Characters don't act like they should an they feel off.. The ending is stupid and contradicts the whole revenge plot and it leaves you feeling depressed and being liek wtf.
The story is pure trash and it's pathetic. idk who though this story would be a good idea.
Another catastrophe has been added to 2020 just oof. Graphics are neat and gameplay is nice but that means jakc **** if the story is pure trash.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Opinion about this game is very controversial. In fact, she is excellent. It can be seen that people really tried to make the game perfect, they love this game, in 25 hours I had 1 bug. She is infinitely beautiful. But the plot.
Joel’s death is very controversial, because the game is about the connection of two heroes, about how they pass through the world of apocalypse. And at first I thought that Joel was replaced by Dina, but she is not the main character, unlike Abby. Here the situation is directly heating up, because even with Abby's unbelievably cool background, she should not be the one for whom we should beat Ellie. At this moment, I was simply waiting for an end without emotion, which was drawn out indefinitely. Unnecessary storyline with Leo and Yara. People were waiting for a game about Joel and Ellie, and not about soldiers and freaks. When Abby came to Ellie, I thought it was the end of the game. But the game did not end very long. Just a lack of understanding of the reason why I saw what was happening was throughout the rest of the gameplay. But even if you do not focus on the storyline of Abby (he is not bad, but the game is not about that), then beating Ally is the peak of trash. Then stupid mercy. Then already a nasty family life, after that everything. AND THIS IS NOT THE END. You go to kill Abby, and you **** do it so stupidly, and most importantly not to the end, this release, this useless fight, it was so unpleasant to look at all this.
It is very difficult to describe in text the opinion of such a game when you have infinite love for the heroes of this game, its plot, which even in the second part was sometimes amazing, is not rare. But how the game led to the ending, and what it was, cannot be perceived .
And I, of course, understand that non-traditional orientation is not critical. Yes, even game characters can have this kind of problem. But LGBT propaganda is not the most pleasant thing for the community.
My rating is 4, because it is really a great game, and although terrible, but the absolute end of the game for most. And an objective assessment, better than a meaningless hat, for those who have made an unlimited contribution to its creation.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us 2 has one of the most disappointing stories from a Triple A game I have ever seen, that ultimately ends on a sour note, with the entire journey being pointless. The entire basis is its a revenge story. The main character Ellie journeys hundreds of miles, murders countless people, gets people she cares about hurt and killed all so she can kill one particular person, and when she finally get the chance at the end, she changes her mind and lets her go, wasting time, effort, and resources.

There are many characters, few of which are likable, contrasting the amazing mix of personalities in the first. Your main partner Dina is incredibly annoying, with her only notable trait being her constant inappropriate flirting with Ellie. Stand out characters include Lev, Yara, Owen, and Abby.

The writing is mainly focused of the characters relationships with eachother and there is little focus on the Infected or Apocalypse. There are multiple unnecessary sexual scenes that are legitimately painful to sit through.

The gameplay is largely the same as the first, with some basic improvements in exploration and combat, such as larger play areas with more verticality, new moves such as a dodge and the ability to go prone. The graphics are fantastic (albeit diminished by the intense film grain) as well as the sound design and voice acting. The game is locked at 30FPS with a Film Grain that cannot be disabled. There is also by far the largest amount of settings I have ever seen in a game making it as accessible as possible for everyone. There are significantly less environmental puzzles and cinematic moments than the original and there's much greater emphasis on combat and scavenging supplies.

The game will shift between playing as Ellie and playing as Abby, which have completely different equipment and weapons. The story will often shift time periods like a Tarantino movie which is detrimental to the plots pacing.

Overall The Last of Us 2 is not exactly "Bad", but after 7 years it is definitely a below-average disappointment and I have no desire to play it again.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. On the technical aspect the game was good as the great standard of Naughty.
the story and gameplay instead was extremely redundant, and tedious, also clunky.
Basically you go from open spaces fighting humans, you get forced by same pattern (falling floor, blocked path, fighting scene) to get indoor in dark close spooky place where you fight infected. and this repeat over and over again till the end.
the game totally lacks of character. everything is based on revenge. Cut scene are too long and kills the vibes of the game, the game overall is also too long. they force you play with abby half of the game to make you understand her point of view. but still the story struggle to keep you up.
Its clear that they lost the focu during the development, is basically an unfinished game with unclear identity and ideas.
the first one had the strong motivation till the end but this one is empty and cold.
missed opportunity for them to create a master piece.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Before we start, I would like to say that I am not a racist. And I don't have any hatred for LGBT people and I am, to some extent, tolerant. But in the game, there is just an incredible glut of tolerance. I didn't like the game. For at least half of the game, your girlfriend Dina (also terribly annoying) shows lesbian tendencies every twenty minutes and she makes a pass at you. This is incredibly infuriating. About the plot, too, everything is very so-so. Except for Joel's death, nothing really cool or exciting happened. The plot is based on revenge. You go, go, go to the final, then just get revenge. New characters, too, no, just uninteresting and all. Compared to what the characters were in the first part, these are not interesting. From the pros, only the graphics, atmosphere and cool semi-open world. The game is crap, for me personally. The first part is much better. As a stub in the form of the second part, received the same ratings as the first-a riddle. Maybe if the first part didn't exist, this part would be cool. But, when there is a masterpiece of the first part, it is, a stub for fans and a chic game for tolerant gays, lesbians. Expand

