This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am going to say YES to The Last of Us Part 2, stunning game and masterpiece of the year. It deserve better place then the current public reviews. And the developers and artists deserve an applause for their hard works and sacrifices. The story, yes, I got heartbreak in the first few hours, and yes, I hate Abby every bit even to the end. But the ending do make sense. I actually felt a bit joy for the ending, not because Abby live or Ellie forgive... it doesn't matter, I don't even think Ellie has forgave Abby. I felt joy because Joel's life had fulfilled. He got the chance to heard the words that many in real life couldn't, and from there, his story has completed. When I finished the game, I felt sad and emotional, but also amazed by its beauty like I was in first game, and Part 2 got me even further then the first. I disagree to many that a game must be entertained and happy, because that will let us lost the chance to get a good and true story. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is nothing short of a masterpiece. From its brutal story to its very complex themes of hate, revenge and redemption. After ending my first playthrough at about 25 hours, I was emotionally tired this game knows how to play with your emotions better than most movies. Also the games representation of LGBT themes is very good to see! It deals with them in emotional but thoughtful ways that adds a lot of depth to the characters! The game play itself has improved a great deal on the first game. Stealth is harder, upclose combat it way more complex. And this game looks stunning! I found myself taking ages walking through the ruins of seatle just to take in the view. For the people who are review bombing this game, its clear to me they have either not finished or even played the game or they simply do not understand the complex and deep nature of the plot! This game starts off as Ellie going on a helbent mission to avenge Joel's death and as a player you are behind her 100% but then at the halfway mark you find you self in Abbys shoes and it turns everything on its head. You see things from her perspective, her motives and the pain she has also been through. Thus casting the "villan" in a different light. So when you eventually come to the final confrontation you are genuinely torn as to who you are backing. The main theme here is two wrongs don't make a right as you watch two characters helbent on revenge have every single ounce of their humanity tested, fighting for love. It is genuinely amazing to me that this game achives the amount of character development it does. Every character goes through so much in this game its painful to watch in some parts! So when you see the same story from two sides and are still not be able to make up your mind, who is right and who is wrong its tough! All the same bloody brilliant story telling! Naughty dog knocked it out of the park with this game. Its a roller coaster of emotions and a absolute thrilling ride! And as an avid gamer this is one of my favourite games of all time! So my advice don't listen to the bad reviews... go out there and play it for yourself! And make up your own mind! Expand

The gameplay and animations are impressively fluid.
The details of the characters, their facial expressions, their behavior are astonishing. Together with the scope and insane amount of details of the environments, the compositional layout of the levels and the bombastic sound and music, they tell most of the story.

The Last of Us Part II has an incomparable narrative depth and it continues the story of the first part very well - but also with an unexpected hardness. The characters are incredibly complex, authentic and interesting. Their actions and decisions, however, are also deeply stirring but still relatable.
Naughty Dog uses the game as a medium to create an unprecedentedly reflective way of portraying the actions and decisions of the characters. An experience which it only achieves because it forces the player to experience the story from different perspectives and to back the decisions and emotions of the two main characters, which makes the game extremely emotionally challenging for me.
The representation of violence is without question extremely disturbing and uncomfortably realistic. A point I understand, but also scares me off as a player and makes me question the actions of my character all the time.

Amazing game, with a almost perfect narrative. If this was a movie, it would probably be on Oscar. Great direction, excellent graphics and insane real characters. Video games need to improve their level after this game. It is already in history!

There should not have been a sequel to the original game, especially considering the non-respect shown to anything that was built in the first title.

Combat is the best I’ve ever seen next to uncharted and god of war. I was put off by abby’s addition to the story but found her POV and gameplay much more enjoyable than Ellie’s.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The only reason I’m giving it a 6/10 is because the gameplay is a still amazing, the graphics are amazing, and the acting is amazing. The downfall is the absolutely horrible story they gave us for this. The characters aren’t the same from the last game and this game literally dumbed down Joel and had him get killed like a rat in the first two hours and then they try to make Ellie seem like the antagonist when she’s not and they try to make you care about Abby when a majority of the people who played through the story can’t stand her for the way she killed Joel. Oh and not to mention she killed Jesse like nothing too. Jesse was the only new character I was interested in and they kill him like that. Abby killed Joel, killed Jesse, almost killed Tommy and Dina, and she bit off Ellie’s fingers. Ellie’s killed lots of people trying to get to Abby and then she just lets her get away with killing Joel and Jesse and biting her fingers off. And at some point in the game when you play as Abby Ellie is a boss battle which no one wanted to play as Abby and every person I’ve seen play through this let Ellie kill them as Abby multiple times. This game could’ve been a masterpiece if it wasn’t for this horrible fan-fiction story telling. They can either remake this sequel entirely or they can redeem themselves with a third last of us with better story telling and not his fan-fiction bs! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is a masterpiece and milestone in gaming. This is not even an overstatement. The gameplay and graphics are state of the art. And the story is an extremely powerful, grim, groundbreaking, and heartbreaking (in a good way) tale of hate, violence, revenge, and moral conundrums. I felt Ellie's pain when Joel was killed. I felt her rage too. I wanted to get to Abby and kill her as much as any player. But then the game made me see Abby's perspective, for which I was not ready. I did not want to play as her, but I didn't have any option. But then as the story progressed, I got to know her story, her motivations, and her pain. I was still team Ellie, but empathized with Abby too. And understood how Ellie was the clear villain in Abby's story. It takes balls to do what Naughty Dog did with this game. And they did justice to the sequel and the first game. The ending breaks your heart. And would probably haunt me for some time. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I get the hate. I do. I hated playing a lot of it. I hated the choices made, I hated some of the characters, and at times it was hard to watch. But that was it's strenght too. Never have I clutched my controller as hard as this, never have I sobbed over a character dying like i did with this one, never have i been on the edge of my seat quite like this.

