Graficos incriveis, jogabilidade legal, e até mesmo envolvente para se jogar, minha sincera opinião é q seria um excelente jogo se não fosse The last of us, a historia não me prendeu nem um pouco, pelo contrario, me fez querer parar de jogar a cada flashback, personagens totalmente babacas com suas novas atitudes e um pouco burros até. 5.75 out of 10 - Okay game. Phenomenal Animation and visuals especially facial animations. Passable gameplay, if lacking in innovation over the first game, and combat with repetitive looting that can make the game drag in several parts. However, The Last of Us is best known for its story and sadly that's where this game drops the ball BIG TIME. There are parts of the game that give you glimpses of the brilliant writing in the first game, primarily in flashback sequences. Sadly these moments are few and far between with most of the writing and character dialogue ranging in quality from bland to head-scratchingly bad. One of the narrative choices in particular left me struggling for motivation to play the rest of the game past the two hour mark. Overall The Last of Us Part II is a decent yet extremely disappointing game when compared to its predecessor.

    Scoring Scale:
1 - (AWFUL) Among the worst games ever made. The developer should be ashamed.
2 - (VERY BAD) These games are so bad they're insulting.
3 - (BAD) Just bad. Game suffers from a wealth of problems in all areas, very few redeeming qualities.
4 - (MEDIOCRE) A game that has its fair share of serious problems with a few glimmers of quality sprinkled throughout. More than anything it's forgettable.
5 - (OKAY) For every positive this game has there is just as many negatives. You may be able to find enjoyment in these games however you will likely be met with equal amounts frustration and disappointment.
6 - (GOOD) There is a decent amount of fun to be had in these games albeit with a few noticeable drawbacks. Worth checking out at some point especially if on sale.
7 - (GREAT) A game that has some flaws but all in all is a great game worth every penny of its purchase price.
8 - (AMAZING) Game of the year contender only allowing for some minor flaws.
9 - (SUPERB) One of if not the best game released that year, truly special.
10 - (NEAR PERFECT) One of the best games ever made.

Without a doubt the graphics are phenomenal in this game. My main issue with this game is the poorly written story. The gameplay is what you'd come to come to expect from a cover based third person shooter. Is the game a 0/10? No, is the game a 10/10? If you want good graphics and gameplay then i could recommend this game on sale. However if you came for the story then I'm afraid this game doesn't have the charm of the original. I found the characters to be frankly boring and forgettable. The bond between Joel and Ellie which made the game so good is cut short. Let me make it clear that I have no issue playing as Ellie or any other woman in any video game but in this game Ellie is rather stale compared to her in the first game. I could go into more detail but long story short I found myself not caring about the majority of characters in this simply because they didn't appeal to me because I found them to be boring. Lastly the ending is very anticlimactic and it was honestly one of the worst endings I have seen in any game. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Summary: Not a bad game, but not that amazing either I found that it was basically just a copy of Tomb Raider but with more annoying characters.

I thought the graphics were amazing, and the sound was also excellent.

The big let downs here were the writing, combat system and searching for gear.

Searching for gear was a huge pain in the arse. Loot isn't obvious and the button to collect only appears within 1m or so of the gear. So you end up having to walk up and down along every set of cupboards in every room of every shop to make sure that nothing as well. You occasionally come across strange items that you can pick up and examine, but they don't do anything else.

In terms of gameplay I just found the weapon system way too clunky. You'd try to go into stealth mode, but instead changed weapons, or try and do a quick heal but get stuck there. it also seemed to me that when an enemies bullet hit you, you recovered a lot more slowly than the enemy did.

Finally just on the script, whilst it definitely seemed it was written as SJW bingo, the bigger failure is just making all the characters unlikeable. The only characters who were vaguely likeable (Joel and Tommy) are either killed off early on or get very little screen time.
I can understand what they were doing with the Abby backstory part of the game, but she just comes across as such a revengeful, angry character that I just wanted her part to end.

(which you probably never will because some people are insane and make death threats when they dont get their participation trophy)

now for anyone else looking to decide whether or not to purchase the game this is my opinion. mild spoilers but i mean they are everywhere right now right?
i personally want to give this game a lower rating because of how upsetting the story is and that you have to play as abby with such boring lifeless characters around you. but the picture of rage fueled revenge is painted out perfectly at the begin. even as upsetting as it was it fits perfectly. playing as adult ellie was an absolute blast. (much better character than anything naughty dog has created and my first game was crash so ive been a long time fan.) gameplay was well done not perfect multiple times as abby i would attempt to walk across a ladder or plank and fall to my death because i somehow missed lol. camera being to close when uderwater so i couldnt see anything. aiming with auto aim snaps you around and aiming without it is not smooth at all but still better. alot of good scares and intense moments in this. magnificent job their. now if you are not a very story oriented player or expecting a magnificent story or did not play the first game then this game will be great. go ahead and give it a try.

aahhhh naughty dog you was so close and i mean so close!!! to making hands down one of the greatest games ever. you had everything lined up but missed. i came in to this game with a negative mind, not gunna lie, but was quickly rerouted with the compelling story and brutal death of you probably know who. furious and driven i played for hours and hours straight hell bent on revenge. but just in the height of everything things switched up. a little upset and continuously dying on purpose because thats what this witch deserves it finally got interesting. you made such an accomplishment with making abby out to be the bad guy that we all hate her then you make such an annoying attempt to make you feel compassion (which occasionally works at times) for abby. but mostly they are trying so hard to recreate that loveable rough around the edges bad guy with a heart that they did with joel in the first one. in almost the exact same way. once we switch, hours of hatred has not been forgotten about and storyline players are now going through the motions to basically get it over with which has affected reviews on the story.
the only real issue with the overall story being bad is in the final fight. nothing get accomplished!?!? she bits off ellies fingers which is an emotional low blow considering the trailer for how long was ellie playing the guitar and joel promises and does teach her to play guitar. i assume thats what your going for but she just up and decides to let abby live. for what reason, what explanation fits. its like you said "she didnt killer her she cried, went home lost everything, even two finger. the end" and slammed the book shut.

the reason the hate about this game is so high because you did such a good job on abby as a bad guy beating joel to death. that we all hate her. you then try to make us like her and play as her. the wolves characters besides owen stink. she never even shows remorse for beating him to death. never shows understanding of ellie being like a daughter to him and he didnt want to lose her. he wasnt in the right but anyone can understand that. the ending is very emotional its rough but the problem is that it doesnt make sense, its sad, and its unfulfilling.

