It is not a fairytale about unicorns and happiness. It is a story about loss, desperation, struggle and humanity, after all. Joel was never a 100% positive character, and weeping about him being killed in post apocalyptic world, while living in a world where you could be killed for a few bucks in your valet, hit-and-run or whatever else dumb reason, sounds ridiculous.… Expand

    Beautiful game. Had me go through an emotional roller coaster. I was frustrated and angry. Sometimes i didnt want to play the game because it was stressful, but after beating the game it all made sense. They didn't want you to have this satisfying experience the whole game, they wanted it to be emotionally exhausting. And they accomplished that. Really raised the bar in terms of usingBeautiful game.     The game is a master piece
    The ghrafics are astonishing The sound design is super immersive and horrifying in jump scares The story is sublime never seen somthing that i expected And finelly the gameplay ,the most variées and imaginative gameplay yoy never feel bord and to have play it in hard mode i can tell that it's a real challenge i used as much boutons as my brain sells

He's not Nathan drake, this is a drama, not an action game. Gameplay graphics and story are all the best I have seen in this generation of console.     I honestly don't understand the flak this game is getting. I thought it was a really fantastic piece of entertainment, that word chosen specifically because it's a emotionally taxing and exhausting game to play but this only feeds into the the grim dystopian future the game depicts. I would thoroughly recommend it

    Because I just finished the game (25 hours), I can give some legitimate feedback. Of course, the game IS amazing. The story is incredible and yes, it's hard. Like, really really hard. Made me cry a couple times. But it's really well written and everything is justified. And I mean the real one, not the faked leaked one or the **** you can read anywhere on this metacritic user Reviews page...

    This game is such a great piece of art and storytelling. Living in a post apocolyptic world relationships can make you or break you. Death has its consequences and this story encompasses all of that and more.

    The graphics show the true power of next gen consoles. Never seen such a beautiful game.

    This game was absolutely incredible! The story was phenomenal. The graphics were a 10/10. The map was huge and exploration was fun. The dialogue and facial expressions were great. The game has replay value and I'm on my 2nd playthrough as I'm typing this. Both side stories were great. This game is so close to living up to the first one. If they made a part 3, id 100% play it! This game was AMAZING

    I absolutely loved everything about this game. Graphics, Game-play, Story everything was perfect. I will definitely replay it a few more times and Im sure it will be replayed every few months for years to come. Liked it so much I decided to join up this site for the craic and see whats going on.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Having completed the game (29 hours and 40 minutes), I can say that this game has the potential to be one of the greatest of all time. It is a very HARD story, but it is a very powerful and moving story.

    People who hate this game hate it because:
    A) They think it carries some political Agenda (It does not)
    B) They are angry that Joel got killed thinking that either he didn't deserve it (if you play the game, you understand why Abby killed him...and you would do it to) or that his death was "wasted," I disagree, Joel was not a nice man, he had more than enough red on his ledger over his life and he had to know there were probably at least a dozen people who had the motivation to kill him, but his death, as brutal as it was, was the catalyst for this game.
    C) They didn't get the "revenge" they wanted....and thereby missed the whole point of the game. The Revenge cycle destroys everyone who participates, willingly or unwillingly. They both lost nearly everyone that they cared for, but in the end, Ellie salvages her humanity.

    This game makes you see and experience the humanity on both sides. You experience the humanity and inhumanity of each. No one is innocent in this story and there is no happy ending, at least not in the traditional sense.

    But in the ending cut scenes we see that while Ellie has lost everything, she still has the option to start again and grow. She is not handcuffed to the past. It was a horribly expensive lesson, but it was a lesson she learned and is now able to grow from.

    Yes, it is not a feel good story and it is hard to play at times and it is emotionally gut wrenching at times, but I believe that this sets up the franchise for a fantastic Part III. I believe that TLOU2 will be just like what the Empire Strikes Back is to the original Star Wars Trilogy. A very dark middle that sets up a glorious ending for the saga. And all these "haters" are going to have to eat their words.    … Expand

The brutalility depicted is detailed to a point that you may feel a little queasy from time to time.

