I was very disappointed, the story is terrible and they do not give the development to the characters as it should be, and the fact of playing with the most hated character in the middle of the game and that in the end what you expected so much does not happen seems horrible to me I am going to have a bad taste in my mouth I do not recommend them

    LMAO at 50 of the 94 critics giving this game an 100 score. A story-driven game with a terrible, shallow story is not a perfect game. I've been playing games for over 20 years, if this is a perfect game then I don't want to buy new releases anymore. The story could never hold up on its own, the graphics and atmosphere can only carry so much.

    I just finished playing through this game and I have never wished I had not played a game more. The story ( in particular the ending) was terrible. I am disappointed that I got my hopes up so much for this game.

The 2020 game doesnt even give you a choice of anything .Like literally it is so tunnel, it will look like i put the worst rating because of the Joel death but its not, why do I need to play for the character that I hate?Why i cant just kill Abby lol there is even no bad ending for this charachter, like in Detroit it so flexible. Thats everything because of the Anita thanks for the ruined game. The game play is beautiful so but its not perfect like 8/10, sfx at all is very good 9/10 but the plot and the STRONG WOMEN ruins it… Expand

Half the reason for why this got good “critic” reviews (and I use that word lightly) is because of the triple A production value, the same thing that makes it so that steaming piles of **** still get good reviews. Also it’s incredibly ironic how Far Cry 5 did Christian villains better

This has been the downfall of many franchises and this one is no different. The decisions on what they put players through from watching beloved characters get smoked for no reason (and spat on by a character that is a stand in for the games creator) to forcing characters to do awful things to animals and then guilt tripping the player about it afterwards, is something that has tarnished this series beyond repair.… Expand

    As a game the last of us 2 is solid the shooting and the game mechanics feel very polished, however the story really brings down the score the blatant disrespect to established characters really hurts this game.

    I only want to say thank you to neil Druckmann for this masterpiece. Unfortunately, spoilers and bad words (from stupid people) have damaged the gaming experiences. But there’s no better word than “masterpiece” for this game. Thanks again to the naughty dog’s troupe

