This is not a happy ending kind of video game, it's more real than anything I've played before and the experience is something else. The story is very interesting and there's a sadness to it that's quite difficult to understand and accept, but kudos to ND for making it possible. There are parts of the game that are hard to get through because you feel this sadness, this anger towards some characters, you feel that life is not fair and you wish it were different. The characters were real, interesting and very deep, unlike anything I've seen before in a video game. The gameplay is fun, the mechanics are VERY different from the first one (especially in combat), but it makes it a lot of fun because you can play the same level using different techniques and strategies, which makes this game fun to replay many times.
In terms of the storytelling, I thought it was a huge risk that ND took with the way things went down, but ultimately, it was the right choice. I believe this game will mark all future gaming experiences, where video games start merging with other types of media (like films), which makes this game all that more interesting.
TLOU II is a must play, it's not the same to watch or stream it as it is to play it; the experience is very unique and different for everyone, which only adds to how awesome the game is. I recommend it for all fans of the original as well as people who look for games that touch heavy subjects and are not afraid to rethink their thoughts and ideals.

A fantastic game that deals with the fallout from the original story while presenting an entirely new narrative to interweave with it. Naughty Dog hits it out of the park with the same emotional intensity of the first game, and manages to do something no other game in my playing history has done: get me actually conflicted about the weight of my actions during gameplay. The only reason I don't give it a perfect 10 is because the enemy AI is still a bit silly at times (multiple enemies walking into the exact same spot I've melee killed three of their comrades in) and there were definitely times where I felt the game dragged during obvious "scavenging breaks" between action sequences. But ND does a solid job of still incorporating enough dialogue and story into these breaks that they still have a flow to them. Players will be split on some plot points, but I think that those automatically giving a 1 rating based on leaks alone obviously missed the point that the developers were making here. If you've already ruined the game for yourself by reading leaks, that's on you, because you missed out on an incredible experience that lives up to its predecessor. Expand

Frankly, I was a bit skeptical about this game being able to overcome 7 years of building up hype to deliver an experience on par with the first title. But this turned out to be a fantastic game. The game play, style, pacing, combat and mechanics all had great continuity coming from the original and the environment was often nothing short of stunning. Like the first game, it is violent, gritty, intense, heavy on story, and a lot of fun to play. Also, for what it's worth, I didn't encounter a single crash, glitch, or bug.

But, as this is about Joel and Ellie we're talking about, the story is a critical aspect of the experience.

The extremely polarized user reviews is understandable. If somebody hasn't played the first game or been dragged into the depths of the hype they might simply and objectively enjoy the game. However, for those who have spent the last 7 years nurturing deep emotional connections to the characters and theorizing how the story should play out, this game is going to have some tough pills to swallow.

First, the story and character development of this game is very different thematically. While both games are set in dark times with characters making morally gray choices, there are still overriding "warm fuzzy" tones in the first game. The development of a father-daughter like relationship, the building trust between two trauma-hardened characters, and the drivers for their journey are ultimately designed to evoke positive emotional responses. But in Part 2 the theme is much more dark. The story and character progression build on hate and vengeance. The game is designed to make the player uncomfortable and even sad and angry.

Second, the lengths at which the game goes to evoke these emotional responses extends beyond the story and character progression alone and into the sequencing and game play. For example, the game forces the player out of the context of their current progression to play from the perspective of a different character--one the player is not supposed to like very much. I generally hate this tactic (I want to throw the controller every time an Assassin's Creed game sends me into the Animus). But I saw it coming during my play through and I went in with an open mind. And, as designed, I did hate it at first. But I quickly adapted to viewing the world and events through another lens. I ended up enjoying getting more depth to the otherwise peripheral characters, playing with a different style using alternative gear and upgrade paths, and seeing additional post-apocalyptic social perspectives.

But again, the theme of hate and vengeance runs throughout the game, and this additional depth and perspective only adds to the loathe/love dichotomy of the characters and their circumstances. Or, as Ellie might say, "this is F**ked".