    Overall: The Last of Us Part 2 is a bittersweet and emotional triumph, where it throws you into a darker, more violent bloodbath than its previous title. It is also a game that will make you question the character's motives and morality at the end of My Score: 92/100    … Expand

    In my opinion it is an incredible video game in all kinds of areas but mainly in the emotional field, since very few games manage to make their players feel the emotions in such a well-achieved way both in the cinematics and in the confrontations against the various enemies .     I honestly love the game. My only issue with the game is the length, but that to me just adds replay value to it. I think it's a strong story. I think it's not the story everyone wanted, so they didn't enjoy it as much as they would have without the sky-high expectations. Honestly, this is probably in my top three games of this year

Es impactante la historia, ya que muestra las dos caras de la moneda, es difícil entender el por qué manejamos a Abby ya que ella mató al personaje más querido por toda la comunidad fans de The Last Of Us, y no me simpatizó jugar con ella, pero no es sinónimo de que no sea interesante la historia de ella, además se comprende la sed de venganza de las dos, el paralelismo en la historia hace que sea una oleada de emociones una tras otra. Felicito al equipo de Naughty Dog y a Neal Druckmann, se arriesgaron mucho con esta historia, que no ha simpatizado a muchos, y esta bien, no le tiene que gustar a todos, pero las criticas hay que hacerlas con base y criterio, no de forma grosera y tóxica como lo ha hecho muchos. It's not as good as the first installment, but I think that would be unreasonable to expect. TLoU was one of the best games ever made. This second part did what it sent out to do. View it for what it is rather than for what your expectations want. I've finished it twice now, and I think you'll appreciate the story more on the second playthrough.     The game is a masterpiece. The visuals are mind blowing. There has never been a better display of character models and facial animation. Gameplay makes you actually think about what you are doing, which is why many can't tolerate it.
    If you are simple minded and need your feelings kept in a safe space, then this may not be a story for you. This story is refreshingly something deep and different.

    I do not know why this game arouses so much hatred, played during the first hours and my god how beautiful this game is. Unmatched facial expressions, incredible audio level and design, and phenomenal graphics make it one of the most beautiful worlds ever created. Thank you Naughty Dog.

You may become enraged at times or suffer from a broken heart, but any story that can make you feel that way deserves maybe a little attention. We get to see two characters filled with rage and despair who see each other as pure evil, and start to see their actions weigh heavily on them.
    Pacing off? Oh definitely! This story could have flowed a lot more smoothly. But I'm definitely glad at most of the story/information being given. Abby could of done with a lot more building up and background to start off her side of the story.
    Beautiful graphics and world? HELL YES! So many small details and plenty of info around to pull us into the world! It was a long game, it left me winded and just waiting for the end at a certain point. On the contrary, now that it's been a couple days since finishing, I'm actually trying to psych myself up to go back into it on plus mode. I'm not looking forward to certain parts, but I really enjoyed the game overall.i know I'm going against popular opinion here, so who am I to say to play it?    … Expand

Not only the tecnical aspects of the game are incredible (graphics, playability, etc) but the experience and story are amazing. Before this game, I have never been so imersed in a game universe to the point that I think about it all day long. It is definitely not for every one: if you are close minded and expect a game that gives you a hero and a villain, don’t even waste your time. The Last of Us part II teaches you that everyone has a good and a bad side. Unlike most reviews that I read, I don’t hate Abby. I actually like her, and that doesn’t change the fact that I loved Joel and that I love Ellie. The two girls live in an environment that encourages them to be violent and seek vengeance, and that is all that they know. Joel screwed up when he killed the surgeon, and even though killing is never ok, Abby had her reasons for wanting Joel dead. Unliked Ellie who seeked vengeance at all costs and killed EVERYONE, Abby not only once but twice let Ellie go, since she only wanted Joel’s life. They both were very violent and in the end kinda got what they caused to others. Abby lost every single friend, got caught by that gang and almost died, and in the end even lost her dignity when Ellie almost killed her. On the same way, Ellie had the chance to put her family first and live peacefully, but she didn’t and again screwed up because Dina herself said she wouldn’t put up with it anymore. I really believe that they are both very alike, and both have a really bright side (abby saving the kids; ellie with her family) and a dark side, that unfortunately caused the death of Joel, Jesse, Owen, Mel and Nora (I hate them both but you get the point), and others. Lastly, I would like to congratulate the people that made this game, the whole story was perfect (even though I almost **** my pants fighting those zombies).     This fame is really awesome. The story is great and gameplay is super fun. People get hung up on the spoilers and other elements too much and they take it out on the games rating. It is genuinely just as fun as the first game. Play it for yourself and then see how great this game really is.

    I just finished The Last of Us 2 an hour ago. My immediate reaction: Wow! What a work of art!

    A lot of thought and care went into this game. There are so many little details producing such a realistic world, that over the last 19 days, when I wasn’t playing the game, images of the game would come to mind and elicit emotions, and I’d have to remind myself I wasn’t thinking about the real world.

    Without spoilers, I want to talk about what makes this an amazing game.

