    The game is exactly the same as the first one mechanics wise. The only thing new is the prone **** that doesn't really anything new. The AI is just as **** as the first game. The pacing is dreadful since you're flooded in cutscenes or segments where you run around empty fields while the NPC dumps expositions. Not that it matters because the gameplay is exactly the same from the start ofThe game is exactly the same as the first one mechanics wise. You fight the same human enemies over and over again doing the exact same stealth kill animations every time (get use to this face. You're going to keep seeing it) or Abby do the same shoulder grab animation every few seconds.

    The infected fights are all as shallow as the first game so there's nothing redeeming there either.
    They spent 5+ years on this **** game and the only work they put into it was this ****ty ass story that isn't presented well. Events are not show in chronological order. This wouldn't be an issue, many stories have done this and done it successfully, but Part II decides to tell you one story, switch perspectives, then give you a flash back, then a dream sequence within that flash back, then a **** flash forward and then reset the whole damn thing in another perspective. All tension is **** lost by the time you get back to the climax. I don't want to get into the story beats because someone else will cover it anyways (retarded motivations, out of character actions, filler events just to extend playtime, that **** ending, etc.)

    If you ever needed an example of the most uninspired videogame sequel, Last of Us Part II is definitely up there. The only reason that it's passable as a functioning video game is because it's built off a previous entry.    … Expand

    Why I didn't just burn these 60$.......the story was just terrible. I don't care about the "agenda" or the LGBTQ characters. The story and characters are contrived. Especially Joel and Ellie did everything to fit into the games story, they didn't behave like they would in TLOU 1. I could have written more but I really am exhausted mentally after playing this game for 14 hours straight.

    As soon as TLoU2 starts the aim is to make you hate the old protagonist and side with a completely new character who you are forced to play with not even knowingly you will be playing with that character for more than half of the game. ND aren't sacred and can be called out for making a mistake. The story of TLoU2 is depressing and pathetic to say the least, I could not recommend this game to anyone even if I had a free copy given to me straight from Sony. Hard Pass.    … Expand

    Great game! I was very excited to lose any plot that I cared about in favor of "fresher perspectives" and "diversity," in the words of the brilliant Neil Druckmann. The ending was fantastic as well, great writing. Just like the critics say, MUST-PLAY!

Instead of following in the steps of its predecessor, the sequel throws away much of its character-development, atmosphere, and world-building for the sake of adding a playable antagonist. Despite early news promising the development of Ellie and Joel's bond, the latter is killed in the prologue of the game by said antagonist. Instead of naturally becoming a revenge story, the writers try their hardest to make the player emphasize with Abby - something incredibly difficult to accomplish if the player developed a connection to the protagonists from the first game. Characters close to Ellie die or abandon her unceremoniously throughout the course of the game in scenes that seem more reliant on shock value than good writing. Those who die are always taken out by Abby, and you'll occasionally play as her for these scenes. At the ending, Ellie saves Abby's life before challenging her to one last fight. Despite having two of her fingers bitten off in the struggle, Ellie gets the upper hand and is all set to drown the woman who has taken everything from her. With a brief vision of Joel flashing through her mind, she makes a disappointing decision to let go of Abby and allow her to get away. At the end of the day, Ellie is left with nothing.     The beauty of this Original game has it all regardless of sexual orientation, gender or ethnicity it worked for everyone because at the core the story did not take over a pile of crap that we are witnessing today. The Original story had a roles of CHARACTERS that you could relate to while developing EMOTIONS and TRUST over time given the harsh environment, SURVIVING not being pump up for no apparent reason. That has been obliterated and evaporated into a thin air. it is no longer the game that you have imagined, waited for several years or spent endless hours discussing it with your friends while coming up with theories of how the sequel would turn out, in my head it could have been 4 or 5 narratives to TLOU2 imagine the excitement!!

