A lot of people have a problem with how the story uses post-modern structures, but to me it made me enjoy the game more. Jumping through time as two characters really nails home the emotions that our protagonists go through throughout the story. Without saying too much, the story is heart stopping and the gameplay is jaw dropping. From fear and sadness, to happiness or excitement; every emotion comes to play in the epic tale of revenge and sympathy. Haters of the game failed to understand the games dual narrative structure which was used to juxtapose two strong opposing characters to help the audience realize that the two aren't so different after all.… Expand

    At face value, the story is pretty bad. But there's some incredibly human, and nuances moments and motivation which the characters have, and this game is not to be judged the moment the credits roll.

    Die hard fans of TLOU, I can understand why people are furious about TLOU2, but it's not that bad.

    I would say the screenplay is good but not the best route. It does create unprecedented tensions between characters, but there are many other ways to write a good story. I would say it's a lazy choice. However the execution was great, gameplay was great, and if I were not a fan for TLOU1,    Die hard fans of TLOU, I can understand why people are furious about TLOU2, but it's not that bad.

    Although I don't like Abby, the Abby line is quite good, especially the part with Lev. I can feel that it somehow emulates the relationship between Joel and Ellie in TLOU1, but it's simply not as good.

    The game is short, but with the story decision it's long enough. I honestly think Naughty Dog did try to maximize the tension inside the game, but sometimes darkness and conflicts are not the only thing we expect from game like TLOU2.    … Expand

    Creo que se mantuvo la esencia y cuidaron los detalles para los fans de Tlou 1 me gustó como se desarrolla la historia y como termina las gráficas son de otro mundo, en ocasiones puede ser repetitivo la forma de juego sin embargo las posibilidades de hacer cosas nuevas dentro de él dependen de ti y cuanto te quieras arriesgar

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don't agree with the negative reviews here saying that playing as Abby ruined the story. To me, it offered such a unique experience. I really empathized with Abby. This created an inner conflict: I should be rooting for Ellie, the girl I stuck with through thick and thin, but Abby was kind of right killing Joel. I also saw a lot of similarities between the two. This made it so hard for me to pick a side. At the end of the game I really didn't want to kill Abby. I felt like Ellie was the malefactor in this scenario. So I was really satisfied when she let her go. The death of this character would have been too much injustice. The Last of Us: Part 2 is more than a story of survival. It's about unjust punishment that an apocalypse inextricably entails. In this respect, Part 2 is more complex than Part 1. This game isn't about wreckless killing and taking revenge. The reviewers here who rate the game badly fail to see this.… Expand

    This is without a doubt the best storytelling video game ever produced. Fantastic writing NaughtyDog. The sequence of the plot was superb where several times, I would put down my controller, palms sweating and anxious to move forward but knowing I must as the nuanced writing we so true to each character I had to, was compelled to see it through.     Abby is a good character and honestly I don't get why people would criticize the game for how Joel died. He gave up his name because 1) he got a little soft during the years in safety, 2) Tommy already said their names to Abby and used his real name to introduce himself to the group, and 3) it's his gosh dang first name, how was he to expect he would be killed for revealing that his name was Joel (which a million other people are named, I'm sure).
    I loved the game! Both of the Abby/Ellie fights were great and very hard to get through because I just wanted them to stop. It's something that I think is super awesome they managed to do with a video game.
    I lowkey thought Abby's section was better than Ellie's (just a bit). I can understand why people don't like that it isn't much related to Ellie's half. But I think it is related to the theme, the game is making you play instead of telling you what to think or feel about a character. You're taken on a ride with Abby and Lev that reminded me of the Joel and Ellie dynamic but in a unique and interesting way. As soon as Abby makes the choice to betray her people for the ones she cares about and gain her humanity back, we are asked to undergo a similar change. We are forced to ask ourselves, "Am I willing to forgive her?". If the answer is yes, then it becomes all the more painful to see the death and destruction Ellie caused from Abby's point of view. Just as soon as she was redeemed, Abby had to lose all over again. And when these two collide, they know nothing about each other and we know everything, we understand both sides. This is what made the fighting, from then on, so frustrating and so engaging.    … Expand

    It’s a beautiful game with a fantastic story told from 2 different perspectives. If you’re willing to invest and immerse yourself in the story and do not actively refuse it because of some childish resentment, you’ll definitely love this game.