I can totally see what Naugthy Dog was going for with this one, they wanted the players to sympathize with the killer of Joel but unfortunately they completely failed here. Abby is a trash-tier character that nobody likes and no matter what nobody will ever sympathize with her. I get it that Joel is also an obsessive maniac but we understand why and what lead to that. We can sympathize with Joel even some of his realy horrible decisions and actions because it's a well developed character. Abby isn't. Abby is just **** horrible and she pretty much single handedly ruined the game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am changing my review after thinking about this for a while. Originally I gave the game a 7/10...but upon reflection...the game is really problematic.

ND attempted to tell two stories in one game and really missed the mark on fully telling either. This game should have started off on Abby where we would hear her full story before swapping over to Ellie after Joel's death. Instead, we get to play as Ellie for half the game with no real information about Abby until the last half of the game. ND sold us an Ellie focused game, and then proceeded to make us play as Abby for 10 **** hours. I did a lot of exploring, but holy **** Abby's part was LONG. An hour or two of Abby would have told her story better than what was told in 10 hours. Editing is really important. The game tries to make Abby a character worth feeling something for, but I just wanted to get back to Ellie by the end of it. Getting back to Ellie wasn't even worth it at the end of Abby's story. Why? Because after you hear about Abby...umm...Ellie's story just stops. Legit, that's pretty much the end of the game. This whole concept of a revenge quest...and you barely get a quest for revenge. You get mostly Tommy killing people off screen and Ellie opening gates shooting the **** with Dina.

Now, let's talk about stuff that really just doesn't make sense or is completely gratuitous...I was pumped to play as Ellie and Abby. I was pumped they stuck with the lore of Ellie being gay. The relationship between Ellie and Dina is beautifully written...but...why the **** is Dina pregnant again? What does this add? All Dina being pregnant does is take your companion out of the game for hours, leaving you with no story or character development because you have no one to talk to. Dina being pregnant really feels like a cheap trick. It feels like they added it because Ellie killing Owen and Nora didn't have enough weight on its own. That scene was just being screamed at "DINA PREGNANT, NORA PREGNANT BAD ELLIE" You can do better than that.

Abby sex scene...what is the point of this? I totally get the scene between Ellie and Dina. It sets up Ellie for an innocence lost story line. More importantly, it was done tastefully. I am in no way a prude, but Abby's sex scene was the most gratuitous sex scene I have seen added to a game in a LONG **** time.

Lev...ugh Lev...What a disappointment. I am all for diversity in games. I was kind of excited that they were adding a non-binary character, because the storyline could have been ****in good. BUT...oof, it is hard to say...Lev is basically trans/non-binary...and that's the only thing compelling about the character. Diversity is good when it's done well, but when you make a character gay or trans and that is the ONLY thing present in their character, you end up harming more than you are helping.

The cult (scars)...The cult feels like ND was so afraid of offending people, they just decided to not develop any story line here. The game makes a choice to not be political, but ends up being both political and boring. I spent so much **** time looking for journal entries and notes in a desperate attempt to find a storyline. I can confirm now that one does not exist. Remember all that cool game footage of fighting scars? Yeah, that's legit all there is in the game. It's like one fight and then they are gone from Ellie's story. The scars are the focus of Abby's story...I searched for a story line there too. The story doesn't exist. You could actually just remove this group from the game and replace them with WLF and you wouldn't even feel a difference.

The ending...oof. I am ok with Ellie letting Abby go, but...why does Ellie need to lose two fingers? Why does Dina abandon Ellie? The ending really makes the story weaker as a whole, and also takes away any replay value of the game. "It can't all be for nothing" YES IT CAN. This is not an ending worthy of anything close to 10/10. The ending didn't stand up on its own due to failures in storytelling throughout the game. Ellie's loss of her fingers feels like something added as an afterthought to give it more weight than it actually has. The end didn't tie the whole "revenge is bad" thing together, so they just added another cheap trick. They basically shock jocked it. Wtf is with the Dina **** Dina is your ride or die for the entire **** game and when Ellie just wants closure, THAT is where she draws the line? Kill hundreds of people, almost die twice "yeah, bruh we good." Wants closure after years of PTSD "buh bye" WHAT?

