The Issues with the game come from the fact that the story is not only bleak and depressing (imagine Alien 3) but the themes of revenge and the relativistic nature of good v evil are overdone ..

The first game was good because it took a cliche story and made it special with the beautiful characters and their relationships ..

The gameplay is basically the same and hasn’t really changed much .... This sequel is not good ..

Fairly simple story and misaligned with the plot of the first game, it just seems like they made the game with the legs.

graphics, physics, the work of designers, animators - beyond praise
fights and skirmishes became more dynamic.
What sways the plot: I'm absolutely not interested in Ellie's orientation, how the relationship between Joel and Ally has changed,
can understand, the girl grew up, teenage nihilism, etc. But, why did you have to kill your favorite character? why am I being forced to play for a killer, I absolutely do not **** her life, her feelings and experiences, I am not physically pleased to play for this disgusting giant woman, it's the second day of the game for Abby and I don’t want to continue the game.

Thanks to those people who worked on the game. screenwriters sucks

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was excited for Last of Us 2 since its announcement as i enjoyed the first one greatly. I played this game and i have never been let down so much in my life. This is all because of the poorly written story. All of the deaths felt rushed or dry and the ending of game had no pay off and just made you felt bad because you played the game.

Abby had potential to be a good character but forcing you to play her after you just watched her kill a favourite character is awful. You get zero interaction between Joel and Ellie in the actual game as he is dead within the first hour of the game.

The best scene in the game is actually a flashback that involves no combat or story progression with showing Ellie receiving a birthday gift of a tour of a dinosaur / space museum from Joel. This scene is what LOU2 should've been but it was tainted by poor writing and character deaths.

The game makes you feel bad by making you hunt down and kill the people who killed Joel and then make you play as Abby to showcase the pain you've caused. But this doesn't matter as they don't bring these characters up ever again. Manny was one of Abby's best friends and he gets sniped by Tommy and killed, he is never mentioned ever again by Abby. It also pulls this pregnancy card by making you feel bad because you killed a pregnant girl, even though she resisted when you asked her to point on a map and attacked you.

Jesse was a fun character who cracked multiple jokes at all times with a bright personality and was a good adition to the cast, but was wasted drastically as he had like 6 scenes in the game and is killed off because he ran through a door and shot dead instantly. He is then forgotten like he never existed and only ever mentioned once again after him dying like 40% through the story on a **** piece of paper which is just focused on Dina.

Dina was a good character which also was ruined by being placed in the back. She comes with you to hunt down Abby but mentions she is pregnant and is told to stay still in the Theatre and uses a radio to track down Abby via her friends. It makes sense to stay put but just sleeps after that and gets no screen time until later on where She and Ellie in a generic "Happy Ever After" scene where they get their own farmland and house with a great view away from all of the evils and society. But she just ditches Ellie when she goes back to hunt down and finish abby.

Then Issac the leader of the Wolfs just dies, accomplishing nothing to the story other than to make it understandable how the Wolfs lost the attack to the scars because they had no leader. The two scars where okay characters but where ruined by little screen time they show up late into the story and get a good story arc by saving abby from other scars, then its ruined by the child scar getting upset and running back home to his mom, despite running away from him cause he mom tried to kill him.

The last scenes shows another group which uses others as slaves by pretending to be Fireflies. Abby and Lev are caught and forced into slavery for 2 months. Ellie hunts them down to this area and attacks the compound to hunt down and kill Abby. She finds her but she is very skinny and basically on the brink of death to make you feel bad for Abby and then they fight each other with Abby restraining from fighting but being forced to by Ellie. Ellie then wins the fight and is about to kill Abby and decides not to because Revenge is bad, then lets her go and loses two fingers in the fight and heads back home to find Dina has left her and She can't play guitar anymore.

The combat was ok. It was good but certain set pieces are poorly balanced on the Hardest Difficulty. Such as the area where you must wait for Lev took rescues from a horde which attacks in you in a locked room before they bust down a ambulance window. If you are low on supplies this room gives you little to none to survive which makes it impossible and can be a soft-lock. Later combat sections are just large open fields with large amount of patrolling enemies which drop the FPS drastically and force you to kill to proceed but on the Hardest Difficulty this is frustrating because you can't aim precisely against large groups of enemies with a PS4 controller.

To put this shortly. This game feels like everybody worked their butt off to produce an amazing game but they were forced to follow bad directions from poor story telling by N. Druckman. This game does everything but the story really well and since this game is all about the emotional story which was what made the LOU1 a masterpiece. It kills the game and makes it a chore to play with no pay off.

