    There has never been a game more heart wrenching and beautiful, this is truly one of the greats. I am so grateful that this game was created. I desperately want a third installment to come out, but take your time!

I gotta say I was very sceptical because of all the noise before the games release, but after having completed it I found it to be absolutely perfect. It had some really tough emotional scenes, but I feel like it fits in perfectly in this harsh imperfect world TLOU is set it. Lot of hard emotional scenes, that really adds to the post apocalyptic scenery. The graphics are stunning, gameplay is amazing, and the story blew me away. It’s just so hard hitting. I was left numb and emotionally drained at the end. Don’t believe the 0/5 comments, it’s become popular to hate on this game due to its representation of diversity and LGBT coverage. I am not for overrepresentation these issues normally but I thought they addressed it in a subtle and relevant way. It’s just incredibly well done. Masterpiece… Expand

    Combat is the best I’ve ever seen next to uncharted and god of war. I was put off by abby’s addition to the story but found her POV and gameplay much more enjoyable than Ellie’s.
    Improved upon the first game tremendously

Some people have criticized this as bad only after a couple of hours of playing or because they have read the spoilers. Sounds in the game is very good and music is incredible. This is for me a game of the year.
    I recommend playing to the end and then giving your opinion on the game because there are a lot of different flavors and styles for different games to play and you shouldn’t stare too many reviews just because you have to actually play and then think about what you liked.    … Expand

After 30 hours of playing I can happily say the follow up to my favorite game of all time lands in my personal top 5. With as little spoilers as possible, I was a big fan of Joel in the first game but I was a bigger fan of Ellie since I was around the same age as her when the first one came out. I did not agree with Joel taking away Ellie’s decision from her but like everyone understood why he did it. I did after the first one expect Joel to die and I did not have a problem with how he did. Joel’s character was never written to die protecting Ellie from clickers. That would be lazy writing. Having him die as brutal as it was, was In some way a testament to his character and the pain he caused others. But also his death caused the player pain setting up a good revenge story. You just know Joel himself knew he had it coming. Seeing other character like Jesse and Dina ready to sacrifice themselves for Joel shows how he impacted the Jackson community. Ellie remains my favorite character in the series after this game but I do hope if we see more in this series it includes more Tommy. Now onto abbys side, I found some the characters to be annoying. But I think each of them had valid motivations. I did not like Abby when I first started playing as her but as time went on I liked her more and more. Laura baileys performance was incredible. While I still was mad she killed Joel, I understood it and I felt her pain as well. While I’m at it all the acting was top notch. My surprise of the game was lev and yara who helped build abbys character. The gameplay in this game was my favorite of the ps4 single player games. It felt as realistic as an infected filled world could. The engagements felt real, and the enemies felt like they were each created with their own mind and personality. I will replay multiple times for gameplay alone, and hopefully it receives a multiplayer. The graphics and soundtrack were obviously top notch. With graphics being the best I had seen on a ps4 pro, and made me question if we need a ps5. One last thing is the hospital mission with Abby is one of the scariest missions I have played. I’m not a huge horror fan but I have played resident evils and it felt straight out of one. Verdict/TLDR- if you’re a fan of the first one and willing to go in with an open mind you will be very pleased as naughty dog proves they are one of the best again.… Expand

People really need to do a gut check and realize--if Naughty dog went with a cookie cutter story it would kill any chance of this story continuing. It would be nothing but Last of Us 1.5. Look, the Joel and Ellie story is still there but it is a finality. Now, they can really move the world forward. Also, the love between Joel and Ellie is on display throughout the game. The negative is Abby, she does come across a little annoying. However, there are still great parts with her story as well. The ending was amazing and did justice for Joel. WTG Naughty dog.… Expand