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Incredible game. One moment it had be tearing up, then it had me laughing, and then it scared the **** out of me. The acting and writing in this game are unparalleled. If there was an Oscar for video game acting, this game would clean house.

The game is also filled with jaw dropping set-pieces and some of the best animation I've ever seen in a game.

I understand why some people are upset or disappointed with this game, even if I don't share their sentiment. The deciding factor of whether you like this story or not rests on accepting its inciting incident. Personally, I like the direction it takes. The only death that could have provoked such a warpath for Ellie is the death of Joel, and I thought it was handled beautifully, especially the scenes of Ellie reminiscing in Joel's home, her inability to finish Joel's song, and the emotionally resonant flashbacks.

Liking the story also hinges on how you feel about Abby. I personally liked Abby--I found her personality more likable than Ellie's. She had a deeper moral depth, and her reasons for killing Joel are, I believe, justified.

The score should also be mentioned. It had me hooked right from the start with several standout moments like the early sequence in the mountain forest. The music lent itself to the tension. And **** this is a tense game. At several points I had to pause to catch my breath, especially in the subway tunnels, the Descent, and Ground Zero.

The Last of Us Part II is a heavy game, dealing with difficult themes. Where the first game explores the lengths one goes to for love, this one explores the lengths of hate and revenge. Joel gave up the development of a cure for his love for Ellie, and Ellie gave up everything for her hatred of Abby. And I believe Ellie would have lost even more if she had killed Abby, because the satisfaction of revenge is rarely something that lasts, like what Abby experienced after killing Joel.

Overall, from the tense gameplay to the gripping story, this is hands down one of the best games I've ever experienced. I highly recommend it, even if I know some people will not like it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

So, with that out of the way, if you've read the leaks and decided not to play it, you're doing yourself a massive disservice. This game is a technical and, yes, storywise, a masterpiece. I didn't personally like some of the elements in the game. But that doesn't make it *objectively* bad. It's like this - mango may be my favorite ice cream flavor. So it doesn't mean all other ice cream flavors are bad. I can still enjoy very much many other ice cream flavors if the one I want isn't available.

This is a LONG game. It really takes you on a journey that turns several characters' fates on their heads. It makes you feel intense hate, grief, joy, misery and fear. So, buckle up. Let all your preconceptions and prejudices go and just let the creators tell the story they wanted to tell.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

    - Grande quantidade de NPCs e organizações mal desenvolvidas; Exemplo: Isaac, o líder da WLF, tem uma introdução pesada e depois uma morte banal;
    - Uma tentativa clara de recriar um sentimento de apego entre Abby e Lev nos moldes do primeiro jogo porém feito de uma forma nada realística (o primeiro jogo mostra 1 ano de convivência entre os personagens e não 3 dias...)
    - Diversas mortes “instantâneas” que parecem planejadas com a intenção apenas de causar um choque;
    - Os personagens centrais não dialogam entre si. A série nunca teve discursos longos, mas nem um breve grito de “o Joel matou meu pai!”? As protagonistas se encontram em pontos diversos e nem extravasam toda a carga emocional que se espera que esteja em pauta.

Everybody hates on the story because Joel died, but I thought it made a very compelling motivation for Ellie. The Last of Us Part II takes bold choices and bold leaps when it comes to its characters and story, in order to justify its existence as a sequel. One can argue that the first game never needed a sequel, and this is completely unnecessary, but this sequel expands on ideas of the original to keep things complex and fresh.

The gameplay has greatly improved upon the first, with the addition of multiple new mechanics and enemies, with huge environments that boast beautiful scenery. Some people might be angry with the addition of new characters, but the game uses juxtaposition in its narrative to draw similarities and comparisons between its two main protagonists.

In all honesty, the strength of the plot lies within the player's ability to empathize with the game's characters, and if you as a player decides to go into this without an open mind, then the experience will be nothing but shallow and it will be extremely unrewarding. It's okay not to like the game, but to try not to understand it first and bash it upon completion is not what the game intends for you as a player, and is certainly not the right way to approach it.

