Joel is not used properly as a character, he's just a plot point. It feels like they are embarrassed by the original game characters so theg create a bunch of new ones that aren't nearly as interesting.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The original game TLOU didn't have extraordinary gameplay, but what made it an amazing game was the setting and the storytelling.

    TLOU2 is the same as TLOU in terms of refine gameplay but nothing groundbreaking, so the only thing left is to see how the story unfolds from the original. Save yourself the trouble and money, just watch a stream or video of the storyline to understand the outrage it has caused.

    Naughty Dog tries to be shocking (not innovative) by killing the main character you come to know and are attached. Make you play as the killer to try and garner some sympathy votes. Of course they will think the review bombing has to do with hating LGBT, however it has nothing to do with that and more with the terrible storytelling about revenge where no one is the winner and nothing is resolved.

    Just imagine watching a TV show you enjoy and they replaced the main character after season 2 with a brand new face / character who you dont know and dislike (most likely), and they try to forced feed you something different. Thats not why you started to watch the show originally.

    It's a shame Naughty Dog won't learn from this mistake but kudos for being remembered for being controversial.    … Expand

    la muerte de Joel es completamente ridícula e incongruente con el anterior juego y este echo lo arruina todo, mínimo lo hubieran matado al final del juego y teniendo una muerte digna.
    ademas de que el final del juego es una completa basura que hace que todo el genocidio que hiciste no valga la pena lo cual termina en la conclusión que la historia es una mierda ya que si vas a hacer un juego de venganza, pues terminarlo con eso, con venganza, este juego se caga en todo lo impuesto por la anterior entrega por ejemplo: la construcción de los personajes el cariño que le tenemos y sus formas de actuar.
    sin mencionar que esta repleto de basura progre e ideologías políticas y sociales que la verdad ya me tiene harto que se incluyan tan forzado en los juegos.

    One of the worst story sequels I have ever had the displeasure to play. Neil you are a disgrace. The follow up to goat simulator has a better narrative. You and your writers should be hang your heads in shame. Play the first hour then call it a day and think of it as an extended DLC to the original. Do not continue past this you have been warned.

It’s an ugly game that forces the player to do ugly things for no reason save to subvert your expectations. The game will force you to play as characters you don’t simply hate but utterly despise the sight of. It tries to be edgy with gray morality, but comes off as a teenage edge lord wailing in his room to bad music. The lowest point is murdering the most beloved character in gaming by some sort of berserk genderqueer psychopath (“It’s Ma’am!”) You are then expected to play as and sympathize with said psychopath. Including an explicit sex scene between said psychopath and the game writer/directors transparent self insert character. It’s “Tumblr The Game!” This is arguably one of the worst, games ever made. Inarguably one of the most disappointing. This is not the Naughty Dog you once loved. That Naughty Dog was murdered by a Derranged Ma’am with a golf club, who is now wearing its skin.… Expand

    However the games story is a by the book revenge story uroboros (the snake that eats itself).. the game force feeds the player this treatment. As a result the game has lost its appeal due to its treatment of its characters. Abby's dad is the doctor at the end of LOU 1 and this chapter of the game has even less of an ending than LOU 1. So its obvious that there will be a LOU 3.

    I was vested in the return of Joel & Ellie and the game takes a giant dump on Joel and leaves Ellie's character wanting. Totally took me out of emersion seeing Neil Druckmann on a trading card and then as an actual character who spits on Joels body. (don't fool yourself, that's Druckmann). How meta & edgy.

    Abby's character was two dimensional and needed better writing. If her story is to be continued in last of us 3 it needs a lot of work. Her story kind of starts where Joel was at the start of the LOU 1. She has lost someone important and has done bad things going on from there. She meets someone that turns her life around (Liv) just like Joel. Helping Liv turns abbys path away from destruction to building something good for herself. I feel there was two stories and the melding got lost in the process of making several shock moments that are supposed to tie the stories together. The attempt to make the player bond with abby was off the mark.. it needed more work and perhaps putting it at the front of the game rather than the middle would have worked better.

    I loved Dina & Liv they need more story time perhaps in LOU 3 or DLC. The game mechanics where very similar to that in last of us with a slight improvement. Many Players left wrecked and wanting justice for Joel #Justice for Joel. Ending was very wanting and left me as a player feeling very let down... I think that the marketing lies also added to this feeling, As if I was tricked into buying it almost. believing that after a seven year wait I as getting more of Joel & Ellie. I waited for a planned sequel that was just filler for the LOU 3 (its coming, believe me, naughty Dog Only has the LOU & crash bandicoot to work with after Druckmann disposed of Amy Hemming and ended her creation Uncharted).

