    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Here goes my review after playing it for a long time . The first game was really good, and the second too. What makes me give it a 0? How to mess up a whole history that has been developed for many years in a couple of minutes. The game play, the graphics , places , characters, and everything was perfect for me , but it’s hard to see how you can mess a game so much just changing the merely history , just for that , all the hard work of animators , creators and more stuff comes to the trash just for a bad ending and I wasn’t expecting it to be a happy ending , but either the worse ending I have ever seen , I might not be able to understand the true meaning to this ending but for me it was crap, I tried to defend this game from a long time but after this, all that I can say is “ buy it if you want to spend some couple of hours enjoying a good gameplay and not caring about the history then buy it . But if you are looking for a master piece history then please make your self a favor and don’t buy it… Expand

    This game is incredible. The story, the animations and graphics, the gameplay, the acting... I could go on. The only issue I had with it is there was a little bit too much world building through reading notes. It sometimes felt if you wanted to experience the full story you had to stop your progression through the game every few steps so you can stop and read a note

    A $60 lie buy a gaming studio. Loved the first game. I was iffy about a sequel, but trusted a studio that has made countless favorites of mine to do the same here. The story was so atrocious, and goes against everything the first game did. I couldn’t even finish playing it, and went to watch end clips online, and it was exactly what I figured would happen.     And guess what?These 2 never stopped till they got revenge.

    Beautiful game, the devs and technical guys did a great Job but you don't pay 69 Euros for this game to look at the environment, these kind of games are all about the story which is absolutely horrible in every way and doesn't make any sense especially the ending, if you're a fan of the first one DON'T PLAY THIS !!!

    the story of this game is completely garbage, the fact that this is supposed to be a story based game yet the story itself is the worst thing about it is why its just not worth it. The 2nd half where you play as Abby is trash as she's just an unlikeable character all around which doesn't make the game fun. Also wtf was that ending?

Did they really think they could introduce us to a new character/narrative that is SOO good that we forget what we fell in love with in the first game and are willing to forgive the destruction of that. If Neil/ND are actually going to take their own 'moral of the story' from this game, then there shouldn't be a Part 3 or any humans dying in the hands of our protagonist in any of their games from now on.     Ellie was the best part of this game.

    Joel's death and showing him as a trusting person who is willing to help others is not true to his character and this game ruined everything that was great about the first one.

    I cant help but feel this game was more about virtue signalling then paying respect to the gamers who waiting years for this sequel.

    The above results in a bad story and characters with incongruous motivations.

    Which means that the game, as far as the story goes, is the opposite of the first part, it doesn't arrive.

    After such a masterpiece from the the last of us, I never thought they could **** it up as badly as they did. This was one of my most anticipated games of this year but it turned into the most disappointing game of the last couple of years. Never again will I preorder anymore naughty dog games. Wait for the release and reviews from TRUSTED CRITICS and public reviews before buying.

Upon further inspection however, you’ll find that while the game does have good animations (I’ll give it that) the GI is a baked solution, that honestly looks dated. Speaking of dated, the polygon count/detail in The Last of Us Part 2 looks like it’sTotal trash... I would say the graphics are this game’s only saving grace, but even would be a lie...     A beautiful story told through the intricately designed gameplay, which makes your heart pounding loudly. Both sides of the story ring true designed symmetrically and blow away. The hardest thing is to stop submitting to the violence.

    The gameplay is spectacular (unrivaled as far as an action adventure game). If you love being in the universe, you'll love this game. Even if you won't like the story, buy this game. The physics and mechanics are completely 10/10 as far as I'm concerned.

Joel's decision at the end of the last game is declared fundamentally WRONG, and he's a bad person who needs to make it right. No profound moral dilemma, just a hamfisted message about the "cycle of vengeance", and a depressing one at that. Druckmann was allowed a little too much creative freedom, and as a result, the game doesn't know what it wants to be. It tries to do several things at once, and fails intensely at all of them. Naughty Dog has broken their consistent cycle of quality, and sh*t the bed in one of the biggest franchises in
    AAA gaming. The ending leaves WAY too much open to interpretation, making it impossible to predict the likelihood of a sequel. If they do make a third game, I hope they steer far away from what they've done here! 1 OUT OF 10! Joel deserved better!

