unsurpassed, a new level in video games. His story seems more natural. It can be said that it is one of the reasons that classify video games as a new art. The true qualification is the change that leaves in each one at the moment of finishing the story.

It’s one of the best games of all time, fan criticism is just stupid, you got good development of the characters, their motivations and all of that just ends in a mature and impressive way. You have to play this game not being followed by the idea that the protagonist (Ellie) is always going to win and act like a killer

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Congratulations Naughty Dog, you subverted our expectations. By doing so, you collapsed two of the greatest characters in video games and created a half-baked story that seems like it's only goal is to try and hurt the gamer, but hey, it looks nice and sounds cool so you get a 10/10. This was a story with none of what made the first game special, instead it simply tried to drive the plot forward with forced shock value, and in the end, I guess none of this pain we all endured even mattered. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wanna start by saying that it's important to remember that the first game was a game with a very heavy emphasis on story, and therefore I think this sequal is more for the fans of the original game, rather than newcomers to the franchise (since it's a continuation of an already developed story). I avoided all spoilers to give this game a fair chance. Sadly, it was immensely disappointing, ruining both main characters of the original game. The pacing of the game, with the flashbacks within flashbacks and such was really weird and badly executed. All of this is such a shame, since the visuals, gameplay and atmosphere is definitely "game of the year" worthy, but the bad story, bad character development (of most of the characters), and inclusion of a horribly dull and uninteresting main "villain" just made this game uninteresting and boring for more than half of my playtime, and why would I give a boring game a high rating? Either way, I had such high hopes for this game, and it's just really sad that naughty dog couldn't live up to their previous standards. Expand

Grafica ottima, comparto tecnico ottimo, sceneggiatura superlativa. Chapeau.

Story is meh, not terrible, but meh.

Having to play as Joel's killer is my issue. Abby is unlikeable, uninteresting and hollow. I couldn't care less about her and spending half the game playing her is just a disgrace.

I can see how many people with certain life experiences would find this game initially emotionally satisfying however the totality of the package feels like being forced to relive a brutal and highly personal trauma that holds little lasting universal human appeal. Joel dies in the stupidest way which is super out of character for him I mean he could of survived by using a fake name or not saying anything at all. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The 7 year wait was to see the development of Joel and Ellie's relationship, their continued journey, the battle against the infection and the revelation behind Ellie's discovery of Joel's actions surrounding the fireflies, was half the reason I expressed interest in this game. The other half was due to the TRAILER, depicting the interactions of Ellie and Joel throughout Part 2, of which, was later found to be MISLEADING, UNTRISTWORTHY and a blatant MARKETING SCHEME to feed off the following of Part 1.

There are redeeming qualities to this game, lovers of the original gameplay mechanics will find them more refined and responsive, the graphics are astounding (as to be expected with any AAA game in this day and age) and the suspense/ shock factor is real with every encounter, be they human or infected.

But, the attention to the story felt lackluster, like the Devs had a checklist of current worldwide issues they HAD to cover. They focused on promoting LGBTQ (in keeping with Ellie from TLOU1) but also proceeded to vomit other cultural references such as:
Identity struggles (Lev, who despite a pressing global infection, managed to weasel in a gender identity issue - talk about priorities),
and also, Trans inferences (whereby Abby with her lack of emotion, boasts a steroid physique akin to an absolute Chad. Given there is 0 censorship on her scene with Owen where they quite literally "Bump Uglies" it can only be assumed Sony views her as a he, contradictory to Druckman, who again - must have been ticking a box)
It felt like the game was being catered to every audience, BUT the Fans. That way, when diehard Fans rallied with disappointment, other game critiques and reviewers would sing praise, simply because the game "attempted" to tackle real world issues within a modern context, and then actively look to silence "The Rest of Us".

The second part was a Trainwreck (and the Devs knew it, since they informed early access players/ reviewers NOT to mention the second half of the game) What the first game did so well was establish motive for Joel, witnessing the loss of his daughter at the start of the game and coming full circle at the end when he chooses Ellie, his surrogate daughter, over the fate of the world (of which was responsible for taking child) we understood him, his grief and the decision he made and we were content with the climax of the game. TLOU2 attempts to achieve this relatability with a secondary character (Abby) in about 10 hours, since she has an NPC dad who loves animals, who loves his daughter, and was a firefly who died at the hands of a man unwilling to sacrifice a child, we're meant to feel connected to her? And if none of those factors made her as "relatable" as Joel, they also give her a sidekick, Lev, of which, during the course of the game I found myself verbally exclaim "why the **** am I looking for this kid that I couldn't care less about?" The entire time playing her I was waiting to swap back to Ellie so I could wipe the smug look off her face, and that final battle, the suspenseful Death Stranding-esc showdown!? That was the ultimate blueballs in the end. Had the ending been a character based decision, (press X to) "Drown the **** or (press ∆ to) "let her sail away happily ever after" I'd have left her on the ocean floor every time.

I've seen the game regarded the Gaming equivalent of GoT Season 8, and the more you look into it, the more the parallels can be drawn:
Started off great (Part 1 was amazing, then went "down the pan")
Character threads lacking fulfillment (Joel and Ellie's relationship explored only in "Flashbacks")
Character development abandoned (Joel's scepticism of the world and people is abandoned just so Abby can take him for a round of Golf)
Downright disappointing ending (Abby ****s off to Neverland while Ellie returns to nothing)
Seemingly incompetent writers (who butchered everything they achieved in Part 1 simply to achieve some semblance of a "SHOCK" factor)

There is a petition on Change.org regarding the game, may this petition get traction and the game be changed for the better. Although, any press is good press right? so our anger as cheated consumers (MISLEADING TRAILER), will more than likely be ignored in favour of promoting how the game "Subverts Expectations" (if that's what they call **** all over your fans these days)

I hope Cyberpunk2077 destroys this game, of which gameplay reviews sound promising

And may there never be a Part 3

    Amen

Schlichtweg ALLES!

    Was ich gut fand:
    Was ich furchtbar finde:
Was mich zum nächsten Punkt bringt...

Was will man mehr? Was soll dieses trostlose Ende? Unfassbar frustrierend!

I was one of the people who had the game spoiled for me and I was also super upset about some of the events that took place. But with that having been said and after completing the story twice heres my takeaway. The pros of this game are that of the gameplay and obviously the graphics. The mixed aspects of this game would be the story as it's either one you're going to either love or hate, personally I loved it for the most part. The cons for me would be that I felt as though the story went on for far to long and I can think of about three times the game could have ended hours before the actual end. The games obviously not perfect but its definitely not a 0 or 4 either. I gave it an 8 because personally I believe the good far outweighs the bad with astronomical highs followed by occasional lows here and there. Expand
