This game is not bad actually part 2 is good. if you play until end you gonna like it. However story little problem for me on the other hand first and second chapter are boring but then going to good. Enemy.place, shooting are amazing. When you reach final you will see very epic scenes and that’s enogh for me. Good and diffrent you should play when you catch discount.

and while yes the story is lesser then it's predecessor, there still intense, sad, funny and sweet moments all throughout that make the game a worthwhile experience overall.

The graphics and scenery are beautiful, a lot has obviously went into that.

The game has similar gameplay to the first TLOU, which imo is a bit clunky, hard to get acurate targetted shots in.

The storyline..well that is different, it's very slow and unnessessary at times. And why oh why did they have to put a ball and chain around your charactwr

JUST to be clear, the people who worked on the game did great except the direction or stoyboard and pacing of this, abbys story entirely imo could of been left out. it just didnt feel right to have her in it. NOT to say its the VA and the production team fault. it was the directions overall. the game was great to play. and joel isnt a dummy even though i feel joel would have a lot of enemies. but that part with joel wasnt the way to go tbh. the game is beautiful, direction/story needed work. it was in production too long for it to be so flawed Expand

From an objective point of view the game is a smooth 10/10 from the gameplay, the graphics, the sound as well as the characters. There is little room for other opinions, I think.

The story is...something else. I didn't like the story here and there unconditionally, also the ending left me rather empty. Still, it has to be said that I really enjoy the game and I think that's what matters. If you didn't like the story here and there and therefore you think the game deserves 0 points, that's something you have to decide for yourself.

In retrospect of the story I'm not 100% happy with the direction you took especially with the killing of joel but after going through my paces with the game I have come round to the idea and can see the reason why you took the direction that you did and I'm glad that I stuck with it too the end this is coming from someone who fell in love with joel from day 1 and a person who spent 40 different play throughs just spending time with my favourite ever characters to come out of a video game.

With this all said I hope that Naughty Dog doesn't take the hate to heart and listens to the points given by them and there more positive fans feedback and moves on to still make great games for us to enjoy I'm personally super happy with The Last OF US 2 and can't wait to see where Naughty Dog goes in the future.

    Much love a fan.

The general gameplay is better, combat is more fluid, AI is a bit better, though still easily exploitable especially with lying in the grass. I hated the dogs, but that is more because I do not enjoy graphically killing dogs in video games.

I also enjoyed the story, I liked the way they told it, and I understand why it upset many people. Without spoiling anything it is a rather generic revenge story, which does not have many surprises but has some holes. I admire Naughty Dog how they are able to convey emotion with their games, and I think they were guessing that this story and the way they told it would lead to something like this.

I think this game became a victim of the hype train, many were expecting it would both cure COVID and eliminate world hunger once it comes out, but it did not. It was just a good game. If you for some reason get to read this I would say wait for a sale and play the game yourself.

I know Joel's death wasn't good intro for game .
    But we need it.
Because he was to old . Before the virus he was around 31-32 after Sarah's death scene. The game said 20 years later. And part 2 is 4 years after part 1. Gamplay was amazing you can't get tired of it. It's always show new things.
But some parts of game was to long for example. Abbys part was little to long

You know that already, monsters feel like dummies on loop patrol every 15 seconds, every area look way suspicious and too much designed to feel real. Its just the characters, the story, the length of their journey that is worth playing through and this is an awesome ps4 exclusive. Im not looking forward for a last of us part 3 though... The story and character development for me was definitely not hard to follow. It's a revenge story and the reasons are very clear.
if people cannot make sense why.. Well happy you, you lived a nice life until now.

Why do I give 8 points and no 10?

Well the game play is very repetitive and I found it at some parts a bit too obvious what happened. Graphics also were nice but on PS4 pro I had several streaming objects that were slowly loading and the film grain made me crazy at the beginning It a 89 :)

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. For context, I played this game around a month ago and I didn't even particularly want to play this game this year but with all the negative opinions of this game, I just had to play it.

    Story (Spoiler Free)
(I'll tell you when I'm about to talk about other aspects of the game)

The first hour or so with this game is honestly perfect and feels like it is about to set up a perfect sequel to the first game but it soon strays from this path to make a different story, a potentially good story but the writing falls a little flat and character relationships feel like they're ripped out of a soap drama which is tone-deaf to what the plot really should have set out to accomplish.

Looking at characters from the soap drama perspective it becomes clear that Neil Druckman wanted to subvert expectations in a more realistic and grounded sort of way which can make the story appear to be disingenuous to itself and what has come before often leaving behind great characters but rarely great dialogue between them and very little sense of any meaningful relationship between them.

But occasionally the game does reach the same heights of the original on a few levels, if you asked me how much of the game reached the heights of the first game I'd say round it to 1/3rd.

Is the story bad? no. but a lot of the foundations are struggling to hold it up and coming off of the back of The Last of Us 1 and Uncharted 4 it's a little disappointing that the story doesn't hold up.

    It's neither good nor bad.

