But to a fan of Last of Us from 2013, the more important part of the game wasn't that.. the most important part of the game was the story, how joel, a widower who has to see his daughter die because a military guarding the virus area, starts to find a new daughter in ellie... and ellie finally finds a family in joel.
    They screwed up not just killing joel, but making his death as stupid as a kid can imagine... I supposed they have writers or people that makes millions of dollars to make a good storie, that was Neil Druckmann said, that they would take care of the story of the game and the characters, and then you have this... And that without speaking about the end.
    They **** up the story, the most important thing about we, the gamers of the last of us, most love... and I hope naughty dog do something about it.    … Expand

    Overrall a terrible and extremely boring game. Look at it for the graphis but stay far far away from playing it

    Just because you don't like the story, you can't explain the problem precisely. TLOU is not a game where the ending is changed by choice, but a story that flows in a straight line. There was no explanation at all, and it was really uncomfortable playing the game because of the selfishness that changed the part I took for granted in Part 1 at will.     This game lacks any creativity or real purpose. This 2020 game has the same combat system as the one that game out 7 years ago. That shouldn't even be possible. The story is absolutely abysmal, they pretty much disrespected their OWN characters. Would reccomend you skip on this one.

    Masterpiece! This is a tour de force video game for Naughty Dog. A perfect aurevoir to the Playstation 4. The writing, design and gameplay are master class. If you have an appreciation for artistic vision and masterful technical execution, look no further. It almost seems impossible to fathom how this game isn't running on a next generation console.

I was a huge fan of the first installment and have waited for 7 years almost to play the sequel.

    I cannot believe that the writer of TLOU and TLOU2 are the same. The difference in quality and brilliance is just too drastic. If anything TLOU2 feels like a badly written fan fiction. The characters ironically are acting way out of character and are not likeable either. Due to the writing you care so little about the new characters Naughty dog, or specifically Neil tries to shove down your throat. It fails miserably to antagonize the original protagonists in a way that the player is left frustrated and disappointed.

    The game kills one of the most relatable protagonists in gaming in the first 2-3 hours of the game and I would love to say it does it in a very nicely written way but it just doesn't. The player is left frowning when the event occurs because it feels rushed, weird and frankly just awkard. After that you embark on a revenge quest which also is horribly written and the new protagonist feels incredibly unrelateable and a chore to play. You constantly miss the bond between Ellie and Joel which we loved in the first game and wished the game would've given you more post time skip Ellie and Joel gameplay, but that option was stupidly taken away in the first 2 hours.

    Since when did the player care about the protagonists sexuality? The sequel tosses away everything what made the first game a joy to experience and replaces it with Neil Druckmanns personal agenda which in my opinion is a total no go. Can we please keep politics out of game and make games have people come together instead of dividing? Noone wants to play as Abby, noone cares about Dina. We wanted Joel and Ellie and not some badly written lesbian romance fan fiction.

    My final verdict? Just pretend Last of Us ended with the first. I can put my money on the fact that Neil did not write Last of Us 1, the difference in direction and quality is just too drastic.

    Also,

    consider the fact that Naughty Dog under Neil made 70% of their talented; original developers quit. Let that sink in. Most of the people who worked on games that made Naughty dog games exceptional are no longer part of it. Neil never addressed the overworking, salary-witholding of their staff and pretended everything was roses which I found incredibly arrogant as he clearly thinks that it's not worth discussing or giving a statement about, which in actuality is. Naughty dog is no longer the game studio we all used to love, it has been hijacked by people with an obvious agenda who try to force their ideoligy down your throat.    … Expand

    The story was horribly cliched, none of the context made any sense at all. You kill almost 30 people on your way to get to Abby and then let her go. Dialogues were amateur at best. The ending was non sensical, the story just pretended to be deep and edgy. The pacing is unbearably slow so much so that it is actually boring at times and frustrating. No improvements at all in the gameplay from the first part. Adding a jump button is not an improvement in my opinion. Overall not recommended.    … Expand

    i'm literally shaking and crying right now, i can't believe i waited 7 long years for this game and this was the result. I really wish to know what in the world went wrong during development, the story is so bland and edgy for no reason always going for shock value over a cohesive story.     Helps of course that the game itself is fantastic so far. Not that I ever expected anything different, it's Naughty Dog.

    This game discards of established and loved characters just for the shock value while new and unknown characters are shoved down your throat. From a story perspective this game is inferior to the first one.

    The story , the character and the world have evolved . The bleak and dark world gives you the motivation to fight in every action sequence. I cannot stress how good the game is.

    Graphics are brilliant and there is a great attention to detail by ND. I request all the haters to play the game first before just downplaying years of efforts put in by thousand of designers, coders and developers.

    The best game of any game I've played. Beautiful history, graphically total mastery. A system of fighting, dodging, something wonderful, great dialogues. This game is a masterpiece.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
