And seeing the hell that Joel and Ali went through I was really hoping this game would measure a but instead all I got was a overly politicized game and that's absolutely hates man they kill all the men off pushes degeneracy as normality. And instead of a story. I get a mass. If I could sum up the last of the sport to story in a few words it would be just plain evil to the point of say tannic levels. They're trying to push realism while a young girl kills hundreds of people that's what they're telling you that. In reality it's not about realism it's about pushing a political Meredith. A perception of reality that does not exist. I'm fully aware that this game had a feminist working on a multiple feminists actually except the feminist movement has been turned into a communist movement I'm a big student of history as well I know what the communists did to the feminist after they took over Russia they shot them in the head. This game has a beautiful soundtrack incredible graphics for the PlayStation for but it is one of the most evil sick perverted degenerate games I've ever played in my entire life. This is not a game it is what the feminists wanna do to all men kill 'em all. There is no story here worth listening to. Those of us who are giving this game low scores understand we are not review bombing it were just telling you the honest truth. The last of part 2 gets a zero from me for being one of the most repulsive evil perverted games I have ever seen in my life I would call this thing a piece of s*** but you can actually grow something with that. There's absolutely nothing good about this game. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Lemme just say I'm unbelievably lucky to have missed the leaks in April. I absolutely loved TLOU from the moment I got to play the demo at PAX East back in 2013. Thankfully I went into TLOU2 without any of the story spoiled for me, but to be perfectly honest, even if I knew I think I'd still like the game.

    Why?

Now that I've finished it, I would like to give my thoughts on the three biggest complaints I've been seeing online. First, that killing Joel was, at best, **** storytelling, and at worst, a huge F-you to TLOU fans. I hated that Joel died that way, but in my opinion it was perfectly appropriate for the story they were trying to tell. Others have said this, but TLOU2 is essentially a love letter to Joel. I was disappointed that he wasn't a main character but the player is supposed to mourn his loss.

The second gripe that I keep hearing is "Abby sucks." No **** she's a murderer. You're not supposed to like her. By playing as her, we are forced to experience the consequences of Joel's selfish decision. The unfortunate conceit on part of the writers is that they don't really care if you like her or not. Her purpose in the game is to show that other people in this world, just like Joel and Ellie, have families, hopes, loves, and motivations just as complicated as the main characters. The uninfected people you kill are actual people. Often **** people, but Joel and Ellie aren't exactly saints themselves.

Yeah, I get that it was a bit off-brand for Joel and Tommy to let their guard down when they first met Abby in the woods, but after five years of "normal" life in Jackson maybe softened them a bit. Who knows? To be completely honest some of the Abby parts for were a slog for me, but the destination was worth it. I could write a much longer essay of what I think of Abby but here isn't the place. Suffice to say, I totally get why some people still don't like her after all that. However, a lot of these 0 and 1 reviews just seem like a tantrum over having to play someone they don't like while completely missing the point that Abby's journey is essential to not only Ellie's journey, but the overarching point that justice isn't always possible and revenge isn't always satisfying.

The last major complaint is the idea that Ellie "failed" Joel, or that the whole point of the game was lost, by her not killing Abby. That complaint really blows my mind because the whole game was trying to beat into you the futility of vengeance in a world where everyone has suffered terrible losses. Abby learns this the hard way by opting into the cycle of violence by killing Joel, only to lose her friends and loved ones by Ellie's hands. By the final confrontation, they're both completely broken. Ellie's obsession with Abby is really just her displaced grief at never being able to properly forgive Joel, plus her massive survivor's guilt of being immune and it being rendered pointless. During that fight I was horrified at the thought of Ellie actually killing her, the same as when Abby was about to kill Ellie in the theater. Granted I care more about Ellie than Abby, but if the game had ended with Abby drowned and Lev alone I would have lost my ****.

Overall, I think the game is absolutely worth playing. Sure, there are some things I think could have been done better, specifically the pacing of some of the Abby parts and the fact that all the decisions seem so predetermined. I understand why some people dislike the structure of the game and how you play as Abby after Ellie, but I personally don't think that warrants a very low score. Also, I feel a bit cheated in not giving Ellie a ratking-esque boss fight, but that's not enough to knock off a point.

What I think the game did exceptionally well is the accessibility options, because I'm hard of hearing and being able to adjust the subtitle size and add direction indicators is really nice. The gameplay, skill upgrades, and weapon selection are top-notch of course. One other thing that made me really happy was they didn't pull the "bury your gays" with Dina.

