Cool game. Cool story. Great respect for the developers.
You get a lot of emotions from the game. Excellent technical performance. Incredible battle animations, blood physics and facial expressions. Well-designed locations and the atmosphere of the post-apocalyptic world.

I never post anything on this site, but I just don't understand hate, were does all the backlash come from! I haven't finished the game yet, however I really am astounded by the graphics, the artwork, the character development, the audio quality and the gameplay in general. It's a true art form.

I do understand that some people can't get over a certain story moment, emotionally speaking.

I do understand that some people can't get over a certain story moment, emotionally speaking. I even read that most backlash comes from the fact that the main protagonist (Ellie) is lesbian. What the heck is wrong with people?? There is nothing wrong with being lesbian and we have to get rid of the sexsim in the game industry. I want awesome developed male and female characters. However, most games focus on the strong male perception, what about the role of awesome strong female characters?

In the last of us part 2. Neil Druckman and the entire team at Naughty Dog created pure art, and I can't praise them enough for it!

I am sincerely enjoying the game, and can't wait what happens next.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don't get people. Many just crying for a better ending or a better story. Many are dissatisfied. How this or that would be much wiser to do blablabla. They want to erase this like that would solve anything, but that's just denial.
I'm satisfied. I got a story, a story what the creators wanted to tell me.
I enjoyed the game. The thrills it got me, the gameplay, visuals and the sounds. It all contributed to have a great experience, to involve me as much as possible to the world. The whole game is well thought out and well made. Lot of detail and work had been put into it, that's sure. The makers deserve applause for it.

I also had problems with characters. I didn't like them at the time, but that's just life. You can't make everyone happy.
(And you would not want that anyway. From a creator point of view you want to present your idea as you see fit, not as how others will like it.)

I also had a character whom I liked and at the end of the story I was pity him for being stuck emotionally. Just like how Joel was stuck with her daughters death. Which is totally okay. But he haven't moved on after 20 years. He got a second chance from life and he took it. It had consequences which he paid for after all. Ellies and Abbys journey also had these consequences, but at the end Ellie made the right decision. She has grown. We get the moral of the story, at a cost.
Thats why this game is so great. Its cold and warm. It makes you hate or like people in it. Makes you think. Life is just like that. No happy ending, just plain cruel reality.

I think many of us who played the game liked it after all. It just happened that its unpopular to have a positive opinion about it nowadays and it makes it look like this game is trash.
It's okay to hate it as well as love it.
Just don't let others ruin your experience. I believe it's a MUST to play this game.

    Stay safe Gamers!

Definitely not a 0 score game, you can't rank a game 0 score simply because you don't like it's story.
The story could've been better, and there're lots of flaws in it as well, but it doesn't matter. It is what it is.

As a game, gameplay, AI, stage design, physics simulation, actor performances, e.t.c. are all top notch,
to me it's at least 8.5, but overall it worth a 10.

Seems another generation of games ends with a last of us. perfect send off for the ps4.

It also seems like loads of people are hating on the game. If someone's review is 19th of June, then they obviously didn't play through the entire game or even close to it.I would like to state it does feel a bit weird at first to see Ellie so (understandably) angry and sad.. but the second half of the game tells a tale too.. one where you think about your actions in the first half with more weight. It's a very unique story and brave. I loved it.. but I think you need to be older than 18 to appreciate it.. which is probably where of these reviewers are going wrong.

Furthermore, LGBTQ is represented in this game, however it feels natural and not slapped in your face repeatedly. No one should care that Ellie is gay (TLOU DLC showed this). If you do its surely your own fragile masculinity causing the issue here.

Personally I think anyone with a discriminatory review should be banned and deleted.

Either way, this game is a must play for the ps4.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have never written a review on metacritic before, but due to this game's controversy, and it being review bombed, I feel like I should write one now that I finished it. I'm no writer, so I'm sorry if my review isn't particularly well written.
It took me around 25 hours to finish it, spending a lot of time exploring as much as I could.

The short, spoiler free review is:

The game is amazing! It's hard to play like some movies are hard to watch. It's uncomfortable, it kept me on the edge of my seat for most of it and I really love it.
Play if for yourself, borrow a copy if you are afraid you might not like it, but I can't imagine someone not liking it. Yes, things happened in the story that made me angry and sad, but a good story doesn't only have things the audience wants.
I truly believe this game deserves a 10, but I understand not everyone will agree with me. That being said, I can't imagine anyone giving this game less than a 6. A 6 would be the score if the person absolutely hates cinematic and/or survival games, but if you hate this kind of games then you shouldn't be playing it.

The longer, with some spoilers review follows (SPOILERS!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED)

I avoided any spoilers before playing the game. Even trying to avoid them I knew people were pissed because the antagonist is trans (although I can't understand why that's a reason for someone to be pissed) but I didn't know any details. Well, the game really does have a trans character, but it is not the antagonist like people assumed. People though Abby was trans, but she is just really buffed. There is another character that is trans, I really enjoyed his journey, but now I wonder if there were two separate leaks, one saying there is a trans character and another showing Abby with the gold club and people just made a wrong assumption.

