    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The set pieces and overall improvements over the first game are amazing. You can see what hard work, dedication and a toxic work environment by a triple A developer can produce. Having said that, the overall narrative and deceptive marketing truly negates the potential of this “masterpiece.” This really could of been something special. The sloppy writing, forced plot devices and contradictory character interactions spoiled the entire experience for me. It’s fine if you wanted to shock the audience, but instead this game pulls predictable “violence begets violence” themes with no resolution in the end. Ancillary characters died at the drop of a hat, while main characters only suffer emotional scaring. There is no real lesson here besides “don’t start something you can’t finish” and that unfinished business is the game’s own story quality. Hopefully this will be a lesson as to what really is important to storytelling and what lying to a loyal consumer base gets you.… Expand

    Essa é uma prova que bons gráficos não fazem jogos bons. A história faz com que o jogo seja mais longo do que você possa imaginar, péssimo. Você torce para que o jogo acabe logo, mas ele ainda continua, como um pesadelo. Gostaria de pegar meu dinheiro de volta.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Having completed a full playthrough of the game, I'd advise you not to waste your money. Cringey dialogue, lazy writing, no payoff. There's no silver lining. No levity. The one message the game has is "violence and revenge bad" and it beats you over the head with it repeatedly, like you're a mentally challenged toddler, while pretending to be deep. The game does its very best to make you feel like a piece of **** for doing the things it forces you to do. The sounds people and animals make as you viciously beat, stab, hack, or shoot them are horribly realistic and drawn out. Your enemies' companions and the owners of the dogs you're forced to brutalize cry out in horrified, despairing anguish at their deaths. and in the end, it snatches the only possible motivation any sane person could have had for continuing to play the game after Joel's death out from under you at the very last second and just leaves you feeling disgusted and depressed. Neil Druckmann has beaten this franchise to death with a golf club and spit on its mangled corpse.

    I made this account solely to tell you how much I despise what was done to this game. This is the first time I've ever bothered to review a game, that's how pissed off this piece of trash made me.

    The heavy push for strange and out of place topics in combination with recycles game mechanics and a weak, illogical story filled with plot holes make this game a disappointment beyond belief. If you care about a good story, skip this one at all costs and spend your money on games and developers that actually care about their game

    Troppo monotonia? Ho fatto una fatica boia a finirlo, una vera tortura e devo dire che ha spezzato il legame dei fan con la saga. La narrativa è assurdamente pesante se a questo ci aggiungi la fatica che fai per farcela a non spaccare la play, è veramente dura.

    Worst story ever. Good graphics are worth nothing with a story like that. Have no words to describe the frustration of waiting 7 years for that. The only reason it is selling well is because of the first game.

If you really enjoyed the first game because of how beautiful the story was and the relationships in that story, and if you found yourself attached to the characters at all, you will NOT enjoy this game nearly as much, if at all. It’s almost like the COMPLETE FORGOT why the first the last of us was so successful and adored, and has such obsessive fans. If you’re playing this game without playing the first one then it will be moving and emotional and a nice rollercoaster. But if you are playing this game off of excitement after the first game you WILL be disappointed. I played the first one with my friends and family and we all continuously said we’d love to see Ellie and Joel to grow together. And they all said there favourite character and one of the only reasons they liked the first game was because of Joel and his relationship with Ellie, then to see him die at the start of the game completely ruins the idea of the game. It’s like going on call of duty and removing all guns from the game.

    The good parts about the game I would say are the aesthetics are beautiful and it always looks amazing walking around this game, also the flashbacks to Joel and Ellie make us remember how good the game use to be and those moments were special, also playing as Abby actually was an interesting concept to see what she had gone through as well but then to put the player through the disgusting task of having to fight and beat Ellie is an awful idea, I don’t care what anybody says it is horrendous that we have to fight against the character we’ve always loved, that along with Joel’s death crushed the ratings so low. It’s not being special and unique in the story and the way it’s played it’s just being deluded. I hope they remake it and it was all a dream and they do a story at least some more of the Ellie and Joel action we all love and are not tired of as we’ve had to wait 7 years anyway it will be amazing to get some more of it in a nostalgic way.

