If they wanted to write a story about a generic revenge story, they could’ve created a new IP, but instead, they choose an easy way out and build on top a story that should’ve ended 7 years ago.

    - Poor boring gameplay
    - Flat characters
    - Bad scenario (with huge plot holes and endless coincidences)
    - Parasitising on TLOU Pt. 1

Graphic pure and beau, but this is a cinematic story, if narrative bad - this aspect doesn't matter. God bless this 3d-designers, crunches that u paid - cost nothing.

I want to point my middle finger deeply to ND, for delivering a game which destroyed one of the most loved and shared stories of the entire gaming industry.

Whenever I thought about Last of Us, what came to my mind was a beautiful delivered story about a man and a girl, who let me be part of their amazing story.

Ellie made Joel find a reason to love his life again, he found a reason to be alive, to live and find love .
This is what part 1 delivered.
    What did part 2 deliver?

Revenge, lots of revenge, and in the end they throw it away and tell you it's a part of "growing". That revenge brings nothing.

One guy tries to kill an innocent girl, he decides about life and death, and then another guy decides about this guys life and death. After that the daughters from both of them do the same again but in the end they decide to let it go, because they won't get their fathers back. And that route took us 35 hours of redundant fights against zombies, wolfs and scars, over and over.

    Gameplay 10/10
    Graphic 10/10
    Story -1000/10

Fu** Naughty Dog, you broke my heart and I will never forgive you. This game doesn't exist at all for me. The story endet with Part 1

The 4 points is because it's a technical masterpiece. Gameplay is pretty much the same with small improvements here and there but the graphics detail, the soundtrack, level design are fantastic. Kudos to the technical team here. You guys knocked it out of the park. Those 6 points are lost because the story and its writing is the most important aspect of TLOU and it has failed at just about every point here.

In short, technical masterpiece but story-driven game gets low score because of its horrendous, hamfisted story.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was introduced to The Last of Us after the remastered release on the PS4 and it changed my gaming preferences to this day. When I completed that game I knew it was amazing, and felt the same way about the creative team at Naughty Dog. From there I went into the Uncharted series, and again, each title was a home run right up until the recent end, which left everyone feeling great.

Now I get the fact that TLOU is set in a much darker world, and that "happy endings" isn't what it is all about. As a big fan of The Walking Dead (which clearly Neil is as well based on how he stole from them) I get that sometimes, in order to keep it "real" we have to lose some of our favorites, however in this case it should have been Naughty Dogs team that had their heads on pikes for the decisions they came up with, that have alienated a huge part of their fan base.

They can try to twist the facts to meet their narrative all they like, but at the end of the day they completely **** the bed with this one. SPOILER WARNING

Killing Joel is essentially killing Daryl Dixon or Rick Grimes; you just don't do it. If you are going to, you had better do it right and for a reason that moves the story. When it comes to beloved characters like these, there has to be a level of respect shown as well. Naughty Dog did not do anything to justify Joel's death and at the end of the day it was more for shock value which, thanks to the spoilers, had none.

There are so many moments in the game where it can't get out of its own way that it would take too line to list them all. One of the biggest though was when we are playing as Abby. We have to get to a hospital to get meds to save a patient and after an hour long mission, we are successful, only to see the patient killed off in the next scene. WTF?!?! Why did you waste my time with that STUPID time consuming journey for absolutely NOTHING? Now you can argue that she used her last gasp to save Abby but still and all, that was a huge waste of time.

Not to be outdone, that leads us to the ending. Ellie, who for over 20 hours has been hunting Abby to avenge Joel, has Abby submerged under water, and as Abby is about to be drowned, Ellie lets her go instead. WHAT?!?!?!

Naughty Dog had my blind faith and trust due to their past track record; that is all gone now. This abomination should have been aborted and I'm surprised the box doesn't have a rainbow flag on it. I couldn't care less about their being gay characters in the game, but the idea that you are trying to argue for LGBTQ equality in the post apocalypse, where murder is legal in the absence of law enforcement, is hilariously bad!

"It can't be for nothing..." and yet, in the end, it all was.

I've never felt such heightened emotion while playing a game that I'm quite literally screaming out due to stress, tension or fear, and my deep love for the characters causing me to cry. Neil Druckmann and the rest of the team at NaughtyDog really have mastered the art of modern video game-making.

They have accomplished something that is astonishing in today's overcrowded landscape of entertainment media, where it feels as though everything has been done before, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to stand out among the infinite resources we can choose from in this golden age of content.

Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson return as Joel and Ellie, expertly portraying their respective characters in a performance that feels deep, rich and meaningful. Johnson, especially, really cranks it up a notch as an older Ellie, and I would go as far as to say Johnson is more talented her field than many popular actresses working in TV and Hollywood today.

I think it's a remarkable achievement to introduce new characters that aren't dry, annoying or just not really worth caring for. It's an all too common problem in film, TV or games that I think we've accepted as normal and to be expected when sequels and spinoffs are made. However, I did find myself happy to see Jesse, anticipating interactions between Dina and Ellie and found myself growing to like Abby despite outright hatred toward her to begin with, which is not an easy feat.