My only problem with the game is it's uneven pacing during some parts, but that's mostly due to my play style, and how I took my time exploring every little corner.

Overall, The Last of Us Part II is a worthy sequel to its predecessor in my eyes, and is extremely ambitious in its narrative department, albeit a few pacing issues.

So much of it, from the brutal and tactical gameplay, to the hauntingly melancholic score, to the beautiful animation and graphical realism many have come to expect from Naughty Dog, work very well together. The new enemy types are exciting, and the old ones are revamped to make for more engaging interaction. In all of these respects, I was blown away and thankful for the work of the developers in crafting this stark and gritty world.
And that brings me to the hot topic of this game: The Story. I feel I should get this out of the way: Naughty Dog owes you nothing. They did not disrespect you or the characters in this fictional world by making a daring choice in storytelling. In not playing it safe, this game separates itself from many in the medium, and for better or worse, I’m appreciative of their decision.
Also, hating on this game because of its realistic representation of minorities that frequently go unnoticed in video games (and other mediums) is not a valid reason of disliking this work of art, and you need to think about your priorities if LGBTQIA+ characters in a story cause you to devolve into a state of primitive anger. I will say that I do have issues with this story, the chief one being that I feel this experience is too long. Don’t give me wrong, this game gives you a lot to do and a lot to see, but I feel the game’s central messages would’ve been elevated by cutting out the fluff and encounters that don’t add much to the game other than fodder to kill. A longer game does not equate to a better tale.
Additionally, I feel that, although the environments in this game were breathtaking at nearly all points, having 15+ hours take place in a location in which everything feels very “same-y” hindered the game, and made it drabber than it needed to be (though this may have been intentional to elicit the tone).
Furthermore, at some points the story and gameplay clash in a way that’s contradictory to the main theme that’s trying to be brought across. This may be a little spoiler-y, but having a plot about how we demonize the “antagonist” our story falls under its own weight when there’s certain factions that are pretty irredeemably horrible (i.e. using slave labor).
My final qualm is that, at some (few) points, certain story elements feel very basic, as if the audience would lack the ability to understand nuance so they made certain parallels excruciatingly obvious to see, which I feel was a bit too much (though by seeing the angry and divided fan base, I can see why this may have been the correct decision).
However, the rest of the story and plot were explored tremendously. Motifs of dehumanization, guilt, PTSD, forgiveness, empathy, and family are powerfully used to tell an emotionally exhausting tale with important themes. The character’s feel truly and utterly human, with real quirks and fears and faults and traumas that make them relatable, even with the apocalyptic backdrop. The stories strengths lie in its ability to develop the central casts’ arcs, and to depict none of them as evil monsters but flawed tragics. You begin to learn about yourself just as the characters are learning about themselves. And by the end, my morals were conflicted, (slight thematic spoiler ahead) but ultimately saddened to see how easy it is to commit atrocities in the name of love. Subplots are beautifully realized and relationships between the people in this world feel intimate are soul-crushingly impactful. Huge story beats, as well as small ones, told both in cutscenes and in in-game moments, further your connection into the characters, story, and world of The Last Of Us as a whole. And goddamn, certain story moments just made me want to bawl my eyes out. By the end, I felt relieved, happy, distraught, and empty all at the same time, which I believe is what Naughty Dog wanted, all in order to convey one essential tenet (of which is not my own words, as I’m quoting “Girlfriend Reviews”; slight thematic spoiler ahead): “There is no difficulty slider in game - or in real life - to forgive someone” (yourself included). I will say I prefer the first title in this series, but I do feel that they compliment each other well (and obligatory message to play the first one before this one). Furthermore, I have a feeling this game may grow on me, as some days I feel that the game is a 6/10 and others a 10/10 (8/10 is me trying to be objective). This is not to say that any real criticism is invalid!
So in conclusion, I feel that this game that delves into a rich world with a strong (if not slightly muddled) message is worth experiencing if you’re emotionally willing. Examine your biases, and try it with an open mind.

