    This game literally splits it's community into two sides: The ones who hates it - and The one that likes it. And personally so far I didn't meet someones who truly LOVED it.
    It filled my assumptions. It was how I imagined it to be. Only 2 things were really unexpected for me: The beautiful game and level design and 3 out of 10 user scores after 10 hours of release.

    (No spoilers!) I went into the game blind and avoided all the leaks beforehand. I didn’t even read any reviews. I re-played the first game right before, which helped me get back into the setting of the world and the characters. I absolutely loved part II. I was amazed by it and right after finishing wanted to shout into the world how amazing the game is. So don’t let yourself be too(No spoilers!) So don’t let yourself be too influenced by some of the hate (not saying there can’t be legitimate criticism!) and just play it, you will not regret it. The story holds up, and while it is very dark and leaves you kind of depressed for a few days after playing it, it will just really stick with you. If you don’t like consuming that kind of media, which is absolutely legitimate, you might want to stay away from this one. ND definitely took some risks story-telling wise, but they greatly paid off in my opinion. It’s a top 3 game of the decade for me. P.S.: Really do yourself a favor and play TLOU 1 right before, even if you’ve already played it. It’ll make you care for the story and the characters so much more and you’ll pick up on things that you might’ve missed otherwise. TLOU Part II is definitely not a stand-alone title in my opinion.… Expand

    Absolutely phenomenal. Masterful gameplay plus an unmatched story. I've never left a game as emotionally impacted and I mean that as a good thing.

    Absolutely stunning. Easily a 10/10. Another high water mark for Naughty Dog. Had me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Graficamente para ser un juego de consola esta muy bien echo.Creo que este juego ha sido criticado por la forma en la que matan a joel, pero dejame decirte que si joel no hubiera muerto la trama de la historia seria una basura, que esperabais,una copia del primero??     The longer I think about this game, the more I like it. Every part of the game was gripping, and the level of detail that Naughty Dog provides is stunning. Oh, and I love the story.

    Visually stunning, the gameplay is like it's predecessor but with better have to hand combat due to the addition of dodge. If you enjoyed part one you should enjoy part two. Not as much a masterpiece as the original, but still one of the best games you could buy. Designed to make you think.

    A game about the dangers of emotionally missing a forest for its trees that hilariously (yet predictably) translated in a vocal and immature critical backlash from people guilty of that same mistake.
    Ignore the silly user score. Its something special that I'm sure will influence other creative minds in the industry to elevate story-telling to levels this industry never tried to. At least I hope so. It would be a shame if this level of maturity, respect for the audience's intelligence and courage went to waste with no follow-up.
    Buy it. A joy to play and a story that stays with you long after the console is turned off.