Character logic and decision-making is often sacrificed in order to push a certain idea or themes–or at the worst of times, the plot– which in the process makes the story seem significantly more absurd than it should; furthermore, there are a few instances of character development built up in the last game only to be completely ignored in this one. I feel that the game both tried and almost succeeded yet ultimately failed at attempting to make me sympathize with certain characters who had done truly horrible things. In the end, it is your typical revenge plot with the cliche of all violence is bad; nothing new or bold happens other than a grotesque amount of violence. It is by no means the worst game of the year, but it also is nowhere near the outstanding achievement that many people are making it out to be. Expand

This game is emotionally impactful, sure, but not for good reasons. Just because you feel things doesn't mean the writing was amazing. Put me behind the pen of any sequel that has beloved characters, and I can pull out a shotgun and make people feel their feelings. Then they altered Joel and Tommy's characters.. then they force you to play as a character you hate, and that character (I find) is intensely unlikable. Then they end it with maybe my least favorite ending since ME3. Imagine the end of God of War 3, Kratos is about to beat Zeus' face into a pulp, but then has a half second flashback of his smiling family, so instead he gently reaches down and caresses Zeus' face, whispering "I forgive you".

A game that fundamentally fails in execution, The Last of Us 2 never learned what made the first game so great. With uninteresting characters, a boring plot, and ham-fisted writing, the game becomes a chore to get through. The gameplay never evolved from the first, and the only big spectacle worthy moments feel hollow due to its failure to tell a story that actually grips.

The 2nd part of the game just wasn’t needed, the story just could of finished at a certain point and I didn’t think I’d ever say that about a game. The lighting and graphics are some of the best I’ve ever seen on PS4 but the combat, while better than the first still isn’t great In my opinion.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part 2 was a game I was looking forward to since it was announced. Once I heard the leaks i didn't wasn’t to play the game at all but once I watched a little bit of gameplay, I found that the game wasn’t nearly as bad as the leaks made it seem. However, the ending for the game and the Abby half of the game were not enjoyable. When I play games I look for the story in the moment of play. I don’t try to look for any messages the story is trying to convey or hidden messages and I think that’s why I liked The Last of Us Part 2 more than most people. But I still didn’t like the ending of the game or the Abby scenes after Joel’s death. I feel like the entire point of the game was ruined by the ending. Ellie wanted revenge on the people that killed Joel but in the end she doesn’t even follow through with it. I would have much rather had an ending in which when Ellie is drowning Abby, she keeps having flashbacks of Joel and reminding herself why she was doing this and why she hunted Abby down. Then when Abby is dead, the kid she was with says “Abby, get up” just like Ellie said to Joel in the beginning of the game. Then at the end of the game in the farmhouse, after finding nobody is there, there should be a small clip of Ellie on the hills near Jackson walking towards the city, so the game goes full circle with the revenge tale and we get some closure on Dina and JJ because the game never says what happens to them. In my playthrough of the game, I had the most enjoyment from the first half as Ellie and the few scenes as Abby. I thought gameplay was fun and the story was good as well. The second half as Abby is when I started to enjoy the game the least. The player is forced to play as a character that they do not like at all and then to top all of that off, the gets to live in the ending. She killed Joel, she killed Jesse, she would’ve killed Dina if the kid didn’t say anything, she almost killed Tommy, and she broke Ellie’s arm and the game is telling me that Ellie had a change of heart after all that Abby did. It is the most unsatisfying end to a game that is a sequel to one of the best written single player stories of all time: The Last of Us. One of the most iconic video game duos gets shattered in this game with the death of Joel and he doesn’t get justice. It’s so disappointing to see where the writers decided to go with this game. There apparently is going to be a multiplayer for the game (why it didn’t come out at launch is beyond me) and that is the only reason I will be keeping the game installed on my console. In the end, gameplay for me is an 8/10, it’s easy to understand and can be quite enjoyable especially if you like the first games gameplay. However it can be repetitive (with the stealth takedowns and such) but that doesn’t take away from the experience that much. Story is a solid 5/10. Joel’s death is poorly written. LegacyKillaHD in his YT video “The People Vs. The Last of Us Part 2” said it perfectly. Joel in the first game was all about caution and taught Ellie about it but in the sequel when it comes to a complete group of strangers he willingly gives up his actual name knowing that someone would eventually come after him for what he did. Not to repeat myself but the first half as Ellie is the best part of the game and will be the most enjoyable part for anyone who plays the game. The second half just tries to humanize Abby but that’s impossible to do to a character who just killed one of the most beloved protagonists in gaming. This game doesn’t deserve any praise in storytelling and it shows, people are petitioning for NaughtyDog to rewrite the story to the game and I don’t blame them. This game is a solid 5/10. The gameplay is there but the story isn’t and that’s the main reason people buy single player experiences. Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The gameplay and graphics are well done. This is the best looking game on the PS4. The sound design is also great, but the characters and story are terrible and I never thought that this would be the product we got after waiting for 7 years. Joel, the beloved protagonist in the first game is killed off within the first 2 hours of the game and he only gets 10-15 minutes of screentime. How does Joel get killed? Well, he and Tommy rescue this girl named Abby and head back to where her group is staying at to escape from the infected horde that attacked them. For some reason, they think it is a good idea to tell this group of strangers that they just met their names, their relation, where they live, and even invite them over to restock on supplies. But in the first game, Joel doesn't trust anyone and even ran over a guy who faked from being hurt. Also, in the first game, when Ellie met David she doesn't trust him at all even after they survive an infected horde attacking them. So apparently Joel and Tommy have lost their survivor instincts and trust anyone they come across and tell them everything about themselves and invite them over. Well turns out that this gets Joel killed because the girl he rescued from the horde wanted to kill him. She kills him with a golf club while Ellie watches her and begs her not to do it. And for some reason, they decide not to kill Tommy or Ellie despite knowing Tommy just told them that Joel was his brother and knowing Ellie was somehow close to Joel because how Ellie begs Abby to spare his life and reacts to his death. The only reason why the writers didn't kill off Ellie and Tommy here is because they have a story to tell. I cannot believe how bad this writing is so far. Anyway, Ellie wants revenge and travels to Seattle so she can "KIll every last one of them." She does kill every person involved in Joel's death except Abby who was the one who actually killed Joel. She had the chance to kill Abby, but she decides to let her go because she thinks revenge is bad now. Imagine playing God of War 3 and Kratos is trying to get revenge on the Greek Gods for doing him wrong. He kills every god except Zeus who was the main one he wanted to kill. Zeus is almost dead and Kratos is like "No, I'm done. You can go." Or your watching John Wick and John Wick goes after the guy who stole his car and killed his puppy. He kills about a hundred people and when he gets to the guy who stole his car and killed his puppy and is about to kill him he is like "No, I'm good." and walks away. That is the ending of The Last Of US 2. Also, the game makes you play as Abby and tries to show you she is a good person. They make you try to feel sorry for her, but it fails so hard because you don't care about her since she killed Joel. I like how they make Abby seem like she's the good character and Ellie is evil, but Abby gets her revenge when Ellie doesn't. Really? Everyone would think the exact opposite. The game's message is trying to teach you revenge is bad and it'll cause pain and push everyone away from you. But again it fails because Abby got her revenge and got what she wanted at the end of the game which was to go off with a boy she met named Lev and Ellie doesn't get her revenge but she loses everything which was her girlfriend Dina, the baby that Dina had with her ex, Tommy, Joel, 2 of her fingers, and the ability to play the guitar. The ending literally contradicts the message the story is trying to tell you. The writing is a joke. I will not buy part 3 if they ever make one, I will never trust critic reviews again, and if they decide to make Uncharted 5 I will not buy it until I see reviews of it by other gamers and not trust the reviews by critics.     1- The way they treated Joel in this game is very but very bad, if they wanted to kill him, atleast they would give him a decent death to the character;
    2- Buried one of the most iconic characters in a video game, because of a stupid narrative error;
    3- Abby's revenge and her character is very poorly achieved, which later dictated a very poor game thread;
4- The male characters were totally demoted and pressed (hence the death of joel, jesse, isaac, manny and owen) and Tommy disappears almost the entire game.
5- Narrative of this game is very badly achieved, playing with a character almost 10 hours, character that nobody or most would not like.