Me parece un juego con gran jugabilidad y gráficos, y aunque se quejen de la historia esta busca ser realista no una historia bonita, Joel tenía más que merecida la muerte ya que mato gente por su egoísmo antes que el bien común, aparte un ejemplo de que la muerte es muy natural en este juego es cuando matas a un enemigo, sus compañeros gritan, se enojan porque murió un amigo y un aliado, por lo cual buscan venganza. Los personajes de Ellie y Joel son despreciables ya que matan por su bien pero es así en ese mundo, la única forma de sobrevivir es matando, aunque digan que la muerte de Joel “no es lo que se merecía”, entonces que se merecía morir típica escena épica salvando a Ellie, no, claro que no ya que como cualquier personaje en el juego mato, robo, etc. Me pareció mucho matar a Joel así ya que es una persona ni buena ni mala, solo una persona pudo haber muerto de cualquier forma y estaría bien, por eso nos ponen en perspectiva de Abby para ver qué en ese mundo no solo hay 2 personajes o 3 o 10, sino qué hay miles y en cualquier momento pueden morir, que en cualquier momento van a dejar de seguir sus principios y van a empezar a matar, por eso este juego se me hace más realista, ya que trata temas como la venganza, que lo hace muy bien ya que todo empezó porque Joel mato a esas luciérnagas por su propio bien sin pensar en los demás, y por eso lo matan, y porque matan a Joel Ellie busca matar a los que lo mataron, exactamente eso pasaría si esta situación fuera real, el final también es bueno, aunque digan que es una mierda, ya que Ellie sabe que si mata a Abby, el niño que tenia Abby buscaría venganza, por eso el juego es bueno. La gente que no le gusto es por 2 razones, una es porque ven a Joel como un héroe un salvador y a Ellie como su compañera que siempre hacen lo correcto, pero eso no es cierto, Joel tenía más que merecida la muerte como al igual que cualquier personaje en esta saga ya que no hay buenos personajes o malos personajes, solo personajes. The narrative of enduring such a bitter environment in a somehow nonetheless wholesome relationship is immediately destroyed with the death of the original protagonist Joel. The only thematic concept or idea touched upon in the game is revenge, and if murder can be justified, or understood in certain circumstances. The story shifts from the wholesome relationship that developed in the first game, one that was ominously beautiful, although tinged with lingering bitterness, and opened many questions in the end. The relationship was relatable, and displayed how beautiful the manifestation of human affection can be between two characters who are otherwise sharply contrasted in their dispositions, and character. I cannot even mention the agenda the game pushes down your throat without people thus declaring all of my opinions null, and titling me a "bigot". Hey, remember the first game, in which Bill was gay? And how in the DLC Ellie had a lesbian relationship with Riley? I loved those games. Want to know why, because the characters, and actions meaningfully connected to the wholesome relationships portrayed in the first game, and developed different thematic ideas that the player could question. The second game doesn't do that, and it barely strays from the concept of revenge. They threw in a flimsy ending to feign a moral high-ground, and character development from Ellie -- that'd she'd grown from the violence she was inclined to. This is ridiculous from a narrative perspective. She'd never been inclined to violence, or willing to commit violence with a subsequent clear conscience. She'd broken down when talking to Joel near the hospital, following the giraffe scene; exclaiming that she felt that she should in fact die for "Everything we've been through -- everything that I've done." Remember the scene in which the AMV shot down the two civilians with the operators of the AMV looting the people, to which Ellie subsequently expressed remorse at not being able to help them? Remember when she'd saved Joel and said she'd felt sick. Think about that. She felt sick even knowing that what she was doing was saving his life. With the blossoming relationship with loose ends that needed to be tied now so detestably stripped in the second game, they had to touch upon revenge, and introduce different characters to fill the place (that left even greater plot-holes and logical gaps within the procession of the story). Joel, and Ellie's convoluted, and still relatable dispositions were stripped to more base reactions, and responses in the story that stripped their seemingly vivid personal aspects to carry on such a poorly constructed narrative. Ellie was never inclined to violence, even after a traumatic event (as after the Winter chapter with David upon almost being raped, she'd still never felt inclined to carry out a brutal mission for revenge. She did kill her attacker, and one could claim with excessive force, but she'd immediately regretted it, and demonstrated growth afterwards). They completely changed her character to fit such a tired and shallow plot, made Joel act in contrast to his decades of experience surviving against any threats, falsely advertised the game by implying that Joel would be around for a substantial period of time, and tries to virtue signal by throwing in what is assumedly a transgender antagonist (claim that those who dislike the game are transphobic, or homophobic when the game portrays a trans girl as the genuine antagonist/villain in the story. Have fun working out that paradox). Ellie goes on a brutal mission, killing multiple people now, just for her to once again at the end demonstrate that "oh killing/revenge = bad" as if that's a valid conclusion, and sufficient character development when that concept had been expressed a multiplicity of times in the first game. People wanted the relationship between father and daughter, and the rich characters. They completely missed the mark in this laughable sequel. My advice: watch the flashback segments on Youtube, they're the only redeeming narrative developments in the story, and consider those short segments the epilogue of the first game. They had to have paid the prominent figures who reviewed the game a lot to try and justify giving the game a 10/10, and putting it on the same scale as the first game, and as amazing products such as God of War 4. I wanted to believe it was prejudice against the game, and concepts that caused such a surplus of negativity. It isn't. The game is genuinely that horrid. Save yourself the $60, and the time, and steer clear from this game. I am forgetting that this game existed, and will live off of the first game, and the DLC, and maybe the flashback segments. Neil Druckmann should be fired after such a miserable destruction of a beloved story.… Expand

    I was actually kind of afraid that I might not like it due to discovering the leaks... But man, I trusted ND and they delivered!
    The environments are lush and beautiful, the animations are top notch and the atmosphere is on point. For those who haven't played it yet, I highly suggest you do. You'll either love it or hate it.

    This game was such a letdown. I was hoping that the leaks weren’t completely accurate, yet they chose to actually force you to play a character you rather wouldn’t. You don’t get the same experience as the first game, with Ellie and Joel. Such a letdown.