    After 7 years we were waiting for a worthy sequel to the masterpiece that was The last of us and what they give us is one of the worst games possible, the characters were bland and unlikeable most of the time the interactions seemed forced and cringeworthy.
    They kill Joel at the beginning of the game, how can you kill such a beloved character like that?? the Joel Allie dynamic was what made the game so great to begin with, and on top of that, we're forced to play 10h as the character who killed him? by the way, shes's one of the worst characters in videogame history not to talk about the sex scene no one wanted to see...
    The game visuals are stunning but it couldn't make up to all the flaws not even close.

    Very important character disrespected in a terrible way right after the start of the game. They used the power of the image of the character just to push us to buy the game (even more disgusting).     Gameplay wise it is very cool and fun.
    The gameplay mechanics and AI are incredible and very fun.

    But the story is so bad and the choices about the characters are so delusional that you just can't play it.
    They hunt you down through the entire game and you just can not enjoy it. I am sorry.
    I thought that I was going to leave a good review, but I felt so disrespected that I just can not.

    What were you thinking?

    I still respect all the work and effort to create this game, good job.
    But story wise.... My God. Just NO.

    I am not being nice, I know and I am sorry for that, but we are sick of being tricked into buying your trash covered in glitters and fake good ratings (we all know they are fake, we just try to trust you).
    I hope that one day you will all learn your lesson.

    A long time ago, when i watched Anita Sarkeesian break down certain tropes in games, i noticed that she complained at EVERYTHING male related, males where the protagonists, females were inept at escaping, females needed help and where there to give the male hero motivation, females were oversexualized, males lead,.....
    Even if a game was made with genders in mind by using a coin toss, as    A long time ago, when i watched Anita Sarkeesian break down certain tropes in games, i noticed that she complained at EVERYTHING male related, males where the protagonists, females were inept at escaping, females needed help and where there to give the male hero motivation, females were oversexualized, males lead,.....
    Even if a game was made with genders in mind by using a coin toss, as soon a male was there, by using Anita logic, that role could be placed by a female to do that part.
    For example, a stud main male hero would be replaced by a stunning female hero, that also creates problems so she must be boring and unapealing in looks aswell, nothing is ever perfect.
    And that lead me to think of a perfect game for her, and that is a game with no relevant males anywhere, obviously this has a few problems, you aim at the wrong demographic, the market can't take it, your game has a very difficult time to sell.

    When i saw Last of Us Part 2, i noticed an odd fixation with getting rid of the males in the game, as if they were in a rush to get the females doing their own thing, their dialogue, the romances, they didn't pay much respect to caracthers that were the core of the previous game.

    Then, i noticed the removal of certain parts in the web, you can't comment on certain aspects of the game, reviews are limited in content, they tried and still try to hide what happens to certain caracthers, who you play with and why.

    This was deliberate, they knew the game was aiming at a very niche group of ppl, instead of making a game from the ground up and anouncing the game's message, they tried to use the Last of us part 2 as a way to spread this message, you hide the content for as long as possible and you use previous iterations of the game to try and get as many sales as possible, just like mass effect andromeda uses the mass effect franchise to get a good initial start, or alien colonial marines using the alien franchise, we expect the same quality, it's only fair.

    Then recently i realized that Anita was somehow involved in this, i honestly could not believe this because i assumed no one would be crazy enough to listen to her, i was wrong.
    This game is the way it is because at every corner they had to get rid of males at any cost and then get the gears running with the female protagonists.