A game that promised so much, in my opinion it turned out to be not only the video game with the worst narrative and message I've ever played, but also the game that most disappointed me in my 21 years of life. While The Last of Us 1 was iconic and the best game I have ever played, it is pure sadness that I rate this game on a note that I would never think to give.

This game was everything I dreamed of, what a fantastic world, spoiled by a story and a very poorly achieved message.

The graphics were more advanced than the previous one, and the setting of a suitable place was outstanding.
The actors' performances and the background music of the game were good, so the game characters' emotional descriptions were accurately conveyed.
Compared to the previous work, the game seemed to have increased convenience and adjusted difficulty, and the elements that were seen in the Uncharted were added.
It was okay to be able to play a variety of games accordingly.
I really liked the scene that shows Joel's paternal love towards Ellie and the scene where she realized his preciousness after losing Joel.
Obviously, I liked the production of the game on some of the situations.

Now that I've told you all the strengths I have in mind, I'll tell you the disadvantages.
    setting destruction
I kept showing Ellie to the player as a marksman, but I didn't get a hit in front of Abby.
Dina needs a gun to be normal, but she'll be bowled down with a knife.
In the first movie, Joel continues to show that he is a very cautious character, and especially in the ending, but in the second movie, he shows his carelessness and dies.
And she doesn't even know why she killed Joel, but she's saving him.
And Ellie had a gun, but she didn't shoot Abby.
The player cannot concentrate on the game due to this setting destruction.

Also, the game made fans feel unhappy as it had a composition that seemed to deny the first episode.
    1. Kill Joel, the main character of The Last of Us 1.
    2. That doesn't mean Joel has been doing well with Ellie.
    3. No one can avenge Joel, but rather the person around Ellie dies or gets hurt or leaves Ellie.
    4. Is Ellie so happy? Ellie has a trauma about Joel's death.

Abby certainly had a reason, but it was a big mistake for the person who played The Last Of Us.
The game tries to force a consensus by playing Evie who doesn't want to play to the player himself, but the player can't fully immerse himself.
Abby first shows that there is a reason, but the story behind it seems to be only an excuse from the point of view of the person who played the first episode.
Also, what made the player hit Ellie through Abby made the player feel the end of his squalor.
If this game was a new ip for Naughty Dog, it would have focused on praise, but since it was a series of previous works, the score would naturally be lowered.
Obviously the game quality was good, and it could have been better, but the order and composition of the game play and the destruction of probability lowered the value of the game.
So I will give five points to this game.

I was led to believe by the trailers to expect another story about 2 beloved characters and their relationship, in the end it was not.

The story strays even further away than the first game from the infected apocalypse setting.
Not that it was bad on the first game, in reality it was kinda refreshing.
Putting Ellie and Joel as centerpiece was what led me to love the game.

Where in this story, despite having some characters that appeared in the first game, they were just shells of their former selves.
That led to a depressing and uninspired turn of events, where the decisions taken by those characters were outright stupid and unrealistic, leading me to feel as the characters were forced to act that way to advance the story.

While playing, I haven't felt a connection to Ellie or Abby, especially the ending.
Why kill all those people just to get to Abby if you're not going to kill her?
You already turned yourself into a murderer, just finish it.

Gameplay-wise it was good, but it wasn't that ground breaking experience that I expected from a famous studio such Naughty Dog.
Throughout the game there were many occasions where I've faced animation bugs and gameplay bugs.

Graphics are great, one of the best that I saw on the PS4, but following the gameplay I've seen objects blinking in and out of existence, some texture bugs as well.