I was going to wait till I had finished to write the review, but I can't wait. I've played through Ellie's 3 days in Seattle and am almost through Abby's Seattle Day 1. As a huge fan of Part 1, I believe this game has made some great improvements and I don't have much to complain about.
Visually this game is absolutely stunning (10 out of 10). The sound and music are also appropriately intense. The sounds of the undead are thoroughly terrifying. I like the larger variety of weapons and upgrades and that you can upgrade to compliment your specific playing style. I like the rope puzzles and didn't feel there were too many of them like some people complained about. I'm a stealth freak (AC is my favorite game series) so I really liked being able to go prone and hide in grass. I didn't mind the jump feature either. People need to remember you're playing as normal people (women at that) in a very normal world not some parkour expert like AC or Prince of Persia. The same goes for the other shooting and fighting mechanics. You're playing as two women (one of whom is tiny), you can't possibly expect her to have the fighting prowess of Kratos. Playing as a person with normal physical abilities adds to the suspense and sense of danger.
I read a lot of complaints about the AI of the NPCs. In most cases I found it to be easier to navigate than Part 1 due to the openness of the environments. I felt I was able to move and hide and complete almost all kills by stealth. It seemed a little too easy sometimes as I felt the other NPCs should have been able to see me at times while I was choking out their friend within a few feet of them. I did like that there were two human factions to face plus the undead, which gave more variety to the game.
I felt there were more jump scares in Part 2, which I'm not a huge fan of. 1. This game is already terrifying and doesn't need more of that and 2. I'm a stealth player and don't like being forced into combat. But, these reasons are both personal to me.
Now regarding the controversial part...the story.....Maybe I'm a cold-hearted robot, but I don't mind the story at all, and am even enjoying playing as Abby. I hadn't read spoilers before I played but I full-well assumed Joel wasn't long for this world (Come on, he's the Obi-wan of this franchise, the "mentor" archetype ALWAYS dies...just like the horse, RIP Starlight). If the story was just a rehashing of Joel and Ellie on some other mission people would have ripped the game apart for being boring and a repeat of Part 1. What the creators did was create a vast world that gets explored by two different characters so you can see many different nuances of this post-apocalyptic world, which I loved. I really liked seeing the Stadium, Jackson and how the different societies were set up.
I keep thinking the people who are so bent out of shape over this story are the same ones who were so bent when Ned Stark died. Give the creators a chance, go with the flow. No person is all good or all bad, they are what they are, its a video game (its not actually a real dog you're killing, chill out). I liked the dialogue and things revealed in side convos and cut scenes. One pivotal moment for me was when Ellie told Jesse that she'd go back with him, which seemed to me she was lying and knew it. She was in too far, past the point of no return. I read a lot of complaints about her doing things that were out of character. It does seem that she should have turned back on her revenge quest long before, especially since she was actually mad at Joel for the choice he made at the end of Part 1. I feel like she's got guilt for being the only one who is immune, she seems to have a lot of emotion she doesn't know how to deal with, she doesn't seem to feel like she belongs...like in the dialogue w/ Dina where she's talking about settling down on a farm, you get a sense that Ellie has too restless of a spirit for that based on her responses. Again, there's a lot of nuance in the side conversations which seems to have been missed by a lot of the reviewers.
The game is extremely tense and emotionally draining. Its an adrenaline suck for sure. It is somber and deep and I can see how its definitely not the game for everyone. This game is not for those who want to play a happy game, this game is here to suck on your life force and it does an excellent job of that and there's nothing wrong with it. The reason I love gaming so much is that you can be immersed into all kinds of different worlds and be made to feel all kinds of emotions.
Overall I'm greatly enjoying the gameplay, the environments, the larger levels, the game mechanics and even the story. I'm taking it as it comes and not getting bent out of shape wishing for a different story.
If you go into this game knowing its not here to make you happy, you might just really enjoy it!

