    Doesn’t matter what the haters say. For me, this was an incredible journey, story, and experience. Ashley Johnson and Laura Bailey gave amazing performances. Endure and survive.

    Although I understand why people are not happy with TLOU 2, it still does not deserve a 0 or 1. The graphics are truly marvelous. The attention to detail is borderline obsessive compulsive. It definitely pushes your PS4 to its graphical limits. This is no easy feat and I commend the designers and developers for this. Let's move on to the gameplay. Well yes, it's very much the same as TLOUAlthough I understand why people are not happy with TLOU 2, it still does not deserve a 0 or 1. The graphics are truly marvelous. To me, TLOU series was never about the gameplay, Naughty Dog's primary focus was the story and that's where they banked on. And banked on indeed! Fans are split. Yes the story leaves a bitter, burning acidic taste in your mouth from the get go. The story is dark, gritty and leaves you empty but that's exactly what makes it a brilliant game. Character development was nicely paced and needed. Acting chops of of each character in the game was top notch. The emotional impact that TLOU 2 rivals that of a finely crafted drama movie. No other game has made me feel that way. Overall, TLOU 2 was an incredible, breathtaking ride. Can't wait for the HBO series!… Expand

Gameplay is superb, storyline is really nice (a few minor problems, but show me the one franchise in all entertainment industry that doesn't have). Once again I was alternating moments of sheer tense and terror and relief and sometimes anger, and this is all this series is about.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a fan of TLOU1 I came into this game apprehensive. I stayed away from leaks and spoilers but I had a feeling that something big was going to happen. And BAM it did, death of a main character from the first game, it shoot me. The idea of a revenge story was interesting to me. It was mentally painful at times to play, to deal with my grief and the grief of the characters in game but I stuck it out and became fascinated by the story and the characters. Ellie and Dina have amazing chemistry and their love shows throughout. But Ellie's need for revenge outweighs everything else to the point of obsession. It's pretty brutal.

    There is a point where the game switches gears and you all of a sudden play as the character that killed the main protagonist from the first game and for me I was SO MAD at that.. for about 30 minutes. Then when my anger waned and I was able to get back to the game I started to enjoy playing as her and as her history and motives are shown I started to grow to care for her as well.

    You think the game is ending but it isn't there's actually a few more hours and then the real end is really emotionally heavy. I left the game unhappy, not with the game just with everything, I was emotionally exhausted. It took me a day to really work through my feelings and then I understood how amazing the game was. No other game has ever made me actually think about consequences for actions and the emotional toll of doing things like this game did. It isn't something I would play to be happy but it's something I will play again just to get that feeling back, to understand each character further, to enjoy a piece of media that makes me FEEL something viscerally.

    Mechanically, the gameplay is a huge step up from the first game, the movement is fluid, you can now prone, and the dodge is fantastic. the crafting goes further and you have many more skills you can access in your skill trees. Even if you didn't like the story I can't see how you could give this game a lesser rating, just based off of how smooth the gameplay is.    … Expand

    People who rated this game as bad probably were expecting a fairy tale, where Joel would be treated as the hero. We all know he was not, and If this story ocurred um real life, probably the same would happen. By the end of the game I was as attached to Abby as I was to Joel.     The best game of 2020 until someone proves otherwise. Technical elements of gameplay never seen in any other game. An exemplary level of polishing. An absolutely mature and bold outcome, a huge reflection on the human being. Strong and intense story. A game about people, about human behavior. Sensitive and brutal. Inviting and challenging. The industry needs games with this level of excellence.

    The graphics are amazing, the colors, the characters expressions and body acting was captured with perfection!
    The final confrontation between Abby and Ellie, the way they moved, their eyes, the expression in them was breath taking, heart breaking!!!!

    The jogability and usability of the controls and game, visual and sound options are truly amazing.

    The voice acting is absolute perfection.

    The story brakes my heart, but also brought me so much joy and the end, it leaves the door open for a Part 3, and I really hope ND does it too.

    It is a game with a dark story, an adult/mature one that will not endear itself to everyone.

    The basic idea of the story is simple: When Seeking Revenge, you should dig 2 graves and Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here (referring to the path of Revenge)

    It is a story of revenge, fury but also of hope, love, forgiveness and redemption.

    I loved that ND uses Abby's story to bring the Story of the Last of Us full cycle and to trace a parallel with Ellie's and Joel's. Joel's redemption and Ellie's fall from grace.

    As Joel found his redemption taking care and, after, caring for Ellie like a daughter, so does Abby with Lev and Yara, before both Joel and Abby were not the best of people, far from it but in caring for a kid made them slowly change and "start seeking the light again", to try and become a better person.

    In Joel's case that meant, sadly, having to kill the Fireflies in their main base in order to be able to save Ellie's life.