    This means out of 4 general opinions, you can say the game is good or not, and that the message is good or not, however, Anita, reviewers and the developers will INTENTIONALLY dismiss 2 of these, if you dislike the game, you will be tagged as homophobe, hater or that you dislike the message, for example, if you do not like the death of joel, they will say that you dislike females taking the lead in a game, that's not what you're saying but that's whey will say about you, it's intentional because they can't take criticism, if you like the message, then they will say automatically that you like the game, whcih may not be true but that's what they want because they want to sell the game and everything positive is used to do that.
    You can't win against these ppl because your opinion will go towards one of these 2 categories, the game requires an open mind but Anita and whoever followed her advices are also not open minded, criticism isn't allowed

    It's fine to have female protagonists, the issue is that you had beloved caracthers from the previous game and in this game, you don't use them that much or you don't use them at all because they get killed, it was forced, they had to push the message and they used the subtlety of a raging bull, this ends up making certain scenes nonsensical, certain dialogue scenes are awkward or confusing, you have a word like "bigot" in the dialogues, that i had to google the meaning, i'm not sure how often it is used overseas, but to me it seems like they had a grudge and had to let it out and they just had to place it in the game somehow.

    The game isn't bad, the visuals are great, so are the sounds and the atmosphere, the downsides are mainly the kinda boring gameplay because they had to pace the game combined with the fact that the game offers litle replayability, few improvements have been made to game mechanics, what worked in the past for the most part they kept and so what changed was mainly how they aproached the story and caracthers.

    Review copies are fine and all, but consumers pay for the game in order to experience it and the entire mentality is, 1st you pay, then you can review the game, this is intentional because afterwards (and it will happen) they can say "we tried this aproach on an earlier game and it sold really well", this gives power to Anita to keep doing this, over and over.

    The game is a 7/10, however, if it's a message you're trying to pass, then i'll pass my message aswell, 0/10 so that it hurts them in the right place, in the wallet, maybe this will cause the developers to atleast care to what they are doing next time.    … Expand

    The trailer was a biggest lie in my life. The game looked absolutely gorgeous and played very well on an old PS4. I wish things were different too ,no offence but they really need to change the story. We’ll forgive you Naughty Dog if you do so. Everyone have a good day and thanks for reading my review.

It just seems to me that Naughty Dog chose to ignore everything the fans love about their games to fit an agenda. Therefore I am giving this a 0/10 in hopes of the score ending up low enough that Naughty Dog decides to redo the game in a way that the fans would like. All the flashbacks were just terribly placed and the whole “revenge rampage” is pretty much worthless at the end. Obviously the visuals are great but all in all this is a huge middle finger to the first game, so if you liked tlou1 then don’t evenWhat a complete disappointment.     Gameplay? Pretty much the same of other games.
    Story? You literally throwed away all of what makes The Last of Us in this game. All characters are poorly written, and the story doesn't make sense at all.

    I did not buy the game, I only came in touch with it via twich streams and Youtube. I would say the game is a 6/10 but the devs behavior prior to the release in regards of copyright claims is lowering. I did not have any issues with the game or the story since I did not play TLOU 1 but I do find it odd how the story evolved. The ending itself is also a bit weird to me. That is why it is aI did not buy the game, I only came in touch with it via twich streams and Youtube. I decided to play The Last of Us 2. It has beautiful graphics but the combat is clunky, resource management is a bore. This game is truly a chore to play through. I won't go into the story elements that ruin this game,I didn't play The Last of Us 1, but I heard such good things about it that I watched the entire walkthrough of it and thought it was great. The characters were compelling. I decided to play The Last of Us 2. It has beautiful graphics but the combat is clunky, resource management is a bore. This game is truly a chore to play through. I won't go into the story elements that ruin this game, but they ruined this game. I didn't want to play passed the 2 hour mark but I slogged through hoping for an ending that was satisfying - only to be even more frustrated. This game deserves a zero - not because it on the whole is terrible - many elements are average or below average. No, this game deserves a zero because at the end of it, I felt I wasted 30 hours of my life. Not to mention Metacritic has been stopping people from posting negative reviews, so I'd be surprised if this one goes through.… Expand

    I do enjoy my time with those friends who are LGBTs, they are really important part of my life. So I will score 0 to this game just because of unreasonable story rather than you so called " prejudice and discrimination to LGBT" blah blah blah.

