    This is just another "humans only suck" type story. Just as pointlessly brutal and narratively bland as the Walking Dead ended up being. This game is another entertainment disaster. After slaughtering countless people in the path of revenge, many of whom weren't actually bad people at all. The one who is the target of your insane ire is left to live on....     And I have to use a ugly character to kill him and control her for **** 10 hours.

    Then Eillie hunt her by killing hundreds and thousands people and the **** last moment she **** forgives her and I have no choice!

Abby could forgive Eille for killing her frineds and she just could not help herself crashing Joel's damn life. While I was playing as Abby, I changed the difficulty to easy, just to make her story pass fast. Honestly many players care nothing about Abby's story.

    The story's pacing and execution killed it for me. The game runs and plays well and it is indeed one of the best looking games in this generation but none of that matters because the story pacing and executing killed it.

    The game ruined its potential to be a great game. The story needs a lot of improvement. Characters just not really that good or decent, so many wrongs in the game to make sense. I would be dishonest if i gave it any score, as of now it deserves a perfect zero.

    I was so looking forward to this, but I have been conned out of £50! First half of the game is excellent, the rest however made me hate it and was a chore to play. You don't even play as Ellie for the majority of the game. Naughty Dog should be done for false advertising, they totally misrepresented the game I was going to be playing. The way the story is written is abominably terrible; ruined a franchise. Terrible beginning which makes you watch a terrible death of Joel, who would've never shared his details with anybody in the prequel - but an even worse ending culminating in the baddie fishing for absolution triumphing over Ellie. Killing of Joel right after he saves Abby's life (it's not even a quick death, its a slow torturous death) doesn't get justified by the 10 hours + or so of game time that you "have" to play as Abby. Those 10+ hours are pretty weak narratively as well. I don't get how someone who played the first last of game can potentially like this game. The backlash is completely justified and a lot of things seem forced. The DLC was nicely done and when it's revealed that Ellie is gay it was a really wholesome moment. However, the Dina/Ellie chemistry is just lacking and lot of times is completely forced. I would say steer clear of any Naughty Dog games, never pre-order, and save your money to support other game developers.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. We were told that the first TLOU is a "simple story, complex characters". Well the second one is a "simplest story, simplest characters". Sorry that we appear to be not THAT simple.
    Straightforward plot. Straightforward message that is aggressively repeated from one cut-scene to another. I was missing a person jumping out in the corner of the screen with the sign “Revenge is bad!” if someone had still not realized it. C'mon we are not stupid i even felt offended since the game communicated with me as if i really am: D

    the characters ... main and minor. so flat, shallow, sketchy. It's so difficult to sympathize with them (at the same time in the first part they were so natural and lively that it was difficult NOT to sympathize). The decisions they make, motivation in various situations, dialogs - everything looks forced, overact and false.

    Perhaps it is a good plot move to kill Joel since it could have opened so many confrontations within the heroes but the game just flushes him down like a trash and this looks like disrespect to studio’s previous work. So many ideas could have been discussed with Joel got killed - regret, priorities, overcoming the desire for revenge, the path to forgiveness, understanding and acceptance. Yes, it's trivially but it meant to be a simple story and complex characters. Speaking about Abby, has she got the relief after killing Joel? Does she feel any regret or fault killing comrades? How does she feel growing in a military society and at the same time being a sweet daughter of a rather gentle farther? Maybe she has become obsessed with revenge because her love (i don't even remember his name), that could have become her support and life meaning, makes another girl pregnant? Even disliked by almost everyone Abby could have been a complex and interesting to watch character. I don't even speak about Ellie! But despite of showing these dramatic and emotional drivers we are shown rather a long intimate scene between girls that means absolutely nothing for a story-line. Yeah, priorities in 2020. Even this touchy topic could have been woven elegantly in terms of a conflict between Ellie and homophobic people where Joel was the dearest person who understood and protected her in this situation and now he is dead and she faces it all alone and feels how important Joel's support was for her and how she really in need of being protected and encouraged even being so strong and independent BECOUSE it is a child-parent relationship that was so thoroughly built in TLOU 1! Gosh, so many ways to develop the characters!!!!!!11 And yes, Joel tries hard to drag out the story in the beginning and in each and every flashback…the only alive and natural but dead character ahaha.