Anyway, I really enjoyed the way the story is structured. It uses it's two protagonists to show the player the same events through different lenses. I hated a character in the beginning, then later loved them because I got to see things in a different way. I got really pissed at characters I've always loved, but I "forgave" then once they found redemption. Everyone is the hero on their own story.

The first game had some "nice" and "light" moments (like the giraffes), and this one does too, but on this game those moments are mostly flashbacks and memories. The present of the protagonists sucks most of the time, they are always under pressure, fighting for their and for their loved ones lives.

The game is good I get why some people are angry even after playing it, hell I'm angry at the game, but It's still really good, it's supposed to make you angry, it reminds us that everyone has their own story.

However, a lot of people commenting on this game need to grow up and actually go in to this game with an open mind instead of automatically writing it off after a couple hours (or even without playing it at all) because something happened that they do not like or because they are worried about some imaginary political agenda. The Last of Us Part 2 is a masterpiece that successfully follows up it's previous entry. It is not without it's flaws, but it's strengths far outweigh it's weaknesses.

The story of the first game is an iconic piece of storytelling that should be impossible to follow up. However, while Last of Us Part 2's story isn't quite as strong as the previous game, it is still a compelling tale on it's own.Last of Us Part 2 is intense and often times horrific, which left me with feelings of anxiety and dread. Much has been made about how the game handles violence, but I do feel that the violence works to the game's benefit as the story tackles the consequences of revenge and characters are forced to make difficult moral choices then face the consequences of their violent actions. The game trades black and white storytelling for numerous shades of gray that constantly make you reassess whether what you are doing is truly the right thing. Sometimes special "boss type" enemies will provide obstacles and some of these battles are crazy brutal and require frantic off the wall strategy in order to progress to the next section. This combined with new enemy types such as dogs and stalkers make for a heart pounding experience that constantly has you wondering what the world will throw at you next. Speaking of the world, exploration makes downtime between enemy encounters much more bearable and I often lost track of time as I scanned locations for collectibles, journal entries, supplies, and numerous secrets that give the setting life. I'm not gonna talk to much about the graphics and sound design because quite frankly that all speaks for it's self.

    Pros:
Refined the first one's gameplay mechanics makes an already strong system near perfect
Story is intense, emotional, and constantly had my heart racing
Graphics and Sound Design are among the best in video game history
    Exploration is rewarding
Most of the themes explored had me thinking nonstop and hit me hard
Boss fights are among the most engaging and brutal I have ever played
New enemy types add new wrinkles to gameplay and makes for more unique interactions
Character work here is really second to none

No game is perfect, however. Even masterpieces are victim to nitpicking and flaws. Last of Us Part 2 is an ambitious game and while I ultimately loved the overall product, it doesn't stick every landing. There are occasions I felt they tried to do too much or tried to tackle subjects that they really had no business including in this game. The biggest gripe I had, however, was the way the plot was structured. I feel like this may be the main reason some people think the story is poor as it feels like two different games with two different stories stitched together. This leads to a big lull in the middle of the game that honestly had me questioning whether the quality of the game would take a major dip and truly be awful. Thankfully it didn't and the game's narrative recaptures it's momentum and then some. This is still an issue that needs to be acknowledged, however, and while I enjoyed the 2nd half story it still feels mostly disconnected from the first half and just felt like really great DLC. The game also on a couple occasions gets a little too gratuitous in the way it handles some of the violence and sex and it can be a little distracting at times. New enemy types are great, but they are used a bit too sparingly which is a little disappointing when considering how much they can mix up the gameplay.

    Cons:
    Awkward plot structure
    Occasionally too gratuitous
New enemy types not implemented enough

I loved The Last of Us Part 2. The game's story and gameplay had me in a vice grip and took me on a roller coaster of emotions. Yes it made me upset, but it also thrilled and captivated me more than any other game has since probably God of War. I understand some of the narrative choices may make some players absolutely livid, but I implore you to go into this game with a completely open mind and just try to enjoy the game as it's own independent work of art and not just as a follow up to one of the greatest games ever made. Also don't trip so much about the inclusion of LGBTQ characters. Their inclusion isn't to push political views, but to provide representation in a way that suggests normalcy.

I really thank you ND to bring up this game, this story, this intense, this immersive world, the songs, the reality of this world in an other way and to level up from Uncharted 4 too! Big thanks for the game and please, do not stop making the very best games from you! :) This year it should be the game of the year, Cyberpunk would be the contest, but another genre, so it differs a lot. And CPR would fail for the hype, so I cannot say anything from it... But this game was WOOOOW and I wish I could play with games like this every year. :)

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
