One of the most gripping and impactful games I’ve ever played. I’m still thinking about it 6 months after I finished it. Gameplay is smooth as butter & it set a new graphical standard for any game I play in the future. Story was a little too long but held my attention the entire time. Y’all really need to let that hate go lol

Absolutely phenomenal game. I loved every second of it (though it gets very violent). Its a dark, heavy story that will make you want to keep going. Its gameplay is the best from any game, theres a 100 different ways to tackle each fight. It feels like a movie but it's way better than any movie could be.

Without spoilers, the story is genius. It doesn't give the player what you want, it challenges you and compels you to think deeper. I love how the story investigates the consequences of revenge.

    Game play is amazing!

If you like a simple story that feeds you who to love and who to hate, this isn't for you. If you are a bigot, this isn't for you.

The problem with this game is not that it is inclusive (which is more inclusive than a Netflix Original series) but that, for the simple fact of being a heterosexual white man, he deserves to die, and therefore, you have to empathize with Abbie for having. killed, since that is what he deserves since he is a heterosexual white man and with Marlene for wanting to do it. Having just finished my 8th playthrough with the new 60fps performance patch I can safely say this is, in my humble opinion, the greatest game I’ve ever played; and I’ve been doing this for 40 years. The story, the environments, the characters, everything is dripping with attention to detail. It is a luxurious package. I understand a lot of people are upset with the story. I respect that but personally I cannot wrap my head around that view. I hate all this woke rubbish more than anyone but none of this is that. Yes the protagonists are female, yes one is a lesbian, yes the other is ripped. And there’s a transboy. But everything melds effortlessly with the story and is organic and believable. It doesn’t feel like a box ticking exercise. It makes sense that someone like lev would want to rebel and break free of a traditionalist culture. It makes sense that Ellie is a lesbian. And it makes sense Joel’s past would catch up with him in the most brutal way imaginable. All told it is a wonderful, heartbreaking tale. And it plays like a dream. Expand

Good acting, but character’s actions are inconsistent with anything we have learned in zombie apocalypse media and even TLOU Part I. The idea of “trust no one and especially strangers” is thrown out the window. All new characters are forgettable and some get killed off so unceremoniously it was laughable like something akin to the Walking Dead TV show. The only new characters that were redeemable were Abby and Isaac. The latter of which is barely given any character development. Abby’s actor is great and that should not be ignored because of the sub par writing. If you take the writing away, this game is great. But when you are doing a sequel to one of the best written games of all time it’s impossible not to consider it in rating this game. I’m glad I played it without having it spoiled for me, I think it did help me appreciate some of the story moments more. I believe if you did read the spoilers it will hinder your first experience with the game for sure. Expand

If you're going to kill off Joel, you better do something big to redeem it. It's okay for there to be tragedy in a story, but make up for it. The writers decided to have Ellie go through a lot of hell just to kill all of Abbie's friends, one being her boyfriend, the other a pregnant woman? That's so gross.

"Oh, but we're writing about how no one wins when you make it about revenge." Then could you make it about something else?

The point of Abbie's gameplay is basically to get you to understand why she did what she did, which is fine; and how she is actually a "good guy" and has experienced loss. I didn't mind the gameplay, but I question the reasons for it. So... are you saying I should flip and cheer for her over Ellie? Or do you just want me to understand how complicated this is and not cheer for anyone? By the way, you succeeded - I didn't want to kill Abbie anymore! I didn't really want to kill her in the first place, I just went along with it because what choice do I have?

Basically, no one wins. The fans obviously don't win. Ellie sees two people whom she's close to die, goes through MORE hell and loses two fingers for nothing, and we don't see a welcoming committee when she returns. Abbie loses all her friends and she can't go back to her old life anymore. I honestly felt sorry for her. If anything, I was glad (I mean, if you can call it glad at this point) Ellie didn't kill her just out of pity.

The gameplay was the best thing about it. It felt nostalgic. The survival aspects that made the first game great are still there. Fighting the monsters and bad guys was cool. I'd do it again for just for the fun of it if the story didn't suck.

The Last of US is a cautionary tale of what would you give up to save 1 person.
In this case, the world is infected. The only person you love has to die to produce
a vaccine to cure the world. While the 1st game is a tale of love, the sequel is the
    payment that is required.

Joel has sacrificed the world to spend more time with his makeshift daughter Ellie.
The lie that saved Ellie is the same lie that cost Joel his life. Abby is the
daughter of the doctor who was killed by Joel. Now Abby is fatherless and a payment
    is needed.