Joel’s death was brutal and the fact that you controlled Abby right before that segment made the whope scene even more gruesome. I felt like i betrayed Joel. So i understood Ellie’s urge for vengence. I was ready to make Abby pay. I loved the romance between Ellie and Dina and how both really loved eachother. When the change happened and I had to play Abby I was at first furious, but after seeing her interact with her friends and with other people I realised that she’s alot like Joel and Ellie and it’s not uninamaginable that they could have bern friends if things were different. I believe that one of the most touching themes of the game is the dehumanization of the enemy. Abby isn’t looking at Joel as an individual, he’s just the **** that killed her father. Ellie is not seeing the persons she’s killing throughout the story as persons, merely as obstacles in her way to revange. I think it was genius for the creators to humanize Abby and to show that she’s a person who’s flawed, but also that can crack bad joke and that can have fun with the people that she loves. In most media she would be a moustache twirling villain. I understood why Abby wanted to torture and kill Joel, if someone killed your parent, you’ll most likely want to do the same thing. Thinking that this act of violence will solve anything is wrong. That’s way the heartbreak of Ellie leaving Dina and JJ to finally kill Abby is more impactfull. In this moment Abby is more in the right than Ellie. Abby spares Ellie’s live and Ellie has everything that she could ever dream for, but she just can’t let go of the hate. The dissapointment and sadness in Dina’s face when Ellie leaves is that same as ours. Dina and we don’t want to see Ellie leave and lose this life that she managed to get after all the loss that she has suffered. Ellie’s choice to go back after Abby is not supposed to make sense, it is something instinctual, no logic or reason can convince her to stop her crusade. The final fight between Ellie and Abby, after Ellie cuta her down the pole is very emotional. Seeing Abby caring for Lev as Joel cared for her humanizes Abby in Ellie’s eyes. Before the fight she thinks about letting them go, but her need to fight her, to have some kind of resolution is greater. Only when she is about to win and to accomplish everything she wanted, she realises that it was not worth it and that the Joel from Jackson, the calm parental figure that took her to museum on her birthday and that played gee-tar on the porch of his house would be okay with letting go of the hate. The final discussion between Ellie and Joel, in hindsight, gave Ellie some kind of relief, I believe she was able to forgive Joel for his actions because she saw what Abby and herself were capable of doing for the people that they loved, so now she understood his actions better. The empty house and Dina taking JJ and leaving is the price she has to pay for this lesson, although in my headcannon they worked things out and got back together. In conclusion, The Last of Us Part II is a difficult, brutal game, that is not afraid to make bold decision that may not please some fans. It is not the safe story that they could have told. It is not a perfect game, some people will hate it. The pacing of the game can be a little jarring, but i believe that it was necessary to simpatize and to humanize Abby, which was always to goal of the game, to create a character that appears evil and unredeemable, and show that from a different perspective heroes appear villains and villains appear heroes. As a game and as a piece of art this game made me feel emotions that i didn’t expect a game to be capable to convey, for this reason and for the gameplay, sound, visuals this game is 10/10 in my book.… Expand

Story that happened after Ellie has settled down with Dina it all got ruined for me, don’t really understand the concept. Sacrificing good life for total revenge and giving up at the very end so I felt like Ellie didn’t gain anything at all.
    But it’s still 8/10 from me, it is a solid game with beautiful graphics ( it’s really good considering the ps4 limitation), brutality, crafting system, detailed fighting mechanisms etc. Therefore I don’t regret the purchase at all.    … Expand

The first however is still better story wise and in Part 2 they take the combat from the first game and update it and make it more realistic, gruesome and better. The reason why this game is not a 10 out of 10 in my opinion is the story, I have no problem with joel dying but the way he goes out just doesn't feel right. Joel is killed way too early in the game and then we have to play as his killer Abby for the second half of the game. I'm not going to lie though by the end I started to like abby and her gameplay is so fun and feels just like a horror movie, it's just that no matter what I'm not going to feel sorry for Abby which the game tries to do to you multiple times. I did enjoy Ellie's part of the game and her choice for vengeance. Overall I still think the last of us part 2 is a great game and dont understand why it is getting so much hate.… Expand

    The people who are upset i would say it is somewhat justified and i can understand, however this game really does not deserve the hate it gets in my opinion. Many people seem to be upset about Joel's death. I was too. He dies very early on and I feel he deserved better. However Joel was a bad man, who did many bad things in the first game alone, let alone what took place in the 20 years between the prologue and the main game itself. To put it bluntly, he kinda had it coming.

    The graphics were amazing. Even on the base PS4 i was stunned at how good it looked. Nothing much more to say about that.

    With the story, It felt very strange to play as Ellie for so long and then suddenly go back to the start of Seattle from Abby's POV. Not saying i didn't enjoy it or anything, I very much enjoyed seeing the events from her point of view and learning more about her. Also, she's jacked to all hell and that's a plus in my book.

