    My feelings for the game changed several times during the passage. But somewhere in the middle of the walkthrough, I realized that what Drackmann did was brilliant. He is a genius. And the best author in the industry. I enjoyed the game. Don't be children crying for a dead hero. The author has the right to his point of view.

    ignore the trolls writing the 0-1 star reviews. Most of them outright admit they didn't even finish the game. It's criminally underrated. It's a commentary on revenge and what it does to a person.

    7 long years waiting for this game and I finished it (in survivor mode).
    What an experience.
    The graphics are just insane (played it on ps4 not pro), the lighting is just breathtaking in this game. Gameplay improved alot and is good enough but it feels kinda "old" if that makes any sense, thanks to the few new functionnalities like proning and dodging for making the game and combats    7 long years waiting for this game and I finished it (in survivor mode).
    What an experience.
    The graphics are just insane (played it on ps4 not pro), the lighting is just breathtaking in this game.

    IA are really good surprisingly, **** intelligent, flanking you all over the place, once they see someone dead they just tell everybody around them and everybody starts searching everywhere even under cars for you.
    Semi open-world game, level design is amazing.
    Biggest disappointment isn't really the story nor the writing.
    The story was good, the pacing/rythm of it felt really slow and I understand that anyone could be lost in it, chronologically it's a f*cking mess.
    All in all, love the game, isn't as good as the first game but is really good (IN MY OPINION)    … Expand

    I find the game to be great. No one expected lots of things that happen in the game. I see many complaining about the story, the gameplay to be repetitive. There are so many games that work perfectly by repeating the mechanics of each mission (Spiderman Ps4, all the assassin's Creed games, Shadow of the colossus, and many more that repeat mechanics), but for some reason everyone is unhappyI find the game to be great.     This game is a masterpiece. PERIOD. Hands down the best story experience I have ever had playing a video game. It's is not an easy experience, and it will break your heart. This is a beautiful and wholly realized vision. The characters are practically real people, as they are so well developed.     Wonderful story. Normally I skip through stories in games but found the events really compelling. Gameplay is just okay. Not sure there's much replay value, unfortunately. I'd give this game an 8/10 but giving it a 10/10 to cancel out the morons review bombing it.

The story is made to stab a knife on you, it will destroy you, you will be angry for the things that happens, but you need to understand that this is a world where these and worse things can happen, the death of Joel is the consequence of the things he did in the final part of the first game, and if you think with a cold head, you know that Abby had more than one reason to kill him, i'm not defending her, i wanted her to die too and i was angry when Ellie let her escape, but then i understood why she decided this. You may hate or love the story, but you can't deny that the rest of the game (Gameplay, Graphics, Level design, etc) are the top of the industry right now.… Expand

Whoever loved the first one for its ability to play with your emotions, will love this one too, maybe even more. It plays with your emotions as a player again... But this time 'hate' is the main theme, hate that the main character feels and is taken over by it which is correlated to your emotions and as time passes and you proceed through the story you start to have second thoughts about your feelings, as does the main character. The resolution at the end comes a few days after you finish the game and this is what's great with the story, as the first one, you can't take it out of your mind.… Expand

    A bravely told story that will not be everyone's cup of tea(Understatement) with the best graphics of this generation. Combat has been cranked up to eleven! Crafting has also seen some quality of life improvements but remains just as great as it was in the first game.
    Overall just a great experience to play.

Joel's death, is handled immensely well, it is a fitting end for a man who killed maybe hundreds of people remorselessly through his lifetime. The semi strained relationship between Ellie and Joel also feels appropriate with her knowing that he lied to her about the fireflies. It makes sense that she not trust him 100%. Graphically the game is a visual masterpiece and voice acting is top notch. Perfect 10… Expand

    This is an emotional Rollercoaster. From all the people hating on it are people that can't handle it and if people gets effected emotionally over a game. Then the studio is doing something right.     No había querido calificar el juego porque me esperaba un terrible final como la mayoría de los borreguitos andaba diciendo y oh sorpresa, el final hizo que se me enchinara la piel y hasta sentimiento me dio.. gente, no se claven con temas ni controversias, el juego es una obra maestra y ahora si que no cualquier idiota lo va a comprender.

    The story is divisive for sure but this game was not supposed to be a rehash of the first game. The first game was all about Joel opening up and learning to love again and Ellie transforming herself from an innocent kid to someone who has seen terrible stuff and grown a lot as a person. There was this great dynamic between the two and the game was rightfully praised for it.

    The second game is not a rehash of the first one, it goes in another direction, the themes are not the same. This time the game addresses how far people can go for the people they love in the context of a terrible pandemic that has destroyed the world. It's also about how society re-organizes itself after having crumbled and what can happen to people when they are desperate to find a meaning to their lives and they live in lawlessness. It's very powerful and I love that Naughty Dog took the risk of changing the story's themes like this. You're supposed to be really mad about what happens at the beginning of the game because it's something that could totally happen in the context of the game, it makes sense because that character has a shady past and is capable of doing terrible things so what happens to that person could very well happen in this broken world where everyone is on edge. In the end I think it was worth it in order to explore how terrible the human nature is. Not every game can be happy-go-lucky and "save the princess" games. The game also tries to challenge your pre-conceptions about the « heroes » of the first game by showing both sides of the story. I find it fascinating and the new characters are well written.

