The user score for this is absolute nonsense, it was bombed by idiots that hadn’t played it hours after release or by people that felt a certain character had a “disrespectful” death. the gameplay is a big step up from the first. movement and combat is quicker and more fluid, there is a larger variety of weapons and crafting options, and there are a variety of ways to approach any combat situation. all enemies are smarter this time around, and the infected are scarier than ever. the environment of every chapter is much more varied, each accompanied with a fitting soundtrack and atmosphere to match. areas are generally larger than the first game which is good; but can be overwhelming if you’re a completionist who likes to scour every nook and cranny for supplies or collectibles. don’t miss out. this game is an essential experience for any gamer, especially those who fell in love with the world and with joel and ellie in TLOU1.

Phenomenal. Tells an admittedly divisive story, but if you go into it with an open mind there is a better chance you will enjoy it. It is not at all like the first game, it's much darker, more violent, less cheerful. A very devastating story. Gameplay and graphics are top notch and extremely enjoyable, especially on harder difficulties. I loved it.

But, in terms of showcasing the extent of what art can do to a person, I honestly believe this game to be the pinnacle of it. It's divisive because it will force you to feel. A lot of people don't want to be forced to have an emotional reaction to something. That being said, I don't rate this game a 10 out of 10 because of the feelings it gave me, I rate it a 10 out of 10 due to its ability to give them to me to begin with. No piece of media has ever made me cry with joy, made me sick to my stomach, made me feel love or hatred the way this game has. I was able to go into this game blind, and it was the most profoundly impactful experience I've ever had ingesting a piece of content, of any medium. Please, don't let it be spoiled for you. People are upset about this game because it WILL upset you. They're angry at the game because it WILL make you angry. But the purpose of this game is to reflect on the way that a person processes these feelings. If that isn't of interest to you, by all means, go and play anything else. This game requires bravery to face having to work through these feelings, but doing so is unbelievably rewarding. You're free to hate what you want, but this is a piece of work that many people have bled for, and it is deserving of your time. It isn't deserving of watching a YouTube run through, it isn't deserving of reading a synopsis on Wikipedia. If you can play this game, you really should, because bravery in this industry needs to be commended and, wow, The Last of Us Part II is brave; and incredible, and fun, and beautiful. It's everything that makes a great game, and it's backed by the most profoundly told story I've ever seen in Western media. This game deserves your time and your money. Expand

Listen to the critics on this one. The game has a couple of flaws but those don't keep it from being an incredible experience. Some things in this game will disappoint you, that doesn't mean it is a disappointing game. There are moments where YOU, the player, will have to commit acts of violence that you REALLY do not want to carry out but the game MAKES you do it. They could have made these into cut scenes, but they didn't. The game intentionally makes you do it. Which will make you feel bad. Certainly doesn't mean the game itself is bad! That would be like saying the movie Schindler's List is bad because it made people sad and angry.

I actually played it. It's really good. And it's quite the heart breaker.

TLOU Part II and and "Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice" are a good sign, that the industry is FINALLY moving towards more mature and complex themes (no, not just revenge) about broken characters in a broken world.

There will always be games that are... easy on the mind with a clear antagonist and where the player gets to be a force of good and I enjoy these games very much too. But I'm very fond of what Naughty Dog has done here and I hope they will continue to craft such compelling narratives and don't get discouraged by some very loud and vocal haters, who are hung up on their favorite characters not being AWESOME but instead being disappointing human beings.

Of course there will be people who simply don't like the game because they wanted another romp through the US with their favorite characters, which is not quite what will happen.... or they simply didn't enjoy the story and all that is fine. (see the mixed reviews) But it's quite clear that this game got review bombed by a lot of people who did not play the game and very likely aren't even old enough to be allowed to play this game and/or experienced enough to appreciate the themes it presents.

Thank you to everyone at Naughty Dog for making this incredible game, even if it was a serious downer most of the time.

