Expand

Another masterpiece. Just like the first game. The game looks amazing and plays wonderfully too. The violence is brutal and shows what a person would have to become just to survive in that hostile world. The exploration is fun and finding and reading notes are a great world building device.

I just finished the game and it's absolutely terrific! Especially when it comes to the story and the narrative layer. Naughty Dog hits the spot every time on this one. Naughty Dog hits the spot every time on this one. The story dwells on the subjects of revenge and the meaning of life. Can you settle down having people who love you close to you and keep your inner demons on hold? Absolutely not. You have to deal with them - just like Elly who is forced to deal with her demon, pumped up, muscled Abby. See how the characters in the story evolve to reach the climax in sunny California. I highly recommend this game for anyone yearning for the good, thought-provoking story. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Gameplay: The gameplay in the last of us part 2 is brutal, dirty and feels like you're fighting for you're life in every encounter. The AI is incredibly smart and can plan coordinated attacks on you as well as outflank you, when I was playing on survivor mode I felt forced to play aggressive as if I stayed in one spot enemies would quickly surround you. It is an immersive experience because of these mechanics as well as the horrific screams when you dismember an enemy or the cries of anger when you kill one of their friends. I recommend playing on survivor. 10/10

Graphics; Absolutely stellar, jaw dropping, and at times almost feels photorealistic. 10/10

Story: This aspect of the game is the most polarizing and controversial, and is the main reason of the negative reviews. The point of the game is not merely revenge is bad, as many players say it is, I'd like it to compare it too the final scene in "Come and See". In which the main character fueled by hate comes to understand that we are all victims of our environment, Abby is not inherently evil, the world she lives in forced her to be evil to survive, just like has happened in Ellies and Joels storylines, but as we play with Abby we see that she is not simply Joels killer, she is also a daughter to a murdered father, friend, lover and just as human as Ellie, she is a good person which had to make bad decisions. In other words its not the people who are evil it is the world they live in that turns evil into a virtue, almost a condition for surviving. When I understood this it was easier to slowly forgive Abby as each time we played as here we were seeing another layer of her, and by the end I actually enjoyed playing as Abby more than I enjoyed playing as Ellie. Whether you liked the game or not comes down to if you could forgive Abby or not, you're in the same boat as Ellie, so thats why I think whether to spare Abby or not should be up to the players, and not determined by the game, simply because a lot pop people could not forgive Abby, in my case I did and the decision Ellie made was coherent with my own, but a lot of people wanted Abby dead and just had to see their character forgive them. So in conclusion the story is a masterpiece if you can slowly forgive Abby thought the game. But naughty dog should have allowed you to decide. 8/10

I have finished TLOUS2 the experience is like a roller coaster and I can say that I don't agree a lot of things but I cannot deny that it has been the best story, If you want to live the game you should feel how is this world is like and this is a cruel world.

Now the gameplay, sound, and environment it is terrific!! A lot of people talk about history, It is adult history.

An amazing game with an amazing story. I wish I was better at articulating myself and to thoroughly review this. All I can say is that this game is revolutionary in how it tells its story. Many people weren't ready for this and reviewed it without giving it a proper shot. If you do play it, you'll see how good this game really is

I wen into the game with no spoilers, so I intend to spoil nothing in this review.
To tackle many people's biggest complaint: the story.
this is the one aspect that falls slightly short of TLOU, however the story is quite the opposite of the last of us, whilst the first game is about saving another this is about ending one. If you expected the stories to be the same then you should change that perspective right now. Through out the game you get to play as two characters; Ellie and Abby. Whilst Ellie's story is dim and full of hatred, driven by rage into making suicidal decisions, Abby's is fueled by love and mainly regret. This game brings a closer look at an already devastated world, it's about death and sorrow, the people within a torned world and how they live through it. Compared to the first game where you discover a torn world and how to live in it. So obviously this game is far different story wise. And personally I loved the story.
Gameplay is far more versatile in Part II, this ability to do so much more allows for a lot more fun. Whilst the combat is repetitive just like in the first game, the introduction of new tools be it a new ammo type, craft-able or weapon, increases your creative ways to murder. Overall I found the gameplay in this game a lot more fun than the first, especially a specific encounter which is possibly one of my favourite gaming moments.
The atmosphere of this game is impressive, the first one was so disturbed yet beautiful, and this game does a great job of reinstating that and improving it. To be honest, I thought I wouldn't be scared by this game (seeing as I'm already accustomed to the world) but there are so many tense moments that leave you fearing for your life. This game is a cinematic masterpiece, from beautiful sunsets to dark interior building to raging fires, if there is anything truly incredible about this game it is the visuals.
The music in this game is just as empty as the first, giving it the exact same feel. One lonely instrument. Seeing as guitar plays such a heavy role in this game every piece played on guitar is symbolic of (spoilers). Music always kicks in at the right time, to set a scene, to increase tension, it's so absorbing you don't even realise the music is even there, and thats why I think the sound design is amazing.

