This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The downfall of The Last Of Us Part II is in its foundation. The developers thought that The Last Of Us was all about idealogy and philosophy. This is not entirely wrong as that aspect of the game was huge in the original. Although what really drove the first game was the relationships each character has with each other. Joel, Ellie, Sarah, Marlene, Tess, Bill, Sam and Henry are all connected naturally. The ideas the first game presents builds these relationships stronger. However in the second game the ideas it's trying to present compromises the relationships the game has; effectively taking away the game's essence. This is true as most relationships in the game felt forced. Majority of it felt like the developers were trying to reignite the spark they made with Riley and Ellie's in Left Behind. Sadly playful banters and meaningful scenes will not be effective without grounded reason in their relationship. The game did not show or explain why Dina liked Ellie or why Abby and Owen are in love; they just are. The Last of Us Part II also takes deaths and its shock value for granted as many deaths in the game were purely for shock value. Some examples are the deaths of Jessie, Owen, Mel and Yarah. I find it hard to see the reason to kill these characters apart from surprising the player. In the first game deaths of characters had meaning in them such as the deaths of Tess, Marlene, Sarah and Sam and Henry's. These deaths hold shock value but also holds meaning and reason to it. This shows the lack of priority the second game has for characters. If anything the game prioritizes Abby's character the most as her story tries its best to make her sympathetic to the player. Which I believe is the reason why many who play the game despises the character of Abby. Abby felt like she was forced to be in the game and that the developers were forcing the players to like her. The Last of Us Part II had a promising concept of seeing the sides of the people Joel and Ellie crossed agaisnt. This concept, sadly, was poorly executed. The community wanted a sequel to The Last of Us Part II. Which was supposedly a story now revolving on the choices the characters made in the original and its impact on the characters; especially Joel's choice. Although it was touched by the second game through its flashbacks, it really did not do anything significant to the main plot and was there to let the players feel teased of what could have been the true sequel. The best parts of the game were undoubtedly the flashbacks as it is the only part which really captures the essence of The Last Of Us. Despite having great graphics and ideal gameplay for the genre it is not enough to save The Last of Us Part II from having a low rating. As games like this are played for the story and not for the gameplay. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I bought this game and played the 40+ hours of the Story. The Story honestly has no purpose. The game was very predictable. Indoor areas you fought infected and outside area Scars or the WLF.

The game is fun until you play as Abbey. You really can’t enjoy playing with her, because you hate her the entire time for killing Joel. That goes for her friends as well. Honestly this game has no emotional connection to any of the characters. All the new characters have no character development. Their character development is getting revenge on Joel for saving Ellie. I just can’t see a point or a conclusion on why this game exists. The game literally total pointless story about revenge. I’m not sure if I’m stupid but what was the point they were trying to get across.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Hmm...Where should I start... I preodered the game at first day of preoder-openning. I started the game at 0:00 19th. I completed it in 4 days. And I should say that it was quite the expirience.
I rated The game by 4 out of 10, I really like 4/10 of this game. You may say, I loved it. Gameplay, graphics, all of it worked greatly with immersion, with empathy for Ellie. I went in this crusade for revenge. But, when somebody made you play as the most hateful charecter in the game, and somebody tried to manipulate you to love her, then I just snapped, all gameplay went to abyss of unpleasant time consuming event.
And I was stunned how much of game perception depended of empathy for character. And that's why I write this review.
I think, that making Abbie/Lev pair an analog of Joel/Ellie pair is not that good of an idea. Becouse Abbie killed Joel, Jessie, almost killed pregnant Dina (not by accident by the way), and all of it opposed to heartfull relationships of player with Joel/Ellie.
And result of this poor plot choice is hours of gameplay, I hardly crawled through. May be story of itself is great, characters arcs, redemption, even representation is here, but that didn't work for me couse of existence of the first game. Funny fact that LoU2 would not work without first game either.
So I really wanted just tell that when you're making the game so mush immersive on already existed fanbase, you should understand what players want more: deep dramatic story or justice for their beloved characters.
    I am for the lattest.
P.S. My first public review ever) Just wanted to share my thoughts.

I think there are some characters that you can't kill in a story, when you kill them the whole core of the series dies.
imagine like walking dead kill, Rick Grimes!
they removed Rick Grimes from the show but they didn't kill him.
other than the core of the stories, you can kill anyone. like Sarah from last of us 1 which it was great writing or again, for example, walking dead which they killed a lot of important characters from the story
you can make an example like this in every tv show and stories.

now for me, this game doesn't represent last of us anymore, because the core is dead.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The idea of playing as both antagonist and protagonist is brilliant. Seeing both sides, understanding where they come from before the inevitable clash. The problem is that this is a SEQUEL and you are only introducing antagonist in the second installment. It's a **** uphill battle, because you're trying to make us empathize with the character who kills the established and well loved protagonist.

The thing is, you can clearly see that this was an issue for a writing team too. They make Abby too nice, too righteous compared to Ellie. It's a manipulative tactic, trying to push down one protagonist to boost another. They do their absolute **** best to make Ellie unlikable, didn't work. We practically witnessed this girl grow up, we will automatically be on her side.

I think the better story would've been a continuation of Joel and Ellie's relationship. It would've been much more powerful to see Joel actually witness and process the consequences of his own actions coming to haunt him. Instead, they took a lazy way out, which turned Joel into a **** martyr. I can't possibly see him in a bad light, because I'm too focused on his death. The character I loved died, death makes it hard to be objective about said character's bad deeds.