    PS:
The shotgun in this game is incredible. It's the most satisfying and crunchy weapon I have ever wielded in any game, including EVERY Doom game, including the double barrel shotgun. They way it messes people (infected or not) up will make you giggle, no matter how many shooters you have played in your lifetime.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Alright, so i just finished the game, but let me start from when i started the game. i thought, "hm why are people hating this so much?", then Joel died, and in a not very cool way. I though that sucks, but, i also saw why they did it like that. They wanted to take the Hero off of his pedestal, and destroyed him, very literally. I thought it made sense, they want the audience to feel the same as Ellie. It made me want revenge just like it made Ellie want revenge, i personally thought that was fantastic. Then while playing as Ellie i loved the graphics, i enjoyed the game play, i liked the sneaking, and i liked the suspenseful moments. They could have worked on a lot of the person to person interactions, to me a lot of it seemed awkward and through a lot of the flashbacks i kept seeing a weaker Joel, a Joel who cowered i fear of Ellie at all times. He was meek whenever Abby was around. I disliked that, in the second game, and some flashbacks that went back to before they had the bust up, he could quip back at her and wasn't passive. I also didn't like having to play as the enemy... it didn't humanize them to me, it made me hate them more, i hated playing with Abby, Owen etc. I see what they wanted to do from a narrative perspective, they wanted to show that the enemy inst so different from the character we love, which is fine, but i didn't like it. I like that we saw JJ, Dina and Ellie live happily in the house, but i hate that Ellie couldn't let it go for Dina, and lastly that Dina was gone when Ellie came back, more on that later. When Ellie then leaves i do not like that we have to save Abby to then fight her, to then let her leave again. I wanted to kill Abby, we traveled far to kill Abby, so let me **** kill her, that mercy **** sucked, the little flashback to Joel that makes her think he wouldn't like this is dumb, she was having PTSD about seeing Joel die and now she grows a conscience out of no where? Screw that i want Abby to drown. When we get back Dina and JJ are gone, everything is gone, Ellie stuff is packed into one room, and we then play the guitar, only to learn she cant, because Abby bit two fingers off Ellie in the fight. Then we have a flashback to Joel and Ellie sorta reconciling after their feud, which was good because a lot of the flashback implied a lot of tension, but the last flashback showed the still loved each other and wanted to reconcile. But what i HATE, absolutely despise, is that we didn't get to see Dina and JJ again, they built up the living together part and the leaving scene was so dramatic, i wanted to see them make up and walk together into Jackson as the gates close. Or at least have it as a post credit scene. Its a fine game, i had fun, but the thing i hate the most, is not killing Abby, and not seeing Dina again.

To who ever has read all of that, thank you for listening to my opinion, and have a nice day.

There are some elements of the gameplay that can occasionally feel a tad stale or tedious, but it flows gracefully between exploration, environmental puzzles, and dynamic combat that can quickly ramp up from slick stealth to explosive, seat of your pants combat. Obviously the story has been extremely divisive, and many have simplified the theme as a “killing is bad” kind of deal, but the way the moment to moment played out, both in the writing and the gameplay made me feel engaged in a way very few games have before.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Although I did prefer the first game overall, there is no question to me that this is objectively one of the best games on this generation of consoles. Subjectively, of course people might like or dislike some elements of the game (whether from a gameplay or story standpoint), but there is no way this is objectively rated "average" at a 5, let alone a 0. I'd say people rating this a 5 or below are not acting in good faith (or have not played enough games in their life to know what a mediocre game really looks like), and the "0" reviews should entirely be discarded (alternatively, any user review posted on the day of the release should probably have been prevented or deleted by metacritic. The game itself takes 25h to finish)

The Last of Us 2 has flaws (although they in my opinion don't prevent it from being an excellent game) Gameplay wise, I'd agree that the stealth aspects of the game feel a bit dated for example. Story wise, I'm sure a lot of things could have been told differently, although I won't pretend I'd know how.

I could discuss at length the many qualities and issues of the game, but a lot of critics, professional or otherwise, have done a better job at it than I ever would. What I can say is that after finishing the game, I felt empty and extremely sad, but in a good way, if that makes sense. Basically there are not that many video games that can make me feel connected to the characters in such a strong way. "Life is Strange" comes to mind, and TLOU1, of course. As such, I'd say this game was a huge hit for me. I know I will still be thinking about this experience 10 years from now.