Perhaps they forced the ratial and homosexual topics, i think they've done it for some minorities, but were not necesary. The madness that Ellie have, and the anger she feel towards Abby feels so real, you play an entire game with Joel and she kills he with a club. But later you undestand her motives. The violence of the war between SCARS and WOLFS is simply impressive. And the final enemies with their torture methods are so sadic that I really loved it, this is a history of revenge and its consequences, she lost everyone she loved one time, her major fear was this, being alone, thing Ellie earned with the promises she make and the acts she comitts.
To resume, the best graphics game i've ever played, it didnt betrayed the first game in style, and the fact Ellie lose 2 fingers, so she cannot play the guitar (the unique object she kepts from joel, also his watch) is the pay for all the anger she one time had. 9/10

I am pleased with the story of The Last of Us Part II. it's a story that takes you on a roller coaster of emotions and you understand that the main characters (Ellie and Abby) are not good, They are simply the result of a bad decision that could be selfish for anyone who does not have the happiness of being a father. Both have lost a loved one And they launch on a journey of revenge that leaves so much collateral damage.

In general, you have to think about the whole journey and how an action sets in motion results that will affect you in the future, it happened to Joel, it happened to Ellie and also to Abbie.

The people complaining about the story in the game simply don't understand storytelling or basic narrative structure. The point of the ending is to show that both Ellie and Abby share many qualities, and are very similar characters. The point of having these morally grey characters is to enhance the connection the audience feels to the characters. This is something that Naughty Dog have succeeded in, which is why I give this game a 10. Expand

For such a simple message the game is really long. The creators of this game seemed like they really hated Joel. The game goes out of its way to give Joel an extremely brutal death. His actions that led to his death were very out of character for him as well ( giving out his name to armed strangers being the main one).

TL;DR Fun game but feels like a waste of time.

I was amazed by it and right after finishing wanted to shout into the world how amazing the game is. So don’t let yourself be too influenced by some of the hate (not saying there can’t be legitimate criticism!) and just play it, you will not regret it. The story holds up, and while it is very dark and leaves you kind of depressed for a few days after playing it, it will just really stick with you. If you don’t like consuming that kind of media, which is absolutely legitimate, you might want to stay away from this one. ND definitely took some risks story-telling wise, but they greatly paid off in my opinion. It’s a top 3 game of the decade for me. P.S.: Really do yourself a favor and play TLOU 1 right before, even if you’ve already played it. It’ll make you care for the story and the characters so much more and you’ll pick up on things that you might’ve missed otherwise. TLOU Part II is definitely not a stand-alone title in my opinion. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What is to be said about this game? The first one was a masterclass of storytelling with gripping and emotional moments. Genuinely likable characters throughout the game and an inseparable, unforgettable bond between Joel and Ellie. Excellent combat and unique enemy types to an already stale genre in 2013 was a welcome addition to a fantastic narrative. The Last Of Us was a rollercoaster of a game that cemented itself in gaming history.

Now, remember my question? The Last Of Us Part II takes everything we loved about the first game and throws it aside for shock value and a shallow revenge plot with no resolution. Joel, a character universally loved by fans, is playable for 5 minutes and killed off within an hour. Nothing about it is compelling. We just get thrown into the shoes of a character we know nothing about on a mission to kill a settler from Jackson. Joel’s death is so rushed that it feels like the creators didn’t care about him in favor of this new group. One the group members even spits on him. A massive middle finger to fans of the first game. The first hour is an indicator of the rest of the game.