Overall it was a disappointing ending to a game that needed no sequel.

I meant to give this game a 7, but due to the massive changes on the promotional material to purposely mislead the public I'll give it a 6.

Being further disappointed by the way that prominent figures in the medium handles criticism, and I am not talking about the aggressive and offensive comments and/or reviews.

Where both sides dismiss any type of point of view that differs from their own, saying that they are bigoted, stupid, propaganda or saying that the critic lacks “insert anything to further prove their point of view”.

As Well as the passive aggressive humor, comments, actions and hypocrisy commonly shared by both sides of the argument.

I feel pushed to stand in a middle ground and give this 'GAME' a 5.

    That's it.

I platinumed the first one and never found the same enjoyment or thrill that I had while playing this one (except for a 10 minute part that took place in a museum - if you played it you know) I don't care for any of the LGBT complaints that you see on the web - the story would still be bad if you took all of this out of there. I was looking for the continuation of one of the best game and story I experienced and this just wasn't it... They even changed characters in some scenes from the trailers and this just made me mad... They really played with my love for this series. Expand

On the other hand, the gameplay is quite boring and the game itself is far too long; the new characters are plain and uninteresting, the older beloved characters are changed to make them stupid ("Hi, I'm Joel, what's up?"). The story as a whole is completely not necessary and not believable: it's full of dumb plot twists, of "subverted expectations" and plot holes; the dialogues are trivial, futile and way too slow, too much pause, too much staring and breathing: it's just plainly boring. And when finally something happens, it should not have happened.
On the techical side it's a 10, on the story and characters side it's 1: so there you have my vote.

Upon reflection I do not think I could have played this game and enjoyed it, as a passive experience it worked and there were some amazing moments, the emotional roller coaster of a Revenge Plot at it's best. However if I was an active player controlling Abby after witnessing what she did to one of the best characters in all gaming, I would not have been able to play further.

I want to give a negative score because of the wasted opportunity to see Joel & Ellie triumph over all obstacles. However as I continued to watch and see the flashbacks of Ellie's and Joel's relationship it was amazing.

I enjoyed witnessing Ellie's quest for revenge but was left feeling empty by the ending (I assume this is what was intended) but to spend the entire game seeking for revenge but to let Abby go was a poor decision on the part of the writers, one of many in my opinion.

So in short I understand why Game Journalist gave this such high reviews, but I absolutely understand why it is getting review bombed now.

Eviromental puzzles are pretty much gone, things are watered down from the first game and things are just overall janky/clunky. If you take the story away, you have what amounts to a basic, dull "Go here, do that, shoot sometimes, repeat" walking simulator.

And without going into too much detail, as it's been said thousands of times already. Diversity and edge for the sake of diversity and edge doesn't work and is honestly why this game has tanked for me.

    yes i finished the game.

Before starting i have to clarify I don't care about race or sexuality, its sad i have to do this but as ive seen on all these subreddits people just blatantly calling people every phobic name in the book for voicing an opinion. For me personally, I felt shattered after finishing the game and not as in "It was an amazing 10/10" way but as in a"I wish this was never made because now i cant sleep" kind of way, TLOU came out when i was 13, It was a very sad time in my life as i had lost so many loved ones and i was really not in a good place, but with TLOU i could really connect to the characters and the world, in some sense, they felt like a family to me. I know its weird because they're not real but i felt like I've lost something that i never had, I feel a true sense of misery, some might say i hate the game because there is Women or because of lgbtq or that im stupid but the truth is, i had to force myself to finish the game, I didnt want to go forward because i knew what was at the end, some of you might say "Thats what ND wanted you to feel!" but in all honesty, i felt these things because the characters that i knew and loved that saved my life in a time of darkness were no longer themselves, they were no longer what made them great, many will ridicule me and put me down for this but as a person who has learnt a lot of morals and lessons from a video game, it hurts seeing it happen, some decisions and dialogues are so out of character it hurt to watch and it felt that the writers just made them say/do these things so the story kept moving forward, I just didnt want to play anymore, it wasnt the gore, or seeing Ellie become everything she hated, It was the lack of choice and the meaningless killing that amounted to nothing, I dont know if i will ever play this game again, it hurts just looking at the disk and seeing her face, i truly loved these characters and now i feel nothing, as if there is no hope. The game isnt a zero but it certainly isnt a ten.

In my opinion the game is a reflection of this quote from Ellie.

    "...Okay..."

    5.3/10

I really wanted to love this game so badly but i just can't, I wish i had never seen it, I wish it had never been made. The ending, (though many people will surely post their many metaphorical assumptions about it) sealed the deal for me.

And so I've dug two graves,

one grave for TLOU2 and the other for me.

For now, I dont know what to do, i feel an insatiable sense of sadness on coming.

Ill leave these final quotes that i remember everyday from Ellie.

"Everyone I Have Cared For Has Either Died Or Left Me. Everyone…Except For You."

"Let's See, Scorpions Are Pretty Creepy. Ummm, Being By Myself. I'm Scared Of Ending Up Alone. What About You?"

GRAPHICAL FIDELITY / ATTENTION TO DETAIL 8/10 - No surprise here, graphics are top notch, facial animations are dope, everything looks great.... for the most part

STORY 1/10 - For those who were emotionally invested in TLOU and the characters of Joel and Ellie, the plotline, story structure, and characterisation of TLOU2 completely fails to present a satisfying experience