Not a 10/10, because 10 to me was TloU1, and I don't think #2 beats it in my heart, but definitely one of the best games on PS4 as far as I'm concerned. Super disappointed that the review bombing has been preventing adult discussions on the flaws and merits of the game.

Playing TLOU2 is an intense, immersive and often painful experience. It is also a deeply meaningful one, which is the real reason this game is a masterpiece, even though it’s not instantly gratifying on an emotional level like most games are.

This is a very mature game, not (only) because of its gore but above all because of its psychological undertones. It really is a journey to the deepest and darkest recesses of the human soul, akin in many ways to Apocalypse Now. Once you finish TLOU2, you will feel an irrepressible urge to discuss and revisit it with your friends or with the wider world. It will stay in your mind for years.

Do ignore all the hullabaloo about the game being “political” or having an agenda. Everything is political. TLOU1 also was. Depending on your ideological standpoint, you may consider the game’s morals progressive, reactionary or even cynical or nihilistic. Such ambiguity, rarely found in this medium, makes for exceptional storytelling and elevates TLOU2 above your run-of-the-mill games.

All the technical achievements you would expect from a highly awaited AAA game are here: the extraordinary visuals, the deeply moving soundtrack (Gustavo Santaolalla will deservedly win many awards for it), the impeccable acting/dialogues and the efficient if not too creative gameplay.

The reasons why I don’t give TLOU2 a perfect 10 are its occasionally repetitive exploration mechanics, which sometimes clog the pacing, especially the endless need to search every corner of every room for supplies; and a few questionably rushed storyline choices in the second half of the game.

Still, this is an absolute must-play that will be enjoyed and debated for generations to come. I hope NaughtyDog and Neil Druckmann will someday release a third instalment, no matter how many years it takes to develop it.

The game is littered with beautiful and heartbreaking moments, and wonderful characters. The story is told beautifully, despite however “cheap” that story may be as others have claimed.

The story aims to make you feel the pain and emptiness of the post-outbreak world, while highlighting the complexity of the people in this world. Abby has a real and understandable reason to kill Joel, reflecting how Joel had a real and understandable reason to save Ellie from the hospital (killing Abby’s dad in the process). Although it may be painful for us as players, it’s an open and brutally honest take on the cycles of violence that plague the world of TLOU.

Where I think this game falls apart is the characters on the WLF side of things. Through the 10 hours you play as Abby, the game attempts to make you realise the pain that Ellie’s crusade brings into the world. And from that angle the story works, however the execution of the characters that are suffering from these effects falls short. None of them are as like-able as the characters from Ellie’s arc, and this causes the story to fail at the emotional high points of Abby’s arc.

The unnecessarily brutal execution at the beginning of the game made it impossible for me to empathise with the switch of characters halfway through the game. Ending the game left me feeling depressed and hollow for days. Gameplay was great but my experience suffered a lot because of the aforementioned issues. Expand

Attempts something narratively that most triple AAA games would be scared to even think about. It's risky and largely works except for the odd occasion where some of its gameplay choices don't quite gel with its story concept. It questions a lot of what we have been trained to expect from story based games so expect uncomfortable moments throughout.

Killing Joel in the first 2 hours was supposed to make you angry and make you feel how Ellie was feeling. The gameplay is amazing and is very satisfying. Having you play as Abby in the second half of the game is supposed to make you feel bad for Abby and see that what Joel did was not heroic. He wiped the fireflys out to save one person. The only thing I have against it is forcing you to play as Abby in the first fight between Abby and Ellie Expand

If you are coming from the first game in the series, the gameplay from Last of Us Part to Part 2 is the only thing that you will be familiar with. The story is not in the same 4 part structure as the first one. The game takes twice as long and with it comes more surprises. The Rat King fight comes at you out of nowhere and I was sweating in fear. That's how immersed I was in this game. The origin story of the WLF and Seraphites is incredibly interesting (Rattlers not so much....). I think the story told might be divisive as you are simply playing out the decisions that your character makes, but you won't come out of the game regretting you played it. Expand