Graphically the game is beautiful, there's nothing really to say here, the cinematography is incredible and has its own style.

The gameplay is top tier, a lot like the first game in that it's not deep but not overly simple, not to say it plays similar to the first but in the Survival Horror genre of gaming no other game tops this in terms of how polished the core mechanics are and I shouldn't have to explain, after all, it is a Naughty Dog Game.

    My Score: 8/10

    (Potential Spoilers)

Honestly, it's kinda stupid how people take something so ridiculous as having a favorite character and trying their best to ensure that a particular character is the holy grail of the series, I feel like I've played many games where a particular character dies in s similar fashion where people haven't taken it so personally (not to insinuate that anybody should take the death of a particular character personally at all) and I find this whole "THE GAME IS BAD CUZ X, Y, Z CHARACTER DIES" argument immature and honestly dumb, the game has flaws but that isn't one of them, it's evidence of a deeper problem that the story faces and that is kinda mid-tier character writing and conflicting tonality. If you're on the fence wait a year until this game is cheaper or don't rush to play it, play it in your own time and on your own morals.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Enjoyed the majority of this game including the visuals, sound, gameplay, characters and story. The first major plot point was a shock which I felt mixed about and perhaps even disappointed in initially. However it was effective in making the player invested in the story and caring about the following events, eventually leading to feeling accepting of this first plot point despite it not being the direction I hoped for. The first 18-20 hours of the game I really enjoyed and wanted to keep pushing forward to find out how things will play out. I particularly enjoyed some of the story telling methods during this, including flashback scenes which revealed some plot points relevant to the present day story. A few charming moments between characters which is typical of Naughty Dog games and offered some levity in an otherwise bleak and brutal in-game world.

There is a section which occurs around the 17-18 hour mark where there’s a shift in how the game plays out. Initially I really enjoyed this and it offered an another insight to the overall plot however felt this went on longer than I personally wanted. I understand the purpose of this section but it felt too dragged out for me.

I have mixed feelings about the end however I appreciate what the purpose of it is. My biggest problem with this is due to having a strong feeling of attachment to the original characters and wanting things to work out in their favour. This isn’t a sign of a bad game or story but a sign of attachment to the characters I loved from the original. I feel like if this was the first instalment I would’ve been much more inclined to feel more satisfied with the story.

I think overall it is an amazing game but it did take risks with it’s direction that go against the grain. This is always likely to cause fans of the original to either feel mixed or disappointed. If I were to change anything it would be to have more focus on the aspects I mentioned which made the first 17 or so hours so enjoyable and cut back on the section I mentioned felt too dragged out. I also want to mention I think it’s unfair to say the game is pushing a political agenda - LGBT characters feel authentic and adds to their character or story arc. I didn’t feel forced or anything other than having a variety of characters in the world. I think it’s fair to say that not everyone will be pleased with the story but I really enjoyed my experience with the game and even though some aspects weren’t fully what I wanted, I appreciate their purpose. The game is very dark and brutal in its theme which means not everyone will feel satisfied as most stories have a resolve or “happy ending”. As much as I would’ve liked it to steer in a direction that is more typical of game or film stories, I feel that it is at least true to the world of The Last of Us and is a bold move to deviate from expectations.

Despite having a variety of mixed emotions and thoughts on The Last it Us Part II, I did enjoy the game overall and will definitely play it again. I’d recommend others to give it a chance to experience it for theirselves.

Decided to try it out, even after all that backlash this game received, my review is from playing it on my PS5, also a disclaimer, I never played the first game because of economy issues of mine that I couldn't afford a PS4 console till 2018, but saw the entire gameplay/story cutscenes through YouTube and I LOVED the story.

So on the actual game now, the game when it comes to graphics, music, visuals, textures, sound, gameplay control, and with the PS5 update to up the frame to 60, this was a top tier development, as for the story the way they introduced Abby and how early Joel died in this game was a letdown for me, I don't mind the story at all, but the execution of the story is what made me not give a damn about playing as Abby, so I set it at the lowest difficulty just for her so I can speedrun her story.

But overall despite Abby's story, I enjoyed this game, but if they don't come up with new ideas in terms of gameplay because it's the same as part 1 I heard, then I might not bother with part 3, if they make one.

Its a bit too long and that's its major flaw. It looks spectacular, in my opinion the motion capture and acting are the best in the business and level design is goddamn good. The gunplay is very satisfying and feels great.
The story i don't agree with but i respect the balls to do it. I really do. I feel so bad for Joel and i cried my ass out at the last scene in the game. It hit me right in the feels and will always be in my memory as one of the saddest games i have played.
Overall, not perfect but its different and good. And to all the people giving it a 0/10 because there are gay characters or whatever, grow tf up.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

Vence a Abby.

I gotta say... it's a really good game, but the 2nd half drags a lot. It picks up by the ending sections of the game but the actual ending it's what limits this game from being brilliant. You really have to process what happens at the end.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

The plot in TLOU2 is not as interesting and exciting as in the first part, but it is still strong. The gameplay is excellent, action, animation, new types of infected. The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