    Ellie and Dina's relationship is good. It is not **** lesbianism. They feel like a real couple who care deeply for each other

    I cannot speak for trans people, however imo it seems they handled the trans character very well. It is very clear they are a real person with hopes and dreams and not an empty plot point. The only time he is deadnamed is a couple times by enemies that usually die very shortly after, and i think once by his mother. He is never deadnamed by any one of the main characters and everyone is completely fine with it, that being said however, he suffers-

    Everyone suffers, this game is not at all happy at all. There are not many laughs to be had, this game is sad as **** The enemies have names and that includes dogs, and people care when their friend dies. No game has come close to making me cry as many times as i did while playing this. I finished it about a week ago and i still feel depressed from the game, if you don't like the idea of being sad all the time i would not recommend getting it, atleast not yet

    The gameplay was unreal, the movement felt fluid yet clumsy and realistic, and combat is unrivaled. Without auto aim turned on i felt very anxious when trying to get shots off but every time an enemy rounded the corner and I immediately aimed and popped them in the head i can't accurately describe how odd it felt. Reminds me of a part in TLOU 1 when Ellie saves Joel and says "Damn I shot the hell outta that guy huh?"

    Would and will play again after i mentally recover lmao. It honestly amazes me that a video game could make me feel the way this one did and i don't think another game will even come close. The only reason i'm not giving it a 10/10 is because nothing is ever perfect. This game is fantastic, it has flaws, and i hated that Joel died after 3 mins of screen time and i don't think even the flashbacks can redeem that. But this game is far better than most people are making it out to be. Game of the Year in my opinion    … Expand

El juego me gustó mucho, es increible en todo, sólo hubieron algunas cosas que no me gustaron, en el trailer te muestran escenas falsas con Joel de la edad del año en el que se desarrolla el juego, pero al hacer eso hacen que no te tomes en serio la muerte de Joel. Y creo que la cosa era que empatices con Ellie por la muerte de Joel y quieras vengarte junto a ella pero las escenas falsas hacen que creas de que Joel volvera para que al final no sea así. Lo otro es que no me gustó la manera en la que mataron a Joel, entiendo que haya sido necesario para la trama pero por mi parte creo que lo pudieron haber hecho algo diferente y más digno creo yo.
    Por el resto no hay ningun problema,el juego me encantó es muy bueno en todo tipo de sentidos, es una experiencia que tienen que probar si o si.

The gameplay is fantastic, and the story was extremely immersive. The ending and game as a whole had me on an emotional rollercoaster for a week, and I absolutely love it. The game is meant to get you angry at Abby but then show the other side of the story. Joel was a good person; who has done awful things. Joel's death was justified as he killed Abby's father and so many more innocent people. The only complaint I have is how Naughty Dog advertised the game as something it wasn't, which is a Joel & Ellie adventure. I think this game is fantastic and an extremely emotional experience for those who enjoyed the first game.… Expand

TLOU2 is a narrative that only can exist as a video game, is a survival horror in which graphics, sound, music, enemies and a bunch of other extremely detailed elements collided in an adventure that placed me under the skin of the controllable characters, and in a lot of moments I felt their emotions and senses as if their ware mine. Yes, the game can be a little cliche in a lot of moments and it does have a few writing issues (that are not that bad as people say), but I love the way the game made me participant in such a conflicting story that range between love, hate and all the other emotions that radiate from those two. The game really made me think about the importance of our actions as humans and how those actions determine our place in this world. Man, there is so much more I can write about, but I prefer people to experience it for themselves

    A 10/10 does not mean is a perfect game, there are no perfect games and there will never be, in this case I just think the game is an outstanding piece of media, but find a little silly to abstract a complete experience in just a simple number.

    Even tho this game was a wonderful experience for me, I completely understand how a lot of people can have mixed or negative opinions, to those people (and to the ones that watched it in a walkthrough video -nothing wrong with that-) I ask, please give a second opportunity to this game, not now but in the future and hopefully with a different perspective, maybe you will love it or maybe you will still hate it, but if you don't try... you will never know.

    One of the most awe inspiring games I've had the pleasure of playing. Solid gameplay and a story that puts players through a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Graphically stunning. This game is a work of art and takes full advantage of what the ps4 can do. Don't let the internet trolls fool you. The review bombing is nothing but petty hateful trash. This game is worth every penny spent.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game epitomizes what the “The Last of Us” franchise is all about. It’s against the grain, and it’s designed to make you uncomfortable. There are no heroes (if you thought Joel was one, you’re delusional), only survivors with checkered pasts.