    The gameplay is an improvement over TLoU(1). The different items and tech trees are more intuitive, and cleverly distributed among characters. The choices about what to upgrade are interesting. When comparing notes with a friend, he upgraded things I didn’t, which means different players will have different experiences. The movement of the NPC’s, and how they interact with the environment are amazingly realistic. A very welcome improvement is the ability to go prone. In addition to adding a new challenge during puzzles, this adds to effectives of stealth movement.

    The music is beautiful and hauntingly evocative. At times I found myself feeling anxious or relieved and I’d realize it was because of the background music. One sequence in particular using Take On Me is so beautifully done that it brought tears to my eyes.

    I don’t know if there are industry awards for video game voice casting, but Christine Haas Korkosz should be nominated for them. The chosen actors truly bring these characters to life. In particular, the actor voicing Owen was outstanding. This character could have easily been a caricature, but Patrick Fugit brings this supporting character to life with humor, angst and hope, improving all the other characters he interacts with.

    The visuals in TLoU2 are almost worth the cost of purchase on their own. Some scenes and moments were so beautiful they made me gasp and want to linger longer than the game allowed. This is no small feat, to convey such wonder, joy, and beauty in a video game.

    So much thought and detail went into the creation of this world. I noticed, early on in the game that there was a crock pot in a bathroom. I thought, at first, “Why would there be a crock pot in the bathroom?” Then I realized, if there was no running gas for that house, they’d need to heat the water with something electric for a warm bath. In an abandoned apartment with a D&D set up in the living room, it was a wonderful surprise to see the (realistic) setup for miniature painting in another room. These tiny details are easy to miss, but contribute to making this world real.

    Sound effects can hurt a game if they’re weak, or are “invisible” if they’re good. In this case, they’re perfect. You’re talking to another character and they turn a corner without you? Then that other character’s words become muffled. You’re too close to an explosion? Sound is muted and you get a ringing in your ears. You’re trying to move in water? Your movements creates a quiet sloshing sound. Every action has a realistic sound reaction.

    The common thread I’ve seen among the negative reviews is that TLoU2 has a “weak” story with “plot holes”. It’s clear now to me that these reviewers didn’t actually play the game. While I can understand why some people might be SADDENED by events in the game, that doesn’t make it a weak story.

    When I think about what I want in entertainment, the common denominator is that I want something new and different. I don’t want to see the same things over and over again. When I see a movie and can guess early on how it’s going to end, that’s a mark of poor writing.

    I want to be stimulated. Surprised. And I want to feel some kind of connection to the characters. The Last of Us 2 accomplishes all this. This game made my heart race with adrenaline and anxiety. It made me gasp, flinch, care about the characters, and yes, even cry at times. The structure of the story was masterful with revelatory scenes carefully placed. While there are surprises, none of them are out of character. This is a well-told story.

    While I find it hard to call anything “perfect”, this game comes close. I do have 2 “areas of improvement”:

    1) The sound leveling. Several times during the game with loud background noise, the characters’ speech was sometimes soft. This resulted in me missing part of a joke, or part of a backstory, which frustrated me.

    2) The length of the game. The game went on just a little too long. To a degree, I understand. This was an in-depth story and it was important to experience different events to show the growth, evolution, and interaction of the characters. I just wish there was maybe one less battle, or maybe a little more tightly edited cut-scene.

    The Last of Us 2 is a masterpiece. I cannot imagine getting a better value for my entertainment dollar. Naughty Dog deserves to be proud of what they have accomplished.    … Expand

The action, the game play, the gore, the heart-wrenching story... I felt every emotion running through my body whilst playing the game. Even the "death scene" of you-know-who made me not want to quit, but continue on, because I'd feel exactly like Ellie in wanting revenge! But then to my horror and disgust, I started to play the villain! Ugh, I was mad... I hated her. But as I continued on, she's not half bad. I still blame her though, since technically her dad was going to kill Ellie, so what did she expect? But anywho, it's not that I like Abby now, but I did understand how it came to this. Although I can do without the Abby sex scene, I find myself hoping Ellie wouldn't kill her in the end (if you havent played it yet, then play it to see what really happened ;). The romance between Ellie & Dina is organic and realistic, made me smile (as I would on any sweet, romantic couples/stories in the middle of an apocalypse). All-in-all, loved it!!! Can't wait to see more of Ellie (praying it would happen), but for now, I'll have my hands full (with all fingers intact ;) with the next anticipated game of the year, Cyber Punk.     Brilliant story, brilliant graphics, brilliant gameplay, this game is a masterpiece, a risky game, not made to please fans, Naughty Dog made risky choices brilliantly, but obviously, not for everyone, it's almost PERFECT, but is not perfect, is a 10 rate game. The simply fact that you end with tears in eyes, made his a must play.

