    Trash game and false advertisement. They took old Joel from the trailers and made him young Joel as flashbacks in the actual game or switched him out for another character. Good games don't need gimicks to tell a good story. I have no problem with Joel dying, but the scenario was ludicrous and was a slap in the face to true fans of the original.     People that do not understand why this game actually forces an agenda on the player, probably dont know how subtle they operate and how its transmitted.
    In no game you will find it obviously stated, but it will be portraied with an underlying tone, so that the user might get used to it.

    It feels forced, it doesent feel natural. If you are trans/bisexual, so be it, but do not make a big deal out of it, as if its superior or any more noteworthy than a straight guy/girl.

Playing as ellie the whole game or even dina could have saved this game. Very disappointed, this could have been the best game all year. Hope naughty dog doesnt make a third. Won't waste $ on it. I think this game does not even closely DESERVES a 95, at most a 70. Why kill off such an important character, like an hour into the game? Why cancel someone’s death, due to leaks? Alright so where to begin with this game, when it was first announced and the trailers started to circulate it looked solid overall and looked like it was going to be a great sequel to a beloved game. However, as more and more content for the game was shown it was very obvious that this wasn't going to go well. This game is an example of trying to appeal to everyone which isn't necessarily a bad thing but the way it's executed is done poorly, they make large changes to characters that don't make any sense. Joel went from being a well-rounded and cautious individual to essentially saying "yeah lets go into this lodge with these strangers" which was clearly done just so they could kill off the character. Then you have what they do to pretty much every female in the game, they make them buff and look nothing like a female and while I can understand that not every female is going to look like what is considered conventional, but it's jarring when you walk up to what looks like this buff macho dude and then they have the most feminine voice ever. Now it's on to the story, the first half of the game where you play Ellie I'd say is genuinely somewhat enjoyable and things are running fine. The game however takes a sharp turn when Joel meets a 9 iron to the face and the story just turns sloppy. The worst part about this game is the second half where you end up in the shoes of this character that the game tries desperately to get you to like, trying so hard to make you sympathize with the character but it just doesn't work because while some of the actions Joel and Ellie have made are bad, it doesn't take away the players love for the characters. So then it turns into this hatred towards your own character and you're just hoping that she ends up getting killed somehow. Then to top it all off you have the worst thing I think I have ever seen in a game, a self-insert sex scene between Owen (literally the likeness Neil Druckmann) and Abby, it is genuinely disgusting to see and is the cherry on top for one of the worst games of 2020. If you don't care at all about the story, go ahead and try this, you'll get some enjoyment out of it as the game play is ok, but if you're like me and plenty other TLOU fans don't even give this a try.… Expand

I felt it had a perfect balance of left leaning themes that were not so obnoxious as to ruin an amazing story. This one has thrown all caution to the wind and has produced a game that no one who aren't pink haired college students could enjoy.

    Usually, I don't bother to write reviews, I know that most original stories coming out these days will be SJW nonsense, but when you see the sequel to such an engaging IP do this, it's sad. And hypocritical. There is a 'romance scene' in this game that is downright disgusting but Sony will allow that but if a Japanese game has a female character showing cleavage, that's censored.     Just finished the game. They spend all money on very ugly models, Druckmann paycheck and PR. And completely forgot about the story and gameplay. I'm a huge fan of TLOU1, and this one is a pure crap. Druckmann become mad I think cause of "celebrity" status. Worst ND game. End of story.

I simply didn't enjoy playing as Abby, so for around 5-6 hours I painfully aware of how, in her section, the game was force feeding me background to try make me like her and feel bad for her as a character. Her section of the game came off as forced and it was simply poor story telling. It was also a stupid idea to have us play as Abby in a boss fight and sparing Abby in the conclusion made no sense in the context of the rest of the game and was very unsatisfactory, not to mention infuriating. The game still had undeniably good gameplay until it got a bit repetitive, and the audio, gore, and graphics, made me really enjoy the first 10ish hours.… Expand

    I was a big fan of The Last Of Us I have played it over and over again. I just finished the game and the story just seems forced and the plot seems like it was not given much thought considering how the first game was delivered to the audience in such a masterful way.     This game is trash. This game by far is the literal definition of getting J E B A I T E D. Play something else and don't waste your time. It's kinda like TLOU 1 being the original star wars and TLOU 2 being the newer movies ( episodes 8,9)

    If you really like The Last of Us, then please don't play this game. Its story telling and characters ruin the franchise. It's almost like a bad tumblr fanfiction at some points. Just go and play the original game. And then just let it be. Let it end with the first one and never touch the second part. It will ruin your view of the whole franchise.

    This game was disappointing and made just some **** moves to early and made the overall story not so great for the rest of the game and now all i have is a bad experience with good graphics and they don't cancel each other out im just left with a bad taste in my mouth. I'd advise to watch someone play it and l honestly wish i did but now i have a 60$ door stopper so head my Warning.

    What a terrible game. Yes, the mechanics and graphics are pretty good but the story is terribly written.
    There is not really any tension because they reveal whats happening first and showing us flashback nobody cares about. Some people try to make this about LGBT+ but this game is objectively bad.

This game was the former, awful. It really says something when your own production crew starts leaving before    Disgrace, absolute slap in the face to all gamers or game lovers everywhere.

    Let me prelude this by saying I don't often review games, as each person's opinion is subjective, Its only when a game is abysmally terrible, or absolutely outstanding that I decide to share my opinion. This game was the former, awful. It really says something when your own production crew starts leaving before a AAA game is released. Not good signs.
    When the lead designer/producer expresses they do not care about how people feel as the play the game, serious red flags. Isn't that the opposite of how it should be?

    Lets start out with gameplay.

    Gameplay was OK. It wasn't anything special for a game with 7 years in development. The fighting and overall controls left me wanting something else, this gameplay was overall too generic. If you told me an indie company made these controls, or this game was quickly put together in a year's time, I'd believe you. The game play is something I'd maybe pay 5 bucks for, maybe an extreme sale down the road, so long as I can skip any and all story. Speaking of that, lets move onto story.

    There are often games where the story is so intriguing that it makes you overlook obvious gameplay issues, BUT THIS IS NOT IT. This story is, how to put it, one of the largest let downs in gaming that I have ever seen. The story, like many modern games, is almost like an interactive movie where your choices have no impact, but you feel like you're doing something. Thats fine, but its the content that really gets to me.

    In the first TLOU the two main characters were beautifully developed and that is what made the first game so loved. There was a clear thought, backstory, practicality, and believably in what you saw. You were able to relate to the characters. The second game decided well f*** all that work from the first game, F*** anyone who even slightly likes those characters, and how about a good ole' dose of forced narrative.

    Without any major spoilers, the new story shoves a forced prospective so far down your throat that you're just waiting for the moment the game finally finishes and you can forget it forever. The old main characters were disgraced, they act nothing like themselves and the poorly written new characters spit on their faces. The new character was written to have a feeling of you don't like this character than you're a piece of s***". This is not how I want to feel while playing a game, nor is it something I want forced on me.

    While you can judge for yourself, I would highly recommend skipping this game.

    Do yourself a favor and do what every other rational minded person is doing, pretend this game never existed and that the series ended at TLOU 1. Go read some fan fiction, or imagine how their story ended yourself, because I can guarantee that anything ending that you or a fan decides to give this story, will be better than what was published here.

    Oh and before you attempt to criticize or belittle my review due to LGBT shenningans, I'm from California, I couldn't be more accepting of people's life choices.    … Expand

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