    I feel so sorry for people who put their soul in making the technical part of the game since it's brilliant. But thanks to scenario a lot of people have come to hate this game :(

    I'm a huge TLoU fan, so I couldn't wait for the sequel. After reading about Druckmann putting his progressive politics into it years ago, I was already worried. But I hoped for the best. Until the leaks came out. I was worried even more, even though Druckmann and the games media kept saying those were "fakes". Well, the leaks were all true, and I found out the hard way.

    I don't    I'm a huge TLoU fan, so I couldn't wait for the sequel. After reading about Druckmann putting his progressive politics into it years ago, I was already worried. But I hoped for the best. Until the leaks came out. I was worried even more, even though Druckmann and the games media kept saying those were "fakes". Well, the leaks were all true, and I found out the hard way.

    I don't understand how Naughty Dog could just spit (quite literally) on beloved characters they themselves had created. Not only that, but the story is a total disaster. I can only be thankful to the brave person who leaked it all. Although I was dumb enough to buy the game (I'm gonna sell it though), hopefully those leaks and the whole game being on Youtube now have prevented other people from making the same mistake. The story of The Last of Us ended with The Last of Us in 2013.    … Expand

    The first game and dlc were perfect stories with amazing gameplay. Now I'm left feeling empty and struggling to point anything I liked about the overly long and incoherent story. No real changes to the combat and gameplay, which is fine because I still enjoyed it. False advertising in the trailers.

You can't relate with the characters, most of them are just bland and don't really add anything to the plot. Even Ellie, the main character of the game seems to be a boring version of herself. Boring characters, can't relate with them, can't suffer what they suffer. Ironically, the only character I can relate with is Joel.

    Now, the gameplay... We've been waiting for 7 years, almost 2 generations, and the "New" mechanics they added WERE LITERALLY MGS FOR THE PS1 MECHANICS (Yeeting into the grass and jumping). ARE YOU ****ING SERIOUS? WE CRITICIZED COD GHOSTS FOR ADDING DOGS AS A NEW MECHANICS, BUT ARE WE GONNA PRAISE TLOU2 FOR THE EXACT SAME THING?!
    No, seriously, y'all remember when Battlefield 4 came out, and you could literally destroy a 20 floor building to change the map in a PS3? TLOU2 with 7 years and almost 2 generations can't even add an interesting mechanic.
    In a playable level, TLOU2 it's a PS2 game. God of War 2 had a more in-depth mechanics, let's not even talk about Metal Gear Solid.
    My conclusion: Don't waste your money in this game, seriously. It has absolutely 0 re-jugability. There's nothing that could interest you in making a second run, other than the virtual difficulty. You can't take different options, there's not a large arsenal that could change significantly your playing mode and etc. If you want to buy a new game, I personally recommend you RdR 2, since it's just a better game in all ways. Or even better, buy an old game (Like Dark Souls or Battlefield 4) since they are for sure being a better investment for a cheaper price, having significantly more hours of fun.
    At the end of the day, things like these may disappoint us, the people who actually play videogames, but YouTube/Twitch/TV are for sure gonna love it. TLOU2 is going to be a GOTY and will attract a lot of people who are not even related with the world of gaming just because it's a """Different""" game. I don't really care if Ellie's lesbian, if there's a Jew character of if there's a Trans. Seriously, I give 0 **** about that. So to all of those kids who criticize the game for being too "LGBT inclusive", **** off. The game is mediocre not because it's inclusive, but it's made to call the attention of the media. Talking about controversial things like LGBT community or transexuals always makes an endless argue, and naughty dog knows that. Just accept there's people who wants to live their life's however they want, and even if there are some people who like to call the attention by being controversial; just ignore them, they are literally trolls.

    Some of the worst writing I have ever seen in a game. No respect for character development or the original story/lore. This seems like Druckman just doing what he wants giving **** all about if it makes sense or works within context. Predictable as hell, painfully linear and god awful execution. Avoid this garbage fire at all costs. If you need a good ps4 game to play, pick up Persona 5 Royal.