    "you will never know unless you try it", "don't judge a book by its cover" will me response to that is - knowing fully what will happen every step of this journey, eventually won't gave any satisfaction of how this game turns out to be and on another note I don't need to experience every game out there to formulate an impression of where this game is heading. "Down Hill"

    I'll say this "it gives me no pleasure that this game has been leaked but I’m happy that it saved my wallet 60 or plus dollars".

    getting that out of the way. here is what I think, knowing that I haven't played the game but apparently "Neil Druckmen" seems to think it will satisfy everyone, so really even himself is theorizing it in his own way.

    the man might've had the idea of the original game but the work, sweat and time of veterans within that studio has given it all to bring us an amazing game and would have been a probably a decent sequel if they were still there. Now they've left because questions are invalid, questions are toxic to the work place, questions are irrelevant to the "CAUSE" and those questions if ever raised you are a "homophobic". and all they are left with is a kindergarten staff, did they deliver on technical & visual aspects I bet they did. I have played so many games that would lack one thing or another but remember this is a sequel that has been tarnished by its story. this studio is a has been now, WHY?

    This game has turned to a one man show to fulfill his destiny primarily saying "my way or the high way". look here, history is plain and simple "Amy Hennig" was pushed out, "Bruce Straley" is no longer there being burnt out of working and needs a break and at last the old crew has jumped ship, if you ask me this is a pattern of abusive behavior of a man who wants to be the alpha, dominate and enforce his vision. Probably he'd say in his head"I worked hard for it, I deserve this, this is my time to shine".

    the game talks about revenge and in my opinion: this man is greedy and opportunistic schmuck, working for him or with him must feel like being in one of the nine circles of hell, that he'll do whatever it takes to get a head, listen this not for the sake of neutralizing and normalizing the field for "LGBTQ" or standing up for a community, it just happened to be out there it’s a part that he plays in at the moment. What was naughty dog expecting? How can you so brutally push a political agenda down people’s throat? Are you guys really dumb enough to expect TLOU fans to see the hero die in the beginning of the game and like it? TLOU was all about Joel and Ellie and the sequel was all about how Naughty Dog destroys that relationship and the game itself. It in fact was not even a sequel, it was a SJW’s murder of the first game. Extremely disappointed with not only Naughty Dog but also Playstation. I kept this machine for 8 years only for this game and this is what I get. I have now decided to sell it and switch to PC.     i wanted to give it a 5 or 6 at best because of the actors and employees hard work but after sitting on it and thinking about the experience, i think the visuals just made it worse....These Games are all about the story, if i wanted a shooter combat i'd rather open up warzone....WHAT IS THAT ENDING ? WHO WROTE THAT HORRIBLY DRY SAX SCENE ? it gets more **** the more you sit on it. THANKS!!!

This is some pitiful revenge story injected with SJW agenda full of hate.. pros: graphics and game play are good but story is so progressive bs that it ruined the franchise and is an insult to the first game :-( very sad about it, hopefully Cyberpunk 2077 will be what people expect.

The gameplay and graphics may be its redemeable points since they are truly amazing, but that is to be expected of any AAA game nowadays so its not an accomplishment. The story has been the biggest focus for the franchise since the first game and its DLC, but this time around it seems as if Neil's creativity has been dulled to the extreme, the structure of the story is incoherent and has plot hole after plot hole every 5 minutes, with the sad reality that neither Joel or Ellie are really the protagonists, this isn´t a game about them but rather a mediocre attempt to introduce a new protagonist for the saga and why we should care about her, but despite the great efforts of Naughty Dog, she does not induce any kind of sympathy or attachment from the player, after laying the game for hours all you feel for her is the desire to get her kmilled and erase her sorry existence from the story as quickly as possible, but the game even robs of this in the end, with Ellie letting her go in a climax as boring and badly written as the rest of the game.… Expand

    This game is a disaster, and it's apparent from the offset. Reading the critic reviews would have you believe that this is the greatest game ever made, I suspect their ratings have more to do with ideology and financial incentive than actual objectivity. The game isn't particularly pretty to look at in context of the budget, and while graphics aren't everything this 'game' doesn't have much else to offer. The story devolves from the first game into a petty revenge fantasy, I could harp on about this but honestly what's the point? The characters are totally different from the first game, there's no consistency. You're lead to believe that Joel will play a large part of things, they kill him off within a couple of hours. A man who trusts nobody and is a hardened survivor walks into a room full of thugs and announces himself, something he never would have done and simply isn't believable.

    There's a horrific 'love scene' in which we're forced to watch Abby get railed that's more hardcore than some of the things you can find on pornhub. I did not want to see this, I don't understand why it was in the game. The fact Sony has censored the likes of anime games yet allowed this is the height of hypocrisy.