This game is **** awesome first off and people need to relax about SJW and playing as Abby they didn’t need anymore backstory to their characters you know enough about the main characters in the story sure it sucked seeing Joel die early nearly brought me to tears and then you have to play as Abby I took enjoyment out of it I loved watching her get killed when I made a mistake but it’s not all about her it’s about who is really the evil person sure Abby killed Joel in a gruesome way but Joel also murdered almost all the fireflies and took the one chance for a cure with him he damned the the entire human race for one girl because he loved her like the daughter he lost during the outbreak it’s hard to blame him for it too so is it really that hard to blame Abby for killing Joel(avenging her father and killing the one guy who stopped them from making a vaccine (also manny was one of my favourite of the former fireflies and he’s the **** who spits on Joel) in conclusion I’ve seen bad reviews about this game and me personally there either dumb as **** for not seeing the great story telling and making it more than just a revenge story and have it be one that’s also a redemption story for Abby and Ellie who cares if the main character is gay it’s not like Its actually you!! I gave this game a 10 for the great gameplay stellar graphics damn good story I think ND did a wonderful job and I hoe there will be a part 3!!!! agin… Expand

I felt so many emotions while playing and loved the relationships shown between Ellie/Dina and Ellie/Joel and how they developed. The gameplay was polished and fun, with cool animations and satisfying sound design. The settings were also diverse and you can really optimize what kind of challenge you want when playing. The story was suspenseful and bittersweet. However, if I’m going to nitpick the story did have some holes. Off the top of my head I can think of a few, such as why weren’t Joel and Tommy more cautious around Abby and her friends? They’ve lived a long time in a post-apocalyptic world and have wronged many, so I don’t think they’d be so open to share personal info. Also, I can understand how Tommy would turn spiteful in the end of the game, but if felt sudden and out of nowhere. It felt out of character to be that harsh towards Ellie. Maybe if we saw more development with Tommy and his anger towards Joel’s death it wouldn’t be surprising. Overall though I have very few gripes with the game and consider it a work of art. Just because the story didn’t always go the way I wanted to doesn’t make it a bad game. Although I still feel resentment towards Abby and will defend Joel for his actions, I was relieved that Ellie spared Abby in the end. Not for Abby’s sake, but for Ellie’s. She found her peace with Joel and realized she didn’t have to kill Abby to do it. The fight at the end showed how exhausting holding on to the pain and anger was, when neither of them truly wanted to continue. Ok that’s my rambling for today. Great game. Highly recommend.… Expand

From a gameplay perspective Naughty Dog also should receive credit; they have used modern technology to refine the great gameplay from the first game and build upon it further. Approximately half way through the game an event happens that forces you to adapt and a change the way you play. For an hour or two I was unable to rely on some of the stealth tactics I had been used to up to that point; this kept gameplay fresh and the challenge exciting. Before long I had extra tools at my disposal to play stealthily but in a different manner to the preceding 12 or so hours. The player is put into fresh and new encounters through the course of the game which is no mean feat across it’s run time (I saw credits roll at 25 hours and 53 minutes and collected 198 collectibles). I took a dive straight back in in order to find missing collectibles and achieve that Platinum trophy, which also seems very achievable for anyone. Ignore the low user score, this game is a must play.… Expand

    Incredible game, going for my second playthrough tomorrow! Can’t recommend it enough, however it is not for the faint hearted.

It sounds like it ruined the game for a lot of people and I genuinely feel bad for them, to be honest.    Have to do my part to correct this score from the people who didn’t even play it.

    That said, I understand from playing the game what moments were probably controversial to people. They all worked for me though, and tied into what was established in the first game both story-wise and tonally. For those of you that played it all the way through and still hated it, I think you may have misinterpreted the original game and the message it was putting forward.

    Gameplay might be some of the best stealth/survival combat I’ve ever experienced. They took what worked in the first game and just perfected it. The open world segments were a wonderful addition as well.

    Graphics are by far the best we’ve seen this generation. If you told me this was a PS5 game, I’d believe you.