    Too disappointing, the only good thing about the game is its music, it **** up the story and they force you to hurt a character you don't want, even making it playable, they focused on the "politically correct" and spoiled a wonderful game.

Although a story-based game, nothing makes sense with too many plot holes. Joel deserved better and the Joel we know would not have made such a mistake that would lead to such a ridiculously stupid death. To then be forced to play the character we hate and know nothing about all of a sudden and then try to kill our second beloved character is just horrible writing and for a game of this level and expectation just garbage. The ending is a dumpster fire of its own. All that time and effort built to kill Abby as well as killing hundreds on the way and it doesn't even take place. So why did we even play it? And a flashback of Joel results in this? Don't make me laugh! Joel was an ultra-survivor that trusted nobody and did everything to survive and would not have hesitated or had second thoughts about killing anyone to ensure his and his groups survival especially when it came to ellie. He was the last person that would have mercy when it came to survival. But he was no torturer either. Abby and Joel are nothing alike and there is just absolutely zero growth in this entire game and as said before, the game in the end felt pointless with just angered players left over with the stupidest choices possible. This plot could have maybe worked but everything was done wrong and out of order as well as out of place. Terrible overall and should be known as the worst let down of gaming history. Support the graphics and gameplay all you want, but I didn't feel much of a difference from the first game as the first game had gone beyond its time already in these categories so I refuse to give anything above 0. Everything has deteriorated and I refuse to accept this as the next game. I am still waiting for The Last of Us 2...… Expand

    I hated the game so much that I scored a 0 for the first time.
    The lowest score I ever played was 6.
    It's hard to imagine such a famous game cheating players in the trailer. Where all the trailers show Joel, it's actually Jesse.
    I saw the press today that it sold 4 million copies, so I came here to rate it and tell people who didn't pre-order it that it's a piece of **** don't buy it.

And then finally once were back as ellie and spend our entire time upgrading, collecting cards, and getting through the wolves, you spit in our faces again by making us play as Abby AGAIN after killing Jesse for 8 **** hours and then fight ellie as a BOSS and kick her ass? I can confirm that both times it felt like a slog through miles of mud and grime. The only part of the game I really enjoyed was the upgrade mechanics and shooting, and even then, they were far from the best at it. The story was abysmal. I shouldnt need to suffer through 10 hours of gameplay for a few short segments with (a really dumbed down, almost like hes developing Alzheimer's or got hit in the head a few times, Version Of) Joel. Those little 15-30 min segments are the best parts of the game. You have your boy Joel again. Your supportive father figure. Haha You liked that guy? Hahah Golf club go KRRK.

    Joel didnt deserve to die like that. He deserved to go out fighting for his little girl against a horde of angry fireflys, or a giant zombie. Not to some **** who cant deal with her/his daddy issues.

    Go buy a Tomb Raider or Uncharted if you want this style of gunplay.

    Go play Literally anything else if you want a better story.

    Oh. And $20 says they force the Devs to make a DLC where you can Club Abby's brains out. #LongLiveJoel

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. completely lied to by naughty dog in terms of advertisment and character development. almost all of the beloved characters acted completely out of character and got killed for actions they never would have made, making the deaths seem dry and forced. not to mention the countless lies told by Neil himself about how the team only care about Joel and Ellie and that they hold them dear, then had him killed off in a way in which he deserved better and had his corpse spat on :) wouldn't given it a 4/10 as the gameplay was good but naughty dog decided to use bots to leave good reviews and lie once again to the public… Expand

    No, there is NOTHING wrong with the main character being a lesbian nor there being strong women. The problem is the way the story is told, the amazingly contradictory decisions the characters make, and how they make you feel rage and disgust for every character (and then make you play 10 hours with them)

    The only thing worse than this game is corona. You'd be better off playing just the first part (which is actually good) and forget the second one even exists. Hands down one of the worst experiences I've had playing a game.