    The graphics are the best I have even seen in a game. The game is fluid, the combat is great. I love how you have to adapt your tactics all the time depending on whether you fight against humans, infected or both. It's fun to make noise to set the infected on your human enemies and let them fight between themselves and just swoop in and take the last ones remaining. The progression system for weapons and Ellie's abilities is well done and the weapons at your disposal are nice for varied tactics. The level design is great and the exploration is top notch. With so many beautiful maps to explore, I just can't get enough. The sound design is awesome, especially in dark narrow areas with infected and spores, it gives the game an atmosphere that is unique and unmatched in triple A gaming. Of course the music is very beautiful and will hit you directly in the feels several times.

    Overall, I think this game is my favorite of the PS4 along with Uncharted 4. I love how Naughty Dog refined their gameplay, added new features and took big risks with the story. I respect them for that, they didn't simply rehash the first game to please people. Concerning all the progressive stuff that Naughty Dog included in this game (Ellie's sexuality and having strong female characters), I can only respect them for not shying away from making statements on how we should all be more open-minded and respectful of other people's differences. The game is supposed to take place in 2038. The idea that societies would reverse course in terms of open mindedness after a pandemic and would become more ignorant and hateful towards non-heterosexual people is very interesting and frightening. Not many game developers would have dared to do explore this theme. Thank you Naughty Dog.    … Expand

    It was brutal, the start was by far the darkest in a game i've played, and that was refreshing. You are all haters if you hated this game, get over your egotistical misogynistic attitudes. This game delivered.

    Don't lissen to the infantil haters and review bomber. Obvisouly it's not a fairy tale, and i feel sorry about some characters. But this game is f*king awesome. Recalled the best moments of Game of Thrones and The walking dead. But still The Last of Us.

It plays great on the PS4 Pro, I did notice some slight drops in FPS when a lot of water was present but aside from that the game is flawless and the HDR implementation is very impressive if you can take advantage of it.

    I feel this sets the benchmark extremely high for all other single-player narratives. I don't want to give anything away but the complexity of the story is excellent and keeps you wanting to play on and on to reach the next piece of the puzzle, with numerous flashbacks, and intertwining plotlines adding something very special not found in many other games, it kept me guessing and I found it very hard to put down, a few enjoyable late nights were had getting fully immersed in this post-apocalyptic world.

    I was a huge fan of the first game and feel that this sequel did it justice. I'm not so shocked that people review bombed the game, because I know that with controversial decisions there will always be a mixed bag of emotions and opinions but all that aside, I would highly recommend this game. Please don't pass up on a very rewarding experience, keep an open mind, and just enjoy the ride - thank me later.    … Expand

The game doesn't emphasize wokeness, this becomes clearer and clearer in the last act. The story is at the center and it is not spoonfed to you, you have to feel hate, apathy, denial and all these emotions before you can overcome it. YouPeople that are hating on this game haven't played it through. The story is about overcoming tremendous hate, and that is not a short not pleasant path.     Naughty Dog doesn't owe anyone a story that's expected. They took a bold direction that mirrors a huge issue happening in America right now, hate, division, and a lack of empathy for the other side. Without experience, divisiveness is easy. There is no light without darkness though. Just because the writing goes in a different direction than expected, does not mean it isn't great. Some of the best dialogue in any video game ever can be found here. The writing and acting is incredibly nuanced. There is subtlety and depth that you can't find in other games to this level of professionalism. The themes are dark, but there are beautiful glimpses of hope, joy, and perseverance.

    Even if for some reason you just can't stomach the story, there is no denying that the gameplay and the graphics are amazing. I have a fairly high end PC , and no game touches these graphics even on the relatively weak ps4 pro. RDR2 comes very close, but this has set the standard. There is a level of photo realism that blew me away. At 30fps I never noticed. Naughty Dog are wizards at optimization. Movement is weighted in realism, yet buttery smooth. Zero bugs on my playthrough.

    The level design is top tier. The environments create an immersive experience that is hard to match without VR. Stealth creates tension, and when all hell breaks loose, the chaos of running through fixed yet open areas creates a uniqueness to everyone's playthrough. The survival element is visceral.

    Masterpiece. I disagree with all the “this story stinks” i was engages the entire time. I’m not gonna post spoilers but i loved playing as Abby. It shows the”bad guys” do what they do for a reason. And in her eyes Joel and Ellie were the “bag guys” it’s a cool angel that humanizes the people your fighting and makes u see why the are how they are. I highly highly recommend it.

    Naugthy dog did not disappoint. Part 2 feels like a large extension of part 1. This game should be played with as little previous knowledge as possible. Sit back and enjoy the story unfold before you. This is one of the best storytelling games produced so far. I hope that everyone involved at Naugthy dog can take a well deserved vacation now that the game finally released.