    An absolute unpredictable, beautiful, scary, emotional, fun masterpiece. 10/10    … Expand

    The game is masterpiece. It is very good and real not a game but an art object.
    I dont want to ruin the plot with spoilers, but it is fantastic story. Quite logical and so on. A little bit too long and gameplay is only 8 not 10, so better to play 2 hours but not whole day as me.

    This may not be how the "fans" would have wanted it to play out - but they did an amazing job of telling the stories... with incredible graphics and attention to detail (as a musician i personally LOVED that this is the first game i've seen where the characters actually make accurate patterns on a guitar ) - and as always fantastic voice acting.

    This game is an emotional roller coaster. You'll laugh. You'll cry - both happy and sad - you'll get pissed off, and rightly so... but if the only thing you can take away from it is "screw this game" then you weren't a fan to begin with.

    This is the perfect way to continue the story of the Last of Us. i give it 5 stars. and 8 fingers out of 10 :D    … Expand

    TLOU2 makes you uncomfortable with its decisions, which imo is the best part. You really need to play the game for yourself and go through the ride with an open mind. Questioning all decisions, even from your beloved characters, is part of the game.

But it not fair if you just being Youtube Gamer (Just Watch and never played) or Anti-SJW and vote down this game(0-3). So many thing awesome in this game (like gameplay, option of accessible, environment in game, etc). It isn't deserve your anger score.

    At first after finishing the game I honestly couldn’t say I liked it. I almost hated it. That was what was so interesting to me. I didn’t hate it because it was bad, I hated it because it was exactly how I was supposed to feel. This game is about revenge. The depressing parts. We aren’t meant to feel good at the end of this game. We leave it feeling sobered. Anyone who had trouble playing this game, as did I, you are not wrong in feeling that way. This game is heavy. You are meant to have a hard time. But I am glad I finished it because it’s a game that will stick with me for a long time much like the first if not more than the first game. It’s meant to stick in your head and alter how you see things. This game was an experience. The first game felt like a journey where we were able to see Joel and Ellie. However, this game it was like I was Ellie. I was the one dealing the blows. I was the one having the traumatic feelings. I was the one right in her shoes. This game is meant to be played, not watched. You are meant to hold the controller. If you don’t, you are doing this game a great disservice for something that games this generation don’t do.     I waited so long for the continuation of this story and what they delivered was such a great emotional rollercoaster with the best quality and effort put into it just like the first one.

    Granted if you're looking for a happy story with butterflies and rainbows then it is not for you

La verdad es que el la historia está muy bien, es de las mejores y le queda, la historia en sí es él como ellie busca venganza, pero después de un de repente cambias de personaje y ahora eres la que torturo a Joel, siento que al principio no quería ni verla, me daban ganas de dejar de jugar... pero con el tiempo fui empatizando en ella y empecé a darme cuenta de que no solo es “la que torturo a Joel”, no siempre es mala, no siempre tortura gente, tiene amigos y buenas amistades, digo.. no es como que Joel o ellie nunca le hayan quitado la vida a algún padre o una madre, claro que si, y ese el el punto, que cada muerte cuesta y el que más sufre, son los familiares, como lo qué pasó con abby cuando Joel mato a su padre, en este juego nos enseñan que darlo todos por alguien, no era lo correcto, no era necesario seguir matando, no era necesario querer vengarse y no era necesario quitarle la cura a yodo el mundo solo por qué quieres mucho a la niña...
    Tristemente hay decisiones que no podemos tomarlas cuando el corazón nos guía, es por eso que este juego nos enseña qué hay que cortar ese ciclo de venganza, el Querer volver a intentar matar a abby por lo que le hizo a Joel, está mal.. ellie debió aprender a superar su pérdida, pues a pesar de no haber perdonado a Joel completamente, ellos se querían y sin importar si estuviesen enojados o no... Entonces, por querer buscar venganza... ellie lo perdió yodo...    … Expand

Instead, ND gave you the story which THEY wanted to tell and they were sure that some people would be angry, some people would love it but, what's most important, it will give you EMOTIONS and everyone would be talking about it. So, love it or hate it, they've succeeded and probably they love what's happening right now.