This isn't a masterpiece. This is an unfinished game. Even the saving grace of this game -- the animations -- are unfinished. All that talk of animations...and your stealth kills ARE THE SAME EVERY TIME. It really feels unfinished. To create a game that is bleak is one thing, but to release an unfinished game that has no replay value...oof, I expected better.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I typically don't write reviews for anything but this game compelled me to do so. Let me preface this by saying I love Naughty Dog games. I loved the Uncharted series and the first Last of Us. Upon completion of this game, I was left with a very stale taste of my mouth. Major spoilers going forward.

First, the good. Graphics, gameplay, voice acting, landscapes, and designs. I enjoyed the combat and the game never felt too hard at all (I died in a couple of spots but nothing too bad). However, most people are playing this game because of the story and, let me tell you, that is where the whole thing falls off a cliff.

In the first two hours of the game, you are introduced to a character named Abby. You even play as her a little bit in the beginning. From the get-go you can tell something is off with her. Throughout the beginning, you come to realize that Abby and her friends are there to kill Joel. Joel and Tommy find Abby in trouble during a blizzard/zombie hoard and rescue her. When they get back to the house her friends are at, that's when things take a turn.

Ellie finds Joel and Tommy but then watches as Abby puts the finishing touches on Joel's face with a golf club. Now we have the building blocks of a revenge story (since Abby and her friends conveniently let Ellie and Tommy live). The first half of the game, I was super on board. Yeah let's go **** up Abby and her friends. Nobody ****s with my boy Joel and gets away with it. The first day in Seattle was great. You are traveling around with Dina (your girlfriend) in an almost open-world type feel where you are finding points of interest and finding extra loot.

You proceed to play three full days in Seattle with lots of drama and good mixtures of action between zombies and humans. Dina is pregnant (from her ex who you actually meet up with at one point) and you are trying to find Tommy who set out before you to get revenge for Joel. Eventually, you get to a point where Ellie kills two of Abby's friends (the only two people on that side worth giving a damn about) and leaves her map with their marked location next to their bodies.

Alright, first off... come on. This is Ellie we are talking about. Also Tommy and Jesse were there so none of them picked up the map? Fine, whatever. Abby finds you, kills Jesse (the ex) and is holding Ellie at gunpoint. Then the game completely changes for me and this is where I began to hate it.

The game then proceeds to take you all the way back to Seattle Day 1... but as Abby. You then get to play ALL THREE days in Seattle as Abby. So you spend half the game making me hate this person and then try and spend the other half of the game trying to get me to feel bad for them? **** that. The whole time I was playing as Abby I was telling myself "they can't seriously be making me play all three days as her, right?". They did. Abby even gets to face off against a giant infected that would have been way cooler to fight as Ellie. Honestly, I got Abby killed a lot on purpose just to make me feel better. She is scared of heights? I should throw her off this building just because. Should I watch her get her neck broken? Sure.

The worst though was after you get through all three days with Abby, you are now back at the theater holding Ellie at gunpoint and you literally have a boss fight AGAINST ELLIE. I let Ellie kill me at least 20 times hoping that the game would just say "The End" but no, they make you beat Ellie before you can proceed. I thought what game turns you into the villain and asks you to fight the main protagonist? Are you serious? Imagine you're playing a Zelda game and halfway through Nintendo decides to have you play as Ganondorf for the other half of the game.

Needless to say there is lots of death but every mainish character gets to somehow live. Look at it this way, when Abby is done with Ellie (I mean she really lays into her) we have a ridiculous situation. Ellie is weak and beaten up, Jesse is dead, Dina is knocked out, pregnant and shot through the shoulder with an arrow, and Tommy is shot in the head and leg bleeding out in the lobby but the game shoots forward at least a year or so to Ellie and Dina living in a farmhouse. How the hell did Ellie get back to town with Tommy near death and Dina injured while also being injured herself?

Eventually, you get to the end and you don't even kill Abby. You see Joel in a flashback as you're about to kill her and let Abby live. You go through the entire game wanting to kill Abby and you don't even get to complete the revenge. In fact, you actually free her from her death and give her a new lease on life. Then Ellie goes back to the farmhouse, fingerless and unable to play the guitar and everyone she ever loved is either dead or left (Dina and the baby).

I get that the world is **** and not everything is flowers and rainbows but holy **** Ellie deserved so much better. **** Abby.

I can't believe they treated Joel like that just for the shock value... another case of a franchise dying just because it has to be ruined by bad storytelling.

Firstly, shame on those who simply ignore/condemn negative reviews and hide behind the oh they are anti-gay thing. I loved watching Ellie`s loving interactions with Dina and I hated certain things about this game. This game looks and plays very well. The first part is an 8.5 and the second part is... well I had to force myself to even finish it. This game is like the Star Wars-prequels or sequels and Harry Potter tweets by JK Rowling levels of a disappointment for TLOU fans. The game-makers had no grasp on the emotional attachment of the players. You can grow empathy for anyone, doesn’t mean you want to or have to. Similar to how I felt playing the second part of this game, I wouldn`t want to play an election simulator controlling Donald Trump... I wish I could refund this game which I don’t really like to play after the first 10 hours. Expand

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