    TLoU is one of my all-time favorite games, and 2 had a lot to live up and delivered in stride. An absolute incredible experience crafted with the utmost care. 10 out of 10 will play again. Thank you Naughty Dog!

    Just finished it and this is first metacritic game review in my life. I understand why people are mad, but to me, this was one of the best game experience in my life. Could be only me, but I thought it was better than the first one. However, I have to admit that it was emotionally very challenging to play this game through.

    Due to the gameplay, for about 80% of the game it felt like a solid 8, 8.5, but the final stretch was just devastating, surely a game i won't ever forget. This not only expands on the legacy of the first game, but sets a new standard for the series, and for video game storytelling and acting in general.

    PS. All you whiny kids who didnt play the game, or cant handle the fact gender issues are a fact of life, or feel entitled to have your perspective on these characters persist in your fantasies, go write fan fiction, and not metacritic reviews. Of go play CoD and just give up on growing up. Anyone giving this game less than a 7 is acting in bad faith - the game is bugless, the gameplay is at the very least enjoyable, the acting is top-notch and the writing is phenomenal (NO EXPOSITION PEOPLE, OMG)    … Expand

    Everything else - animations, motion capture, the actor's performance - top notch. For the technical reasons alone it's just laughable to give this game any score lower than a 5 or 6 - the amount of details they've put into the game is just outstanding.

    There were little problems with the pacing, especially in the second half - but all the positives outweighs these little problems clearly.

    You know a game is good when it comes to the end and you end up completly speechless and with your heart racing. What a piece of art. The rollercoaster of feelings you get throughout the game is lifechanging. Will definitely carry this game in my heart forever.

    This sequel to the beloved The Last of Us doesn't take the story in the direction some fans wanted, but the narrative it does craft is one of genuine quality. I honestly loved it - it can be depressing and bleak, but moments of humanity really shine through. Flashback scenes punctuate the emotional revenge narrative and further develop Ellie and Joel's relationship. Halfway through the game you switch from playing as Ellie to playing as Joel's killer, Abby. Seeing things from Abby's point of view makes for a much more complete story.

    I enjoyed the gameplay, which involves stealth, shooting, melee combat, some light puzzle solving and plenty of scavenging. The combat is brutal, bloody and visceral. The infected are effective in instilling an atmosphere of dread and horror, both visually and in terms of their sound design. On the whole The Last of Us Part II plays better than its predecessor. It's more fun and more frightening.

    The graphics are stunning and the game runs at a lovely smooth 60fps on PS5. This is one of the best looking games available right now.

    The soundtrack is top notch and I loved the guitar performances by Joel and Ellie also - Ellie's cover of Take on Me was a highlight.

    I loved The Last of Us Part II. I thought it was a fantastic, intense experience and I couldn't put it down until it was over. The ending was brilliant - the final duel between Ellie and the dishevelled Abby was harrowing, and that last flashback scene depicting Ellie and Joel's last conversation was so touching... Gameplay-wise, this is the "The Last of Us" meets "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy" with even more variety of the infected. It's a huge game and very impressive although some would call it more-of-the-same. But as much of a threat as the "zombies" are, they're nothing but a backdrop to the human misery. This game is more about the result of cold-blooded revenge than anything else. It has the darkness of the Negan storyline from The Walking Dead and the coldness of a Cormac McCarthy novel. There are some small changes that I would make to the story as well just to help with pacing and unity but even these are minor.

    I did not see any of the negative reactions until after I had finished the game and I am so grateful I stayed away because much of the criticism seems in really bad faith to me. I think that there absolutely can be plenty of good conversations about what this game did well and where it fell short but unfortunately any discussion of this game is hijacked by bad actors and bandwagon haters.

    My recommendation is that you play the game for yourself, ignore anything anyone else says, including me and make up your own opinion.    … Expand

    И у неё это получается. Мне сложно на данный момент писать этот текст. Ведь я только что ощутил то что описать не могу (но стараюсь)
    Еще раз повторю, таких эмоциональных скачков я ещё не испытывал, и поэтому мне сложно об этом писать.
    Naughty Dog, вы смогли мне дать то чего я не ощущал никогда. Это великолепно.

    Естественно у игры есть минусы, но на фоне того что я испытал. Это просто иголка в стоге сена размером с огромный город.
    Из минусов хочется выделить слишком продолжительную ВТОРУЮ часть игры (кто прошёл, тот поймёт о чем я) Но! Когда ты уже в середине ВТОРОЙ половины игры, ты начинаешь понимать зачем это было сделано. И из минуса это потихонечку переходит в огромный плюс. Без этой ветки сюжетной, я бы не получил такие эмоции.
    Я морально убит... Плохо это или хорошо судить вам, а лично я думаю если произведение искусства (а именно этим я считаю игру) смогло тебя взять за живое,то это просто... Без слов... Шедевр.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