    I have spoken with other players and their reaction to Joel was the same (many female). The sex scene with abby was forced and badly done and left the player feeling soiled in a way, there was not the connection you have with Ellie & Dina in their scenes .

    I Give this a 5/10 Because of the story mess, you had seven years and you copied & pasted the walking dead plots. do better Naughty dog. l would wait & Buy this game when the price drops #Juticeforjoel

    One finial thought which was never brought up... the Fireflies were a faction in the LOU world. If Joel had agreed to let them create a vaccine (if it was a 100% assured (which it wasn't) a lot of the letters / docs found indicated they were not as competent as they made out.     I wonder if the studio deliberately wanted the players to feel horrible as they played through this, wanted their customers, some like me who waited 5+ years to get their hands on this, to suffer and want to put the controller down?

    If that was indeed their goal, I do believe they succeeded. To me, The Last of Us is purely a masterpiece - of course there may be optimizations needed for the gameplay, but the unforgettable narrative made up for everything. It tells the ugly yet beautiful story of a father figure who had lost it all before, bond to this sweet girl, giving him hope when all seemed lost. Now all of that is taken from us, and the loyal players are left absolutely numb. Aside from the top-notch graphics and soundtrack TLOU2 has, I am left utterly heartbroken and disappointed.

    In no game you will find it obviously stated, but it will be portraied with an underlying tone, so that the user might get used to it.

    It feels forced, it doesent feel natural. If you are trans/bisexual, so be it, but do not make a big deal out of it, as if its superior or any more noteworthy than a straight guy/girl.

    Gameplay gets too repetitive especially if you play stealthy, I wasted 60 bucks on this and would give the first game a 10 out of 10 because the story carried it, but come on the story for this one only uses shock value and is uncreative.

    Some effort seems to have been made to improve upon some of the old features but this seems lacking. (Adding a jump button doesn’t really count as groundbreaking) 1 point.

    The character acting and the Mocap work is first rate and second to none and this alone scores 2 points from me.

    Where this game falls apart is in its horrible story, I fell in love with Ellie and Joel from the first game and was promised a continuation of their story, what I got was two characters who acted completely differently to the Ellie and Joel I knew, and other characters I just didn’t care about and abbey infuriated me! Watching her kill Joel Then forcing me to play as her for hours! I quit the game in disgust and refused to play on.

    I have since watched the story through YouTube and it seems I made the right call. It doesn’t get any better, only worse.

    Thankfully Australian law meant I could refund my game so I Didn’t lose any cash over this.

    My recommendation is if you want to see the story watch it on YouTube but if you still really want to play this game wait 6 months and pick It up on sale in the discount bin. That’s were it’s headed.    … Expand

But that's what happens with good story telling and in-depth character development. You become attached, you love them and hate them! It's the whole point of the journey! Don't hate on it just because Ellie's gay,It's beautiful, it's sad, it's nostalgic and it's everything I was waiting for!     Graphic : 9-10 / 10 ( very good, nothing to say about it )
    Fighting : 8 / 10 ( smooth, it will better if you have more non-kill option like MGSV if you want to tell revenge is bad )

    ( There is many other ways to "Kill Joel", many ways to re-arrange the memory ordering in the game, and many ways to tell the story for Abby so that we can get more interesting on her )

    For the people who love Joel, what will be the feeling that they need to control Abby after Abby kill her like that in the very beginning and Joel is just act like an idiot ( unlike he is much more careful in the last of us 1 ), I think the only feeling is disgusting.

    It can be better if they include Abby in the fake trailer.
    It can be a good game if it is a separate story for Abby.
    It can also be better if the story just starting with Abby and her story, then she find Joel is the one who kill her father.

    And if the directer want to ask question,
    Just let me choose the answer in the ending of the game, but not only showing the animation.

    In conclusion, it can be a Great Game for EVERYONE but they just want to make a Game for SOME PEOPLE only, what a shame. Please don't call it "The Last of us Part II"    … Expand

    Absolutely disgusting story, characters make no sense from what they were in the first game. Ending is shallow and removes all feeling from a person, graphics are nice, gameplay is okay but the main selling point of the game is absolutely terrible.