    The gameplay? Stale and dated, the gameplay in the first game wasn't exactly stellar either but it had the story to carry it. This has nothing, it's not worth your time or your money. It's a strange fetish created by the self absorbed narcissist Neil Druckmann.    … Expand

Ellie murdered possibly hundreds in her quest to kill Abby, and not only untied her, but she also challenged her to some strange form of honorable combat before letting Abby go free. It is not good writing. It's characters acting completely unpredictable just for something terrible to happen. It's like they can't create shock value without making someone act like an idiot. Lastly, there is no joy in The Last of Us: Part II. Not if you came into it with the previous characters in your heart. Every beloved character is dragged through the dirt constantly with no moments of reprieve. It's one miserable scene after the other. The only "uplifting" moments tend to happen when the player is controlling Abby. At the end of the day, there is no satisfaction for the player. None for Ellie. None for Joel, Tommy, Jesse, or Dina. You don't get your adventure with Ellie and Joel. You don't get your revenge. You don't get a glimpse of the hope for a better future that was present in the first game. It's devoid of hope. The only thing you get at the end of the day is a message that revenge is bad, but it falls flat once you realize that the only person who got their vengeance is the one that came out on top.… Expand

Joels death was cruel and people aren't complaining about that he died, they are complaining about the way he died. They advertised Joel in their trailers and he died 2 hours in. Meanwhile Abby was barely shown in the trailer and you are forced to play a character you hate for about 10 hours. I call this false advertIsement. The flashback scenes are really out of place and feels like they just edited them in, in the last second. The characters that die, barely get mentioned after they die. It is like they forgot that they ever existed. They are trying to make the player like abby and feel bad for her but it really isn't working at all. The ending was horrible, I tought FINALLY ABBY IS GOING TO DIE... but no. She gets to live after she bit ellies fingers. The reason to why she got to live was because Ellie got a flashback about Joel. That's literally the reason..… Expand

    It is ridiculous to call people who leave low marks in this game just 'Haters'. This is a well-made game, if the evaluation criteria are how much it gives player a bad feeling. The game is deliberately giving players a negative experience.
    If someone really played this game and left a positive review, they either didn't play the previous one, or they forgot all the content.

    If you change the name of the game for "linear as hell" no one will ever notice any difference! Feels so predictable and repetitive... and let's not talk about the game plot... stick to video games and avoid political statements. This company went from excellence to pure trash in just 2 games!

The ending was extremely unsatisfying and it made the entire game pointless. The gameplay was good (I'd give it 7/10) but I don't really play single-player story games for the gameplay, and from what I've heard, the creator of this game said it wasn't meant to be fun. So if I just focus on the story, this would be my rating. Random side-plots about a character that I couldn't care less about, and a pointless overall story that doesn't achieve anything.
    Before this game, I used to trust critic reviews. I thought that "game critics being paid or biased" was just a meme, and I'm not really into that conspiracy theorist stuff that thinks game developers actually pay reviewers to give them a high rating. However, after I played this, I couldn't comprehend how any sane human being in the world could give this a 10/10. A 6/10 would be a lot more understandable because the gameplay is solid (nothing too revolutionary, but it's fine). A 7/10 would also be fine if you somehow actually liked the story. But a 10/10 score? There are games out there that are a million times more deserving of such a rating. I actually don't trust reviewers now after this.     Of course, it's good to have a message, if there's anything you want to say. But you can't use movie as the message tool. I think there should be beauty of its own. If you put the message up front and the movie keeps shouting slogans, you shouldn't be like an old cheap propaganda movie.

    I played the entire game in one sitting, and it was so bad that I feel worse about the time i lost than the money. The story felt very jumbled, the AI was horrible, the game play was clunky, and the lag was unbearable. After the first game, this sequel is a complete disappointment. Honestly, I wish the game ended by it all being a dream.

It was about the awesome cast of people they meet along the way like Tess, Henry and Sam etc. It was about the masterfully wrote storyline that tied everything in together and made everyone really pull for Joel and Ellie to make it through ok.

    So what does ND do? they fire their amazing story writer (who is a female actual feminist), deceive the masses by lying about Ellie being the main playable character (however it is actually abby in this game). They then proceed to kill off joel in a horrible and stupid way in the first few hours of the game. and then have ellie lose basically everything and gain nothing for 0 reason. She gets her fingers bit off by Abby so she can't play t he guitar anymore so that commercial was also a lie. Avoid this game at all cost.    … Expand
