This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Decent gameplay, could have actually been a great game but fell down on the storyline. You can't destroy everything that the first game was and then expect us to care about characters that did it. It's nothing to do with Abby being an unnecessarily buff woman just because or a stupid "love" making seen, also completely unnecessary. It didn't totally suck but it wasn't great either and no, retrospectively making the main character a lesbian does not add depth to her character Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was looking forward to this game like crazy because I believe the first game was one of the best games I have ever played. I intentionally ignored all the drama prior to release because I wanted to give this game a fair shake. I wanted to Love This Game, I really did. However, in its current form, this game however, is HOT GARBAGE. Joel deserved better and it was kind of pathetic watching a Neil Druckmann "lookalike?" inserted into the game. The game does in fact LOOK gorgeous and runs very well, make no mistake, but those are the only good things I have to say about it. You can tell where Anita Sarkeesian's political drivebys were infused into the narrative, The PC / SJW ridden story is horrible, the characters are mostly wooden or stereotypes of "Super Wahmen" or fall victim to the latest "White male leads or major characters are so 1990s, let kill them off" mantra and the dialogue in general, is just atrocious. This game is literally an enduring self-licking ice-cream cone that shoves identity politics down the players throat without a break. There was a 10 or so hour stretch that felt like the worlds biggest side / fetch quest. I had to force myself to finish it simply because I wanted it of the hard drive. This game nether respects the original characters nor does it pay any homage to any of them. Save your money, save your time, and play the first one over again and pretend that that ending is the canonical one. Expand

I decided that it would be better for me to write a review after completing the game entirely and here I am around 25 hours of gameplay. If I had to sum this game up in three words they would be "A massive disappointment". Let me get something straight, there is nothing wrong with having LGBT characters in a game. If I had to sum this game up in three words they would be "A massive disappointment". Let me get something straight, there is nothing wrong with having LGBT characters in a game. In fact we found out of Ellie's sexuality in the DLC for "The Last of Us" that she was gay, which is fine. The first game is my absolute favorite game ever and it breaks my heart seeing that they took this route with the second game. They absolutely destroyed everything they built up in the first game within the first 2 hours of this game. The story is absolutely horrendous it was based on hate and the desire for revenge. After the first 5 hours of gameplay I honestly just did not want to play the game anymore. I had to force myself to play this and it pains me because of my excitement for this game to come out, just to see Niel just burn everything from the first game down to the floor. The reason I am not giving this game a 0 is because of the graphics and game-play. The graphics are gorgeous and the gameplay is ok. I absolutly hated that Naughty Dog forced me to play half of the game as the character that murdered one of my favorite characters in cold blood. The issue here is what made the first game so amazing was the story, that was the important part of both games. The Last of Us has always been about the story. The ending was horrible as well and Neil already said that there are no plans to release a DLC with this game which I see them as saying "there are no plans to fix the story". Like I said earlier in this review, I have nothing against them adding LGBT characters in the game but I really felt like Naughty Dog was trying to shove them down my throat, like if they were trying to push an agenda through this video game, it made me feel like it was less of a video game and more of a political statement which is another reason I think is why most of us gamers dislike the game. Honestly I think this game was a waste of money and a waste of my time. I just really hope that if they do make a third game or a TV show/movie they don't use Abbey as the protagonist, she is the most hated character in the game... that will definitely be the final nail in the coffin for us fanatics of the franchise. The gameplay and the graphics are the best the series has seen, which is why the disappointment of the story is so frustrating. It starts with a compelling premise, but devolves into a disjointed mess jumping around between viewpoints with no clear direction and giving the player little motivation to keep going other than to see how the dumpster fire eventually burns out.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game play is fine, voice acting is fine and it looks fine visually. The previous characters, Joel and Ellie, characters Neil Druckmann said is the heart and soul of the game, are pooped all over and sidelined for very awfully written characters that no one wants to play as. Joel and Ellie are very different than before and make bizarre decisions that are out of character. The story is what you get when you pander, and hire people like Anita Sarkeesian and have an idiot game director such as Druckmann.
If this wasn't a sequel and you didn't know as much Joel and Ellie, i could see it being rated a little higher than it is.
I would give it a 4 max for having fair game play and visuals. But i have to subtract from there. Neil Druckmann, after **** on everything to pander, decided to put himself in the game, twice like a douchy narcissist. One is in the form of an extremely cringy collectible card titled Dr. Uckmann. The card talks about how he was ostracized from the 'scientific community' for pushing human limits. The other is literally a sex scene that was apparently mo capped by him. So that brings my score down to a 2.
Anything that involves Anita Sarkeesian is going to be a point lost and what they decided to do to the characters, ill combine that.
So that brings it down to a 1.
Except all of the 10/10 ratings that people know are paid off that are running rampant is going to bring it down to a solid zero. Seriously watch any gaming stream and judge peoples reaction when they play the game. It's garbage and any fan of the original last of us knows this.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Great graphics. The only good thing I can say about this game.

