This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Positives:
    - Incredible acting
    - Best graphics of the generation
    - Downtown Seattle is basically an open-world
    - Despite their best efforts, Joel & Ellie are still the best character
    - Flashbacks of Ellie & Joel are the best part of the game
    - Combat & stealth feels amazing
    - Infected are a lot scarier than Part 1
    - Outstanding depth and amount of things to customise
    - Handful of amazing action-packed and nerve-racking missions

    Negatives: | Here we go...
    - Joel would never go into a groups house just outside Jackson and give his name away knowing there are hundreds trying to hunt and kill him. Nearly 30 years in the apocalypse you’d think Tommy would be a bit smarter than to give away Jackson’s location, home to hundreds.
    - How could you kill off your most beloved character by caving his head in with a golf club? Arthur Morgan is a great example of how to kill a loved and well developed character, sacrificing himself for someone he loves. In Joel’s case that should’ve been Ellie.
    - There is little to no character development between Ellie and Dina.
    - You’re forced to play as Abby, the one who murders Joel for over half the game inan attempt to want to make you like her, I know, what the ****
    - You’re once again forced to play as Abby, but this time you have to try to kill Ellie
    - Tommy gets shot straight through that face but somehow survives
    - Jesse has such a forgettable death
    - Ellie has basically no development over the course of the game as she still wants revenge at the end.
    - So after killing hundreds and finally get to Abby (again), she ends up not killing Abby because she sees Joel, which surely would make Ellie want to kill Abby even more, but no, Abby gets to live and Joel gets his head pounded with a golf club

    Overview -
With all of its positives, I cannot give this heap of dog **** more than 2 for the incredibly disappointing story.

Its really sad that not even games are left out of politics these days. Look at how many 10s and 0s this game has gotten. This is what happens when you force issues and tries to "educate" people that dont need or want to be educated. You divide people into camps and get ratings that has very little to do with actual gameplay.

The game is visually stunning as expected. Unfortunately thats where the positives end. The combat is as stale as it was in 2014 but this time the story and the characters are nowhere near strong enough to carry the game on their own. Theres a zombie apocalypse going on but the characters are too busy bickering to notice. If you want to escape reality for a while dont get this game. The writing is not good enough. The Last of Us - Part 2 tries to be something its not and never should have aspired to be.

The A.I is bad.. visuals good. Combat okayish. Story and writing weakest part and didnt make sense to me. 1/3 of the game had to really force myself to play through for a maybe rewarding ending and just got smacked in the face with dissapointment. Another thing I want to add is if your thinking about buying because of the trailers, they are lying. The trailers are all fake for this game and dont happen so in game and charecters have been swapped. Be warned. Dirty tricks Sony, shame

The story is a simple revenge tale made to look like something groundbreaking by all the media outlets just because you have the rainbow people in the game.

I would strongly recommend you stay away from this game specially if you're a fan of the first game's story as here the whole virus/zombie thing is more or less non existent compared to the last game.

I want to start off by saying that I liked the first game. The gameplay was solid and the story was riveting, especially for a PS3 game. This, however, I did not enjoy. The fact that it's double the length of the last game makes it an experience comparable to torture. Nothing about this game is better than the first one. The story is a laughably bad excuse for a sequel. The gameplay has not been improved except for the trivial jump button, which might as well be removed because it is useless. AI has not been improved either, zombies still act really stupid. The game is visually nice, but it still has many bugs. Notably, corpses will just disappear if you don't look at them for a split second. The game is way too violent, but I'm sure many sociopaths and psychopaths alike are happy about that. All in all, the game is just a bad experience. The maximum score it could ever deserve is a 7/10, but I'm not that generous. Expand

But we were never here for Graphics and Gameplay. The first game excelled in its story and was praised for its depiction of characters.

Sadly, the same thing can't be said about this game. The Story feels like a bad fan fiction. The protagonists behave out of character and very often illogical.

Overall the legacy of the first game is not treated with respect. It's apparent that it was more important to ship some Agendas instead of making a good game. The ending especially feels like a punch to the face.

ND used to have a reputation, where you could buy each of their games blind and it would never be a waste. With this game, they have lost that privilege.

    The bad:

The story is terrible. Poorly written characters with actions that feel very unnatural and forced. This is a story rife with political pandering and political ideology which is not inherently bad...but so very poorly handled here. A real fall in quality from the first game. I found the end to be deeply unsatisfying-it made the entire experience feel pointless.

I must mention the blatantly misleading marketing before release which implied and inferred that certain characters are a much larger part of the plot than ended up being true.

The Last of Us Part 2 is a brutal, vapid, overwrought experience offering no insights or lessons beyond "revenge is bad". But what did that lesson cost us? Everything.

It's a ultimately a soulless sequel that failed to deliver what it's promise. The story tries to focus on the human aspect and claim how the humans are the "real monsters" to try to deliver some pseudo philosophical message and forgets it's zombie apocalypse setting. I won't not recommend anyone buying this game even if it was on sale.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly, waited 7 years for this and managed to pick up and play a copy a few days early.

The graphics push the PS4 to its limits and look great however you might run into frame rate slowdown with an older console. Expect dated QTEs, horrendous AI, very same-y models scattered throughout, and combat that's meh to say the least. Cordyceps are the secondary fodder to the humans (pregnant, trans, and whatever come between) and animals you fight throughout (dogs included). And, I get the whole "what if WE'RE the real monsters" motif, but come on Naughty Dog.

The downside that really hit me is not only do you lose a character like Joel who was a well loved character for NUMEROUS YEARS, but he also gets falsely advertised in a trailer, and then killed in the most asinine way. It's so seemingly uncharacteristic you wouldn't believe it when you play it. Abby's introduction for revenge for being the "daughter" of the doctor you killed in TLoU 1 was fine IN CONCEPT, but her character as a whole feels bland and not fleshed out at all. I also didn't feel sorry for her narrative even when the game literally pulled me by the hand and expected me to as well.

Not to mention the REAL kicker of it getting trailer after trailer showing you playing as Ellie and following her story, you have the worst bait and switcheroo of you playing the majority of it as the new unlikable character, Abby, really sucked.

But in conclusion you get a hamfisted "revenge is bad" narrative slammed down your throat after literally tearing through slogs of enemies the entire game to get to the finale and it being; "Well i did the damage to get here, and I'm literally about to kill you but hey, even though you killed my father figure, go on and leave now." And then Ellie just lets Abby walk on, after getting 2 fingers chomped off.

I basically feel like i wasted 7 years of waiting, $62.45, and roughly 26 hours of my life playing a poorly written, bland, and sloppy game who shows it off in spades after losing their original writer. In my eyes, they should have just stuck with the Jak 4 concept instead of this dumpster fire.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