Right from the start of the game. The story constantly asks the question; Is it all
worth it? From the 1st part of the game, it constantly poses "What if it doesn't
work?" What if the sacrifice goes in vain? I believe that if Joel had time to say
goodbye to Ellie. Ellie would have refused the operation. Which is why Marlene
    rushed the procedure.

Joel didn't get the chance to confess his love. That was the one thing he couldn't
say but found a way to express it through travel and bond. That is why the game at
the end does not give you a choice to not kill the doctor and at the time, my self,
have even said "I would have killed him too for Ellie."

I have always said "What's the point of a cure if the world is broken? What good
would that do? I would rather save Ellie." I've reasoned with my self to save her.
Now, I'm seeing my own reflection right back. My own agreed decision with others
and how ugly it is. The infection only got worse...

It is very clear that Ellie did not feel the same way about Joel when revealed what
Joel had done. It was only later on after "squandered" years of Ellie not talking to
Joel that it was too late. She loved him as a father figure. She needed time to realize
she had been saved out of love instead of the her fantasy of being the savior of the world.

Ellie was not given the chance to forgive Joel which sets her off on her journey for
blood but every step of the way she is 1 or 2 minutes behind. I was also expecting
Abby to be somewhat of a monster. Instead, she was surviving like Joel. She was looking
after kids. As Joel, she also developed a mother figure with Lev, a young boy similar in
age from Ellie the 1st time around.

Abby and Ellie are two sides of the same coin. Abby is a Joel. Strong, older and looking
for love. I have no doubt that Ellie and Abby in another world that we call normal, would
have been friends. The proof at the end when Abby is done fighting and simply just wants
to save Lev at the cross. To be honest, I was expecting a boss fight. Instead I got a
pity fight. No, not Abby, Ellie. Even at Abby's weakest, she still gave Ellie a fight and
    almost won.

Ellie realizing that her win would only be in vain. Me in tears, seeing what shed had become.
I only wanted to save her, was this better? Was this worth it? At what cost? Ellie returns
home only to find out that she has lost everything if not, everyone. Ellie has become the
worst of Joel. Is she even Ellie anymore to me?
Looking back, I never questioned if killing the doctor was ever wrong. I don't think ever regretted it either. Now, I understand why Abby and her gang hated him. He killed him and screwed the world. I think back to what Marlene said right before the surgery "And what if this was Abby? -If this was your daughter, what would you do?". The person I was rooting for was a monster all along... The story forces us to walk with ghosts. We see only their love and perception. This game has managed to enraged most people who have played it and I hope they all come around to what I've realized. The unfortunate consequences of every decision. I understand why it's called Part II and not The Last of Us 2. This is not a continuation of the miss adventures of Ellie and Joel. It's another world. In this world, Ellie exists and she is not untouchable. If only we all could have let her be special; she would have lived longer in name. A fallen savior, left alone with no purpose; was our choice at the end. This game, like it's prequal before, is a master piece. It doesn't hold your hand and expect you to expect what everyone wanted. Instead, it asks us. What have we've all done? The Last of Us Part II Gets my 2nd ever 10 out of 10. A brilliant story, game play, design, and amazing cast of characters. This game is a must play for those who even are remotely interested. When asked if a sequel would be made on The Last of Us. Neil Druckmann - "Only if the fans really want it." Thank you for reading my review. I hope you all have a safe journey.

This game is proof that high production values and attention to detail don’t matter if the story is rubbish. There was a fundamental misunderstanding by the developers to understand what made the first last of us game so successful and beloved by fans, as well as a complete failure to understand why people play video games in the first place. I don’t know about anyone else, but I play video games to be entertained. In a way, playing is an escape from my daily life, or something that I can do that is fun that helps me relax. I think that this is the case with most people. I can’t see any entertainment value in a game as brutal and bleak and depressing as the last of us 2. I don’t want to feel depressed and angry when I want to unwind by playing a game. I understand that some games want to elicit some emotion from you to bring you closer to the story and make it more immersive, but they went way overboard on this one. Naughty Dog will turn around and say that it’s groundbreaking storytelling, but that’s a load of BS.

I understand that the development team was trying to go in a different direction and capture different emotions from the user than they did with the first installment. This direction was a complete and utter failure. All I ever felt while playing this game was disgust and depression. It’s so dark and bleak, and I did not find it entertaining at all. I’ve only played it once. By comparison, I have played the original last of us at least a dozen times.

I guess the biggest thing that bothers me about this is not the fact that they made a very polarizing, bleak, and depressing game that angered a massive portion of their fan base; it’s that they pretended like they didn’t do anything wrong and that the game that they created was made of pure gold sprinkled with Atlantis dust. The developers came off as very arrogant and elitist.