I think this game is definitely worth playing

What I say in this review will be nothing much different than other creators and honest reviewers have stated. This game pissed me off, but i also thoroughly enjoyed playing it at the same time. The graphics are stunning, easily one of the best looking games from the ps4 with only a title like red dead 2 coming close. The game play, though nearly identical to the first game, was enjoyable for me. I loved the first game so much not only for it's incredible story and character development but I enjoyed the game play as well. It's simple, but fun. Repetitive, but never really got boring for me, I loved it. So the visuals and the game play were incredibly enjoyable for me. What ruined the game for me, and so many other people, was the abysmal storytelling. The premise of the story is not what i'm solely mad at either. It's the way and sequence they told the story that was laughable.
Killing Joel is something i feel could certainly be done, i almost expected it. But to do it so early, with no build up or setting of the story line, WHY? Playing as Abby as a unknown character didn't anger me at first because i thought they would interlace the story lines side by side so that we could build each character into the way we could care and love each of them. But the game brings you to a climax with the story of Ellie, making us hurt for her and HATE everyone that was a part of Joel's killing. I enjoyed the murder of each of Abby's friends, and I was hoping that a fight would entail to kill Abby right in the theater and end the game. But no, they throw you back to the beginning of the game and force you to grind though another 10-12 hours playing as the character you hate the most! I don't care about this person, I hate this person! I want her to die I don't care about her or her friends well being. Then they try to change her perception from being an **** by saving those kids. But it's far too little, far too late. They absolutely ruined the entire game with not only the forcing of Abby on you, but the way they do it as well. Then while you think they've salvaged up whatever ending they may have left with Ellie able to be happy with Dina and her child, they rope you into another few hours on a mission that only lengthens and ruins the story even more. Not only revoking you of the death you desire of Abby, but stealing any sort of happiness Ellie may have left. Leaving you feeling empty inside, the whole game feeling pointless. Just to wrap up I've seen some people upset at the fact that Ellie is gay and that the scar child is trans.
There are some little parts in the story that baffled me by it's unnecessary placement, but others i felt were warranted. I feel like Ellie being gay was a good idea, before the trailer came out I figured she would be anyhow. I don't mind the trans placement with the child. I feel like they should've maybe made him a bit older to give more certainty to his choice, but in the context of the story it makes sense. He and his sister became outcasts because of his choice, and that's what brings them to Abby and poses them against their own people and I thought it was interesting. The sex scene though, totally out of left field and unnecessary. It is only even a thing for a few minutes in the next scenes and I feel only put in to make the story seem even more adult. But to put that on top of characters I couldn't care less about, and towards the end of a story I only want to wrap up, it wasn't needed.
I give this game a 4 solely because of how much I enjoyed going through the mobs as Ellie, trying to get revenge for Joel. This game could've been so much better and after years of waiting it is an utter disappointment. At this point they should've just kept it alone with the first game, at least it left the story at a better place than this.

    They ruined the franchise TLOU.
The game TLOU was based on the bond between Joel and Ellie, and this second part ripped the story by making a LGBT game.
Politics should leave video games alone. This game has good graphics and an excellent post-apocalyptic environment but it is not the game of the year. IT IS NOT THE BEST GAME OF 2020. Look, I wouldn´t mind if Ellie turned up to be L,