I'm not saying every game has to be happy, and have happy ending or whatever. Telltales TWD, LIMBO, Shadow of the Colossus, Spec Ops: The Line... all of these games had tragic endings and a relatively sorrowful tone throughout. Yet why is the story of these games fantastic, whereas TLOU2 isn't so.
The game uses cheap, artificial, manipulative story mechanics, instead of intelligent or thoughtful characterisation, to garner sympathy for Abby.
For example when playing as Ellie, you are FORCED to:
    (1) kill dogs
    (2) murder screaming wailing people, whose loved ones mourn and cry in terror (making you feel bad about killing them)
    (3) murder a pregnant woman
Whereas when you are playing as Abby, you are FORCED to
    (1) play and have fun with dogs
    (2) defend yourself against evil scary transphobic jungle people
    (3) save kids
People who enjoy the story are confusing SKILFUL DIRECTION with CHEAP MANIPULATION. People seem to be forgetting the Abby is a fundamentally EVIL, IMMORAL character that doesn't deserve sympathy
    In Ellie's darkest moments, she:
    (1) attacks a woman who, aside from being involved in her fathers death, also further titilates and aggravates Ellie by saying Joel died like a little **** Reacting with rage and impetus, she beats the woman up with a metal pipe. However, Ellie is visibly traumatised and shaken by the event, she comes back and is clearly distressed and troubled
    (2) kills a woman who she later finds out is pregnant. When finding out, Ellie's hearing fades, she collapses and starts hyperventilating; clearly disturbed, remorseful and regretful
    In Abby's darkest moments, she:
    (1) shoots an old man in the knee, who just previously saved her life and was completely friendly and warm to her. She proceeds to take VISCERAL PLEASURE in beating him with a golf club, torturing him for so long that she eventually she grows exhausted and needs to remove her jumper. She delivers the killing blow right in front of a screaming girl who begs for his life
    (2) smashes a girls face, and upon finding out that the girl is pregnant, Abby takes immense PLEASURE AND SATISFACTION at the prospect of slitting her throat.
Both girls enact their darkest moments under the impetus of revenge, but it is clear which character takes pleasure in the idea of inflicting pain. Once you understand this, any meaning the story holds completely withers away. TLOU2 is not a satisfying or entertaining story experience, nor is it a story that even needed to be told, given how many other movies, games, books, TV shows have conveyed the consequences of revenge theme better.

Overall 16/30 = 5/10 - not even close to TLOU 10/10 rating and a completely underwhelming venture from Naughty Dog

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So let's get this out of the way, the game from a technical and cinematography perspective is just absolutely wonderful. Landscapes are amazing, gameplay is fluid, and sound design is excellent. Am I over reducing major encounters into QTEs? Yes, been over it for a long time. So with all of that, the game is far above a 1 or a 0 simply on the back of its technical brilliance. The rest of the game does its damnedest to try to drag the whole thing to hell though.

Where the game truly fails is on 1 simple failure of storytelling: you cannot backfill sympathy. The moment that Abby shotguns Joel's leg after he saves her without a second though, my opinion of her crystallizes; especially in a story about revenge. You cannot spend half the game trying to make me care about her and understand her plights and her why after she has already committed the act. Storytelling just doesn't work that way. Maybe my opinion of her shifts if you help me understand her and develop her character BEFORE she kills Joel, but after? No, never going to happen. Same goes with Abby's friends. Most of them, we know that Ellie kills before we get their story, and all of them participated in killing Joel; so how the hell am I supposed to be brought to care about characters who both did the bad thing and I know are about to die? I can't, because the story won't let me even if I wanted to. And I get it, the game is trying to show you how similar Abby and Ellie are and how hatred and revenge is an all consuming flame that begets a cycle of hatred and revenge. I get it, I see what you are attempting to do over there....you just did it extremely poorly.

Beyond that characters are wildly flat in this game. Ellie is considerably less interesting, Joel...well to be honest basically every second Joel is on the screen are the best character moments of the game which amounts to an hour, Tommy doesn't feel like Tommy and is basically regarded as an off-screen psycho-killer the whole game, Jesse is flat, for the life of me I can't see what Ellie sees in Dina or why Ellie spontaneously falls in love with her, and Abby is hard to judge because I am conditioned to hate her from the moment I meet her and nothing that happens over the course of the game overcomes that initial impression. Abbys friends are all over the map, some more interesting than others, but usually by the time we get to learn who they are on Abby's side we already know they are dead on Ellie's side so what is the point of getting invested?

It's a story and character driven game and that is where it is a giant letdown. Maybe the score is higher if the first game wasn't so brilliant. It tries to do a similar thing to the first game: take a simple story concept: "dad does anything to protect daughter" for the first and "revenge for killing my dad" in this one, but spin it in a new and interesting way. It fails this time around unfortunately. It really sucks that Joel and Ellie's relationship which was full of complexity and beauty and realism will never touch our screen again. It really does make me sad.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In this review I will be as honest as possible. Many people are angry at the game and are giving scores of 1 or 0. Does this game deserve them? Absolutely not. Does this game deserve the snobby false 'woke' reviews from the critics? Absolutely not. This game in my eyes is a classic example, much like Wolfenstein young blood and battle field V of a game which tries to force modern day issues and characters into their games to portray the characters in a positive light. Although nothing wrong with that in the slightest, poor execution of such a forced concept can inherently come back to bite you, this game is exactly that. It spends so long trying to force an emotional connection to the new characters but fails to realise that the characters themselves are not only boring and have a disingenuous back story, they also do not even have a fraction of the appeal of the old characters (Joel and Ellie) in terms of personality, likeability and emotional bond between game character and game player. I honestly felt as though the desire to care even slightly about the new characters was being rammed down my throat with mild back stories and forced interactions. What made the LOU great was arguably its characters its story, the magic of which is completely lost. They tried to take the franchise in a new direction at supersonic pace but sadly crashed face first into a wall.

The game play element of the game is amazing though, despite the criticisms of the story, the game is visually striking. Apart from reusing a lot of generic GTA V looking NPC models which is a serious letdown based on how amazing the rest of the game looks the game itself is arguably single-handedly carried by the environment and map design and appearance. Yes there are elements of the gameplay which are boring, however it really pushes the limits of the old console systems to deliver a visually impressive game despite being run on a dated system. If this game were to have released on the new console right now the visuals may have even carried this game to a 7/10, however here we are. With a broken franchise that tried too hard to drive a story with no legitimate foundation that left me as a player completely unable to connect and justify the actions of the new characters and not at all wanting to see any more of their story.