Very repetitive gameplay: Too few enemies, too much looting, some parts are boring and very slow paced.

Poorly structured campaign: When you're getting to the best part with Ellie, you have to play as Abby for 10 hours. It absolutely breaks the climax.

Bad character development: People in this game just feel not real and they have no depth. All the new characters are just forgettable.

Story is simply terrible: Lots of plot holes, weird character behavior, specially at the end. Just not what fans expected of this sequel.

I will never understand the cheap death of Joel, why Abby wants to be Yara and Lev's best friend, why Ellie spares Abby in the end, etcetera.

It's a pity that this game could've been so much more. They tried to make a surprising story, and it is. For the worse.

6/10 for the graphics and some good parts (mainly hospital zone and Rat King).

The plot is different than the first game, while the story could have been told better by swapping the timing of some chapters, it is quite great. Few games, maybe none before this one, have made me feel the emotions I felt today as I finish it. It's a story as much about forgiveness as it is about revenge. I can see why it is controversial, for some they perhaps have never been in a situation where you had to either forgive or allow bad things to keep happening. Sometimes it's not about justice but about moving on with your life. The graphics were a bit off on some of the first levels, even got a bug after using photo mode, but the later part of the game was beautiful and the gameplay and mechanics were simply amazing. I started the game without any knowledge of the leaks, yet from the moment I started playing Abby, I knew that she was the one who was going to kill Joel. With this feeling bugging me, I admit that I let her die more than a couple of times during her initial gameplay, and even more when we play her in Seattle. Hell, I thought there would even be an option to lose to Ellie in the theatre so I let Abby die in every scene just in case!

But after seeing her relationship with Lev develop after the theatre incident, their dynamic reminded me of Joel and Ellie. I still felt disdain for Abby, but I admit that she grew on me and that I enjoyed playing her character. ND made one of the boldest choices a game could, and man, it really paid off. But it’s not the only powerful choice of the game.

The last battle between Abby and Ellie was brutal, and while I had an easier time beating Abby up as Ellie than I had beating Ellie up as Abby, deep down I didn’t really want to kill her, especially after that flashback of Joel on the porch. It’s just insane to me that ND was able to elicit Ellie’s exact emotions in ME! The ending of letting Abby go was at first bitter - I felt salty that she had a better ending than Ellie. I felt heavy after playing the game, and had a harder time falling asleep. I thought about how there are things/emotions that I could still be holding onto that have the same destructive force as Abby’s and Ellie’s revenge, only internal instead of external. I thought about how our choices propagate to places we never expect them to. I thought about the freedom beyond being controlled by those regrets, and grief, and what it takes to achieve that freedom. I thought about how Joel’s choice to save Ellie was so so human, as was Ellie’s choice to spare Abby. The visual in my head of the former event was of the Chinese principle of Yang (the light with the darkness in it). Ellie’s arc reminded me of yin (the dark with the lightness in it). In a way, TLOU2 ended on a more hopeful note than the original one.

But after a night of reflection, that heaviness still wouldn’t go away. Maybe it’s something about myself I have to explore more. But I was really attached to Ellie, and wanted her to have her happy ending.

So I did my research, and I found that the writers were originally going to have Ellie pick Ollie up before she leaves, but felt that was too obvious.

And then I saw a theory about how Ellie had already visited Jackson and repaired her relationship with Dina. What supported it was Ellie’s change of clothes, the absence of her weapons, Dina’s bracelet on her arm (which wasn’t there when she left for Santa Barbara, and wasn’t in her backpack like Joel’s watch was).