You then take control of Ellie, on her way to Seattle to get revenge on Abby, the character who killed Joel. Ellie’s section are so drawn out and boring though. The gameplay of TLOU2 hardly differentiates from its 2013 counterpart, with the exception of a jump button and the ability to to probe. Scavenging the vastly larger areas feels like a task and gets exhausting quick. The gameplay in TLOU1 worked because the narrative was so strong and you wanted to keep going. Here, I just wanted to get it over with so I could move on. That’s never a good sign in a game. Ellie’s segment ends with Abby finding her hideout after she left her map at the scene of Abby’s slain friends. You then take control of Abby, playing through Seattle again from her perspective. This is the problem with the second half of the game. Why would Naughty Dog have us play as Joel’s killer? It’s almost like they want us to like this character after what she did. They try way too hard as well. The problem being, none of her crew is interesting. They even let a pregnant woman go on the frontlines of combat, even though there are more capable characters seen around camp while playing the game. While Abby’s gameplay sections are the highlight of the game, it’s marred by the subpar story and characters. The ending is the biggest slap in the face in recent gaming history. After Ellie gets the upper hand on Abby in a fight, she decides to let her go without any explanation. Why did we just play this entire game? For that? There’s resolution at all and everything we did was for nothing. I’m conclusion, this game is a monumental disappointment. Sure the graphics, attention to detail, and combat are all top notch, but the forced moments, uninteresting characters, subpar story with no resolution, ruining established characters, and tiresome gameplay really hold this back from legendary status. I was honestly happy when the credits started rolling and I have never wanted that from a game before. We should have been playing as Abby in a flashback from the beginning of the game after she saw her father murdered. Take time to get to know her and her regiment for her revenge against Joel. Ellie and Joel should have had more gameplay together up until Ellie learns the truth about the hospital. She runs off and meets Abby, who she saves from an infected attack and joins her on her journey back to Jackson. They form a bond along the way and it’s the duo we play as. Then it’s back in Jackson that she learns about Joel and kills him which drives Ellie over the edge to seek revenge. That’s way more compelling than the story they took 7 years to tell us. I am not looking forward to a third game after this.