Last of Earth 2 had smooth motion, excellent graphics and technology. However, the first episode was great because it was a work that included more than that. Part 2 didn't take that part, so I can't give a high score.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game was disappointing at best, the gameplay, and the looks were stunning but the story didnt make up for it, as it dumbed down from the first making it all feel pointless. The start was strong but the last nearly 75% dropped down in quality as it goes on. Trying to make you sympathize an antagonist can be great, but naughty dog has done it in a terrible way where it just makes you despise the antagonist more and feel more sympathetic to Marlene. The story is just disappointing and a massive step down from the nearly perfect narrative of the original. This might be the biggest disappointment to me and maybe of this entire year so far, its a shame to see naughty dog go from the great things of uncharted 2, the perfect conclusion with uncharted 4, and one of the greatest narratives of all time with last of us, dumbed down to this big mess. Get the game on sale is my verdict, but even then, be prepared for disappointment in narrative. Expand

-Graphics are stunning and the face capture in most parts of this game makes the brutality of the world come off as much more gruesome than the first one.
    - Gameplay is still very fun, just slight tweaks and slight enhancments than the first one.

    What i Didn't like:
-the story. This is my biggest pet peeve, this game makes already fleshed out charecters make dumb decisions left and right that makes you never feel fully satisfied on where the games taking you the whole way through, and the ending raises this feeling to the highest degree, im all for a sad ending, not a needlessly sad ending that feels as if Neil druckman had just got too ambitious with what he started writing.

The only thing that makes this feel like a last of us game is the title and game play, but the plot is so all over the place and non nonsensical (especially in the later second half) you end up feeling burnt out and unmotivated to even want to see the ending.... just for it to feel just as meh as the rest of it.
i really hope this isnt the future of ND and i really wish i could say this is an 8/10 but its not.

I'm making this rating based on the first 6 hours of the game, and I will update it later. I know entirely that you should not judge a game like this by only it's first dew hours but olease remember that a good game should at least try to hype you at the beginning. This game fails in every way to make you want to continue. The plot reasons are extremely weak and poorly placed during the game so far. Almost every new character they introduced to make the world more alive and more interesting does quite the opposite, most of these new characters are boring to say the least. It doesn't really feel like a The Last of Us sequel, storywise, for these first 6 hours. On the other end we have the gameplay. It was updated and took to today standards... Well, sort of. It does feel like you're playing The Last of Us, but it gives off too much a weird feeling of being an action game, and not a great narrative driven story like it's predecessor. One special note goes to the enemies: I've noticed, and recorded with the Share Button, that most enemies literally spawn behind me so they can take easy swing at me while I had no way of avouding it. Not only enemies spawn like that (it doesn't always happen but when it did it was annoying as hell) but their detection range for the olayer is inconsistent. Sometimes you can get in front of their face undetected, some others they will spot you from like 5 miles away. Weirdly enough, aside from the very early parts, it takes too long for a story cutscene to another which is kinda bad for the "game with a story", there are not enough driving points and like said before the player is not encourager to continue, you get easily bored as soon as you end the very prologue. I was so let down I had to pass the controller to someone else to continue for a while and they got bored too. The graphics is great, but some animations are disappointing, mainly the jump animation, and the climbing animations. The dodge animation is bad but not that bad. The vegetation is great but then you see the "wind waves" on the grass and start vomiting. There were also some disappearing buildings, but they restored themselves after a few seconds of invisibility. Unremarkable early game for a sequel.

I'm terrible at making "reviews" and I hope no one ever asks me to review games for a job.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I just had to create an account to review this game.
obviously it´s not a 0/10 but it´s not perfect either.
The story makes little sense. We as a player don´t even get the option to have an individual impact. A whole revenge plot that won´t let you decide if you want to take revenge in the end or not.
If this were to be a movie or a tv show it would be fine I guess. The gameplay is basically the same, though map design changed in a good way.
Additionally, I like the accessibility features.
All in all, I would give this game a 7/10. This, however, is the rating I would give using some unbalanced rating scale like IGN´s, where a 5 means absolute garbage like Fallout 76.
To balance rating scales out, this is a 5/10.

While playing this game I was hooked by the story, it is a well written story, with it moments that seem forced, I'm all for diversity in a game, as long as it's done well, and having Abbie to become the playable character in the se one half was a bad move, as her character wasn't the best written, and the way they ruined everything TLU1 established hurt me as a fan, having Joel die and then ellie but it just was too over the top and the sex scenes were not needed at all.

For the gameplay it's simple too simple with slight improvements from the first a game doesn't have to be complex in its gameplay but it has to be done well, and the simple controls get repetitive too quickly which just left me getting bored.

This game is the perfect example of what not to do to a sequel of a game. the reason why it doesnt get a 1 is because the game looks stunning, and they atleast made the combat less clunky, but everything else is just not good. the story is very poorly written. im playing about half of the game as the person who kills joel. which would be okay i guess if it was done good but it wasnt the game has plot holes. all these charcters including abby are just so boring and thrown in your face telling you to care. None of the new characters are interesting so when most of them died i just stared blank staring at my monitor thinking when the **** do we meet someone we give a **** about. Combat is better but the enemy types get really boring to fight against, not alot of new enemies really that make a drastic change to differ from the regualr combat loop gameplay that gets old after the first 7 hours. the enemy A.I. is really bad for 2020 standards of AAA gaming. Ican be taking down someone right infront of another enemy A.I and they just stare sometimes they see you but most of the time they dont. Most of the game as Abby was not very fun at all. They try to shape her as a character and make you sympathize with her but yet again why would i care for someone who killed one of the main characters from the last game. overall the game is lack luster if your the many people who bought the game for a great story and solid gameplay your going to miss it here. do not trust the main stream critics on this one over all the game is bad. gameplay is stuck in the past with a story that is so distant from the first last of us. if you like the gameplay from the first that much you might enjoy this game but from a story stand point its a mess, all over the place with some plot holes and questions that still leave thinking how certain things got some places . overall not worth buying unless in bargin bin Expand

Personally I believe if you have not played the first game you have a high likelihood to enjoy this game because you won’t know how far the story telling has fallen by comparison. I’ll just offer some advice... Old fans: Don’t buy the game. Save your money and assume the story ended with the first game.
New fans: I’m sure you can find the first game for cheap. While the mechanics are a downgrade because the game came out years ago.. the story is much better.