I don't care what anyone says, whether i agree with the choices of the characters or not if a story can illicit such a powerful emotional response from me then i don't consider it bad storytelling. IMO was 100% a masterpiece in that regard. after finishing i tried to start new game+ a week later and couldn't get through the prologue without breaking down into tears again.
and while I agree that it should have been a choice at the end, player choice was never apart of TLoU or even the uncharted games (haven't finished 4 so correct me if I'm wrong) so i understand why it wasn't an option in a ND game. Really don't understand the hate this games getting other than the people who are hating on it either haven't finished it or went in with their minds already made before even starting. just my two cents, absolutely loved it and will try to platinum on survivor+ when I can get through it without feeling torn apart.

Honestly, even if you don't like the story, the graphics and the amazing gameplay make it deserve more. It's not a 10/10 for me because the gameplay it's kinda of repetitive sometimes and I would change some things in the narrative to make abby more likeable, because I think she deserves the empathy that ND tries to cause on us, but her introduction to the story messed it up, I only started to like her when I saw her completely destroyed. The narrative is realistic I think that's why you're all so triggered. Nobody is a hero or a villain and the characters are unpredictable and I love that. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is amazing! I was very reluctant about buying initially due to all the bad reviews, however I am so glad I did get it. I was a big fan of the last of us and enjoyed this game just as much, if not more than the original. The way the game manages to turn you from hating abby for what she did, to really understanding her actions is something I've never seen in a game before. Ellie will always be my favourite of the 2, however her actions throughout are just as violent as abbys. The way they build abbys character through lev and yara is one of my favourite parts about the game. It's probably an unpopular opinion but I'm glad they didn't kill each other and both realised the damage revenge and bitterness can have. All that being said however, I do agree that Joel's death was the most heartbreaking moment of the game and he was definitely missed but that meant the flashback moments felt more emotional. The graphics are the best I've seen in a ps4 game. Finally the gameplay is brilliantly tense, I constantly felt on edge throughout. The only reason this isn't a ten is,as great as the gameplay is, it can get slightly repetitive however it is only a very minor issue in an amazing game. Expand

I saw one leak that came out 2 months before the game. It was a horrible(for a character) and major plot point. I sat there and thought well I need context. So I stayed away from anything related till I played the game for myself. I finished it last night. Feeling Satisfied yet I didn't always feel that way and I think that was the point. Game play was taken to the next level. Fun and fluid. Getting excited when looting for ammo and upgrades. Feeling terrified when you hear a Clicker or Seeing a Runner dash past you or the Roar of Shambler. When you encounter the infected you must be aggressive. Humans are a little more complex because they have gun, dogs, and tend to rally against you so stealth is mostly a good option. 60% you play as Ellie and her quest for revenge for the loss of a loved one. The other 40% is a new character Abby. The Game plays off the events of part I that bleed into part II. 3 days are with Ellie and those same 3 days as Abby and the ending is the Collision. Abby is hard to put empathy on because of her choice at the beginning of the game. When you play as her you don't care but the game continues to show she was justified and is a decent human but it's hard to turn Babyface (good guy) when you have nuclear heat as a Heel.(bad guy) In this post apocalyptic world good and bad isn't enough it's more grey. It's interesting to see a character you care about turn to revenge and how dark that takes you even if it's out of love. Flipside take a character you don't like and make selfless choices to help others then you begin to feel empathy. The Last of Us is still very much about Joel and Ellie. The scene at the Museum had my smiling and in tears. The Jurassic Park references in that was amazing and loved that. The Father/Daughter relationship is still the core. It's complex. It has to answer the hard questions left by part I. While I don't agree with every story choice doesn't mean it's a bad game and I feel like fans can't get past certain choices and won't experience it for themselves which I kinda get but you have to play the game NOT watch cut scenes to understand the journey. Also the graphics are Apex for PS4! So beautiful to look at. The Last of Us was one the greatest video games. While I don't think Part II surpasses it. I think it's a worthy sequel. The Last Cut scene was sad yet happy.