    I've finished this game (trophy said that only 15% of gamers finished it currently) and it's just unbelievable. I've never been so emotionally gutted like this by any game. I've cried a little at the end (I didn't cried at the first one, which I love). From gameplay mechanics it's definitely not perfect (but best "arenas" or "levels" are near the second half/ending of the game) but still it's a 10 from me because no other game accomplished this level of writing, directing and acting. No other game is leaving you with that level of emptiness. I don't think that any other game showed you that you won't accomplish anything from hate except senseless violence with no rewards on any level.

    It is a great story with beautiful graphics and good gameplay/mechanics. It's not perfect but no game is perfect. Leave your expectations, take a deep breath and give this story a chance. Just trust those authors. You won't be disappointed.    … Expand

    This game is really amazing. I don't know why it gets so much hate. This game is touching and beautiful. I wouldn't call it a sequel though. It's a separate story in a world of the first game. But still it is really worth playing.

The graphics are stunning, characters are relatable and you actually get to play someone you would rather have killed than actually play for a moment.. but everyone is a bad guy in this game and it teaches us that you can literally loose everything as fast as you got it.. and that’s frustrating and sad. I won't lie, I hated the direction the game took at first. It broke my heart. I thought it unnecessarily cruel. But the more I experienced the story for myself, I realized that maybe that was exactly the point. The game was never what I wanted or expected it to be. It exists not to pander to the players, but to make a statement on the human condition. It made me feel hate and love in equal measure. It made me enraged and then hollow by the end of it, broken as the characters and world around me. I love the game for what it is, not what it could've been. This story could've been what everyone wanted it to be. What everyone expected it to be. Instead, it slapped us in the face and gave us the exact opposite. A bleak, harsh reality that is justified by the established cruelty of its world. There is absolutely no way Naughty Dog couldn't have known this game was going to elicit intense vitriol from certain circles. They could've gone the "safe" route, given fans what they wanted, and proceed to garner praise, but instead they took a massive gamble and told a story they wanted to tell. Graphics: 10/10 - Best looking PS4 Game so far. This is undeniable and I'm pretty sure most if not all will agree. The detail of this game is amazing. Sound Music and Voice: 8/10 - They really made the game lean more into Horror. The background sounds are scary when in dark spaces and the silence in some places makes you seem wary of everything. The first game has its horror moments but this game take it up a notch.

    Story: 8/10 - I rate the first game a 9/10. I'm one of the rare people who didn't thought the game's story was a masterpiece but it was good for what they did. The first story was basically an old dude who can't move on from the death of his kid after so many years smuggling a kid to a group. That's it. The main story's focus is literally about Love and the relationship between Ellie and Joel. And they use that in the second game to make you hurt. The Part 2 is a story about revenge and they utilize it well. I'm not gonna touch into too much of the spoilers. But the game has two Protagonist, Ellie (Protagonist) and Abby (Antagonist) both are woman are on a quest for revenge and hate for different yet justifiable reasons. A lot of the hate for this story is with Abby as abby does horrible **** and they let you play as them and make you do this as a player instead of a cinematic experience. They did this add context to what she does and why she does what she did. From a story telling platform this actually makes sense, since I don't think anyone one would have wanted to start 10 plus hours of the game at the start as a Stranger. Instead they give you chunks of her story at a time and chunks of Ellie's story. It's a little weird and to be honest I guess they could have just divided the two. Like an option to Play Ellie's story and Abby's story in the menu or unlocking Abby's story after playing the game. I'm sure this would have made the game a whole lot better for other people out there. For me, personally I don't have a problem with it though. The reason I only have it an 8 is because they did their job. They made us feel hate, violence and horror more than the first game and to be honest I kinda don't wanna feel all of that. The real world is a bit like that and I'm looking for something a little light hearted now. Not saying there isn't light hearted moments in the game, there is and they're one of the best moments in the game but I wish there was more of that. Gameplay: 9/10 - the gameplay is a 100 percent improvement. Basically it's the first game's gameplay with a few tweaks to make it feel more polished and action heavy. There's a Dodge system now that although not game breaking was a good addition specially when engaging with battle with multiple people. The jump mechanic isn't that new in other games but it's certain is for the Last of Us and adds more ways to traverse yourself. There are more items to craft meaning more ways to fight and you can tell the game is more action heavy than the first. Each encounter is like a chess match and you have to careful plan out your tactics or your toast. NPC's actually do some **** now compare to the first game. Talking about the companions here. The game is more open now too and you can explore the ruins of the cities unlike the first game. In the first game you can look around a bit but comparing that to the sequel is just crazy. Of course there are risk very reward choices as exploring this world might mean encountering more problems, infected and savages to fight against but would mean extra items and even some weapons or weapon mods that you would have missed. There are also collectibles too and the card collection thing was actually better than I thought. Disappointed that you can't play with the cards thought.

