    The game is simply amazing, the story is good, and the characters make you sympathize with them even after the events that unfold in the start of the game

    Love playing this as much as the first. The leaks/theories were only half correct (thank God), so don’t worry. This game gets your adrenaline going as well as keeps you on your toes. The game-play is long enough where you definitely feel as though ya got your money's worth. Great graphics, great sound, great game-play mechanics, intuitive controls and story.     - Gameplay loop (scrounge for supplies, craft/upgrade, stealth, combat, repeat) is deep and satisfying
    - Control and animation are perfect. Responsive, believable, fluid
    - Combat and stealth approach MGS3 levels of openness.
    - Crafting, weapon, and character upgrades constantly create tough decisions (on Hard difficulty)
    - Lengthy campaign with no filler
    - Transitions in and out of gameplay are beyond seamless. Past Naughty Dog games have excelled at this, but LoU Part II blows even them out of the water. This feels like a landmark for interactive content for the game direction alone.
    - Environments are varied and memorable, though some interiors begin to look familiar (lots of pipes and industrial rooms)
    - Set pieces are thrilling, particularly due to the direction

    Story
    - Hinging the story around Joel’s decision at the end of Part I adds weight to everything in both games
    - In parts it truly feels like a continuation of the first game, not just a sequel
    - Flashbacks of Joel and Ellie’s relationship, particularly the birthday museum visit, are a highlight of the whole series.
    - Most new characters (Dina, Jesse, and Owen in particular) are likable and believable

    I love this game as much as the first. It took me close to 25 hours to finish it, its a real rollercoaster of emotions that adds to the experience. The player is not asked to sympathize with every decision in the game and that makes it special to me. I try to understand the hate, but i dont. Abby looks like a female crossfit-athlete, if you cant see pass that then what can I tell you.I love this game as much as the first.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Absolutely fantastic continuation of the series. It’s a sad sight to see all the fake user review scores from people who clearly haven’t even played the game themselves.

    This builds on everything that made the first game great in almost every way. Every gameplay mechanic has been enhanced, with some great additions to the core gameplay mechanics, with more options for stealth, weapon upgrades, new craftables etc.

    During the 2nd part of the game my mind had 100% hatred for Abby, I kept telling myself there was no way I could ever like her, well I was wrong, as by the end, her character just made sense, the reasons and motivations for doing what she did, and her chance to redeem herself was very well played out. END SPOILERS - At the end scene it could have gone either way, but I was actually somewhat happy it ended the way it did. Going the other direction would have just sparked another revenge story. I think they made the right call with the ending decision.    … Expand

    The game is absolutely incredible, I liked every aspect of it. The problem with reviews is that people expected that Naughty dog would surprise them with brand new story but it is has “part two“ in its title, some parts of the story are obvious as the game continues the story of the first part. I would recommend this game to people who wants an interesting story and good gameplay. IThe game is absolutely incredible, I liked every aspect of it.     Great game. Don’t listen to the Haters. I replayed the first one just a couple weeks ago. Everything is better about this sequel game other than aguably the story, and it’s not worse either... it was just already great, and this just feels like a continuation of that.

The story in my opinion worked for the most part, as i grew to like some of the newer characters like Abby, their stories and their actions. It was both emotionally and impactful and the end left me absolutely stubborn. I loved it. Not only does the game look and sound incredible, but i am so blown away for what Naughty Dog has brought to table. This is a game that has to be experienced before it can be judged.

    This game is one of the many masterpieces Naughty Dog has brought us but it can easily be the best. It's inclusive, has a marvelous and emotional story, gameplay is super fun and complex, looks photorealistic and has an amazing soundtrack that deserves an award all by itself . Game of the Year without any doubt.

    I'm gonna say it. The Last of Us Part II is the best game I have ever played.     I looked up the spoilers after I finished, and wow. I totally understand the reaction now. Without context, those spoilers are absolutely killer, and I feel bad for anybody who came across them. To those, I will say go in with an open mind. I know some may not be able to get past them, but really do try. There are also a lot of rumours that are quite simply untrue.     As someone who actually played and completed the game, this is truly a dark gruesome realistic portrayal of what would happen during an global disaster.

    During the game its clear objective was to show character faults and growth collimating in a compelling story. It just saddens me to see people review it poorly maybe because of LGBTQ elements, Story Designs or gritty violence.     This game is really not for everyone, it highlights everything that makes a game good and turns it not only into gameplay but also into a unique experience in life. Whoever played the first game has an obligation to play, even with a few questionable events the game remains a masterpiece.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have to give this game a 10/10 review, due to there are so many unreasonable negative reviews, and this game completes the whole story.