The story wasn't a disappointment, but it wasn't immediately satisfying in the way the TLOU was. It took me a week after finishing it to process what I really think of it, and the more I think about it the more I want to play it again. Then again I'm a sucker for sad ****.

I really appreciate the narrative risks they took with this game. When they said it was dark, they meant for the player, not just the characters. This isn't about revenge as a power fantasy, it's the darkness of watching someone you care about spiral down a path to misery. In the end Ellie saved herself, but it cost her nearly everything. I sincerely hope there's a TLOU3-- that sad dumb lesbian better find Dina and get a happy ending where a cure can be developed without killing her. One can hope, right?

TLOU 1 was one of my most favourite games of all time, this game is the complete opposite. The story is absolutely terrible and feels like it was written by a 5-year-old. The gameplay is boring and slow at it's best, this game's gameplay houses no enjoyment. This game has nothing to offer outside pretty looks and is a disgrace to the series.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Naughty Dog is a (deeply) flawed hero in this story. I can understand the parallels between Ellie and Abby: both of them lost so much due to hatred and revenge. I understand the immersion with the character that Naughty Dog tried to make between us and Ellie: (HEAVY SPOILERS!!!) When Abby kills Joel, Ellie is **** pissed, and we are **** pissed. When Ellie questions why did that happen, we question WHY DID THAT HAPPEN (naughty dog)!? By the end of the game, after going in a killing spree, Ellie feels uncomfortable, and so do we. We realize the consequences of hating and the eternal cycle of vengeance, just like Ellie, and to break this cycle (Lev would probably go in revenge after Ellie if she had killed Abby), Ellie chooses to spare the person that made her transform into something practically inhuman. The idea of this kind of immersion with a character is one of the most amazing ideas I have ever seen in entertainment history. The choice of killing Joel early on is one of the most bold moves i have ever seen in my life: it´s unfair... it´s **** disappointing... but it serves the idea of connection between character and player (or at least it should). That said, the gameplay, the graphics, the level design, the accessibility, and the CONNECTION between player and character are breathtaking (NOTE: I said the CONNECTIONS between player and character, and not the characters themselves, with few exceptions). The 10-hour long gameplay with Abby was unnecessary. I understand that Naughty Dog wanted to present the ultimate lesson that we can extract from this game: It doesn´t exist good or evil. All that exists is the point of view (or some **** like that). With a 30 minute or an hour gameplay we could have know all that we should know about Abby and her motivations, and the people that she cares about. But she IS the villain. Why would you wanna play for more than 2 hours as the villain of a game? Why does this game have to act like the world is 90% of the time a cruel place, and that ultimately there is more "bad" than "good"? Why does it has so much negativism in such dark times? Why wouldn´t you feel the same connections and lessons by keeping Joel alive for more than 2 and half hours? Joel being alive could add SO MUCH MORE in terms of gameplay and more in therms of history. Imagine that in the 5 years time jump between the first and the second game, Ellie actually had built an extremely deep relationship with someone (Dina maybe). A relationship that was the OPPOSITE of what it was with Joel, and with that, Ellie actually had a bigger emotional gap between her and him. Because she found out the truth. And she found out that she was starting to become like Joel. So she pushed him away and found love with someone else. The same **** with the WLF could happen, only this time Joel doesn´t die. But Jackson does, maybe Tommy as well. Not only Ellie would be **** pissed off but Joel would too. Imagine a more brutal combat with JOEL. A man who had everything taken away from him. But in case if you´re wondering "Wouldn´t this compromise the emotional relationship that we have with Ellie? I mean, we have a much deeper connection with Joel then with Tommy and a bunch of generic NPCs, because we played with him during the entire first game. So killing somebody other than Joel as a motivation of vengeance for Ellie wouldn´t cause the same impact and rage on US, and consequently we wouldn´t have the same connection we have with Ellie when Joel was killed". I understand that. I DO. Naughty Dog had to sacrifice Joel in order to deepen an emotional connection between us and Ellie. But it could have been in SO MANY different ways. Joel could have feel guilty because he had put his guard down with Abby and because of that he blames himself for the destruction of Jackson. So we would play the 10 hour section with JOEL, and not Abby. By mid-game he could die in a more meaningful way, maybe he could die learning an ultimate lesson that we would only discover when playing with Ellie, maybe he should have achieved some level of redemption for all horrible things he did. It´s a real shame ND just cutted off the connection between Joel and Ellie in favor of some partes that weren´t really necessary and could have been avoided. My admiration for Naughty Dog improves a little bit when I take a look at their point of view, and the genuine balls they had on killing off this iconic character in favor of something new, and an amazing connection between player and character. But ND also had to assume the possibility of dissappointing their fans. And as we can see by these scores (most from people who didn´t played the game, but still) people are pissed. A BIG part of me is **** pissed. I don´t know if anyone is gonna see this but I HAD TO LET IT OUT. What a shame Naughty Dog. Hopefully you get the chance of having the redemption that Joel never had. 5/10 - Congratulations, you may have just broken your fanbase in two. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Well, today I finished the walkthrough
THE LAST OF US PART II. My anger and disappointment knew no bounds. PLOT!!! No, of course I understand that we need a strong motivational tie, but to kill Joel at the beginning of the game is simply disastrous. And now after his murder we set off to avenge! The plot is based on this.
We kill almost all of Joel’s torment, and contrary to the majority, I watched with pleasure how Ellie kills them all one by one (besides this, I calmly reacted to the fact that Mel was killed and she didn’t care that she was pregnant). But something happens and at the end of the game we leave Abby alive without killing ourselves. Frankly, I felt anger and DISAPPOINTMENT !!!!!! I don't care that Abby suddenly has a boy / girl whom she decided to take care of! Eye for Eye Tooth for Tooth! I would gladly drown her there, for Joel and Jesse without regret.
What is **** ?? Forgiveness? Good? To hell! I do not believe in it! You go, so go to the end !!!
Further, the characters are well developed, however, Naughty Dog suddenly became representatives of SJW!
Are you guys serious ?! Homosexual relationships are disgusting and not acceptable! Women belong to men, and men belong to women, period! And call me what you want! Each girl is my potential wife, until it is proved that she has a boyfriend / husband. Yes, I am selfish and you girls my happiness will not give you a lesbian evil!
Our second main character is Abby. Seriously? I was not saturated with her special emotions. She killed Joel let out of revenge but killed and I wanted her to die the whole game !! And the fact that she saved some kind of seraphite does not change anything. But really, thanks for being at least heterosexual.
The gameplay has changed little from the first part; it is pretty not bad but outdated. the character’s modifications and improvements are made in such a way that you don’t pump everything in one pass, I personally didn’t really like it. It would be better if for the second passage I would quickly open all of them.
The graphics are incomparable here everything is super, the music is also beautiful.
The conclusion is that due to the fact that Naughty Dog suddenly became representatives of SJW, the game gets 2/10. For graphics and music.
Naughty Dog change and give without this LGBT ****!