This game made me feel so many things. Some positive and some negative but none of the negative ones had to do with the quality of the game. I feel some people were primed to hate the game because they heard reviews about others who hated it and thus that set the tone for them.

The gameplay is smooth and free almost entirely of bugs, the level design is impeccable, the acting is phenomenal, and (what most people had issues with) the story is gritty, dark, and exhausting in the best way possible. I will steer clear of spoilers for the sake of encouraging others to play. In my experience, I went into this with the mindset of "this will be about Ellie and a very different narrative from the first game". While certain parts made me very sad the results, which you need to look at from a human perspective and not a video game perspective, are beautiful. Each character that you get to meet and understand a little bit more about them and their relationship with others although brief at times is just enough to send the message of "this person was important to so and so and now they are gone, they have lost someone dear to them".

You get to watch characters that you will grow to care about descend into a darker part of their mind than they thought they would. You get to observe how for some loss is not tied to only the death, but also to the loss of hope for all the times they fought and will never get to make up for, all the times they laughed which will never be shared again, and all the ways they shaped you into who you are which you may now come to learn, you can no longer be.

Some of the deaths, although sudden, do reflect the reality of loss. You can't predict when it will happen and it can be jarring when it is sudden and violent. It can cause anger and in the worst cases violence in those mourning.

Some view the game as pretentious, trying too hard to show people the dangers of revenge to others and to the self. I can appreciate that feeling. It was a long game and really worked to make the players feel defeated by the end and ready for something new. For me though, that is exactly why the game works. You can tell how each character is exhausted and wants to stop, but something in them keeps them from doing so and makes them blind to their actions until they do something that makes them think "is this too far?".

This was not the Last of Us (1). This was the Last of Us part 2. Ellie is grown up, she knows things now about Joel and her past and she, as well as the other characters, will be far more complex because of this. This was a Beautiful game, I am on my second playthrough right now and my advice for those hoping to play it: the game is human emotions at their most raw and violent, each character is connected to the others in some way. Remember that when thinking about how you are not connected to a certain character another is or when you are tired of the quest and the struggle, so are they.

I hope this was helpful and made some sense!

Graphics are some of the best I’ve seen on my PS4, the gameplay was also great. I loved trying to sneak around and be as stealthy as possible even though it normally ended with me having to go guns blazing. The story is the only place I felt the game faltered. Playing as Ellie was the best part hands down and the final hour or so of the game with her was my favorite part of the game. Abby I just never could get into as a character. I liked the majority of the characters surrounding her but for some reason couldn’t get to the point where I was rooting for her or even really cared. I’m totally fine with her actions in the beginning and was genuinely surprised when that scene happened and was curious to see her side of things. But in the end even after 10 some odd hours with her I still kept hoping she would be killed off. I’m replaying it again and maybe the second time around I’ll see things I didn’t before or understand things better. Still a great game overall though. Expand

In my opinion the combination of forgiveness and Revenge perfectly mixes making the game a bitter sweet experience.yes Joel dies in a way that is untraditional to his behavior...But thinking about it logically he’s gotten 5 years older probably in his 50’s and has a new life in a protected place with not many issues,he has no one to protect so he lets his guard down and pays for it.Joel wasn’t supposed to be this great guy,he used violence as a first choice in almost everything in the first game.Him taking Ellie from the hospital was selfish but he tries to make up for what he did and Ellie never forgives him fully for it until the game is finally over. Then Ellie not killing Abby shows that she is finally at peace with Joel’s death and doesn’t need to do what she originally presumed to find peace...killing people. She finds out that trying it get revenge only ends in more pain and death. As we see with Abby after she kills Joel she still has nightmares until saving Yara and lev.Other than that the graphics are the best I’ve ever seen in games. The story though originally looks like a failure I feel over time people will see what it was meant to be delivered as.One last criticism I’d like to have seen a different opening to the game like the museum scene there instead of Joel explaining things we already know to tommy. The game gives you the perfect balance of disliking Abby and liking Abby to the point where you’ve got her in the water you don’t know if you want to kill her or not.Ellie loses everything just to have the feeling of inner peace.Thats all in time it will be scene as a masterpiece. I have mixed feelings after reaching the end of the game in 30 hours.