    The characters and relationships are what drive this series. Even those new additions with little to no backstory, like Dina and Jessie. They did an incredible job making every character seem deeply human and complex, which has always been a strength of their’s. The story itself was so real. Naughty Dog created something that we can connect to as human beings. The moral battles they force us to fight are equal parts excruciating and exciting. And it’s mentally exhausting, in the best way possible. Put yourself in Abby’s shoes and tell me you wouldn’t do the same to Joel. Ditto with Ellie and the masses of WLF soldiers she slaughtered. They both had their reasons, and we’re not allowed to judge one without judging the other.

    This was an emotional experience. One with far fewer ups than downs. But it was hauntingly beautiful.

Some of it coming from a place of love and grief over losing Joel; some of it from anger at having to play part of the game as Abby - the girl that killed Joel. However, most of it just seems to be coming from people that have an animus toward either NaughtyDog, Neil Druckman or Sony. I have one question to everyone in the latter camp - if another studio, director, corporation developed this game would you have the same feelings about it? It all seems a bit manufactured at this point to me. All the outrage, all the bad review scores, the videos of people getting bent out of shape and rage quitting/trashing the game over its story or gameplay - it’s getting old. So here is my informed opinion on why this game is great. First, the story - let’s get it out of the way. Yes, Joel dies; yes, you play as his killer - Abby. None of that makes the story, or the game inherently bad. You might not like the fact Joel dies, you might not like being put into the shoes of Abby, but everything in the game works to craft a compelling narrative experience. Playing the game is essential to appreciating the story in this case as well; you have to be the one engaged in the action, controlling the characters and experiencing their joy, pain and loss right alongside them. Sharing in their triumphs and failures brings you closer to them, just like in TLoU. If you just passively watch the game’s cinematics instead of experiencing them after controlling the characters to that point, you miss out on the attachment you form... The bond you build. Even for me to describe my experience with the story would be too much to detail here. Instead, I will try to be brief; the story is one that is better experienced by actually playing through the game rather than reading a review of one persons opinions or watching someone else play the game just so you can see what happens next. Seriously, you may come away loving the story (as I did) or maybe you get done and you absolutely hate it (or possibly something in between). Either way you owe it to yourself to come to a conclusion on your own with respect to the story. Honestly, it is going to come down to your taste for stories like this. Next is the gameplay, all I have to say here is it is better in every way over the first one. Shooting feels improved with better hit and kill indicators, less general sway to weapons when aiming, expanded and improved crafting, character skills and weapon upgrading. Environments are more beautiful with so much more details packed into every square block of downtown Seattle. Enemies show entrance and exit wounds after being shot, especially in the head. Throw an explosive at them and they will probably be torn apart as legs and viscera go flying all around. These violent expressions are probably why the combat/gunplay feels so damn fun. You relish scavenging for supplies because you know it means you will get more parts to upgrade your weapons; or maybe you find supplements that give you new abilities to keep a healthy supply of bombs and trap mines crafted and in you inventory. Not to mention this game has the most extensive accessibility and gameplay customization options I have ever seen. It is basically designed to be playable even if you are deaf and blind... So yeah. This game does so much better for the actual gameplay. I think this is not debatable at all. So if you are a fan of the gameplay in the first title, this one will leave you breathless and yearning for more. Overall, the game does play somewhat differently from the first, but there is enough in common, that it makes you feel right at home. I will try to wrap this up with some of my favorite things that the game delivered for me. 1. Incredible story that griped me and had me exploring my emotions and re-evaluating my stance on characters. 2. Combat is beautifully violent and such a pleasure to start mastering to develop your own tactical approach to encounters. 3. The music is so sharp and only serves to enhance the tone and attitude the game is evoking. 4. Top notch environments with stunning scenery, characters and graphics. This game will hold the spot as favorite so far this year. So I really hope this helps you decide on whether to pick it up or not. If you do/did and the story is wearing on you, understand it is supposed to, but if you really don’t like it - I am sorry. I know it might not be for everyone, but thankfully you can skip cutscenes and pretend it didn’t happen. Now if you don’t like the gameplay/were only in it for the story... this is your cue to avoid the game then. Hopefully, if that’s the case, you didn’t commit to buying it outright and just rented a copy/borrowed from a friend. I seriously love this game and hope with time people go back and revisit it with a fresh perspective and give the story a chance; I think there will be a newfound love for TLoU pt II… Expand