The above text is just my personal take on my experience with game. It is truly my opinion and should not stop you from making your own decision. I’m rating it a 5 out of 10 because creating a functional game earns you a 5 out of 10 in my book. The rest of the points are earned through innovation of mechanics and an excellent story. There weren’t any major innovations to game play in my opinion and the story was jarring and unbelievable to a player that has prior experience and exposure to the characters through the first game.

To preface this, I was a massive fan of the first game and more specifically, it’s characters. Joel and Ellie’s relationship felt natural, as well as their character decisions and development - and while the game overall had a dark tone due to the world it was set in, there was still a sense of optimism and hope carried by the wonderful father-daughter relationship that developed over a well-paced, simplistic story. The story wasn’t particularly original (much like the newest title) but it was told without trying to overcomplicate or overanalyse and let the relationship carry the game. Unfortunately, what players loved about the first game is destroyed in the sequel. I fail to see who this game was supposed to appeal to - most of the new characters that the game desperately tries to get you to sympathise with are thoroughly unlikeable, and not once did I feel guilty for enacting Ellie’s vengeance upon them. The game is pretty explicit in that it is wants you desperately not to feel like this and does everything to make you feel bad about killing. This wouldn’t be an awful plot device if used in a different form of media, but forcing the player to kill and then say ‘wow, you’re a really bad person’ isn’t effective and the ‘violence is bad, revenge destroys everything’ motto that is echoed throughout the game is painful and inaffective at, well, anything.

The game isn’t without positive moments, though. There are flashbacks with our loved protagonists from the first game that genuinely brought me to tears, and the gameplay is a nice upgrade from the first game although not revolutionised. Ultimately, the Last of Us Part II is at its best when focusing on the relationships between characters - while I thoroughly disliked most of the new additions, Ellie’s girlfriend Dina stood out as one of my favourites. She is funny, passionate, and their relationship feels natural. Every time the game changed to focus on its antagonist, I just wanted to get back to more important plot moments with this duo. To sum it up, The Last of Us Part II took some great narrative risks that didn’t pay off but has redeemable qualities. The developers obviously aimed to make this a harrowing experience that would make the player feel depressed and look at the original characters in a new light - instead, it feels painfully hollow and disconnected from everything the first game did so well.

The Last Of Us Part II, grabs this concept, especially in the trailers selling the game that we will see the continuation of this premise, but in the end was all a manipulation from the marketing team, and probably in the future will have some legal repercussions.

It's true that every human being has different points of view, but for me it's unthinkable what they did to the story of this sequel. Some people are defending it was bold and risky, but for me was a simple act of butchering one of the most acclaimed franchises of the Playstation family.

In the end this game could be a 9 or a 10 if it wasn’t a sequel, but that not being the case, I think it’s the first big disappointment from Naughty Dog, for that my score only reflects the hard work and crunching from everyone involved and actors, because they don’t deserve the hate of the choices that were made by the story board department.

I fell in love with the lore and the main characters and thought that the next installment will explore the origin of the cordyceps strain, the actions of the various state, military and paramilitary factions and further the story of Joel and Ellie in this "new brave world". Instead, they kill off the main character of the first part, via presenting him as a gullible old man, and they make you play as his murderer for half the game, they make the lesser-main character of the first part, Ellie, the mid-boss(!) of the game and they give her no resolution, as she gets in the end lonely, without being able to do the one thing that had from Joel, play the guitar, as the murderer of Joel bit off two of her fingers, who also got free, because after killing a small town, Ellie let her (yeah, the murderer is an androgynous freak) just because. They literally* spit in the face of their original fans (*a nobody spits on the dead body of Joel after he is being brutally killed). No amount of graphical fidelity, not to mention miniscule gameplay advancement, can weigh in for the atrocious story and character development, along with the insulting treatment of established icons. I also wanted to rate it lower at the start, but I'm not going to because as much as I believe the story suffers I think it could've been so much better if only one thing changed.

If Joel didn't give his name to Abby's group at the start of the game, it would have improved drastically. We get more time to let Abby grow on us as a character, and the player has more time to spend with Joel. If she progressed naturally before finding out and making that decision, it would reduce the need for all the flashbacks in the game while also making it less painful for the player to play as Abby. It would make some people happy with the end of the game because they'd want Abby to live. As it stands, the players want nothing more than to avenge Joel with Ellie because that's the only character who matters before Joel dies.

For the first 2 hours of gameplay, you feel right at home in the world. But it soon begins to fall apart. It is hard for someone who has replayed the first game multiple times to realize that the sequel is not up to par. TLOU is about characters and story. Many people, myself included, did not play the game for the gameplay, which is just like a lot of other games. It was the story and the chemistry between Joel and Ellie as a father-daughter duo that drew us all in. Part two feels like it completely disregards the relationship established in the first and the characters seem to change personality and consistency just to further the plot along. There are times where the characters feel like a different character entirely and I was left thinking, “(insert character name) wouldn’t have done that. They were smarter than that.”

After about 7 hours of gameplay, it begins to feel flat. In a world full of undead, even the living lose life. The story becomes cliche and predictable, and there is a section that is about 10 hours long that focuses on things that have nothing to do with the main story except that it is trying to establish a backstory for a new character. In the first game you learned about the characters as they pushed through the story, a 10 hour flashback was not needed to establish the characters. A lot of the times, things were just unnecessary and by the halfway point I was just wanting it to be over because I was just bored.

Boring is not a word I would like to use to describe The Last of Us 2, but it is what it is.

The ending is anticlimactic and it feels as if the game was trying too hard to be artsy and deep instead of just telling a good story. I felt so much emotion for these characters in the first game, and to this day I can’t get through the prologue without crying, but I felt nothing in part 2. The characters feel so different and inconsistent that if it weren’t for the fact that clickers were present, you could easily forget that this is even a TLOU game.

All that said, the graphics, soundtrack, and acting are phenomenal. The story, is flat and feels more dead than the undead themselves.

This game is definitely getting bombed by negative reviews on purpose, but don’t just ignore the audience score because of that because there are some valid reasons for disliking this game.

