It's the same as the first and in the sequel it's actually a chore and is boring and tedious. Level design is the only good thing about gameplay. A.I. is cheap too (some enemies are cool like the dogs). Honestly, if you think story is enough to overcome such backwards gameplay then why not put movies in the same category. They have such good story that you don't need any gameplay. The gameplay doesn't push the industry anywhere but back to the PS3 era. We have seen this gameplay before. There's nothing new and everything is very old.

The story. Holy heck the story. Shock for the sake of shock has been done before. There's nothing new there. If you want to experience a repeat cycle of it then a montage of shock fanfics on the internet would do better. Trust me, you've never experienced anything like it. But even if you want to do shock then don't expose yourselves as ametures. What made Game of thrones initially good was that they knew how to pick up the story after the shock hit. Everyone went to try and replicate that but it was easy to tell the fake from the professionals because the fakes never understood that the power of GOT wasn't in the shock but the intriguing political duels and battles surrounding it. After "that" scene this game's story and characters become very awkward in their lines and acting. The script writers have no clue how to write a story from that point on and thought a cheaper version of GOT shock would be enough (pfft, ametures... hey, i'm actually sounding like a real critic). This game just keeps going back and forth and back and forth between stuff without character progression and without giving meaning to itself nor to the game it is a sequel of. Quite the opposite actually, it takes out all meaning from the first game. And the one point where they had an oppurtunity and could have maybe pushed the industry forward despite having a horrendous game before that point was completely missed. They could have given us a choice to kill her or not as that's the uniqueness of video game story telling. But nope, they opted for a linear approach (to be fair, it's not like giving us a choice there would have been newand revolutionary either) which is something seen in the oldest narrative games on the store and every movie on the planet, and then critics say this story pushes the industry forward in terms of story telling? No. That's Detroit. That's Witcher. Those pushed the story telling in the industry and the Witcher did it whilst advancing the gameplay in each entry. This, TLOU2, is just an insult. This game deserves to not be rated anywhere near those games or any game over an 85 anyway. The story was pushing "revenge is bad" via its linearity so bad that it failed. In the end, i didn't feel like revenge is bad. Abby gains everything while Ellie loses everything. Everyone except Abby loses in the cycle of revenge. Abby is the only one to have her moment.

And by rating it as high as the critics have, they have nuked and cheapened and made meaningless all the hard work, effort, awards and approval the gaming industry has fought for all these decades. By falsifying reviews on the PS store even before the game's release (which is why i didn't review it there and decided to do it here) sony has spat on the work of all game developers and the industry. You have cheapened the efforts and achievements of the first TLOU game. If TLOU2 deserves a high rating, then many other games deserve higher.

I give this game a 1 for good level design and good visuals, even though the latter is expected in a game coming this late in the PS4 life. But its flaws are too many and too deep.

And don't get me started on the creepiness of Neil Druckman.

Ok well, I’m not gonna say anything, if you have played the game, you probably know why, yup? I consider myself a tolerant person, but the there is some **** called exaggeration, which Naughty Dog guys forgot the meaning of. There is some sort of things I can comprehend, somehow, but exaggeration have never been in that group.

Why would they do the fans of this game so dirty? Just pandering to game awards and LGBTQ+ folk for no reason other than causing drama. Just make games for the games sake and stop this pseudopolitical garbage. There is a lot of great game design in here but none of it came from Neil Druckmann.

Wow what the writers were on when they wrote this forced **** of a story for a game like last of us. The whole games story is so forced that it feels disgusting playing this ****.
Only pros of this game is I would say the graphics and music. Other than that both the gameplay and story is trash. Don't buy.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The only feeling I felt when I finished the game was sadness. I can't really believe how the second game can be so bad, while the first game is so beautiful. The Last of Us was a brand I valued a lot. I still value the first game very much and I enjoy it even though it has been 7 years. However, I was very uncomfortable even when I finished the second game for the first time. Maybe I gave the game such a bad score because I was very emotional, but I am sure this game does not deserve 95. There are thousands of games and movies about zombies. What makes The Last of Us so popular is their characters. Father-daughter relationship between Joel and Ellie. These two characters make this game valuable. I'm not saying anything to Joel's death, I'm just bothered that it was done so badly. While I missed these two characters so much, I think we should have spent some time with them. Not with flashbacks! I think it would be a better time for Joel to die later. The death of Joel in the first hours of the game made me angry, I was angry not because he died, I was angry because we couldn't spend time with him. I also congratulate whoever came up with the idea of playing with Abby. He/She couldn't make the game worse. I felt that the time I played with Abby was wasted. Another issue is that Abby isn't dead at the end of the game. Ellie is returning for revenge, but just losing more. Two fingers and Dina. So if this is a story of revenge, it's definitely Abby's story. Why is Ellie in the cover art? You have destroyed people's trust with false advertisements. In my country, this game is 1 in 4 of the minimum salary. I'm not sorry for the money that I spent. I’m sorry because they ruined the game that I love so much. Such a disappointment. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a gamer who actually played through the entire game before writing a review, bravo Naughty Dog.