First the game is great and fun to play, I was happy to retrieve a lots of mechanism from the first game. The infiltration system works well and there is a serious improvement on AI (your companion can be spotted by the enemies, even though they get sometimes in your way).
The graphics are great but what is really impressive is the tangibility of the environment and the animations and facial expressions. I especially loved exploring all the areas and feeling that humidity of Seattle. The facial expressions in cut-scenes or in-game are really on point and I don’t expect to see a game having that level of details for a long time. When you handle enemies, watching their expression is uncanny. The global atmosphere and universe is really well done and I was hooked during the entire game. However, there are some pacing issues and after the credits you can’t remember every confrontations because there are plenty, maybe too much. At some point the game starts to feel quite repetitive even though there are always a jump scare, or a character being tortured, mutilated or shot at some point, to galvanize the pace of the journey.
The game is one of the most violent I have ever seen. Some scenes are quite shocking and will haunt you forever. However, gore and violence sometimes seems to be an easy shortcut to get rid of characters and tricky situations that would have actually been interesting to see more elaborated. The game is very dramatic and depressing and will leave you emotionally exhausted at the end.

I was however greatly disappointed by the characters development in general. The game never managed to make me empathize with the new characters introduced. At one point you can feel like the writers wants you to like one character in particular, so they put everything they can to make you like her, but it felt forced. I wanted to feel and understand what Naughty Dogs wanted me to feel and understand but I couldn’t, because they did such a good job of pissing the player in the first hours of the game that you can’t get attached no matter what you will share with this character. I was also disappointed by the lack of interactions between the protagonists during exploration which helps building the characters and getting attached to them. So there was a lots of awkward silences which could have been used to build the characters and make them more likable, human.
So how can I rate a game that is so good and so well polished, but from which I feel emotionally excluded.

The Last of us part II, is a good game. Yet I understand the division in the player base, because it depends on everyone sensibility and capability to get over his own resentment. I can’t deny it’s unprecedented. But was it really intentional though? I globally liked the experience and would recommend to play it, however, on a pure writing and character building aspect, that's a big disappointment.

A worthy follow-up, though not quite as good as the first game. Gameplay has been improved greatly with more fluid melee combat and the ability to jump and crawl. Also a few sections with some free-roam/exploration areas that are more open world than the first.

Story-wise, I think it does well to explore the price venegence takes on people and how trauma can stay with a person long after an event. It also does a good job of making you more sympathetic to characters you start off hating. After finishing the game, I was satisfied with the story, even if it ends on a fairly depressing note

Expand

It also spends far little time with some characters, and it should focus more in their relations and in the build up to certain events, and i think this Was made for time concerns

If you are a player that rushes trough the game and doesnt allow himself Into the last of us tipical
scavenging and exploration, you Will lose lore trough carácter interaction and collectible notes, that increses the way you view the characters in the game, and that Will give you context to their relations

The game has some pacing issues created by the dificulty of talking such a huge and complex story, it has a abrupt Change between part 1 and part 2 of the game, and it stops you from enjoying part 2 if you were not able to calmly and openmindedlly play the first part.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When I first finished TLOUP2 I was mad, angry, disappointed and frustrated. After the credits rolled I was thinking “what a let down” until I decided to try and replay the game and see things differently. After a second play through I can say that this game is a masterpiece of storytelling. Yes **** dies rather quickly. I was angry, I hated Abby so very much. but that is exactly what the game is trying to make you feel. Anger, resentment, hate, & revengefulness. You are SUPPOSED to hate Abby, You are SUPPOSED to feel these emotions in full force. People have failed to see exactly what Naughty Dog was going for. Of course we wanted Ellie to get revenge. We all wanted Abby dead. But unfortunately real life doesn’t always work in your favour, you don’t always get what you want. The game made me feel all of these emotions including happiness, sorrow, resent, hate, love, revenge, & forgiveness. No game has EVER made me feel all of these emotions through 1 play through let alone 2. However, I think if the game went back and forth between Abby & Ellie’s story as apposed to 3 days as Ellie then 3 as Abby. It would’ve made each death more impactful making the player feel EVEN worse for the actions they committed while on this ultimately failed revenge path. Ellie ends up forgiving Abby. Revenge is not what the story is about.... Forgiveness is what The Last Of Us Part II is truly about. It will go down as by far one of THEE greatest gaming expirences you will ever witness from a story standpoint. The gameplay is just as fun as it was in the first game. With the mechanics being polished and shining brighter then they ever have before. It is even further enhanced by the drop dead gorgeous graphics. Every scene is jaw dropping. Especially on a PS4 pro with a 4k display. Action is brought to brutally realistic detail with every weapon fired and every slice of Ellie’s switchblade. You felt every punch, slice, and every bullet. If you go into TLOUP2 with an open mind and realizing you may not get what you think/want then this game is absolutely worth every minute and dime you spend on it. 9.5/10 Expand