The story was just terrible, was i supposed to feel bad for abby for the ten minutes she was a child. For one thing i did not like when she killed joel in the most coward way of killing him like seriously people save you and you shoot him in the knee. Secondly the fact that druckmans self insert was a complete piece of trash spitting on him did not help. The graphics were beautiful and audio was fine. game play was a little more smoother than the first but was repetitive and got boring. Ellie was alright, her blood lust felt real but when it came to the end it was just a complete hot mess. All in all it was a disappointment. Expand

I am, in this particular case, grateful for those leaks and the automatic cancellation of my preorder. They allowed me to choose to instead watch this game from beginning to end and therefore not give them my $60.

There are so many bad and incoherent things and moments in this sequel. From the awful writing and beyond. There are some moments in this game that give me a heartbreaking glimpse at what could have been.

TLOU has no sequel. It stands alone.

Yes, I understand that Joel had to have consequences for the action he did for the first game by saving Ellie but what type of consequence is killing him in the first 2 hours by the most pathetic way to die as if they hurried to kill the most liked character in the game. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Everything Naughty Dog built up in the first game was thrown away in the 2nd. Joel dies at the beginning without us even playing as him once. Missed opportunity but I got over it. We play as a character we have no emotional attachment to as well nor care for. The revenge story begins...I can deal with it. We then get what felt like a symbol female empowerment with the lesbian scenes and muscular female character. I can deal with it. We then are reminded of what Tommy is doing for revenge yet never get the opportunity to play as him. Another missed opportunity. Dina announces she's pregnant. How does this affect the story? Why even add this part? Nonetheless, the first half of the game was bearable. The 2nd half of the game is a different story. We are forced to again play as the character we do not care for. There is nothing the developers can do for us to sympathize for Abbie yet they force her story on us anyways. Jessie dies in an instant. Why even have scenes of him if he goes out like that? The least the writers could have done was instead of being fatally shot, have him hurt enough to fall to the ground and tell Ellie to tell Dina that he's sorry he can't be there for Dina since he knew she was pregnant before Abbie finishing him off with a gun to the head. But no, he is taken out with a snap of a finger. Tommy goes out the same way presumably. Again, we are forced to play the character for most of the game we do not care nor are emotionally invested it. After wasted hours playing as her, still do not care. It was during this point I just wanted to stop playing this garbage. She lets Ellie live AGAIN. Fast forward, we find out Tommy is alive. That was literally the only positive about the 2nd half of the game but now he's disabled with a missing eyes and a limp resulting in most likely no future in a potential 3rd game (I don't want one after this mess). Do we really want revenge after this? We were put through being forced to play a character I don't care for and lets Ellie live TWICE already. If the developers just had to FORCE the story, give us the option between choosing Abbie's story and Ellie's and I guarantee you, it would be unanimous that players choose Ellie and only choose Abbie because they're curious, not because they care for her character in any way, shape, or form. Awful game and it's generous I'm giving this game a 3 out of 10. Expand

Un juego que prometía mucho se fue al carajo gracias a las inclusiónes, a una historia sin sentido, juego lineal y por darle a Joel una muerte ridicula. Solo espero que Naughty Dog no cometa el mismo error con Uncharted 5

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The last of us part 2. oh god, alright. story wise, trash. everything else (graphics, gameplay, sound, voice acting, ect) amazing. hense the 2. for me, the reason i enjoyed part 1 was because of its increable story, compelling plot, and characters. having a dude who lost his daughter, through horrible eevnts, almost lose a second one was compelling, and felt human. on the contrary, we have a angsty revenge story. not to mention the fact they killed the best character of the game, joel, just like that. abby seemed like such a interesting villain, with her backstory and all. but it was ruined by the writting trying to make us think she was right to kill joel, just completly contradicting what the first game had worked so hard to do. thats bad writting. also why in the heck would joel trust a random girl he just met? he spent the first game not trusting anyone, and that was why his bond with ellie was so special, thats why saving her was so special. cons over, on to the pros.

    1. the game play
the fight scenes, and npc's felt more real
    2. the graphics
i mean this one is a given 3. sound
jeezous the music, amazing. i could listen to the osts forever
    4. voice acting
this is where i have to give major props. i mean just listen to the running moan in agony, it sounds like they are in real pain. ashley mever disapoints, hearing ellie scream as she watched joel be murdered in front of her hurt me on a level i didnt think a game could.
    5. the monsters
oh my god the monsters. i still cant get over the part at the begining where ellie fell through the ceiling and ellie almost got eaten by a clicker (then the clicker was shot by dina but no one cares about dina) 6. graphics
imma say it again. this game made me forget this wanst live action. every little detail was amazing. i am not at all hating on this game, i actually enjoyed a lot of the scenes, (mostly the flash backs with joel, sorry but ellie and joel are just too cute together)

in conclusion 2/10. sorry but story is very important to me

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