Then I thought how cruel ND was for not making the happy ending more obvious! But I realized that my initial feelings toward the ending made TLOU2 more than a game for me. It made me look really deep down, and at least realize I have those dark sides too. It made me see how hard it was to deal with grief, and how that grief compels us to turn into people we don’t know. I believe TLOU2 was better than the first one for these reasons alone. The gameplay and the graphics just made this game more of a masterpiece. This game is a mirror to the player’s thought processes - it precisely elicits all of the feelings it sets out to, and the player is left to consolidate the intense emotions. If the player is able to do that, they see the depth of this game, if not, I think I understand where the hate comes from. But the beauty is not in if the player does so or not. It’s in how the player consolidates the emotions elicited. That how, gives the player a location of where they’re at in their emotional world. To me, that knowledge gave me what I was missing in my path to healing.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I finished the game on 20/06/ 2020 and even today I can't stop thinking about it and the feelings and reflections that this game gave me. This game made me feel things I had never felt before. This game made me get into an internal conflict with myself, I didn't know what to feel anymore. The Last Of Us Part II gives you an inexplicable and very personal feeling that you can only feel when playing it. The story of this game is very well written! People who didn't like the game, probably didn't play it or understood the story in a completely wrong way. I've been a fan of The Last Of Us since 2013 and played both games at launch, and my favorite character was Joel, without a doubt. When he died, I felt emptiness inside me, I felt worse than Ellie, I was filled with hatred and all I wanted to do was kill everyone responsible for it. When we go on our journey of revenge with Ellie, it is gradually noticeable that she is losing humanity and her essence. "If I ever were to lose you, I'd probably lose myself." and that’s what happened to Ellie and us players. Ellie was completely lost after losing Joel. She was filled with hatred and continued an endless cycle of hatred and revenge. Abby lost the person she loved most in the world, her father. She had that pain inside her, and she only thought about it every day, because she had lost everything and she thought that the only thing that would bring her peace would be to kill Joel, to avenge her father. However, when she killed him, nothing changed. Abby continued to have her nightmares and kept thinking about her father's death every day, in addition to carrying a huge guilt for killing Joel. Abby lost her humanity and essence at that moment when she killed Joel. She didn't regret killing Joel, but she realized that none of it was worth it. Ellie is a mirror of Abby, because the two were lost because of the death of the person they loved most in the world. The two were feeding on hatred and losing their humanity, because of revenge. A quote that can define this whole situation, is "Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves" (Confucius), and one of these graves is for you, because you will get lost in the middle of the process of revenge, you will become someone else. Abby's journey is a journey of redemption, which is why she felt so compelled to help Yara and Lev. In that moment we can see how similar Abby is to Joel, because Joel lost his humanity after losing Sarah, he became a totally different person, he became cruel and sadistic, he was not a good person like before, and that is exactly what happened to Abby. Joel found love and his humanity again, when he met Ellie. Abby found love and her humanity again, when she met Lev. Ellie and Lev were like little lights of hope in the darkness of Joel and Abby. Abby managed to find her peace and redemption in Lev. You realize that when Abby was going to kill Dina, but she looks at Lev and decides to stop, because she knows that revenge never brought anything good to her life, and now she had one reason to live and move on: Lev. However, although Ellie lived a happy life on the farm with Dina, she did not eat, was sick and continued to have her panic attacks and nightmares, she would only find peace in herself. So she decides to go after Abby to find that peace. Abby refuses to fight Ellie because she was already destroyed inside because of revenge and had already realized that it was never and will never be worth it. She lost the love of her life and all of her close friends, she lost EVERYTHING. When Ellie was about to kill Abby, she has a memory of Joel and decides to stop. This memory of Joel was a good memory, he was happy and alive. In the last times that Ellie remembered him, she just remembered him dead and suffering. That memory was like "Stop, baby girl. It won't change anything and it will only destroy you", because when Ellie killed Abby, she would completely lose her humanity and her essence, and she would stop being the person Joel loved and cared for. I personally felt at that moment, that that "Ellie" was not the Ellie that we knew, it was not the Ellie that Joel knew and loved. She also saw what Abby felt for Lev, it was what Joel felt for Ellie. She let the love she felt for Joel, overcome the hatred she felt for Abby and it completely broke the cycle of hatred. Naughty Dog was very brave in producing this game and I really admire them for it. The interesting thing is that Ellie's memory of Joel at that moment, was their last conversation, their last words. Hate destroys many things, but a small fraction of love and forgiveness fixes everything. There are no heroes or villains in this story, only humans. It is a pity that many people failed to understand the message of the game... I'm sorry for the people who couldn't feel the experience and emotions that this game provided for us. I hope people have more love and maturity and don't spread unnecessary hate messages. MASTERPIECE Expand