Halfway through the game, when the switch is made, I wanted to throw her off a cliff. My friends and I joked how I just let myself get shot over and over and I was genuinely upset. How could they? I understood Abby's reasons but her method was just too much. They went too far and how was I ever going to sympathise with her. She went from being a hollow enemy to a character with depth, that even after finishing the game leaves me wondering what's next for her.

I wasn't sure who to root for, i wasn't sure of anything.

I think if a game can make a lot of people hate this strongly, you have to also see that it means that it's strong enough to cause such extreme emotions. This was a ride, and I'm sure i'll be thinking about it for a long while.

"The last of us" это игра о всеослепляющей мести, но эта история об умении прощать. Прощать близких нам людей, прощать врагов, прощать самих себя.
Скажу только одно, 10 из 10 и никто меня не переубедит.
PS: Тех, кому игра не понравилась я не могу понять, но постараюсь ))

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m giving it two points because of the graphics and the gameplay/crafting. Those three things were awesome in this game! I was hesitant to purchase this game after reading the leaked spoilers, however “The Last of Us” is my favorite game of all time therefore I owe it to Naughty Dog to purchase Part 2. I will not go in depth since A lot of the things I want to talk about, a lot of reviews have already addressed them. I think I’m in the minority when I say that playing as Abby is really fun. I love her character model because it’s intimidating and she’s honestly a bad@$$! I don’t like the role she plays (NOT AT ALL) but I think it’s Naughty Dogs fault for making a majority of the player community dislike her. What I’m trying to say is that It sucked playing as the person that killed your favorite video game character of all time BUT I didn’t really care much for the story after that event so I tried to close that out and just have fun with the gameplay. The Last of Us Part 2 was a terrible story compared to the first game which is why I’m giving it such a low score. These games are pretty much defined by how good the story is and if the story is horrible then the game will pretty much be horrible as well. To finish it off I was extremely disappointed how this game turned out and really let down knowing that this is the sequel to my favorite game ever. Nonetheless I will always thank Naughty Dog for making “The Last of Us” and setting the standard that high! Expand

We are used to killing so many enemies time and time and it has been so long since I actually felt bad for doing it. Damn even the ending was a crazy hell of a roller coaster. Obviously Abby's story was not that emotionally catching, but hey she just appeared on this game so the attachment to her character was not that deep, and she barely had her portion of game compared to Ellie's.
If you haven't played it and just went into the hate wagon just go cry somewhere else and come back once you've completed the story, this game was a masterpiece for me and on my way to platinum the sh*t out of it.
The gameplay was somewhat improved from the original, but the formula was great on the first one so obviously it was going to stay as true to TLOU as possible. The crafting and skill tree was amazing and finding resource felt so much scarce that what I remember from the first one.
The way they definitely handled the jumpscares was amazing and I did jump in more than one occasion, specially the way the stalkers are implemented. Damn the first encounter gave me the creeps.
I also don't understand WTF is up with the whole Ellie's lesbian hate, if you played the first one DLC you should have known this by now.
Now the details on this ame were next level, the whole rope physics, the characters, enemies, environment, music, Holy F*ck was the amount of detail put on the game was crazy.
Anyway my game for this console generation is this one

The only plausible conjecture I can currently think of is that the developers, or maybe the director, execrates the Last of US 1, despite its grand reputation. Thus, the Last of Us 2 became a work of flagrant animosity, created and created only for the sake of extirpating everything they have built in the first game, which in turn produced an inevitable contrivance.

Due to the horrendous storytelling, which greatly lacked depth and details, people could not possible get the slightest immersion into the story and the protagonists. Yes, we get what the messages, the sort of a moral dilemma the developers wanted to show off so ostentatiously. Nevertheless, without any appropriate development, they are nothing but a mediocre platitude, an overused cliche.

Therefore, one would naturally ask oneself - do I really need to pay to feel miserable and abject? It is a perfectly rational and reasonable question because these two emotions are the only message within the game. Through demolishing what they have successfully built in the first game, and distorting the story just for the sake of going against the anticipations, this 'product' provides nothing but discomfort and despair.