    Dzieło wśród gier wideo. Zaskakująca i dająca do myślenia fabuła która zostanie ze mną na długo po jej ukończeniu.
    Bardzo dobre rozwinięcie gameplayu znanego z pierwszej części.

The creators of this game told an amazing story that brought on emotions no other game has done. It was beautiful, haunting and sad. This game isn't meant to be fun given the storyline of what needs to be taken care of. Those upset about Joel's death fail to realize that Joel was not a hero. He was just as bad as any of the ones he killed. His choices were bound to haunt him. This game will live on no matter the critique because it started a conversation. It polarizes people's feeling of why loved the game in the first place. Congratulations Naughty Dog for continuing the hard work you put into your storytelling!… Expand

The last of us part 2 is difficult to get through, not because it’s is a hard game, but because it thoroughly humanizes your enemies. You kill people and then get to know and appreciate who they are and who they were with the knowledge that you’ve already ended them. You start off thinking this is going to be a simple revenge story and then realize that your enemy deserves their vengeance as much as you. This is a morality tale that makes it clear that in pursuing vengeance, you will lose everything.… Expand

La verdad no sé por qué se quejan de que mataron a joel con palo de golf o por que el final ellie perdona a Abby primero reto a todos los que critican poniendo 0 a este juego que hagan uno mejor segundo la muerte de joel en mi parecer demuestra que en este mundo nada es infinito y que los personajes de videojuegos tienen su fragilidad hace ver a joel como un personaje real y no sacado de un cuento de adas tercero si ellie perdona a Abby es por que demuestra la pena del ser humano quiero ver si alguien es capaz de matar a sangre fría sin remordimiento por eso no critiquen por que he visto que muchos critican el juego y ni lo jugaron… Expand

The story is an interesting take on how feelings influence perception, many people couldn't see past the death of Joel and hated all the game because of this, not to talk about Abby as a character. When Abby and Lev were targeted by a sniper that kept besting them, I really wished to take him down and got angry when he killed Many, only to find out it was Tommy!!

    What people don't get is that even when we love Joel and Ellie, there's always the other version of the story. Ellie became what Abby turned into when she saw her father 4 years ago in that hospital floor, driven by hate and a wish for vengeance. Abby knew it wasn't worth it, she lost everything because of that and then Ellie learned that the same way. Both paths ended the same way but in different times. This story was about loss and acceptance. At least that's what I saw.    … Expand

    Excelente juego, te enseña sobre el lado oscuro de un mundo post apocaliptico, detalla la historia de cada personaje y como se desarrollaron hasta comprender que cada vez pierden mas humanidad por un intento de "sobrevivir", madurando a medida que viven cada suceso, viendo que lo que hacian antes no los diferenciaba de los infectados.

    Excelente en casi todos sus apartados, extraño la música del 1 y algunas zonas con enemigos se hacen un poco densas.
    Me encanta lo que hizo Naughty Dog en cambiar la típica historia del héroe, acá no hay buenos ni malos, solo sobrevivientes. Me entristece ver muchos 1, se nota que el juego molesta y genera envidia, porque aun que no te guste la historia, este juego no es de 1.     Gráficos: No hay mucho que decir, lo mejor de la tecnología y en esta generación de consolas a 30 FPS. 10/10

    Historia: En la primera parte era una historia de amor de un padre a su hija mientras que en esta segunda parte se trata de la venganza tras un enfrentamiento con otro grupo de sobrevivientes. La cantidad de emociones que sentí a lo largo de las casi 25 horas que me tomo terminarlo no las sentí en ningún otro juego nunca, odio, amor, tristeza, angustia, miedo, ansiedad y fue a lo largo de todo el juego, es súper emocional y súper atrapante la historia que siempre queres saber que va a pasar.

    No cuenta con multiplayer ni con DLCs extras.

    En conclusión, recomiendo The Last of Us Parte 2, lamentablemente este juego sufrió el review boombing de gente que ni jugo el juego arruinando la calificación del juego. Si tenes miedo, espérate una rebaja aun que va a tardar bastante pero seguramente te va a encantar.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is amazing,from story, to sound to the minor AI habits of the NPC's. Highly recommend playing with earphones for the best experience. Ignore all others discounting this because of" Shock value" or "being woke" if you played the first game it starts with your daughter dying and Ellie accepting being Gay in a **** up apocalyptic world. Nothing in that aspect has changed so it acknowledges the first game in that aspect. If your afraid of gay characters this is not the game for you and you should have bigger problems with people being people. Love the game for the relatable story in those circumstances and have a great time. 10/10… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