Unfortunately I can not sing the same praises to the story. Simply put, it just didn't work for me. in a vacuum the story and themes are competent but as a long awaited sequel to one of the greatest games ever made (in my humble opinion) this is easily the single most disappointing game i've ever played. Even without the context of the original, the game's over reliance on flashbacks destroys the pacing with brief 30 minute interruptions at best and at worst, forcing the player to trek through 10 hours of gameplay before resolving a cliffhanger. Naughty Dog took a risk with this game which I respect but don't necessarily agree with. In all, while the game is undeniably a technical masterpiece, the story just feels inconsistent with the characters and themes of the first. Expand

    I absolutely loved this game!
It's definitely not for everyone but if you play this game with an open mind and are ready to experience an emotional challenging, complex story, then you will probably like this game just as much as I did.

I understand that some people might not like the story but what probably everyone can agree on, is the fact that the visuals are absolutely stunning and that the gameplay has significantly improved, was a lot more fun and felt more organic than in the first game. The music perfectly matches the different game scenarios and the different locations in the game are quite unique and interesting.

Does the game have issues? Yes! It does have a few problems with pacing. Personally, I felt that some segments were simply too long but overall that only helped me to see things from the characters' perspective, to empathize with them and to understand their actions.

Now to the plot (I tried not to include any spoilers, so this may sound a bit vague): I did not know in which direction the game/ the story would go and all of the turns came very unexpected which I really appreciated. I can honestly say that a game has never made me feel so many different emotions and made me reflect on so many different topics before. After finishing this game in two days I was emotionally exhausted and did not know what I was supposed to feel. During the next few days I simply kept thinking about the story and the actions of the individual characters. I kept analyzing different scenes in the game and the characters' motivations. I am still discovering new things about this story nearly a week after playing it and I find myself more and more in love with this game.

Is this story a heart-warming adventure with a lot of sweet and peaceful moments? No!

Is it the game that we fans wanted as a sequel? For most people probably also no.

Will this game take you on an unforgettable, emotional roller coaster and give you a gaming experience that you have never encountered before? In my opinion definitely YES!

A word of advice: If you think about buying this game and you have seen spoilers or read reviews that completely hate on it, please don't just give up on the game. Many people who hate on this game haven't even played it and have only read the leaks. Please don't listen to them! You have to play this game for yourself to really experience everything the way you are supposed to. Even if you watch a video you won't be as invested as when you are truly playing it for yourself.

I say this because I had one of the weirdest and most conflicting gaming experiences in tlou 2 and after the game I felt like I went through the same character development and felt the same emotional ambivalence as Ellie.

So, if you have no problem with a serious story that includes some dark topics and if you are willing to put yourself in someone else's shoes, then I can only recommend "The last of us part 2".

This game looks....okay? The scenery looks good, but the characters models look kinda derpy. You can especially see it when you look at Ellie's eyes look really derpy compared to the first game. The combat system is fine. I don't really have any complaints about it, it can be a bit clunky at certain moments though.
The story...oh no the story. I can't even begin to explain how ABYSMAL & DISASTROUS the story is without spoiling it, yes it's that bad, trust me! All I can say that stuff happens for no reason, Ellie & Joel's personalities are completely swapped & the lessons they've learned/character developments in the first game are completely thrown out the window (you'll see why when you play it), & the ending was just...I can't explain in any other words other than bad, It's just bad. The story is the true reason why my rating is a 0.