    Post Script: Just remembered all the early advertisements for this game, and how prominent Joel's character was in them. We were all lead to believe that Joel would be very important to this next game, and Ellie's motivation would be the death of Dina. Naughty Dog literally LIED in their advertising.     It looks and sounds beautiful, theres no doubt about that. The reason why I give such a low score is beacause this is the biggest disappointment possible, this is not a sequel of the first game, rather a spin off that destroys the thing we all loved the most about the first game.     This is a stupid game with a lousy story, and dont say amazing graphics i have played way better looking games on a PC the plot is as bad as call of duty infinte warfare , the concept of this is hey nathan drake killed a mercenary so lets make the mercenaries daughter kill drake.     Considering how this franchise has done its best to nurture a relationship between its two main characters, this trainwreck of a game is a blatant slap in the face of the fans. The beautiful graphics can't make a bad written game enjoyable. It's such a shame...

    Middle ground: gameplay - it contributes to the atmosphere yet at times is very repetitive

    Cons: Writing

    First off, the whole premise of the game feels wrong. At the end of 1, we`re left with two questions. How`s Ellies and Joels relationship going to develop and what about the cure. Both do not play a part in 2.

    Their relationship evolves through flashbacks, which are more about Ellies journey (clinging to revenge + forgiving Joel for his lie and maybe herself for accepting it). To me they lacked weight and emotion bc Joel was already dead.

    The cure doesn`t matter at all. Why didn`t the remaining fireflies take the notes about the surgery with them? Is Abbys dad the only doctor left in the world? Mel could have tried. If sacrificing herself was so important to Ellie, why did she go back to Jackson instead of trying to locate the remaining Fireflies - after travelling back to Boston all by herself?

    The story evolves through various conveniences and plot holes: Why is the gate open, when Joel, Tommy and Abby ride for her friends. A hole in the fence, so that Ellie can slip through just in time to watch Joel die. Why is Mel allowed to go on a mission, considering she`s pregnant and humanity is dying out? Why does Abby take Yara with her to go after Lev? She only got one arm, just went trough the amputation and is a huge liability. Etc.

    People acting out of character: Joel and Tommy giving away information to armed strangers, when Joel would`ve killed Henry and Sam in 1 and could smell an abush from a mile away. Ellie screaming Joels name when she finds the hutt but doesn`t jet know who`s inside. Abbys group not guarding the house when seconds ago there was a horde outside. Or them letting Ellie and Tommy go, when the WLF sure has a habbit of letting people off the hook easyly.

    Trying to depict a brutal and gritty and therefore real world, yet everybody shooting at you does have unlimmitted ammo, you can get all wet but your gear still works, the body types of Abby and fat-man-slaver at the end in a world where nobody gets enough food, or your attack-dog usually going straight after every Scar (i.e. Lev and Yara in the aquarium) but can still be sneaky silent, when you go into stealth mode yourself.

    Trying to make the player feel guilty by having NPCs shout out names when you kill their comrades is pathetic, bc you get forced to do so plenty of times. The gamplay doesn`t change at all and therefore doesn`t reflect Ellies or moreso Abbys realization that violence isn`t always the way to go.

    The structure of the game is the worst part of it: It should have been about Abby and her crew. Getting to know them and building up an emotional attachement. You should have revealed that they`re hunting Joel somwhere in the middle or right at the end. That would`ve created conflict for the player. Instead you introduce Abby as Joels killer and expect the player to sympathise with her afterwards. In about 10 hours, when we had a whole game growing used to Joel and Ellie.
    I wonder why people don`t like her.