    Most of the people who hate the game didn't even beat or play the game. Not saying there aren't people who doesn't like the game after playing it but most didn't. There are a lot of people saying they hate the game and won't even play it because of some scenes?? The game got review bomb after only a few hours and it's cleared that they just saw some cutscenes without context and skipped to the ending. Which is pathetic.


    Fun factory: This actually depends on the gamer but if you love the first game you should definitely give this one a try. It has different stroke for different folks ;)    … Expand

    Naughty dog outdone themselves, I loved the rawness and pure survivor feeling that naughty dog nailed with this one. The game just looks and plays amazing. And somehow you managed to make the story work which i admire you for. A must buy for sure!!!

    The Graphics are just astonishing and the Atmosphere throughout the whole game is so well made. I also really like the Fact that they haven`t played safe when it comes to the Story. All those twists and turns are really refreshing than just kinda knowing whats about to be happen.

    El juego es crudo y hay cosas que no queremos que pasen, sucesos inesperados, situaciones amargas y tristeza por doquier, pero así es la vida, tomamos malas decisiones, pasan cosas trágicas, hay tristeza, etc. Creo que el juego tiene sus pros y sus contra, pero sin duda es un juego que te hace sentir un sin fin de emociones, y más para los que lo hemos esperado desde hace más de 6 años.

    People on here moaning need to get a grip. Just because they didn't release a carbon copy of the first game is no reason to instantly bomb it. This is an amazing experience. With a brutal, terrifying and hauntingly, beautiful tale to tell and should not be missed.

At 28hrs for a first play through I think a person can easily get their’s money worth here. It’s pretty much a movie as well. Great cutscenes and lots of them.     The story is very unconventional. It offers decisions and twists never seen in a video-game before. It is very mature and controversial and I am afraid that most of the players aren't ready yet to play anything else than easy, straightforward and simple to understand games.
    Creating this game was a brave move from the developers but I think that the gaming society is not ready for it yet. I truly believe that one day it will be perceived as a milestone in the gaming industry.

    Look at the difference between Critic Reviews and User Reviews. Why is that? Game journalists are adult and mature people with years of experience with video-games. A user can be anyone for example 14 years old kid who is just not ready to process all the emotions and moral topics this game provides.