I want to give my specific perspective of where I am coming from, so you truly know I am not a BOT or some kind of review troll. I'm just a normal gamer that loved the first game, and wants to review the second one now.

    Me: I am a female gamer, and I greatly support LGBT/trans rights and have no issues at all with any of that kind of stuff in any game, so I want to be very clear about that point. Maybe others overly like or dislike the game because of this kind of thing, but I'm only discussing the game in as objective a way as possible.

    I would have given the first game a 9/10, I was not really into the game play a ton, but the story totally sucked me in and I fell in love with the two main characters.

    Now, let's talk about TLOU2. The game play feels about the same to me, it doesn't seem to have evolved all that much, but it was certainly good enough I think for most people. But I want to just list pros and cons of this game...

    PROS:
    The graphics are beautiful to me. I really enjoyed just exploring the world.
    Some of the visceral fighting is a little too violent for my taste, but I think it was pretty intense in a good way at times.
    I also generally enjoyed a lot of the music, and the game feels very polished with no bugs.
    I love a lot of the level designs, and had fun in both the more linear parts and when you had a little more freedom

    CONS:
    It has to be the story. It's not about specific characters and moments on their own, it's the overall tone and theme of the narrative. I know some people will rail on specific things, but I can probably tough it out and accept any one bad scene if the overall story is still good. But it wasn't. In short, I fell out of love with Ellie and never fell in love with any other character at all. The narrative is too simplistic to me compared to the nuance and subtle undertones of the first game. I feel like this story could have been told - and has been already - in so many games, shows, and movies, whereas the first game felt very unique in how the specific narrative tied together. I am really shocked the writing is this poor, it's really a huge letdown for me both in terms of plot holes and just general dialogue, etc. I feel like the first game was at a level like a real written novel of high quality and this one is more over the top pulp fiction comic book. I felt so many emotions during the first game, I felt almost nothing this time around. It just felt too over the top and bleak in a way that didn't ever connect with me. I think the Schindler's List comparison I have heard is a very poor one because in that movie I constantly felt empathy, pain, and raw emotion constantly but in this game I just felt numb to the violence and felt almost nothing emotionally. They didn't build the characters well enough to ever really care about them, and then once they start acting out, it just doesn't connect.
    Also, maybe the pure violence appeals more to men but for me it took away from the narrative.

    I think a 4/10 is a fair score given everything I experienced. I still support a lot of what I think the game was trying to do, but it just didn't tell a good story. And that's true no matter what specific scene or situation someone wants to talk about -- on the macro level, the writing brings down the game.    … Expand

    As someone who is normally a fan of Naughty Dog games and of the original Last of Us, I feel this game is a slap in the face.     I'm several hours in and so far it's leaving me exhausted... it's as though the developers are punishing me for loving the first game. Maybe releasing such a tonally bleak and misery-centric game during 2020 wasn't the best move. If you play games primarily to have fun then I suggest avoiding this one. I'm going to return my copy.     Not completed as just got today so not sure how there are so many comments putting this game down, I think the graphics are outstanding and I’m enjoying the story so far. I think the people who are complaining are people who didn’t even like the first game and went into playing this one wanting to hate it.

    The story is complete garbage. I gave 3 points for the extraordinary talent this team has. The potential is there, the graphics are true next gen and mind blowing, the acting is top notch. But the story is is the main issue I have problems with. I won't need to spoil it, go a see a full playthrough on YouTube. Thank me later.

    I knew it would push an agenda but wow.....I will be making my game choices very carefully in the future as I do not see forceful pushing, pandering and spreading views through games. I am sure Anita won't pick on this game but it is made more for the message than the game. Companies like Meta get paid to give high reviews, as we saw with Death Stranding it was a good game.     Depressing and pointless. I kind of see where they wanted to go with the story and what they wanted to achieve - circle of hatred and revenge and all that but the execution is just not there. There are games that can have a depressing story but still give you catharsis but this was not it. It was just emotional torture thru and thru, I wish I could erase this game from my memory.