    As much as I tried to hate on this game I just couldn't the Abby character grew on me and the game showed brilliantly that there's 2 sides to every story. Not as good as uncharted but a nice game altogether

Сюжет к сожалению может многих разочаровать, но как по мне он хоть и уступает оригиналу, но не в коем случае не плох. Вторая половина игры, заставила меня испытать кучу эмоций, а концовка вывела на долгие размышления. После прохождения я понял на сколько все в этой игре получили по заслугам, и каждый ответил за свои действия. I got to understand the perspective of the "villiian" and realise that she was just the same as Ellie. So many people leaving bad reviews just can't get past the black and white / good guy / bad guy separation. Maybe move on from Disney and open your mind to something a bit more grown up.

    The gameplay was a bit too similar to the original but the world was just gorgeous. I found it a lot harder to get past some of the bosses than the original too.

    The story was really well done - it was a roller coaster of emotions. If you don't like feeling really really bad and really really sad...maybe not the game for you.    … Expand

That season changed her and took away a lot of her innocence and love. The story for Part II isn’t perfect and I didn’t like playing as Abby. Ellie is the same character from Part I she lost her innocence before that game even ended. Joel has had to deal with his lie all this time and Ellie knew it as seen in a flashback from the trailer for a second and in gameplay. Ellie’s worst fear was ending up alone and... it happened. I get the split liking and disliking of this game and this is the very first game review I’ve ever posted on Metacritic but I have to say I enjoyed what I witnessed but it wasn’t perfect, but still a good game and good story just not fantastic. And I’ve played the **** out of Part I I’m not even exaggerating when I say I’ve played Part I 16 times and I played it 2 more times in a span of 2 months before Part II dropped. I was ready and had huge refreshes on the story. I also stayed away from the leaks but I did know how Joel died just not when and how fast he did. I enjoyed playing as Abby and found her story as captivating as Ellie’s. The symmetry and poetry between the twos stories was heart wrenching. In Haven the entire sequence on horse back had me crying and my palms sweating.

    While mentioning crying I can’t NOT talk about THAT scene. My breath was held the entire time and I could barely see it all through my tears. It was absolutely heartbreaking and I need to commend Ellie’s voiceactress as she did a superb job. I feel that the ending to the game for me was very lacklustre. Everyone was able to find some peace and instead of learning from the vicious cycle of revenge, pain, revenge, pain the story was showing; Ellie leaves her family only to attack Abby at her lowest and then no go through with it??? It felt.... shallow and like it missed the mark. Though I appreciated that they explored actual consequences for actions for Ellie. Overall the game was stunning and the story was gut wrenching, but missed some marks here and there. 9/10    … Expand

This story captivates the reality and practicality of the situation the characters are in and tough choices they had to make in them. These choices also have consequences that cannot be undone.
    Without spoiling the story, I would just say that the game lays out different perspective of the characters and justifies the path they take.

It’s a bloody, brutal, and bleak game that is so visceral that you may feel Squeamish with the actions from characters. It’s the most beautiful game I’ve ever played.     The writing in this game is as good as it is daring. For the first time naughty dog puts a challenge in front of you that can't be beaten by skills or by playing. A masterpiece in meta writing. If the pacing of the story would have been slightly better this game would be one of the best ever made

    It crazy how many settings there are, you can really costum the game as you like it. My friend has a hard time seeing dark colors, but the game allows him to apply vision accessibility preset.