I'd like to point out that both The Last of Us and the remastered version have just over 9000 user reviews each since their releases, which are overwhelmingly positive, and somehow The Last of Us Part II has 41629 user reviews on the third day since it's release, which are overwhelmingly negative. And if you do some scrolling through the reviews, you'll notice that most of them were written on the release day. It took me 25 hours to plow through the story and beat it on the easiest difficulty with minimal sleep and breaks over the course of two days, so there's no way that all these people actually beat it on release day.

The new game has improved on a lot of the existing features and added a few new ones. Weapon and player upgrades have been expanded. The listening mode has been improved. There's plenty of optional objectives that usually result in upgrade materials, collectible items, or even a new weapon on occasion. There's new terrifying infected enemies and a boss that I'm sure will cause some nightmares. The game also provided some of the most beautiful scenery I've scene in a game yet and I had to stop several times to take a screenshot of the moment.

As for the plot, there's way too much unwarranted hate. I loved Joel and I hoped that he wouldn't die, especially after hearing about and avoiding the leaked plot and the outrage, but it would have made sense for him to die at some point in the story. I wouldn't have killed him off so early in the game, and I would've had him go out in a blaze of glory defending Ellie or something, with sad but touching last words to her, maybe in a letter if he didn't get to say them, but I'm not the writer.

I also noticed a lot of hate, dislike, or contempt for the portrayal of LGBT characters in the game, which is funny because the first game already had that to a lesser extent. Now it's at the forefront and people have a problem with it? Remember when Joel and Ellie had to seek out Bill, and when Ellie swiped one of his gay porno mags? Or the DLC 'Left Behind' when Ellie has her first kiss with her friend Riley? Although, I wasn't the biggest fan of Ellie's love interest, Dina, because she could've done better, but it was her first love, so I'll cut her some slack.

The story WAS GOOD. Maybe it didn't go into every little detail that I would've liked, or expand on certain characters more, and it wasn't how I would've written it, but it was a good story overall. Putting you in control of the "enemy", Abby, and trying to humanize them and explain their motives was interesting. At one point, you have to try and kill Ellie, and it was hard to do because I didn't want her to succeed, so I let her die multiple times and enjoyed her deaths.

The game had some interesting characters and it did really well at showing that sometimes good and evil are indistinguishable, which is something they explored in the first game with Joel, the fireflies, and now with the new factions. Everyone was doing bad things for the right reasons. It was all so morally grey. That's part of why I loved the story so much.

Overall, I give the game a 9/10 because of the lack of multiplayer and improvements that could've been made, but I'll make it a 10 to spite the haters.

The idea of the plot is precisely conceptually cool, but some kind of torn realization makes the impression blurry and you feel the events in the game separately from each other, because the connection between them is not really felt. To call us disingenuous or untruthful tells us that they don’t care about our opinion/rating if it doesn’t align with the money generating scheme that is currently set up. You can see this with your own eyes - I don’t need to tell you. Just look at the difference between PAID shill reviews who are on board with the SJW/diversity/gender politics band wagon and reviews from people who are honest and UNPAID who work their asses off every day to be able to buy the things we enjoy. We don’t work all day to fight to get to the weekend only to crack open a game that goes south within the first hours of the game - and continuously goes south right to the end.

Yeah, that’s great - all the shill reviews are going on and on about graphics, and lighting and “mood” and they’re not even being truthful about story and characters. They just want you to keep your head down, eat up the story slop and move on to the next BAD GAME like a mindless drone. They got their money from you, they could care less about anything else after they robbed you of what could have been a well oiled story with amazing characters. I will close by saying I will NEVER buy a naughty dog game again, ever. Thanks for the slap in the face. I hope this disaster sinks the stock of your company and buries you. You deserve it. How’s that for a fake review?

PS. The only review bombing on this game are people LITERALLY saying “I don’t like all the negative talk around this game so I’m going to give it a 100 even though I haven’t played it”. You are the worst kind of people, your “review bombing” has already moved this terrible game UP a few points. I hope you’re happy knowing you are a part of the problem.