Y para mí que lo le no le gustó a la gente es la muerte de Joel y si bien no me esperaba que él muriera, pero cómo sabemos...     Had to make an account, because I’ve never seen as many p******s complain about a game in my life. Honestly feel like the majority of those that have left a bad review do it just to **** on the game for no reason. It was a great game. Evokes emotion. Graphics were **** fantastic. Ambience and tone made me not want to enter rooms at times. Yeah, it’s ****ty the way things started, but oh well.

    I think it was beautiful. They made you do things you didn't want to and feel things you didn't want to, you were uncomfortable much like you are in life a lot of times but it was perfect. They had to align the sequences the way they did to make you feel like you did. From anger to confusion to empathy to a sense of relief, hope and forgiveness. It was just perfect.

    I’m very disappointed... not with the gameplay not the graphics nor the amazing characters in the game (expect abby) I’m disappointed because of the weak story telling and the unnecessary twist. Thanks Neil Druckmann for ruining this amazing game for all of us!

    It is absolutely insane that this game would be rated anything less than a 10 out of 10. The gameplay, storytelling, intersection between the two... it’s a masterpiece. The graphics and settings are beautiful as well. I just can’t put into words how big a leap this game took for video games. I just finished the game and I am just sitting here awestruck. I wish so badly there were more.It is absolutely insane that this game would be rated anything less than a 10 out of 10. Story-wise, I have never played a game that has affected me so deeply. But what this game lets you experience, and what it teaches and tells you through the process of playing, make it one of the most impactful games I’ve ever played.     A beautiful story told through the intricately designed gameplay, which makes your heart pounding loudly. Both sides of the story ring true designed symmetrically and blow away. The hardest thing is to stop submitting to the violence.

Es un juego que toma muchas decisiones arriesgadas , un juego que puede meterte de lleno en su trama, que sientes que encarnas a las protagonistas y logras apegarte a los personajes como si fueras tú el que en realidad está ahí, le aplaudo, no todos los juegos pueden hacer eso. Tiene una trama sólida y muy bien redactada me gusta que hayan tomado tantos riesgos. Hay decisiones con las que no estoy de acuerdo pero si me pongo a pensar, están en una lucha dónde el riesgo a morir es muuy grande y nadie está segundas oportunidades. Joel’s death really does not go with his character’s personality but you could slip that if the rest of the story made sense. The story was ok, until a point in which everything stop making sense.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There's no denying that this game deserves all the plaudits it can get from a technical perspective. Sound design, graphics, animation and the combat is exceptional. For that, the team deserve to be congratulated.

    However, the story is another matter. It's clear that it must have suffered at the hands of the politics at play here. Originally, when others were slamming the gay, female-led story before it had even come out (!), I was up there defending it - stating it didn't matter - that the story is what matters and if the story is good, who cares what a characters persuasion is.

    But that's the problem - it's NOT a good story. It's just - dull. Ellie has turned into a lean, mean killing machine. There's a body count here higher than Hot Shots Part Deux. There's little, other than the killing of Joel, to support just how angry she's become. There's also little choice - particularly in areas where choice should matter. For example, in one of the final confrontations - I didn't WANT to attack Abby. I wanted to let her off - like she did Ellie. However I wasn't allowed to make that choice.

    The writing is also lazy. So much so, they squeezed in as much of the current zeitgeist as they could muster. Again, if it was relevant to the story then sure - go ahead. But it's clear that it's been injected into it to make it relevant.

    It's also way too long. It took me 30 hours to complete it. I was done with it by 16. It's repetitive, way too much in the way of boring cutscenes (the farmhouse family skit towards the end was just too much), and when Ellie sets off again I actually got annoyed.

    I'd actually completed the first part just before the 2nd came out (never had enough time), so for me the first was very, very fresh. The only part of the 2nd game I actually enjoyed the story was Abby's - seeing if from her perspective, how the couples' rampage across the US affected her. That's about it though.

    I'd say borrow it from a friend. Experience it, but don't be surprised if you give up at the 14-16 hour mark. You're in it for the long haul, but sadly those extra hours won't make a damn bit of difference to the story.    … Expand

They game made me continue to love Ellie, and while playing through her three Seattle days I didn't feel remorse for any of the human's that I was killing. Switching to Abby's story, I personally started to realize that all the wolfs I killed they had someone who cared for them. Now the fights between Abby and Ellie. When the first one begun I was like "oh s**t this is not happening!" Then when Abby begun to start stangling Ellie at first I was pushing the button like normal and then I slowly had to stop, because I didn't want Abby to kill Ellie. The same for when Ellie started to drown Abby. I just really wished that Dina and Ellie lived happily ever after on the farm, and the same for Abby and Lev by finding the fireflies.