In conclusion, I cannot recommend this game to fans who played the first game nor to anyone that likes good storytelling. It's not worth $60, please don't waste your money on this. Get Cyberpunk 2077 instead!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Last of Us 2 is a Double edge Game on the one hand I loved returning to this world, the character and the game play. But on the other the story has character development, pacing and story problems that take you out of the game leaving you empty. TLoU Introduced a new kind of Zombie game with interesting enemies. NOT JUST fighting Zombie but the other humans struggling to survive. The first game to a broken man that cared about nothing in the whole world, introduces him to a young girl that sheltered optimistic and hopeful, even being born into this desolate situation. Through a story of challenges struggle, survival, these two characters grow and change to become like father and daughter. Till ultimately Joel will give up the world for Ellie. The last of us 2 improves so much Graphics are perfection and I had 0 glitches or problems. Game play was a return of survival and fighting with both Ellie & Abby feeling different. The addition to jump, dodge and go prone were all quality changes. The problem is the story and not that it isn't explained it is but it is poorly done. The game us rushed and feels to long at the same time. Jumping back and forth from Abby to Ellie and flashbacks is all to much. Ellie does not grow in any way and accomplishes nothing. Abby changes so suddenly that it is impossible to care. The game just drags and then comes to a compete stop when Dinna and Ellie are back around Jackson in a almost dreamlike Existence with their child JJ. Which she leaves for teally no reason. Then suprise fireflies are still out there somewhere, Ravages or something another group no explanation or development. In conclusion there is little to care about by the end. Most of the characters are dead, what is left are traumatized, beaten and broken, and even left hating each other. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is a mess from the very beginning. The way that Joel was killed was completely out of character and a spit in the face to anyone that completed the first game. I had a feeling going into this game that Joel would die, but it’s how he went out that is a sorry excuse for shock value. And the worst part is that this isn’t even the reason why most people including myself are upset. We all waited 7 years to play Ellie’s story only for it to be interrupted by a 10 hour sequence that disengages you from the plot in hopes of changing your already despicable view of the game’s worst character. Instead of embracing Abby’s point of view, I found myself cheering at any misfortune that came her way. The game tries so hard to make the player empathize with Abby and feel compassion for her but completely fails. Even by forcing you to save the life of two children, play fetch with dogs, and watch her lose all of her friends, I still wanted nothing more than for Abby to die at the end of the game. Which brings me to my final point... I almost could’ve forgiven every other mistake or missed opportunity in this absolute dump truck of a story. But when the ending finally arrives after 30 hours of a dragging narrative, Ellie’s choice to let Abby go ruins any last chance this game had. It left me feeling unsatisfied and wishing I had never even played it. Gameplay and graphics alone have never been able to carry a linear narrative game like this before and this is no exception. People don’t buy PlayStation exclusives looking for the best looking or feeling game ever. People buy PlayStation exclusives because they have always told an incredible story and given us characters that we feel a connection to. The Last of Us Part II not only didn’t do that, but actually diminished a little bit of that great reputation. I highly recommend people to not purchase this game as I think they will find it a journey of disappointment and dissatisfaction. Expand

I understand the motives of Abby, but I still don't like her as much as I like Ellie. I didn't like the fact that I had to play so mucho time with Abby.

To be honest, I really want to know or if possible that Ellie and Dina are back together, because we know that Abby and Lev have a "happy ending" joining the fireflies but what about Ellie? She deserve a happy ending, she starts to heal and she can earn Dina's trust again.

Graphics, gun play and levels are really great in this one. The attention to detail is really high, immersing you even more in the story. The story is very central to this game and its portioned out in a good way through out the game.

So to the bad parts. The game is to long, a shorter version would have been more efficient. The actual gameplay also gets quite repetitive even if they do mix it up with some variations in enemies, you use the same tactics to take them all out. Variation in gameplay is mainly "cosmetic", different looking enemies and new environments. A few new gun here and there, but it is still very focused on sneaking. The sneaking mechanic is good, but to build such a long game around it ends up hurting the game a bit.
I feelt that the gun-selection was a bit clunky as well, did not quite like that.
There are also a fair couple of flashbacks and scenes that add nothing/little to the story and are just quite dull to sit through.
The story could have evolved better, the game is split in 2 sections - first as Ellie for 3 days, then your reset back 3 days and plays as Abby (about 50/50 split playing both characters). Your left in kind of a cliff-hanger from Ellie, which made me feel like I just wanted to "catch up" to the third day to see what happens. I think it would have made more sense to play perhaps one day as Abby, next as Ellie and so on to mix it up and keep the story a bit more interesting.

But even with the flaws, the game is still a great game. Its not a "one of a kind masterpiece" - but it is good.

Invokes a sense dread not felt in the medium before. A master piece in it's own right.

Intense and challenging gameplay. The encounters balance stealth and brutal combat in an awesome way. The story is wavers a bit but has dark, dreadful second half that I won't be forgetting anytime soon.

Expand

The game is great. Definitely not worse than the 1st one. Anyone saying otherwise is just here for trolling. Sure the gameplay is a bit repetitive, but then so is the 1st game and let's face it, the story of the first one is nothing special either, it's a long journey which in the end turns out to be for nothing. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I more than loved this game. The first was, for me, the best PS3 game and the second that of the PS4.

Before talking about the story, it's worth talking about the graphics, the gameplay ...
This game is very immersive, killing an enemy and hearing his companions yelling his name makes it very real, the moments of "hide and seek" where discretion is a real advantage in front of his enemy. I found it all very logical and real again. Depending on your level of difficulty, the adventure takes on a different meaning. I played as a survivor and it was very complex!