An exercise in finding empathy and resolution in a broken world populated by extremely flawed characters. A title that demands self-reflection on how we condition ourselves to selectively elevate and suppress flaws and virtues of people based on entrenched biases.
A game about the dangers of emotionally missing a forest for its trees that hilariously (yet predictably) translated in a vocal and immature critical backlash from people guilty of that same mistake.
Ignore the silly user score. Its something special that I'm sure will influence other creative minds in the industry to elevate story-telling to levels this industry never tried to. At least I hope so. It would be a shame if this level of maturity, respect for the audience's intelligence and courage went to waste with no follow-up.
Buy it. A joy to play and a story that stays with you long after the console is turned off.
    A classic to be remembered.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To be quite frank, this game hurt me. It left me emotionally scarred. Joel’s death was brutal and the fact that you controlled Abby right before that segment made the whope scene even more gruesome. I felt like i betrayed Joel. So i understood Ellie’s urge for vengence. I was ready to make Abby pay. I loved the romance between Ellie and Dina and how both really loved eachother. When the change happened and I had to play Abby I was at first furious, but after seeing her interact with her friends and with other people I realised that she’s alot like Joel and Ellie and it’s not uninamaginable that they could have bern friends if things were different. I believe that one of the most touching themes of the game is the dehumanization of the enemy. Abby isn’t looking at Joel as an individual, he’s just the **** that killed her father. Ellie is not seeing the persons she’s killing throughout the story as persons, merely as obstacles in her way to revange. I think it was genius for the creators to humanize Abby and to show that she’s a person who’s flawed, but also that can crack bad joke and that can have fun with the people that she loves. In most media she would be a moustache twirling villain. I understood why Abby wanted to torture and kill Joel, if someone killed your parent, you’ll most likely want to do the same thing. Thinking that this act of violence will solve anything is wrong. That’s way the heartbreak of Ellie leaving Dina and JJ to finally kill Abby is more impactfull. In this moment Abby is more in the right than Ellie. Abby spares Ellie’s live and Ellie has everything that she could ever dream for, but she just can’t let go of the hate. The dissapointment and sadness in Dina’s face when Ellie leaves is that same as ours. Dina and we don’t want to see Ellie leave and lose this life that she managed to get after all the loss that she has suffered. Ellie’s choice to go back after Abby is not supposed to make sense, it is something instinctual, no logic or reason can convince her to stop her crusade. The final fight between Ellie and Abby, after Ellie cuta her down the pole is very emotional. Seeing Abby caring for Lev as Joel cared for her humanizes Abby in Ellie’s eyes. Before the fight she thinks about letting them go, but her need to fight her, to have some kind of resolution is greater. Only when she is about to win and to accomplish everything she wanted, she realises that it was not worth it and that the Joel from Jackson, the calm parental figure that took her to museum on her birthday and that played gee-tar on the porch of his house would be okay with letting go of the hate. The final discussion between Ellie and Joel, in hindsight, gave Ellie some kind of relief, I believe she was able to forgive Joel for his actions because she saw what Abby and herself were capable of doing for the people that they loved, so now she understood his actions better. The empty house and Dina taking JJ and leaving is the price she has to pay for this lesson, although in my headcannon they worked things out and got back together. In conclusion, The Last of Us Part II is a difficult, brutal game, that is not afraid to make bold decision that may not please some fans. It is not the safe story that they could have told. It is not a perfect game, some people will hate it. The pacing of the game can be a little jarring, but i believe that it was necessary to simpatize and to humanize Abby, which was always to goal of the game, to create a character that appears evil and unredeemable, and show that from a different perspective heroes appear villains and villains appear heroes. As a game and as a piece of art this game made me feel emotions that i didn’t expect a game to be capable to convey, for this reason and for the gameplay, sound, visuals this game is 10/10 in my book. Story that happened after Ellie has settled down with Dina it all got ruined for me, don’t really understand the concept. Sacrificing good life for total revenge and giving up at the very end so I felt like Ellie didn’t gain anything at all.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I finished the Last of us part 2 twice and it is a great game. The first however is still better story wise and in Part 2 they take the combat from the first game and update it and make it more realistic, gruesome and better. The reason why this game is not a 10 out of 10 in my opinion is the story, I have no problem with joel dying but the way he goes out just doesn't feel right. Joel is killed way too early in the game and then we have to play as his killer Abby for the second half of the game. I'm not going to lie though by the end I started to like abby and her gameplay is so fun and feels just like a horror movie, it's just that no matter what I'm not going to feel sorry for Abby which the game tries to do to you multiple times. I did enjoy Ellie's part of the game and her choice for vengeance. Overall I still think the last of us part 2 is a great game and dont understand why it is getting so much hate. Expand

When I first started playing this game, I was loving it. Everything about it was better than the first game. Then something happens in the story and this part makes me like the game a little bit less. We are then put into a compelling with Ellie. We play as her for about 10 hours until we reach the climax. The game takes a turn and makes us play as a different character for 10 hours. ThisWhen I first started playing this game, I was loving it. Everything about it was better than the first game. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game was nothing short of fantastic

The people who are upset i would say it is somewhat justified and i can understand, however this game really does not deserve the hate it gets in my opinion. Many people seem to be upset about Joel's death. I was too. He dies very early on and I feel he deserved better. However Joel was a bad man, who did many bad things in the first game alone, let alone what took place in the 20 years between the prologue and the main game itself. To put it bluntly, he kinda had it coming.

The graphics were amazing. Even on the base PS4 i was stunned at how good it looked. Nothing much more to say about that.

With the story, It felt very strange to play as Ellie for so long and then suddenly go back to the start of Seattle from Abby's POV. Not saying i didn't enjoy it or anything, I very much enjoyed seeing the events from her point of view and learning more about her. Also, she's jacked to all hell and that's a plus in my book.