Everything in this game is oozing with genuine effort - nothing is lazy. The graphics, game play combat and above all the story is phenomenal. I'm blown away by what the team at NaughtyDog have been able to take from the first game, and improve and build upon it.
The story is what seems to be making or breaking this experience for many people. It upsets me to see so many negative reviews when the years of dedication, love and care to create this game is so starkly evident.
I really think that if you believe that the story was poor, you aren't understanding it in the slightest. You're missing the mark and failing to see the point completely.
Many of the critic reviews do an excellent job of illustrating this point. Go and read some of their reviews.

To give this game anything between a 0 and a 4 is downright wrong, because even if one did understand the story, and it truly wasn't for them, then fair enough - but you can't deny that everything else that makes up this game was near perfect.

I'm also terribly disappointed in those reviews that stated the reason they were giving the game a bad score was because they were having 'politically correct, feminist propaganda' shoved down their throats. How will we ever have LGBT+ and/or strong female leads represented in anything if angry bigots shoot it down in the first instance, complaining that they have to see someone different to them on their TV screen? It's actually disgusting to see in the year 2020 just how many people are still stuck in the past.

I know this phrase 'subverted my expectations' is so overused and practically a joke but it really did just that. I was always on my toes, unable to predict what was going to be throw at me next. I had a phenomenal experience all throughout the game, but somehow the last few hours just elevated the entire game 10-fold, wrapping it up so fantastically. I teared up a lot.

I wouldn't be able to say whether ''Part I is better then Part II'' or vice versa, because they both have completely different feels to them that it becomes impossible to compare the two. I think the change in mood is down to the nature of the respective stories. Part I is about (fatherly/daughterly) love, but toward the very end it becomes what the second instalment is about - the (arguably horrid and wrong) things you do for someone you love unconditionally.

I think you could choose to interpret that change in feel as a positive or negative, personally, I think it's a good thing. It needs to have a point of differentiation, something that lets everyone know it isn't it's predecessor. Or else, we end up experiencing something that feels like a cut and paste of the first one, with a few things jumbled around which happens far too often in the entertainment industry because it's safe and profitable. I think it's incredibly brave and commendable for NaughtyDog not to rely on the success of the first instalment, and it definitely pays off.

The Last Of Us Part II is a worthy continuation of a modern classic, and passes the game from being Joel's to Ellie's story of survival and love smoothly, even though they are beautifully and heavily intertwined with each other.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The only good part of the game is graphics, so big thumbs up to the graphics team, you are the only reason I'm giving the game any points... And by the way, I'm sick and tired of people saying "You need to grow up" or "You're not intelligent enough to understand the meaning of the game"... These are the only things fan boys can bring up against negative critics, and actually they are the ones that just simply can't accept the fact that the game is full of mistakes, on almost every level. Don't get me wrong, I am a big Naughty Dog fan, I LOVE the Uncharted series too, and I absolutely loved the first episode of the Last of Us, and it's always going to be one of my favourite games, but at this point I just wish Part 2 was never even made. But then again, this is only MY OPINION, if there are people that actually like it, I'm honestly happy for it and wish them a lot of fun playing it, but as for me I will just pretend that there is only one Last of Us game.

Edit: After submitting it I realized that this is not a "proper" review where I say my opinion on the game and mention the things I didn't like and why didin't I like them, but everything that I could say about it was already written by about 70% of the negative reviews on this page, but here is a quick going through: I understand, that this is not a "typical fun" game, where everyone survives and the game ends with a happy ending, and at some point I even like it, it just makes it even more realistic. (Now, if you are going to keep reading, you'll run into some spoilers, so if you don't want anything spoiled, click away!).

I think it's safe to say that Joel was almost everyone's favourite (or second favourite, after Ellie) character. At some point I even understand why they killed him, because this is the "motivation" for Ellie to go on a revenge mission. But what's bothering me is that they did it in such a disrespectful way, and also in like the first hour of the game (or second, depending on how fast you play it). But let's just say that even this can be understandable (not for me though). After this, at a certain point in the game, you have to play with Abby... Even if you somehow can manage to gather the strength to continue playing the game, you are most likely going to do so with absolutely no fun. I know it was said that "this game is not about fun", but there shouldn't even be parts that players absolutely hate, there is a big difference in those two things. Even if they made an explanation about Abby's story, to make it understandable why she did what she did, most players won't really care, because they will look at her with hatred and will have absolutely no fun playing with her nor any willing to learn how to like her character. And just the whole story, about Ellie going through hundreds of men and women, killing all of them just so that she can get to Abby, and then in the end when she could take her revenge she actually leaves her alive, it just makes the whole game pointless, because everything you did, everything Ellie end everyone else has lost was for absolutely nothing.

Again, this is only MY OPINION, You don't have to feel the same way, as a matter of fact, if you feel otherwise, I'm genuinely happy, but don't start with all that "You don't like the Last of Us Part 2, so you must be an idiot, who is not mature or intelligent enough to understand the story" or the "You only say bad things about it because that's what everyone else does".

Sony and Naughty dog, especially Neil druckmann should be ashamed for using bots to increase the ratings. This is a complete joke of a game.