Joel saves abby, joel tells strangers his name then dies by them. You search for a character(Abby) to kill but end up getting your ass beat. Ellie gets warned to not let Abby see her. Get forced fed sjw transgender stuff about a girl wanting to be a boy but her people didn't like it and weren't treating her right. You (Ellie ) find Abby and damn near drown her only to let her live. Come to an empty home not able to play the guitar well with the missing fingers. Ellie then leaves the house.     It's amazing how badly Naughty Dog were able to **** up this game. Not only did they deceive fans by fabricating parts of one of the game trailers and giving completely different idea what the game is about, they ruined the story that the first game so wonderfully set-up. Instead of getting that compelling storytelling from the first game we get dull, forcefully SJW-filled ideologies andIt's amazing how badly Naughty Dog were able to **** up this game. Theres also ridiculous amount of plotholes in the story, its just inconsistent all around.

    I loved Last of Us Part 1. Great story, compelling characters, optimisim in the face of something disastrous that occurred to society and still hunts them. This.... this is none of that. The characters from the first game are changed so radically that they act and behave nothing like them in this game. They either got a personality transplant or got lobotomized. And then we come to the 'spoilers'. Yes folks, the spoilers that leaked were correct for the most part (Abby isn't trans though, but the designers sure went out of their way to make her into quite a manly woman, and there's a sex scene with her getting it from behind that's just.... wow).

    Now, the gameplay itself is about what we had in part 1. Not a whole lot of changes (jumping was added but doesn't make much difference). Combat system is about the same, just with new and smoother animations. Honestly expected a lot more, and innovative changes to gameplay and combat, which was disappointing, it feels dated in that manner.

    The actual graphics are absolutely beautiful, and about the only very good thing about this game - I'm surprised they managed to coax that level of graphics out of the PS4

    But then we get to the actual plot and story. The worst is what they do to Joel. Completely different personality, doesn't act anything like he did in the first game, and within the first few hours, Abby, the new character (Druckman once claimed that Ellie would be the only playable character - straight up lied to us) you're forced to play for a good portion of the game, bashes his brains in with a 9 iron. That in itself made me want to quit playing - I sure as hell quit watching Walking dead when they had Negan beat Glenn's brains out with his bat. I don't understand, do these people think being edgelords with over the top violence makes something better? It doesn't, especially with all the constancy of it, and your inability to choose non-violence or to do something other than what they force you to do in the story (and then wag their finger at you about how bad your violence is!)

    Anyway, after Abby caves Joel's head in with a golf club like she's on Office Space going at a printer, you're literally forced to play as this person, which is even more sickening. Honestly, between the ultraviolence and the forced play as this character, there was only so far I could go before shutting off the game. I'll probably sell it at a loss on e-bay, because I sure ain't going to finish this garbage.

    Very disappointed in Naughty Dog, they've fallen way off since Uncharted and Last of Us 1 when it comes to character and story. Don't think I'll be buying from them again.    … Expand

I’m just one person and all I can say is that I loved the first game and I am loving this one maybe even more. The experience has been great so far and the look is stoning.     This game is great absolutely great. Graphics are phenomenal along with the story and voice acting. At first it seemed a little slow but quickly starts to pick up when they first engage an enemy group. The combat feels smooth, fast past and challenging. It hurts really deep down all the fans that spent so many hours with Joel and Ellie.. and ecperienced so much.. creating a bond with the characters even.. and I think that this game is intended to hurt the people the most so they can call it "a masterpiece". If this game is their intelectual property... DO WE NOT HAVE RIGHTS to protect our mind and well being from this sad and trafic event in gaming history? The responsible for this game existence should know that his decisions will have an impact so negative in TLOU fans lifes.. I personally I was devastated.. and didnt feel well.. and notice many players stopped it right after Joel Death part.. its overwhelming...this shouldnt be allowed for people/fans/players to experience.     Gameplay, scenery, graphics, music and sound all surpass the original. Performances and story equal to part 1, a fantastic continuation of the world. Runs flawlessly on base PS4 too

    Such a middle finger to all of the passionate fans who played the original. They tried to make us care for a character who wasn’t even in the first game who KILLS a fan favorite character.

    The writing is trash, lots of useless plot lines.