    It was a beautiful game overall, I especially love the greenery of the forest for Ellie's first Seattle day.    … Expand

It's probably the first game to make me cry as a grown man. Other reviews can't put all the nuance into words.     There were a few pacing issues I found towards the last quarter of the game but these issues didnt last long.     I believe this was a very worth while addition to the original game and believe you should play this with no preconceived notions.     Was a huge fan of number 1, however this game does not live up to the my expectations of the story. I did not see any trailers or marketing, even preordered the game to ensure maximum experience. Even if the plot and story development are intentional I will not play this game again and lent it to all my friends who wants to play so they will not waste money and feel as disappointed as me.

    Jogo para mim está perfeito em tudo, apesar da história não ser a esperada, mas temos que entender que é a visão do diretor, assim como nos filmes. Ao podemos traçar a história como queremos mas sim aceitar negativamente ou positivamente o lado que o diretor imaginou e buscou passar.

    That's the obvious stuff. What everyone came for was an emotional rollercoaster, for which the bar set for the gaming industry in Part I. There has been significant differences of opinion on the direction the studio took the plot, and sadly not all of it polite, but I for one found the story tugged at my emotions just as much if not more than the original. It is darker and more brutal than Part I, with less down time for your emotions to level off, and no game has ever left me as shell shocked upon completion or stayed on my mind for so long. Second time round I found additional moments, and the epilogue may have resonated even more after so long in this world, where I could stay for many more hours.

    There was undoubtedly a 'handbrake turn' halfway through which threw me for a while, and it evidently hasn't worked for everyone, but I found that it was a fresh direction and used the gameplay to tell the story more effectively than a couple of cutscenes would have. We see many characters make decisions which may frustrate the player, but in my opinion worked within the character that had been constructed in the game.

    Some side characters could have used fleshing out more, along with some other aspects of the lore in general, but at circa thirty hours as it is I can understand the balance that Naughty Dog came to.

    Overall, a nigh unbeatable experience that for me has set the bar for the next generation to surpass. The story will not work for all, and I hope that fans can debate in the appropriate manner, but I will take this over a rehashed Part I, predictable trope, or absolute black and white, any day.    … Expand

    The best game I have ever played so far in my life. Especially love the fact that Naughty Dog has made much longer CG movies than part 1. Although Joel's death made me sad, but it is time for Ellie to take the role of savior for the world. There is no reason for us to not like her. Great game!     Keine Ahnung woher die vielen negativen Bewertungen kommen. Ich würde so gut wie lange nicht mehr unterhalten. Das Spiel läuft auf meiner Ps4 slim hervorragend, sieht unglaublich gut aus. Bereue den kauf nicht eine Sekunde.

    Felt good to come back to the Tlou universe. and have this gray dark story line playing out for you, i under stand people may not like the direction the story was headed or the confusing way it was told, but i dont think the game deserves a 0/10.

The ending of the last of us 2 is simply perfect in all its forms manages to involve you in a crazy way to keep everything hidden until the end and then tell you things as they really are. Too bad that people do not understand and do not want to understand what Neil drukmann tried to do and something new in the narrative and who did not understand it is not his fault but just needs time, which then may not like but honestly I think that I am the most beautiful final ever the motivations of the characters who are alive have their own idea and ideologies and if you do not reflect yourself and why you do not live there in that world it is difficult to understand what to do in such a situation but a choice is a choice and no one can know which is the best choice for this it is better to live with it and have no regrets. Eventually ellie forgave Joel and hers was not a journey of vengeance but of forgiveness. In a word, a masterpiece. Sorry for my inglish I am Italian… Expand

    He terminado el juego y simplemente es lo mejor que he jugado en toda mi puta vida. El gran contraste que hace con el primero, la historia cruda y amarga (Tan bien ambientada en ese universo) hace que se haya convertido inmediatamente en un juego legendario. PS4 cierra con su sello realmente hermoso, tal como lo cerró PS3 con el primer The Last Of Us.

    Although got bored at 1 or 2 points of the story, overall the game is great! The game play leaves impression on you so you are expecting similar with other games. It really rises the bar of quality. The amount of detail is really amazing.
    Best closure to the console generation. Cannot wait to play again .

    Great game, very thought provoking. Before you hate on this game, I implore you to play through it yourself and think through why you don’t like it. If you’re angry at the game, you’re proving the game’s lessons correct. Keep your heart and mind open while playing and you’ll have a eye opening story.