Towards the end I felt more for Abby then Ellie but Last of us is about Joel and Ellie to me, so this just makes me confused.
They didn’t need to shock us as much as the first game did, just could have given us more of that beautiful and engaging story to pursue.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. the problem is that everyone thinks Joel is an immortal being, and they don’t realize that he has changed since he arrived in Jackson, but the important thing is, in an apocalypse, he doesn’t have a heroic death, people die like **** at the end of game, it shows that Abby's boat is ahead, but Ellie's is not, you know why? It's because she still doesn't understand that revenge only screwed her up, but Abby already realized that her search for revenge to kill Joel, killed all of her friends, and that revenge didn't bring anything, but Eliie hasn't realized it yet , I believe that those who didn’t understand the game and gave 4 ~ 5 really didn’t think straight, I think it could be something else, but no problem, TLOUS 2 is a game about love, not revenge, what proves this is that Abby doesn’t wanted to continue revenge, for having someone like Lev, who is important to her. I'm not a very good writer so I'll keep this short and spoiler-free. I loved the first game, a solid 9/10 game in my opinion. The sequel takes the moody, depressing world and fleshes it out over a solid 25-30 hour story. It can be somewhat overwhelming if that kind of thing gets to you, especially in the midst of the current pandemic. The sequel takes the moody, depressing world and fleshes it out over a solid 25-30 hour story. It can be somewhat overwhelming if that kind of thing gets to you, especially in the midst of the current pandemic. This is not a story that tries to make you feel happy and it never pretends to either. Video games typically don't get an emotional response out of me, but this one was different. I had been so invested in characters that returned from the first game and a couple new ones as well, but by the time you really get going you may not even recognize them as the same characters you interacted with in part 1, not because of poor writing, but through character development that's both believable and engaging. This isn't a story with a single "message" or "theme," there are so many ways you can look at the story and take from it what you will just like the first game, a game that inspired so much theory-crafting and discussions about the morality and where the story could possibly go from there. I'd say this story did the same, but not in the way many were expecting. There is a section of the game about 2/3rds through that seems to drag on far too long, but other than that I was immersed and invested in the characters and the setting.

Gameplay is where I feel the game falls short of expectations. It really feels like more of the same with a few quality of life improvements. Part 1 came out in 2013, releasing a sequel seven years later with nearly the same combat makes it feel like an old game with a new coat of paint. It can be fun and it can get really intense but I really have to crank the difficulty up to keep it exciting.

Overall I thought it was a fantastic story that took risks and still managed to keep me emotionally invested and immersed. The gameplay was lacking any real big improvements, but the actors performances were all fantastic. I'd say it's definitely worth playing to anyone with a Playstation 4.

I'm really interested to see what's next for the series, be it a small side story like Left Behind or a bigger one like Uncharted Lost Legacy. Either way I'm on board and I will continue to be watching Naughty Dog to see what they achieve next.

The “political problem” it’s never been a problem, it does not say anything about the game, but it says a lot about the people. The fact that the problem “exists” proves that inclusion (not forced at all here) is necessary.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.