    First, the story is good, and it does not deserve like 3, 2 or even 0 of 10. I know some of the elements in this game might anger many people, such as SJW and multi-cultural as well. However, you can say you hate these elements, but you cannot destroy the game via some unreasonable and unreal reviews. I might only give it an 8 or 9 before I saw the whole internet is like bullying the creator and the team of this game. I really hate this phenomenon, like I am living in some kind of censorship country.

    Second, there is a reason it calls part 2 instead of the last of us 2. In my opinion, the last of us part 2 complete and extend the whole story behind the previous game in 2013. There must be a consequence when you against the world benefit to save personal interest, and the result is not just the dead of Joel. It is the struggle between Ellie and Abby. Obviously. Abby is a nice and ordinary girl who just wants to revenge her father's death, and she let Ellie, with killing intension, go twice. Does Ellie know it? Yes, she knows why Abby killed Joel, she knows Abby only goes to Joel, and She knows Abby let her go twice and did not kill Dina. This is the reason why Ellie's last trip is so unstable and with so many unsure. And it turns out, Ellie let Abby go when she can kill her. Because she found that what she wants is not Abby's death, it is not revenge. She just wants peace and the get rip of the moment of Joel's death. She is not sure that killing Abby can give her peace or not, so she does what Abby has done to her...let her go and never come back. There are so many things in this story...     I'll tell you why by looking at the complaints haters have.

    1. Joel's death What they say :- poorly dealt Fact:- he dies in the hands of the person he just saves by getting his leg shot with a shotgun and beaten to death with a golf stick. That is painful psychologically and physically. People wanted a predictable lame death of Joel??

    2. Abby getting to live in the end
    What they say:- it sucks to see Ellie not getting her revenge
    Fact:- Ellie got her revenge. Abby was able to kill Joel because her group outnumbered Joel and Tommy. Ellie kills her group therefore killing the indirect reason that helped Abby kill joel. And Ellie killed the Abby that killed Joel by making Abby realise that revenge only got innocent people killed.

    3. Structure and pacing
    What people say:- the game is slow and boring

    (Not exactly fluent in English, sorry for any mistakes)

    Yes, it is a sad story and not for everyone's tastes. It's not pleasant like the first one. But that doesn't mean it's bad. I believe it's actually one of the most well written videogame's plots, not worried about conventional cliches and comfortable endings. It is bold to write such a thing aware that it will not be enjoyable for people. And maybe that wasn't the right thing to do considering that the purpose of games is entertainment, but it is a good story, with a deep meaning that makes you think about the complexity of moral and human emotions, and that stays in your head for a long time.

    (SPOILERS AHEAD)

    First of all, of course it's heartbreaking to watch Joel die in such a brutal way. He captivated us in a way that made us comprehend why he killed innocent people and took away the chance of a cure for humanity just to save Ellie. He had a heart and couldn't stand losing another daughter, the only thing he had left. It was selfish, but we sympathized.
    Abby didn't know Joel. The only thing she knew was that he murdered her father. And came after him for the exact same reason Ellie did the same with her. And at the very end, after losing all of her friends and her group, she attached to Lev and realized it wasn't worth it to keep seeking for revenge.
    Ellie couldn't get over it. She still saw Joel everytime she closed her eyes. The only way to get peace was to go after Abby. And in the final moment, she remembers of the last conversation she had with Joel. About wanting to forgive him. And that's what she did. It was the only way she would actually feel peace.
    "So she did all of this for nothing?" killing Abby would also be for nothing. Joel wouldn't come back. She wouldn't undo anything. She'd just probably kill Lev as well, leaving him alone in those conditions. There's no downside in letting Abby live. It's in that moment that under all of her guilt, rage and sadness, we get to see the little girl again. We get to see Ellie's essence.

    And even though it feels like she lost everything for nothing, it was the only way she knew at the moment to deal with all those feelings. It was only when she was completely alone that she realized all of this was meaningless, and there was no way she'd realize that before. It's just how humans work.