    In Abby's case that meant, sadly after she killed Joel, she had to be saved from the Scars by 2 kids in order to care for their well being, something that later, took her to do unimaginable things before to get the necessary medic kit so Yara could live.

    And what an amazing road she took...the Ground Zero chapter's infected she had to fight was one of the most amazing things in games I ever saw.

    Ellie's road on the other hand was so heartbreaking because we know her, we know her and Joel from the Last of Us, their rode, their pain, their bound with each other was our bond to them in the first game, we share her grief and hope to get back at Abby's group.

    But ND made us see and share on Abby's story too, and her friends, at the end we also see them for the flawed people they are, with good and bad, and feel sad that the path to revenge takes everything good from Ellie, we see the trauma she feels, the price she pays after killing everyone of them, Ellie's show when she discovered that she killed a pregnant woman, and the price she pays again after Tommy guilt trip her to go after Abby again, but at last, right at the last moment.

    I am glad that she could find a way to try, just maybe, one day, forgive Abby, and see that she is not so different from Joel at that moment, and as she said to Joel that she would like to try to forgive him for not letting the Fireflies sacrifice her life in search of a cure, that maybe someday she would like to try and forgive Abby to, if nothing else because Allie herself would not be able to live with herself after killing so many, and that killing Abby would not fix anything, just make everything more miserable.

    I cried so much during this game, and felt joy, and hope and got crushed.... at the epilogue, I really hope Ellie goes back to Jackson and live her life, maybe find the strength to let go of so much hate.

    I cried even more when Ellie tried to play the guitar....even that was taken from her...

    In the universe of The Last of Us, as with our own, we can only totally separate "bad guys" from "good guys" a handful of times like the Rattlers gang at the end, a group of evil people that decided to enslave others for personal gain and survival instead of trying to create a community like Jackson (for example) or even the WLF and "Scars", both terribly flawed (and even evil sometimes) groups but not without their good side.

    Overall, an awesome game. I love it to bits and will play it again on NG+    … Expand

The graphics, story, dialogue, music and gameplay are exceptional and improve on what was excellence in the first game. The characters communicate throughout giving a better sense of who they are and where they've come from. Anybody who played the first and enjoyed it surely will love this game...of course that's said if your manhood isn't affected by the lesbian presence which is not at all shoved down the players throat as I've read in some of these small people's reviews. A narrow mind is laughable and also explains why many on here are lonely and probably miserable. I'm stunned in 2020 that you all made this "political", but I'm not surprised. Anyway... this game is phenomenal and to buy into a snowflake narrative would be your loss if these opinions do in fact dissuade you from purchasing this game. Character development is top notch..and humanity is on display moreso than part 1. The story can be ugly, but aren't we. It is what people are and if you can't handle the brutality and emotion its not a title for you. The environments are steps above the original and the music sets the tone. Reactions in characters us the best gaming has to offer...as is the dialogue which is to say well written. Only 9 hours in and yeah, this is your game of the year. Thanks again Naughty Dog fir attention to detail in the form of broken glass crunching under Ellie's feet and setting the atmosphere with the proper gloom. I'm 100% satisfied. The characters and world are as detailed as ever and making loving or hating them feel so impactful. I was almost certain the game would start with Joel being killed, considering who he was and the consequences of the choices he made in the first game, and through his 20 years of survival. His death was harsh and sudden, fitting the bleak grounded tone of the previous game, and the lifestyle he thought he might outrun. It portrays his acceptance of the consequence well, showing the final piece of his arch that he knew he was getting what he deserved. So it was tough, but set the rest of the game in motion. Ellie's fall from grace is a hot topic of debate but it makes sense to me. She was always troubled by survival, and needing meaning in her immunity. Chasing Joel's killer, as well as the relationships strained along the way, was a strong story of coming to terms with being a villian, just as the fjrst game was. I think people forgot at the end of the day she's been with Joel, a true villian, for a while mow, and they shouldn't have been surprised she took on his world view. Regardless, the writing is great, the acting even greater, and the graphics prove ND still knows to inch every ounce of horsepower out of this gens PS. It's a hell of a ride, but one worth taking. It'll hurt, its not always perfect, but its so damn good.… Expand