    Speaking of Abby: To me she`s a sociopath. Not only does she kill Joel, she tortures him (he himself did no such thing) and then proceeds to play with dogs and joking around with Manny as if nothing happend. No remorse.

    One could argue, that she rescues Yara and Lev to attone for her deeds, but it isn`t made clear. A game is a visual experience. Leaving that much up to interpretation is fine for books or if you have a capable live action actor. What`s your message worth when people don`t get it? What`s the moral here? Go brutally murder sb and never pay the price for it. As long as you`re nice to some random kids you`ll be fine (losing her friends is no punishment, bc the player didn`t spend enough time with them to get invested).

    Same goes for Ellie. It`s an internal struggle about forgiving Joel and herself, yet she never earns that. Hunting Abby, killing thousands, giving up on her family. Even at the end, when she travells a considerable amount of miles and has time to rethink, she still wants to kill Abby. But the player is to believe that an image of Joel playing guitar is enough to let Abby go free, when Ellie never showed enough doubt along the way.

    If I´d be fair, I´d give it a 5/10. Maybe even a 7/10 if it wouldn`t be a sequel to 1. But for striking down youtubers left and right, for proudly stating you wanted to make a controversial game and then whining when there`s controversy, for payed reviews, for accusing people to not like strong females or whatever kind of representation when the only thing they do is call out the flaws in your story and most importantly for false advertisement ND gets a 0/10.

    Only way this`ll turn out okay is, if there is a 3. But now it won`t be made, bc no one is going to by it.    … Expand

    immoral, stupid script. ridiculous direction. the game has a huge budget, and it can be seen (the graphics are impressive) funny attempts to tell "serious topics" without knowing how to do it. I was a fan of the studio, but that's too bad.

They kill Joel in the first 3 hours of gameplay and then force you to play as his murderer for 12 hours. Absolute thrash. Eat fast food with that money, its better for your health when compared to TLOU part 2.… Expand

    I have been waiting 7 years for this game. I already expected Joel death But NOT LIKE THIS!

    I already super depressed about HK problem and I am now in another country and looking for a job.

    I just wanted to escape the reality a bit and enjoy what Ellie and Joel facing in Part 2. Then what kind of **** you feeded me? Joel and Tommy become an Idiots, After 10 hrs playing, feel like final battle with Addy and you need me to control that **** murderer for another 10 hours? WTF?And even her story, enemy and weapon even better than Ellie? You know what, everyone dont **** care her story. We just wanted her died. NOW

    Either you are crazy, or you just think we will just accept all thing like the Joel and Tommy in the game. Even we play Addy first. The reason of killing Joel is not convincing.... remember Joel just saved her **** life.... so did the Levs. Why she kill Joel without hesitating then agaisnt her ex-friend because of Levs. It doesnt make any sense.

    And finally, Ellie already give up revenge, you force her to revenge. Kill ton of people then give up when almost killed her? WTF. And she lost everything because this revenge? How about Addy, she revenge To Joel then why story show she is “good guy” and Ellie is “bad guy”? Come on, this is the end of world! Everything is “Grey” and no right or wrong. Political correct is just bull**** in that world.

    BTW, I am gay and I am Asian. Dont use us as an excuse to cover up your ****ty story. And political correct, right? Then why make joke for asian ONLY? So Asian doesnt need political correct?

    I am from Hong Kong, I am not going to snowflake, just wondering your definition of “political correct”. Part 1 got a lot of political correct thing either like gay and lesbian. But to be honest, I dont care if Ellie is lesbian or even Joel is gay. If the story is good, they will be good. You even doesnt need to write more bull**** like part 2 to make them “correct”.

They could easily have made this game to be a spin off to the last of us, where you follow Abby and lev. For me the only characters i care about ar Joel and Ellie, nothing else matters. They kill Joel and the make Ellie very unlikeable. Not to mension all the political correctness garbage they have to put in the game.
    The graphics are beautiful and the motion capture is awesome, but for me they have completely destroyed the franchise! i am out.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.