Expand

A disappointing follow-up to the original game. While the game gets a few points for graphics and the gameplay.. which might be somewhat amusing at times. The story (which is a big part of a game like this) is so painfully awful that it severely hurts the game as a whole. There are no likable characters and the cut-scenes drags on and on for what seems like forever.

If the studio wants to keep sharing the same game title: The Last Of Us, they'd better concern more about how the players would react to how the game is turning in PART II.
I don't mind if the story designed Joel's death in the game, but at least not at the first couple of hours of entering the story. It ruined the player's tie with the main character. We have all invested emontionlly into Joel throughout the first LastOfUs game. Framing Joel's death in the first 2 hours in PART II? That just ruined my mood for the rest of the game play. I have no enjoyment at all. I did not care how Ellie and Dina explore the city of Seattle at all. All the time they spent in the city were waste of time in my opinion. Yet, getting the revenge isn't what I care either. There is no close tie between the game characters and us - the true player behind the controller. The PART II has lost what made it popular in PART I.
I appreciate the game developers who put their time and efforts in developing this game, but I believe they would be appreciated much much more if the story wasn't what it is right now. There are a lot gaps and holes in the way how the game tells its story. Constant memory flashback did not change the fact that as player I have no interest in going any further with the game.
To respect my money spent on this game, I at least want to finish the game once so I have played through the whole game before start writing my reviews and comments. I am giving the score of 5 for the whole game. But if scoring only the story telling and structure, I would give 3 instead.
Next time, I won't trust any reviews came out prior to the release date. It appears all of those popular reviewers are afraid of putting negative reviews. There are definitely "controllers" around this. I don't like the false review, especially for the games that I loved.