    "So why does she have to end alone?" she doesn't have to. It's just how the story goes. It's the sad story of where revenge took a girl. It doesn't have to be compensating. And again, obviously not everyone will like it. But you can't say it's bad.    … Expand

So l saw the leaks and for me the game was ruined and hated Neil druckmaan but once it came out my friends were saying it was a good game so l decided to try it for myself and l gotta say l wasn't disappointed, the games was full of anxitey moments and you didn't know what was gonna happen like the scene where Ellie gets ambushed in the theater but there was some bad writing mainly which is Joel's death
    I feel like that coulve been done better like him sacrificing himself for Ellie that would've been more emotional
    And as for the ending, it was depressing and unexpected and hitting you in many ways
    The graphics are the best same for the lighting and the blood and gore

The wind is howling and the the bleak sun light is touches through the window. This is how I feel playing the game. Despite some of the most adrenaline inducing combat scenes you encounter. This game still has a soul. And it invites player for a journey. A journey of your soul. Deep in to your mind, your past and future. Without going in too much detail. This game during the all playtime will change gears. And you have to uube prepared. Some motivations of different characters, story bits, even gameplay sections you may not like.     The people rating this game so low have clearly never even played it. After 30+ hours and the story completed, I can safely say this is one of the greatest games I’ve ever played and easily amongst the best on this generation of console.

    Most visually striking game outside PC. Combat is better than original, adding dodge, jump, and prone. Dialogue, music, and story all build on and improve on TLOU.

    Don't let all the butthurt snowflakes deter you. It's a masterpiece plain and simple. If only it were the other way around and Ellie died and Joel got revenge for her, then all these self-loathing women-hating basement-dwellers would be prematurely cumming on their waifus.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've never had a game challenge my desire to move forward more and yet keep me engaged wanting more at the same time. I found myself dreading moving forward because of the character's decisions that I know are not morally right, but I get it and move forward. The entire game is about the revolving circle of revenge and how nobody wins when seeking revenge.

    My biggest gripe with the game was the super slow beginning, but once the big change happens in the story when you get a new POV, is when the game really picks up.

    I found myself liking the Abby character and her story, here internal moral dilemmas, and her external moral dilemmas, more than Ellie's, which I think has turned a lot of people off of the game, but refused to even give the game a chance to make you care about the new characters.

    As for people who are being transphobic because of the inclusion of a Trans Character, the story doesn't even try to ram anything down your throat, but it does give a glimpse at someone's struggle as a trans person. But if you want to deprive yourself of this great story because you're worried about your transphobia, your really doing yourself a disservice, but you probably don't deserve this experiance.    … Expand

No idea why it got hate, it’s one of the best games on the PS4 (maybe the best). Possibly people don’t like non-cookie cutter stories but this felt more real than anything the first one ever did. In the end you’re supposed to be left seeing that there’s always another side to the story and people/things aren’t just black and white, or good and evil. And sometimes things don’t just get wrapped up in a little bow for you. Especially in a world as grim as the one in the game. The game played this all out beautifully. Beyond that, the gameplay, mechanics, etc were also a lot better and more enjoyable. 10/10.… Expand

You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll be impressed by a lot of bold decisions. I really like the risks in story telling, and the story.     This is the best story-based game I ever played. During gameplay I felt emotionally invested, absolutely mesmerised by character building and story twisting. DO NOT LISTEN TO BAD OPINIONS - you can feel conservative butthurt from miles away from negative grades here, especially from people that spent couple of hours on the game and then threw up their precious opinion here.

    This is no hero game. There is no 'good vs evil'. It's about humanity in its most desperate of times and what people are capable of doing when pushed to their limits with their emotions and minds. Outside of the marmite story, the rest of the game is at the top of its class in all other areas, so giving it a low score because of the story feels like a disservice to all of the hard work the developers have put in to create such a wonderful masterpiece of a world that feels eerily real.

    I for one LOVED the story. Without spoiling anything, the game takes an interesting narrative direction during the game, which I have seen no other game do and while some people don't like this, I think it's brilliant. It really makes you focus on the core themes the story is dealing with and makes you question your own morality.    … Expand

I usually hate modern stealth games but the mechanics here are pretty good and doing challenge runs has been very fun and rewarding.     I thought it was impossible to out-do the first game but they did it. It has its flaws (like everything and every human in life) but it’s a masterpiece. Story, emotion, level-design, gameplay and atmosphere-wise Naughty Dog have outdone themselves! This is one of the biggest achievements in gaming history. Masterpiece.

    Finally a game that explore deep subjects. Well written. Gameplay is fantastic, but a bit hard at normal due to the fact that they don't give you a lot of bullets. Nonetheless, good successor to the Part 1. I can't wait to see where they bring this franchise next.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I became a fan of the last of us back in year 2015. I was always a PC gamer but I knew that I have to play "The Last of Us" before dying. I bought my first console ever i.e. a PS3 and I played the game, i ended it and it spoke to me on levels which no other video game did. I connected to the game to the characters. To Joel, Ellie, Tess, Henry, His brother, Tommy and so many other beautiful characters.