    Naughty Dog could not have made the end of the first game more meaningful than they did in part 2. Joel and Ellie aren't some heroes from a comic destined to have great adventures for eternity and live to tell the tale. It's a rough world in which Joel did some horrible stuff and that just caught up to him. Of course everyone has a right to their opinion but I dont get how one could love the first game for what it was and proceed to **** all over part 2 because Joel is killed in a meaningful way. If you really loved Joel so much you should feel like Ellie and be extremely motivated to actually play the game instead of just the first 2 hours. then there's the SJW bull**** that I can understand even less. Ellie has been a confirmed lesbian since Left Behind and shouldn't be a big deal at all. Ih yeah and then there are some Asian characters one of which happened to be trans, you know, like how some people are in the real world. It ties into the story too, in a believable way. The game doesn't make a big deal of it, though, nothing is forced down your throat, it's just there. And although those things being there dont have to be political at all if you choose to not look at it that way but just take it as character trades, what the inclusion of those characters does show us how much bigoted closed minded people there are, who get so angry from a lesbian and a trans character that they feel the need to rate this game a 0 one hour after its release and proceed to spend hours ****ting on the game on social media and send threats to the developers. That last sentence applies to the 'can't get over Joel being killed' people aswell but at least they are not necessarily a bunch of homophobic **** but just can't grasp how amazingly well written the plot of Part 2 is. So long story short; I dont understand the hate this game gets at all. I get that this story might not be for everyone since it's dark and sad and unapologetic but at least go in with an open mind and actually play it. Just play it. Its such a damn good game from exceptional storytelling to stunning environments, ridiculously good graphics, beautiful soundtrack and overall audio, so many little details and great combat that has some improvements since the original Last of Us (though mostly the same but that's not necessarily bad).
    Downside is that the game is so realistic and soaks you into this post apocalyptic world so much that some encounters with infected almost made me crap my pants and made my heart almost explode with fear and adrenaline, especially with bloaters, shamblers and whatever the **** that thing in the hospital was.

    Masterful storytelling and gameplay, I personally cried 4 times during the campaign. I truly believe is a game that everyone should (with an open mind) play. Let’s all hope the vicious cycle of hatred stops one day.

    Other reviewers have pointed out that the characters and or story are badly written and would rate the game on that criticism alone a 0 or 1. I'm on the other end of the spectrum. I think the characters were completely believable in their actions and I think more than enough time was spend on showing where their motivation comes from.

    Even if you disagree with me on this after you complete the game, that's okay, this game is still a technical master piece. From the graphics, amazing animations and facial expressions, the controls and combat, no other game before has executed this level of excellence before in my humble opinion (the last game to make me feel that was Red Dead Redemption 2).

    The atmosphere this game manages to bring on screen which supported by incredible sound design and voice acting is nothing short of amazing.

    Playing this game gave me an intense feeling of dread, hope, anger, joy and peace.

    it's a gruesome and down to earth experience, unpredictable from beginning to end, and i'd recommend it to anyone who can stomach a reality check or ten. The gameplay is spectacular and probably the most detailed game in the entire market. Hoping for more in the future.

    I'm not gonna go through too much detail to avoid spoiling anything. the game carries most of functionalities from TLOU1 and has many new ones. graphic wise it's as beautiful as it gets. the main problem that I had with the game was the character movement, which I got used to and I think I could easily ignore that in my rating. I love the fact that the story was an emotional roller coaster. I strongly believe that it's not everyone's cup of tea but if you are angry because of the story line and gave it a low score just think about the fact that game did what it supposed to do artistically.    … Expand

    It's a shame hackers leaked the story. I went in blind and completely loved it... one of the best games I've played this year and even better than the first.

    There are sections which felt straight up like they came out of a horror film... it was intense.     It felt like they mixed uncharted 4 with the last of us part 1. There are some great action setpieces which really helps break up the pace. There are parts where I felt like I was spending too much time stealthily taking down enemies and scavenging for supplies but before long I was outrunning clickers and or watching a cutscene.
    Loading times are quite short, there was hardly any pop in or framerate issues. The game ran really smoothly.
    The sound design in this game is from another world... it's unreal... sometimes I shot an enemy and they'd lie there screaming for help. Or I might cut someone's throat and then i'd hear them choking on their own blood... it was horrible but really helped create the sense that this world is brutal.

    Brutal is a word which defines this game. Some parts were hard to play through. I found myself shouting at my tv towards the end. Overall it's just an unforgettable experience and one which you shouldn't miss out on.

    also I hope metacritic goes through and trims out some of these troll reviews. Right now the user score is way too low. The game has been out for like four days and according to psn only 7.7% of players have finished it so many people here (many of them on the very day the game released) have given it a zero. I imagine a lot of this is down to bots as well. Just play the game yourself and you'll see it's something special :).    … Expand

    What game were they playing? This is nothing short of a masterpiece. If you played the first game and fell in love with the characters then you will find no shortage of tear jerker moments. The action is great, the characters as strong as ever and the story is engaging as hell. Screw your 4 star ratings. Actually play the damn thing and stop being biased.

    Everything is incredible for me: the graphics, the sound/soundtrack, the stealth and action game play, the mix of intense and laid back moments, the characters (other than Manny), the smallest details, and most of all the story. I really didn't think TLOU needed a sequel but somehow it told a story that left even more of an emotional impact than the 1st. I've never cried multiple times inEverything is incredible for me: the graphics, the sound/soundtrack, the stealth and action game play, the mix of intense and laid back moments, the characters (other than Manny), the smallest details, and most of all the story.     The plot of Tlou 2 is very mature which requires a lot of patience and understanding and I think that is why the rating is like that.