The story is full of incredible subtlety and detail. I was lucky not to have been spoiled, Joël's death was very hard because I did not expect it at all. I must admit that I was crying at that time, the actors did an incredible job.

It was at this precise moment when I felt a pain comparable to that of Ellie and a desire for revenge to be satisfied. Throughout history, Ellie maintains a notebook that can help us better understand how she feels, which is very useful.
Her relationship with Dina is sweet and authentic, I really appreciated it. Much less appreciated than seeing Ellie sink into darkness, as with Nora's torture. For me, from the time Joel died, Ellie died inside too. PTSD. Killing a pregnant woman was the last hammer blow, driving it into darkness.

And here is the big moment: Abby finds Ellie. And something I didn't expect either, we end up playing Abby. I was disgusted, I didn't want to play this character who had killed one of the characters who had touched me the most in any work. And yet, getting to know it, understanding its feeling of revenge humanizes it and we are "forced" to appreciate it a minimum.
We are all someone's bad guy depending on where we stand.
I can't say I loved this character, let's say more than I accepted her. I found a form of symbolism between her and Lev, like a feeling of seeing the beginnings of the relationship between Joel and Ellie.

Then here is the big moment, the confrontation between Ellie and Abby but from Abby's point of view. Big shock for me, I expected to be Ellie for this fight which pushed me to do things which I did not want. I had never felt a feeling comparable to this during a game, literally I refused to do that! The fight ends, Abby spares Ellie thanks to Lev.

And finally a moment of peace and sweetness, Ellie marrying Dina's dream of having a farm and living away from all her problems. Except that the shadow of the PTSD still hangs over Ellie and Tommy did not help her having lost everything and now became thirsty for revenge.
I was against this decision, to see her leave her family, wife, child and her existing happiness for a quest for revenge. I was against but ... What if it was my father who had been tortured? I don't know what I would have done.

So here we are in Santa Barbara. Abby and Lev kidnapped by slavers and Ellie on his tracks.
Ellie finds herself in a calamitous state in this last quest for revenge, open deep in the belly, emaciated ... She even wonders about her death, perhaps imminent. Thanks again to the notebook.

The beach, Abby unrecognizable ... Ellie blinded by his revenge demands a last fight.
I also didn't want to fight, feeling pity for Abby and finally for Ellie. And it is there, in a last moment of rage that Ellie sees her last moment with Joel. It all makes sense and Ellie releases Abby and lets her go with Lev. Killing Abby would have destroyed Ellie even more, or at least the little humanity she has left.

This quest for revenge will have lost everything Ellie had. Dina and JJ left the farm and Ellie lost two fingers, she can no longer play the guitar. The guitar representing his link with Joël. A last flashback, a sublime moment that moved me to tears. She was going to forgive him, she had started to forgive him. But in an apocalyptic world (or not ...) death is everywhere and nobody is safe. Popular video game character or not.

The end is sad, I had a hard time getting over it. As if emptied by this adventure. Again, I didn't expect such a sad ending for Ellie. She who was so afraid of being abandoned alone, it is her actions that will make her be.

What an incredible game, everything is sublime and well constructed. This story is a wonderful experience.
I have never felt emotions comparable to those that I felt during these 28 hours of play.
The details add so much depth to the story.

For me, as for its predecessor: it is a masterpiece.

I hope to be able to play a third game one day, bringing a conclusion to this license.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m not bashing the idea of killing off Joel, it was a good idea and a different theme from the first game. But they executed that idea very poorly and literally killed off the main character of the first game like he was nothing. How he died was a huge mistake and so was when. Everyone in the game, including ellie, felt like such a dreary and boring character. They killed everyone off as if they didn’t even matter so by the end of the game I was still wondering who Manny was. It felt so dull when Abby shot Jesse like he wasn’t the baby daddy of Dinas kid. What the hell Neil druckmann. It’s not even that it’s a bad game, overall the graphics are pretty good though there are a few glitches, it still irks me just how **** the storyline ended up being. 7 years of waiting for a hot pile of garbage. Though the game overall is nowhere near a 0, it definitely doesn’t deserve a 10/10. I’d give it a 6 for being such an average game. If you’re a fan of the last of us part 1, then the second game really shows just how bad the writers did on the second game compared. I almost wish they left it with the first one. Expand

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
