I know this game won the game of the year and that alone proves that this is, a masterpiece - I still want to add one more point in the positive reviews to wash out the negative ones. All the mad people are just mad that ND kills Joel and they then blame it on the "flat" storyline. Well, the story is not flat if you can get this mad about it. It is a bleak yet profoundly beautiful story about humanity, about perspectives, and about let go. Let alone this is the first blockbuster game that features a character that is part of the LGBTQ community. It feels like a win already from the get-go. Don't say that is not significant, for marginalized people, the feeling of being represented is just.. rare. And I don't care if most people can't understand that. I mean, it's hard to know what coming up for fresh air means if you have just been breathing normally for your whole life. And I think that people who are giving this game negative reviews need to get their emotions in check and acknowledge that this is no laziness; it is simply a game that does more than a game. Expand

Fun Gameplay, excellent Graphics/Sound-design and an emotional and exciting story (at least for me, this is subjective) that is told really well. Sometimes I felt like the game was a bit too long, but nevertheless an amazing experience.

Having waited 7 years for the sequel to the most intense, satisfying & powerful cinematic story in gaming, this is a disaster. All the characters act like they're in the first few months after the pandemic & struggling to come to terms with their new, violent reality. It permeates the game. There are some interesting ideas & themes that are never fleshed out or explored & are constantly mired in dialogue & behaviour expected of modern college kids, not those raised in the apocalypse. The technical aspects are as stunning as the performances, the story is nonsensical & unsatisfying at best. The gameplay is completely at odds with the narrative themes it so ineptly attempts to thrust at you, with all the subtlety and appeal of a homeless person thrusting a rotten pigeon carcass in your face and asking you to kiss their baby. It's the poster child for ludonarrative dissonance. There are enjoyable moments to be found, but even though it's a short game, it drags painfully. The ending is unsatisfying and invalidates the theme Neil claims he built the story around even more than the gameplay which not only forces you to slaughter trainloads of strangers, but take satisfaction in it, as shown by the constant mumbling both player characters constantly indulge in every time they do anything or think anything.
The story is barely worth a point. I've added a bonus point for the brilliant work on display by the production teams, none of which can remotely compensate for this intelligence insulting indulgence in narrative imbecility, stitched together by a complete reliance on constant, unbelievable coincidences and truly cretinous behaviour by all the characters, but especially those previously shown to be smart, cunning, suspicious and capable. What a waste.

The game is mediocre. It's not bad, it's not good. It hides behind social commentary to make itself seems better than it is. The low rating was given to offset the paid reviews that Naughty Dog bought. Be better.

And, damn, what can I say? I love it!
All the technicalities aside, the plot is f-ing great! I know, I know...You guys are pissed about Joel, and Abby but, like, why? Y'all really thought in this grim and nasty world of TLOU vengeance wouldn't come for him? Don't get me wrong, I loved that guy as much as I love Ellie and Tommy and the first game in general, but for me it was so damn obvious that he's going to pay for what he did. Simplest choice a writer could make
Plot's structure is, well, unconventional, but approaching it open-minded gives you a chance to understand characters of Ellie and Abby more.
Anyways, you can like the game or hate it. Just don't be an **** calling the creators names. They put their hearts and souls into this. Bye.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part 2 is by far the worst game I’ve ever played and I’ve platinum over 300+ games including TLOU2. The story was immensely poor with subplots going nowhere, characters acting out of character inconsistently. Heavily pregnant people running, jumping, climbing and leaping from buildings somehow? Introducing characters nobody cares about and making you care for them for over 10 hours only to kill them off anyway.

Then there’s the worst character to be introduced into any video game ever, Abby who has a personality of a wet fish, who becomes the most unlikeable character in the game after she kills Joel and try’s to justify it by saying, that Joel killing her dad after he pulls a scalpel on him is okay and enough of an excuse to kill him?? The graphics was also buggy, mostly when your playing as Ellie, and the cringe sex scene was so out of place and unnecessary just like Abby’s half of the game.

Overall TLOU2 is a miserable excuse of the game which prefers to focus on pandering rather than interesting gameplay. So the reason why most people hate it, is because it was a really big disappointment for fans who were looking forward to decent sequel to match up the first game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After 7 yrs waiting for two of the most heartfelt characters in gaming to be reunited I was buoyed my the trailers and immediately pre ordered the VIP package. The original game left me in tears numerous times it was so beautiful. Watching two broken people come to life through each other was simply magic. That mixed with incredible acting, gameplay, writing, and graphics 10/10

What they have done with the story in the second is criminal. You not only took the heart from the game, you did it with a sneer. You make your team labor and create some of the best graphics I have ever seen in a game. Astounding work. The acting again is incredible. But having read Neil Drukman's own comments, it appears you wanted to make a statement. A woke statement.

You killed, no tortured the main character. I love Ellie. But Ellie without Joel is a 95 woman in an apocalypse fighting well trained fighters twice her weight. Not too mention infected. Realism that was so good in the original... gone. With Joel there as a team, Ellie was believable. She had some great bow skills etc. Joel and his love for Elie and vice versa is truly what made the game edgy as well as human. And you did it, it seems to be woke. Then you advertised the game in a way that made it look like Joel would be there. You lied to the fans that pretty much worshiped you for creating such a masterpiece. For creating something beautiful.

