrepresented in the marketing and that is unfair to them. Personal i would give this game a 7.5/10.
    It is dragged down primarily by the story structure, pacing and narrative as well as tired gameplay mechanics which aren't improved upon much when compared to tje first game. It is pushed up by visuals, sound design and representation and some (albeit not many) instances of good writing.
    Ultimately i would wait till its on sale but its worth experiencing at some point just not at its released price point.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