Ellie and Dina's relationship is good. It is not **** lesbianism. They feel like a real couple who care deeply for each other

I cannot speak for trans people, however imo it seems they handled the trans character very well. It is very clear they are a real person with hopes and dreams and not an empty plot point. The only time he is deadnamed is a couple times by enemies that usually die very shortly after, and i think once by his mother. He is never deadnamed by any one of the main characters and everyone is completely fine with it, that being said however, he suffers-

Everyone suffers, this game is not at all happy at all. There are not many laughs to be had, this game is sad as **** The enemies have names and that includes dogs, and people care when their friend dies. No game has come close to making me cry as many times as i did while playing this. I finished it about a week ago and i still feel depressed from the game, if you don't like the idea of being sad all the time i would not recommend getting it, atleast not yet

The gameplay was unreal, the movement felt fluid yet clumsy and realistic, and combat is unrivaled. Without auto aim turned on i felt very anxious when trying to get shots off but every time an enemy rounded the corner and I immediately aimed and popped them in the head i can't accurately describe how odd it felt. Reminds me of a part in TLOU 1 when Ellie saves Joel and says "Damn I shot the hell outta that guy huh?"

Would and will play again after i mentally recover lmao. It honestly amazes me that a video game could make me feel the way this one did and i don't think another game will even come close. The only reason i'm not giving it a 10/10 is because nothing is ever perfect. This game is fantastic, it has flaws, and i hated that Joel died after 3 mins of screen time and i don't think even the flashbacks can redeem that. But this game is far better than most people are making it out to be. Game of the Year in my opinion

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

The gameplay is fantastic, and the story was extremely immersive. The ending and game as a whole had me on an emotional rollercoaster for a week, and I absolutely love it. The game is meant to get you angry at Abby but then show the other side of the story. Joel was a good person; who has done awful things. Joel's death was justified as he killed Abby's father and so many more innocent people. The only complaint I have is how Naughty Dog advertised the game as something it wasn't, which is a Joel & Ellie adventure. I think this game is fantastic and an extremely emotional experience for those who enjoyed the first game. Expand

THE LAST OF US PART II immersed me in particular way that no other game has done before. TLOU2 is a narrative that only can exist as a video game, is a survival horror in which graphics, sound, music, enemies and a bunch of other extremely detailed elements collided in an adventure that placed me under the skin of the controllable characters, and in a lot of moments I felt their emotions and senses as if their ware mine. Yes, the game can be a little cliche in a lot of moments and it does have a few writing issues (that are not that bad as people say), but I love the way the game made me participant in such a conflicting story that range between love, hate and all the other emotions that radiate from those two. The game really made me think about the importance of our actions as humans and how those actions determine our place in this world. Man, there is so much more I can write about, but I prefer people to experience it for themselves

A 10/10 does not mean is a perfect game, there are no perfect games and there will never be, in this case I just think the game is an outstanding piece of media, but find a little silly to abstract a complete experience in just a simple number.

Even tho this game was a wonderful experience for me, I completely understand how a lot of people can have mixed or negative opinions, to those people (and to the ones that watched it in a walkthrough video -nothing wrong with that-) I ask, please give a second opportunity to this game, not now but in the future and hopefully with a different perspective, maybe you will love it or maybe you will still hate it, but if you don't try... you will never know.

And sorry if I made a spelling or grammatical error, english is not my first language.

One of the most awe inspiring games I've had the pleasure of playing. Solid gameplay and a story that puts players through a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Graphically stunning. This game is a work of art and takes full advantage of what the ps4 can do. Don't let the internet trolls fool you. The review bombing is nothing but petty hateful trash. This game is worth every penny spent.

The main issue for me is the structure of the story, I liked the different perspectives as you played through both characters, however the game did feel drawn out and you are forced to like Abby when in reality both sides are in the wrong. As someone who is in the LGBT community, I don’t believe the poor reviews are related to that at all or female characters, it is more the story structures and lack of choices you are given. Gameplay and some of the ideas are excellent, graphics and setting are incredibly beautiful in a dystopian way. Just a shame that it feels like the moral of the story overrides what the players wanted which is a satisfying and rewarding game over a “lesson”

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