    I bought my first PS4 in the summer of 2016 and ended the game again. I still remember when I saw the first trailer for the The Last of Us Part II I had goosebumps all over my body and I was in a state of shock.

    I was excited ever since the game's 1st trailer was shown in PSX 2016. I was so much excited to play this game.

    Fast forward Friday night 19th June, 2020 I played the game and seeing Joel die was just so much painful. I was expecting that they will kill him off but I didn't expect he will die so badly. Seeing him dead made me really sad. I cried for a longtime and well I hated Abby.

    Playing this game was one of the most complex and meaningful gaming experiences ever. The game affects you emotionally so much and teaches you the small things in your life which we all take for granted.

    I admit playing with Abby even till the end I was so pissed that why the hell am I playing with this woman but going towards the end, everything made sense. I started bring the pieces together and connecting the dots.

    What Joel did, it was justified to save Ellie but what Abby did to him was also justified. The game told me that "revenge" has no meaning in life, no matter how much we hate when someone wrong us, revenge is just never worth it.

    First game told me that how even during the pandemic humans can be cruel and be animals to each other. But the 2nd part told me that it is up-to us to decide who we wanna be. To live and let others live too. Forgive and forget.

    The ending broke me from inside out, even though Ellie forgave Abby at the end, but in her quest for revenge she lost Dina when she begged for her to stay. At the end she lost her too, the last piece of puzzle who could keep her happy or give her sanity.

    When I ended this game I was so sad that I went to bed, hugged my wife and slept like a baby. The game tells us not to take the little things in our life for granted. Our parents, our wife/husband/spouse, children, job, lifestyle anything for granted.

    it is very important to stay connected to your loved ones and cherish every moment till the very last breath.

    I honestly recommend this game to everyone who owns a PlayStation 4. Don’t trust anybody else’s views or criticism. Play yourself and decide yourself.

    Once again Naughty Dog, LLC does what it does best. Make games which are audacious, beautiful and empowering.    … Expand

It's a long and exhausting journey, and so very worth it if you leave your assumptions at the door.

    It's not a game for everyone - as the reviews seem to show - but if you enjoy emotional and moral challenges and don't see everything in black and white, then I can wholeheartedly recommend it.

    The graphics and gameplay are both improved over the original, with some truly spectacular visuals and very involving set-pieces.

    It does suffer from some of the same issues the first one had, however. A few fights (especially with the infected) rely a bit too much on getting lucky or trial-and-erroring your way through the environment, and there is one boss fight which can be frustrating until you find the right place to fight it. There are also one or two flashback sections which might have been worked better at different points in the overall narrative, but given how ambitious the storytelling is, I can forgive this.

    If you loved the first one and can go into the second with an equally open mind, then you'll love this. Just be prepared to be made uncomfortable by some parts of the game - they do pay off but you're going to come out of this game with very different emotions than you did with the first one.    … Expand

    К минусам так же добавлю продолжительность. К сожалению, геймплейная формула не предусматривает большой разнообразности и к концу пресловутые "арены" пробегал. Ибо надоело.
    В общем, как вывод. огромный респект команде разработчиков за столь шикарный и вылизаный продукт. Нилу Дракману же не помешало бы задуматься о способе подаче сюжета и вырезанию ненужной графомании.    … Expand

    this game is an absolute masterpiece! it is so fun getting abby killed over and over. whether she's getting her neck snapped by a giant zombie, falling off a cliff, or getting set on fire, the game never gets old! i applaud naughty dog for putting so much effort and detail into abby's death scenes. at one point i took too many hours trying to progress through a level because it was justthis game is an absolute masterpiece! it is so fun getting abby killed over and over. whether she's getting her neck snapped by a giant zombie, falling off a cliff, or getting set on fire, the game never gets old! i applaud naughty dog for putting so much effort and detail into abby's death scenes. at one point i took too many hours trying to progress through a level because it was just too much fun watching abby get stabbed to death by ellie! that's how entertaining it is watching abby get killed!