    I think that I've never experienced emotions as I experienced with this game, this game made me express every kind of emotion there is but Anger and sadness was the main emotions for me

    The mechanics were amazing, the sneaking and the mele combat absolutely crazy.

    There is no need to talk about the visuals who was outstanding.

    As a con, I would say that the game was a little bit to long and quite frustrating during the end, could end 2-3 hours before the actual ending.

    But with that said it is still a masterpiece, and I'm very glad I had the chance to play it, great job Naughty Dog for this Piece of art , can't wait to play your next game.    … Expand

The immense quality of animation and the most dynamic range of graphics the PS4 can offer. The story, although sometimes fatigue inducing over a 25-30 hour experience focused on plot, the narrative still for me is an overwhelmingly great feat. The cast all round do a great job of humanising their actions and making you torn between loving and hating them. Stand out characters would be Shannon Woodward's 'Dina', Ian Alexander's 'Lev' and of course Ashley Johnson as Ellie, Troy Baker as Joel and Laura Bailey as Abby in the lead roles. This game shouldn't be missed regardless of what you think you might know, you won't know till you see it for yourself.… Expand

The game is loaded with some raw and gut wrenching action. I often found myself yelling at the screen during some unbelievable jaw dropping moments.     Me gustó muchísimo y actualmente es uno de mis favoritos, hacia tiempo que un juego no me trasmitía tanto al jugarlo y que al terminarlo me dejará una sensación de vacío enorme.
    Aparte de la narrativa, la jugabilidad, físicas y música son increíbles. Es uno de los mejores juegos de la generación, un broche de oro para terminar de cerrar la generación de ps4.
    Lo recomiendo mucho.

    O jogo não peca em questão de gráficos e jogabilidade que é parecida com o primeiro com novas adições. A história tem uma grande base nos sentimentos humanos e em como uma história pode ter 2 lados diferentes, fazendo não haver heróis ou vilões no mundo de TLoU e com um ótimo desenvolvimento dos personagens. Este Juego, este juego que muchos no les agradará ya que su temática es trágica, una historia donde no se disfruta sino es más como una experiencia, se sienten tan humanos los personajes, todos los protagonistas y personajes secundarios son hermosos, tanto Ellie como Abby son personajes muy humanos, y a mi parecer Abby es una buena personaje, Naughty Dog fue valiente al querer hacer un juego muy adelantado para su época, estamos en una época donde los finales son felices, pero a mi parecer si fue bueno el final, en ver que La Venganza no te ayuda a sanar, donde La Muerte de Joel tuvo un gran peso en Ellie y tuvo consecuencia para Abby, y esto es muy pesado para ambas ya que si Abby nunca hubiese matado a Joel no estaría sola, no estaría secuestrada por las Víboras, y ella regresaría con las luciérnagas, o por lo menos hubiese tenido más chance de regresar… Expand

Remember this because it is the whole theme of Abbys story. Later on in the game we find out that the nightmares are cause by abby finding her dad dead on the floor. Abby is having these nightmares because she blames herself for her fathers death which is why she kills Joel. However, after she kills Joel, she still doesn't fins the inner piece she wanted, she still has nightmares about her fathers death. This is until we are introduced to yard and lev. After abby saves yara and lev, she finally gets to wake up from having a peaceful dream. She managed to find inner piece by helping 2 children. She saw hope in lev (remind you of joel). I'll talk about Ellie now because she is basically going through the same journey as abby. She is trying to find inner piece with herself because she blames herself for Joel's death. However, we see that Ellie is constantly questioning her actions throughout the game. She wants to find inner piece with herself and she thinks that killing abby will do that. However at the end of the game ellie spares abby. Why? Because all throughout the game, ellie keeps having these flashbacks to seeing Joel's dead body and the floor. She thinks that killing abby will make her find piece within herself. However, as soon as abby is about to be drowned to death by ellie, ellie stops herself from killing abby because she no longer has the flashback of joels dead body on the floor. Instead, she sees her and joels final conversation and how she really wants to find peace with Joel and forgive him. Which is the whole message of the game, finding forgiveness and pushing how far you have to go to get there. The game is a complex masterpiece. People are just blinded by their hatred towards abby.… Expand

    Don’t pay attention to the review bombing, this game is actually a gem. Epic storytelling and gameplay, one of the best ps4 games

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Although i dislike the ending the game and its main characters is still incredible, graphically it is the best game i have seen on the PS4, and gameplay wise it is one of the more innovative games, the concept art and the game itself are beautiful while there are also so many memorable missions like Ellie's birthday and Eugenes basement. No matter what anyone says i love this game and i will share it with everyone i can.… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