An absolute character assassination. The decisions Ellie, Joel and Tommy make completely out of character just for that sake of driving this petty plot forward.
Though the graphics, acting and overall detail on this game are the best there is, gameplay feels the same as it's predecessor that came out 7 years ago.

I don't want to give this game an even lower score but considering that the last of us heavily relies on its story I can't give it anything better.

The average: Gameplay, similar to the first one, it feels dated (very PS3 like) and while I can forgive ND going so conservative in Uncharted 4 because it was their first game on PS4, in this one it´s underwhelming to the point that some mechanics (like the "radar" where you can detect close enemies) just feels akward to use. The only innovation is a button to dodge enemies that paradoxily feels like a step backwards because it just makes the mele combat too easy reducing the challenge of some enemies.

The (very) bad: The story. Clearly, the story it´s at the core of the game, and after watching the ending the only world to describe it is pretentious. I won´t do spoilers but most of the plot feels convoluted and lacks originality, reducing it to a basuc and uninteresting conventional revenge tale. The motivations of the characters are pure clichés and all of them lack real character archs (to the point that once you reach the ending of the game, most of their decisions simply make no sense. On top of that, the overall treatment of the narrative theme ("revenge is bad) is treated on a very oversimplified and even childish way, and to compensate for this lack of real deepness, the story constantly looks for a dark and edgy tone, including lots of violence and deaths of characters for shock value every time the script reaches a dead point (which sadly is quite often) but paradoxically, since all this characters are for the most part poorly written, uninteresting and pretty much copy-pasted from many other zombie films/games we all have seen before, it´s hard to feel anything for them besides indifference. You can see the game is trying to overcompensate for the underwhelming writting, overrealiance on chichés and poor character work by constantly telling the player what he/she has to feel and think instead of showing a story that naturally leads the player to feel that way. Also, they had a terrible narrative idea for the second part of the story that makes the whole thing feel like a chore. Clearly, the good reviews praising the great story of this game are either a product of people falling for the trick of confusing edginess with good storytelling or just people that wanted to like this game no matter what given how good TLOU 1 was, either way time will put this game where it belongs, and it will be remembered for being nothing but a pretentious sequel (if remembered at all).

If you're simply looking to play this game for the gameplay then you will thoroughly enjoy the experience.

Unfortunately that's not what most people are looking for in this game. Unlike the gameplay and visuals I can not give the storytelling the same level of praise.

The Last of Us Part II makes incredibly strange choices in storytelling that constantly made me want to quit and put my controller down. The majority of new additional characters are incredibly unlikeable and/or flat out boring yet the game wants to try and force them down your throats when you'd rather they just get killed off. That added on by the fact that they feel like replacements for characters you'd already grown to love from the first game.

This is coming from somebody who thoroughly loved the first game, if you've come to experience another incredibly emotional journey and the continuation of Ellie and Joel's story then I'm sorry to say that you'll be incredibly disappointed.

Graphics and Sound excellent, as always. The lore... hours and hours that builds nothing, kills a lot and tries to surprise the player with "first game shocking moments x500" and nothing more. Don't care about the feminist/gender thing, doesn't bother me at all, the game's story is worse than the first one and nothing will change this.

The good: visuals are absolutely awesome, looks amazing. The bad: there is almost no improvement in mechanics or AI from the last game, yeah you can jump and go prone and the dogs add a new factor but no real innovation here. All you are doing is just going to one box, fighting, finding items and then moving onto the next box. The worst: The story really did not do it for me, I loved the relationships in the first game but this was all thrown out the door with this. I really didn’t care about any of the characters in this story (except Joel) and by the end was really ambivalent if Ellie or Abby died. Expand

I truly loved the feel of playing this game(all the love to the grunts of Naughty Dog). But I did not love the world I was trapped in.

I maybe emotional, but I know this game isnt more than a 6/10. Again, I truly love the passion that the core of ND puts into these games and it shows. But what also reveals itself is maybe some leadership issues. This comes from a passionate fan of ND.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Disappointing from what I expected. Gameplay while sometimes repetitive, can be fun (surprisingly while playing as Abby). I see what they were trying to do but they could’ve done it so much better and maybe in a less jumbled up way. Graphics are fantastic it’s the story however that was bad. Ellie and Dina, ok pretty cool. Joel dying, not as cool as I’d have wanted it but he had to die. Abby, cool story getting pushed but falls flat most times, forcing you to empathize with her and hate Ellie and Joel. The game, right off the bat, makes you hate Abby and nothing she can do really makes you root for her in a meaningful way. Again, not a bad game, just disappointing. Expand

If you enjoyed the first game because of the story, characters and relationships, this game is not for you. Due to some questionable story-line choices, the game feels like a slog to get through and tries to force its players into a middle school ethics class rather than engross us in an enthralling story. The graphics are some of the best this generation, but the game-play rarely features anything innovative and feels like more of the same as the first game. Overall, averaging everything out I would give this game a 5/10 and similar to Game of Thrones season 8 and Star Wars - Rise of Skywalker, this is one sequel that will sorely disappoint even its most loyal fans.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game was impressive in regards to its visuals, sound design, voice acting, scenery and game play. What brought this game down was the story and more specifically its execution.

It opts to go for the bleakest possible outcomes in every scenario. It glorifies its misery. It cynically and naively assumes the worst of humanity out of literally every single person left in the world.

The game wants you to understand there are multiple sides to every story/person but in doing so, it forces that down your throat while almost ignoring all attempts at developing other parts of the story. An example of this is when Abby kills Joel towards the beginning of the game without (to the knowledge of the player) any reason. This immediately makes the player despise the character, regardless of what justifications they may have in the future. It makes the player completely unable to empathize with Abby getting her revenge. But it constantly tries to make her more likeable and more human in most of her scenes, while at the same time making Ellie and Joel look as bad as possible.

Then there's that ending. Put simply, "revenge is bad" but only if you're Ellie. Whereas Abby gets hers and more.

The entire game is just the player watching helplessly and annoyed as the characters make bad decision after bad decision that you don't want them to make. It removes player agency entirely,

    For a story-driven game, the story was a let-down.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