    Still I don't play games for story and when it comes to gameplay everything is better than the first, every arena feels like it is it's own puzzle that can be solved in many different way. This is a game where I recommend playing on a higher difficulty to get that intense survival feeling.

    When it comes to sound, graphics and presentation this is as good as it gets when it comes to console gaming at the moment.

    Игра в целом хороша, но не без минусов в подаче и раскрытии персонажей. По моему мнению её слишком затянули, ну зато локации очень красочные и довольно большие. Ставлю десятку только из за того что она не заслуживает такой низкой пользовательской оценки. Концовка в контексте всего что произошло за 25 часов игры просто охуенна, change my mind.     This game is freaking art. It made my stomach twist but it also made me feel peaceful and oh goodness i don't think I've ever connected with characters in a video as much I have in this game(and its predecessor of course). Wow what a ride. Definitely not a joyride but when we can call a movie like Joker art, we call this game art too. Naughty Dog took a huge leap of faith with this one

    I put in about 28-29 hours to complete the game and didn't find every extra goodie available. While bigger is sometimes better, in this case some sections felt too long. I wanted to find out the next story beat and getting there never feels like a straight shot, or some unexpected wall pops up that adds 30 minutes to the section (a classic Naughty Dog trope at this point). TLoU II isn't the first Naughty Dog game that is guilty of this. Uncharted 2 and 3 had some sections that could have been shorter as well.

    As for stealth mechanics, maybe I'm really bad at playing stealthy in this game. I felt like I was being pretty careful to not be seen or heard but most of the non-infected enemies seem to be able to spot and hear me pretty easily. There are many sections of the game that were designed with hiding places (under trucks or beds, in storage containers, in tall grass) so it seems like there was an intention to be able to play in such a way to be unnoticed and sneak up on enemies but that rarely ever worked for me. I was in open combat more often than not.

    The last criticism I had is that when I spent time searching the larger areas looking for hidden extra goodies the game would prompt me to click L3 if I need a hint. I don't need a hint, I'm just trying to find the hidden things. For all the extra work Naughty Dog put into making extra notes, cards, coins, etc. the game equally pushes me to stop looking for those and move forward.

    As for the violence, it is a bit over the top but it wasn't off putting for me as a player. I would say if someone else was watching me play they'd probably think I'm a sadist but I swear I'm not :D

    Everything else about the game I enjoyed. The combat is tight (even when I didn't want to rush into combat), the technical aspects of visual and audio presentation are fantastic, and I thought the story was good (albeit a bit too long). There are some flashbacks within flashbacks which does feel a bit strange but that feeds into my "game is too long" perspective. Could they have done it any other way? Probably, but I'm not a narrative or game designer so they did it better than I could.    … Expand

    This game is truly staggering! A thing of beauty.

    It involves some remarkable gameplay and insane graphics. I started this game with very high expectations after the first being my favourite game ever. There are so many twists and turns throughout and it takes you on a journey far from what was expected. It requires a little open-mindness and to kind of forget the first game for a sec, I’ll admit i struggled to do this and about halfway through it was very hard to play.     The Last of Us vem recebendo muitas críticas negativas por motivo idiotas. O jogo é revolucionário, é o jogo mais bonito que eu já vi, nos mostra os dois lados da moeda. Não é um jogo para agradar a todos, principalmente o final, entendo quem não goste do final, mas o jogo receber tanta críticas negativas é injusto. TLOU 2 é um jogo quase perfeito.

    Incredible game that will make you feel every emotion. The characters pull you in and make you care! The game is horrific yes, brutal, visceral, terrifying, but AMAZING. The graphics and small details are truly sublime. 10/10

    The amount of people who bombarded the reviews of this game without even playing it is ridiculous, petty and just plain sad. If you were actually to play the game you would see it for it's amazing graphics, game play, lighting, models, animations, story line etc. It's embarrassing to see some of these peoples negative reviews without real reasoning. What a shame.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