And of course, Most of the strong characters you fight against are woman. Supplements are big in the future I guess? Abbey is built like an mma fighter.

Then you make the grieving player, yes most of , the fans that actually still played the game, you made us play as Joel's killer. (The only good thing is that I spent way too much time getting her killed and loving it. )

I could go on, but the STORY is literally revenge porn. That is it. No matter how hard you try, you can not like Abbey. And the ending you give is like one of those unsatisfying videos .

If you loved the last of us. and I absolutely did. DO NOT PLAY THIS. Forget it ever happened. Try and imagine Joel and Ellie etc living their lives out in happiness. Don't give these liars any more money.
For the record I am just one person, but I buy around 10-15 games a year. Usually preorder. But those days are done. I will be going to Youtube reviews etc This is on naughty dogs for lying and turning an absolute diamond into a lump of woke coal .

My real estimate 9.5. The path of Ellie is stunning. I passed with great pleasure! But the path of Abby leaves much to be desired. It was hard for me to pass this game. No, she did not cause difficulties. It was hard to force himself to play abby. I'm sorry that the developers have taken such a decision.

But the story is far from the feeling part 1 gave.

The longer you come into the game the more you grow sick of it. It almost feel pointless after a while. And the ending doesn't make it feel less pointless. The worst thing about all of this is how in the end for me atleast the game successfully destroyed the love for Ellie. She feels more like a monster than ever. But the fact that Abby isn't killed after all helps to not see Ellie as an 100% monster.

It would feel more okay if the horrible actions of Ellie feelt justified in some way. But the longer you proceed it feels less and less justified. But mayby that's the point. Mayby Abby is the one that should have good reasons here not Ellie.

But its not a bad story it's is smartly done and have taught behind it. It's just a depressing game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm giving this game a 10 because none of these haters want to give a proper rating. Let's get the easy parts away. This is the best looking game I've ever played and it's still on PS4. The music is a pure masterpiece, the voice acting, motion capture and facial expressions are so realistic. The combat is way better than the first game, we don't have Ellie from the first game literally running into the bad guys without being seen. And now, the story. People are still talking about it today because sometimes, the most controversial art is the most beautiful. The story left me speechless in tears, depressed for a whole month and no other game has ever done that to me.

First of all, we're gonna talk about Joel's death. While I can understand why some people think it doesn't make sense, that Joel was given way too easy to Abby, coincidences, etc. I don't think that really matters at all. The death scene was absolutely ruthless, I was shocked and angry. But I kinda asked myself: "Why was Abby so angry at Joel in the first place?" and I wanted to give her a chance. Also, they are living in an apocalypse where everyone does good and bad things in order to survive. Joel's death was the main part of the game.

Abby's part. People were quite angry they had to play as her. Naughty Dog never wanted you to feel sympathy for Abby or to like her character, they just wanted you to see her perspective and why all of this happened. This is the part where I realized the statement I made earlier that everyone does anything to survive and to keep their loved ones safe. No one is the antagonist in this story. In fact, Ellie and Abby are very similar to each other. I can find connection between Abby and Joel as well (caring about a loved one, Abby cares for Lev, Joel cares for Ellie). Abby wanted to risk her life and betray her group in order to save Lev, Joel made a selfish decision too by saving Ellie. We also realize that Marlene actually didn't want the surgery to happen. The doctor (Abby's father, who was killed by Joel) also didn't like it, but it was his only chance to try and develop a cure.

What I noticed is how everyone was happy with all the brutal stuff Ellie did, but I think they missed the point of the game. I think Naughty Dog wants to show you how much pain Ellie caused (pretty much killed all of Abby's friends). Even though Nora was quite an **** I was quite worried for Ellie when she was raging while killing her with that pipe. As well as killing Owen and Mel, who was actually pregnant. Ellie even decided to leave, but Abby found her. The fight scene against Ellie was brutal and quite uncomfortable. It's just like the Nora part. Naughty Dog makes you PLAY the decisions your character made even though those decisions are really bad. It's a cool touch in my opinion. The fact that I had to choke Ellie while spamming the square button really shattered me.

The ending. Finally, Ellie is seemingly in a good spot with Dina and her child. She is trying to live a normal life, but her PTSD is kicking in all the time. The only memory of Joel that pops in her head is Joel dying on the floor, beaten (notice how Abby used to have nightmares about her dad as well). Tommy comes in one day and tells her where Abby is currently at. Ellie refused to go but the next night she decides to leave. Dina was very disappointed and Ellie probably felt bad as well, but she couldn't take it anymore. She finally gets to Abby, who's also beaten. They get into a fight and then, one of the most controversial parts of the game comes in. Ellie lets Abby leave. A lot of people thought that the whole game was pointless because of that, but I disagree. Ellie learned a lesson. Ellie noticed how Abby was taking good care of Lev. While Ellie was choking Abby, she flashed to Joel, perfectly fine and healthy, for the first time. She remembered a conversation she had with Joel where she told him that she wants to try forgive him for what he's done. But in order to forgive Joel, she has to forgive Abby because they were all put in the same situation. Abby stopped having nightmares after she met Yara and Lev. She started caring about someone else and let her father rest as a good memory. There's so much more I can talk about this game, but I think that's all I wanna say right now. What a journey it has been.