    Naughty Dog delivers another amazing title to add to their resume. I love this game! Third person action adventure at its finest! This is the most impressive, immersive and emotionally driven game I've ever had the pleasure of playing. (And replaying many times to come.)     I could not stop playing this! Without any spoilers, this game takes a different turn halfway through a turn that seemingly everyone else was not a fan of nor was I, at first anyway. Its something different and entirely unique and fits well into the first ones ending of who is bad and who is good. Dont go into the game expecting a rehash of the first game.     Loved the game. Patiently waited for 7 years and ND truly delivered. Please play the game with an open mind, don't get misguided by the truly unjustified user reviews. People don't know what a 0-3 game looks like. Even if the story is bad for some people, it deserves much higher score for everything else, the effort that developers have put in.     I finished the game on Monday morning and still can't get it out of my head. Post-game depression is real, can't even think of playing any game for a long time. They feel so "weak" compared to what ND has created. 10/10 from me.    … Expand

    This game is incredible on many many aspects. The gameplay feels so, so good. Every weapon is very satisfying to use thanks to the sound effects and the gore. The ability to dodge is a good addition. The sneaking works very well with the added ability to crawl and different ways of going through the environment. The puzzle    Note : I am not giving it a 10 to balance out the bad scores.

The puzzle phases are so much better than in the first game and more diverse with the ropes, the jumps, all the windows you can go through. The maps are much more open (at least during the first half of the game) with a lot of things you can easily miss if you go in a straight line (pretty much every weapon and upgrades can be missed). The ambient music works really well to raise the tension. The facial animations combined with the acting make every character look so real, you can read everything on their faces. The accessiblity options also are unrivaled. To sum it up, everything is really, really good and if you liked the first game I don't see how you can dislike this one based on everything I just mentioned.

    Now, for the controversial aspect, the story. It is incredible. However, the game does not go easy on you. At all. Prepare to be upset several times. That said, the hard parts are there for a reason and not for shock value. They make sense. And they make more and more sense the further you go in the story, and take into account every character's motivations. The story in itself is simple but emotionally complicated, a lot more than the first game's that is very straightforward. If you haven't read any spoiler, the better because ouf of context any story can look bad, hell the first game's story can hold on a post-it note. Around mid-game, something happens. If you can get over it and just enjoy the ride, you will love this game. The second half of the game probably is my favorite part because of the weapons you have and the environments you go through as well as the dialogs.

    I am sorry to say it, but I think that a lof of hateful reviews are left by people that are either not emotionally mature (the game is supposed to be 18+ remember ?) ,or mad that this game's story is not what they wanted, or they just decided that they hated the game before they even played it. So, go for it, make you own opinion and I think that you'll see that the game is incredible. Probably my GOTY.    … Expand

    The game makes you question yourself. People don't like that. We want a story with a happy ending. Typical Hollywood approach which built an army of consumers who remind you line of people in Starbucks. These people are not ready for tragic, dark & authentic conversation.

    TLOU shows you the nature of a human kind, it shows how ugly we are and how we're not very different from each other. Emotions often take control over rational. It's been that way, it will stay this way.

    There is nothing else to say, just play the god damn game    … Expand

    I haven’t finished the game yet but honestly I think this is just as good as the first game if not better, they already won me over with the amazing graphics as I am a picture detail fanatic, but the story is great as well adding to an already amazing looking game. The story may not be true to some people, or just the story is not the same. If to compare easily Award-winning movie Most of them may not be pleasing to the viewers but understand. I want them to end like this. It is similar to many movies as well. For example, the director of Jung Bong Junho, the end may not be as we had hoped. LaLaLand, Her. What is the delay? So it's not fun for everyone. Story >> As for GamePay, level up The thing that the game system itself used to be either uncharted or TLOU, the first part of Naughty Dog, which in the past was already cool. >> As for the beautiful graphic, it is flawless and beautiful. The ps4 jet is pretty, cute, and the Sound is very good. I especially like the guitar sound. And the music was very good.     The backlash for this game makes no sense to me. This game for me exceeds almost everything they did in the first game and stands as naughty dogs strongest title to date.

    This game is incredible. The gameplay and graphics are incredible for PS4. How this runs on the vanilla PS4 is a credit to the developers. No frame rate drops anywhere in the game. The story is dramatic, I think the story is fantastic. It is always a sore subject when a loved character dies. There are low points in the game and some high points.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