A ten doesn’t mean a game is completely flawless but it recognizes it as a monumental achievement, which the last of us part two absolutely is. Не думаю, что стоит вообще упоминать качество исполнения арта и анимаций, потому что это просто потрясно. Весь тот максимум, который можно было выжать из текущего поколения, показан в игре. При этом правда видны ограничения по железу (одинаковые враги, схожесть анимаций и прочее), но на фоне остальной проработки они честно кажутся мелочью. Сам же игровой процесс не стал сильно глубже, он скорее "расширился" за счет более активного стиля Элли и ее умения ползать пластунски. И если это те вещи, которые волновали вас больше всего - то можете смело брать игру, потому что опыт здесь будет не хуже, чем в первой части.
    **SPOILER ALERT**
    А теперь сюжет. Это, очевидно, самая спорная часть игры по двум причинам - во-первых, само построение сценария, когда мы переживаем две параллельные сюжетные линии (протагониста и антагониста) очень нехарактерно для подобных крупных проектов. И основной проблемой здесь становится то, что мы не можем сопереживать двум персонажам сразу. Поэтому для многих вторая половина может показаться ужасно скучной, неинтересной и мерзкой в своем исполнении. Однако, подобный ход все-таки значительно углубляет историю, выводя ее на тему серой морали и невозможности деления мира на черное и белое. Вторая же причина - сама по себе история берет менее цепляющую проблему ненависти и мести (если это сравнивать с проблемой отцов и детей из первой части), а, следовательно, и сама история получается не настолько душевной. Уж если быть начистоту, то (ИМХО) сильных моментов, которые прям резали душу, было буквально два и все они были завязаны на Джоэле.
    Вместо этого же мы получаем очень натуралистическую, жестокую и иногда отталкивающую сюжетную линию, которая описывает нутро людей в постапокалипсисе и их готовность пойти на любые жертвы. И как раз подобные подходы при разработке сценария и могут оттолкнуть большую часть игроков, что вполне логично. Мне же история понравилась, хотя и показалась несколько перетянутой (особенно в части игры за Эбби, которая мне не импонировала как персонаж т.к. я привязан к Элли со времен еще первой части).
    Для тех, кому интересен вопрос ЛГБТ пропаганды - именно пропаганды я не увидел. Да есть персонажи с нетрадиционной ориентацией, да есть упоминание темы самоопределения. Но чего-то, что выбивалось бы из общего мира и создавало ощущение, что ты попал в бар "Голубая устрица", нет.
    Если уж так подытожить, то я не могу физически ставить оценку ниже, т.к. работа аниматоров, левел дизайнеров и художников здесь просто потрясающая, заслуживающая 10. Но спорность самого сценария и его затянутость все-таки говорят о том, что на идеал эта игра не тянет.    … Expand

    What a great and huge game. The only cons for me were flashbacks, an order of some events, problems with pacing, and some weak characters. But when you the game it feels damn good. No regrets. Took me almost 42 hours on survival difficulty which is the best choice to play this game. I don’t know how else you’re gonna feel all the pain and fear of you have 20 billets for every single gun.

Gameplay is exceptionally fun, brutal and fluid, but a lack of innovation compared to the first game left me slightly disappointed. The story and characters are where things get dicey. Overall, it’s great. But once the perspective shifted to Abby, I started noticing things I didn’t like. Many scenes featuring Abby and her friends made me actively dislike them, and it wasn’t until two new characters joined Abby that I began to see her as more than the gaming community’s punching bag. The rest of the story, however, was breathtaking, going in a direction I’ve never seen in a video game. As an added bonus, the LGBTIQ+ representation is superb, and the accessibility options make this game one of the most disabled friendly games ever made. Bravo Naughty Dog.

    Although I can somewhat understand SOME of the backlash that this game has been getting by fans, I definitely do not agree with it, the original game was so special to me, and the fact that I am debating between the two of these games for which one is my favorite say it all. It is the greatest game I have played this entire generation, the only game that even comes close is Red Dead Redemption 2. If you have not played this game because of all the hate and backlash, I urge you to give it a try, odds are it could be one of the most powerful stories you have ever witnessed.… Expand

    What a masterpiece of gaming. Gone are the dreary environmental puzzles. Instead there is a fabulous story that everyone can relate too. Ignore the haters. They are most likely Trump supporters!

    The gameplay is gorgeous too. High-tech stealth action, the gameplay of which is balanced for maximum complexity.

    I just barely beat the game all the way through and the ending left me feeling hollow. I don't know if this deserves a full 10... I'd honestly give it a 9 - 9.5. However, I can see how this game isn't for everybody. It isn't a game that is about happy feelings. It is raw and real in a lot of ways. I personally hate what they did to some characters, but that is what made it so good. I feltI just barely beat the game all the way through and the ending left me feeling hollow. Its clear theres 2 sides who are angry: metacritic deleting reviews AND people who are just immature and havent given the story a chance. Btw Abby is not a trans.     The story is great. Its meaningful and the plot unravels in an exciting way. The graphics are good but I dont score it an 8 for that. I mainly think it was worth it. One of my favs for this gen. The envirobment and their puzzlish design are the main reason I enjoyed the gameplay. Its a decent game.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