Oh well, I can see they tried, I just think that this shouldn't have been a sequel. This should have been a standalone game with original characters, that way this kind of story could be more balanced towards both sides of the conflict.

Doesn't really innovative from the last game, the story is below average compared to the last game, feels like they're trying to push the dry and edgy side too much. While the main theme violence begets violence flops pretty hard as you wade through nameless soldiers who repeat the same lines.with the horrendous crunch the devs were made to do. The accessibility options are a nice addition.

Sound: 7 - Good overall sound quality, especially gunfire and infected enemy variety sounds.

Dialogue: 4 - There is a lot left lacking here. In some cases, how the voice actors are reading the lines, but mostly the dialogue choices. So many characters stating out of character lines, it's not even funny.

Gameplay: 6 - There is not much different here than the first game, just another cycle of set pieces and environments to trek and battle through. I also ran into a lot of glitches where certain character models didn't load during death animations. I also once felt like I was going to drop through the map when hopping down off of a higher platform in an interior level. You could see the black above the level design.

Enemy AI: 4 - This is just downright horrid at times. Enemies on many occasions ran right past me. Even on the harder difficulties, this game was just too easy to stealth around and kill oblivious enemies.

Story: 0 - This by far is the worst aspect of this game. It is hard to get into the details without major spoilers, so I will say this. Stay very far away from this game if you played and liked the first game. I would call this game more of a disparaging fan fiction than anything else.

    PROS:
    Game looks phenomenal
    Game play is smooth
Audio and music is on point
Moments of real feeling and relating to the character

    CONS:
    Story line...... wtf & why
Character model (abby) not consistent and unrealistic
    Too much push on LGBTQ
Poor choice of over all message during sensitive pandemic

So let me explain my 6 rating.. It would have been much much higher... There were just certain aspects that made me almost quit... Aside from the obvious, in your face LGBTQ, which became almost comical, it was Abbys character model that was so ridiculous and unsightly. It was never consistent. He beefy muscles fluctuated in size from scene to scene. Maybe not so damning if you werent forces to play her so long.....

Then there was the story... Dear lord.. the story.. The first ends on a note of love and going to extremes for those you love.... But this one.... hate, revenge, loss, grief.. It tore down Ellie and Joels character to the point I didnt even like Ellie at the end...

For me.... This was just a heinous act at such a sensitive time. We are all suffering a pandemic. We have been locked inside. Little to look forward to in 2020. For some... waiting YEARS for this game, saw a glimmer of hope in the release of this game..... I would not be surprised if this game threw some into a deeper depression. Reckless and there was no need to degrade our beloved characters to the point they did....

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I remember finishing TLOU 1 I started at the the credits for like 15 minutes, wtf I need a part 2 this game is god tier. So when I heard part 2 will be a thing I could not be more happy for video games. We watch first trailers with Ellie and Joel everyone was so hyped. June 19th you know what happened...
Let's start with positive points, graphic is really well done I haven't encountered any bug/crash which I would say is a good thing. No slowdown as well. Gameplay is okay feel the same as first part but I don't play this game for the gameplay but for the story like a majority of people.
The story is the bad point, you remember the intro of tlou well TLOU 2 was kinda fun, looked like a teen tv show... Then, a bit of action and Joel dies? We have been teased with trailer with Joel and Ellie all we wanted is to know how the relationship would go and we get this?
Despite this event, I kinda liked the part with Ellie, probably because I had a story goal and I was playing Ellie. But dear god, the second part with Abby? I'm sorry but all I wanted was a skip button it felt so empty so weird like could have been another game. The character is bad designed ( not only this one but all new ones), the story around is weird, flashbacks for this girl, who cares?
The ending was garbage too I might be too dumb but I think I do not understand if there is a message for anger to show or something else?
I've always been recommending the part 1 to friends for the story even though they do not really play this type of game since this game could be watched like a movie so if you remove the story the last of us is not even an average game. Even the music is not good enough compared to the first one.

As a nutshell we were expecting so much and we got nothing. Such a waste

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Lets start out with what this game does right: The world is beautiful and even the linear parts have several branches of paths the player can take making each person have their own experience. The killing of Joel, while brutal, really set in motion the story and while I was displeased it was not series ruining for me. The story had an amazing pace up until the end of Day 3, which is where my 10/10 review gets thrown out the window.

Now what the game gets wrong: We spent an entire game and DLC caring about the Ellie and Joel relationship only to be forced to play the person who ended it. The pacing at this point is whiplash worthy, the player went for the climax back to day 1 and forced to play as Abby. The entire "SJW" backlash on this part is just dumb, Lev being transgender probably has a total of 2 minutes of a 30hour game. Playing as Abby was not a rewarding experience, playing as Ellie I was collecting every collectible I could, but as Abby I found myself forcing my way through levels as fast as I could simply because she was not a relatable character. They tried to give her a redemption ark, and all along the way you hear about how much of a psychopathic murder machine she is, and the island sequence prove this even more. Abby is extremely selfish, I get that they were trying to make a foil to Joel, but the character was just not relatable at all. Now, the ending was one of the worst in history; there was no real resolution making the entire game pointless.

First half of the game 10/10
    Second half .1/10
