    An incredible journey of repercussions. Emotional, enthralling, brutal, nuanced, fantastic. A masterpiece. From start to finish I was hooked, and I enjoyed ALL the characters. Magnum Opus.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Last of Us Part 2 takes its time to develop the story. A story in a very hostile world that will end some beloved character’s lives. It also introduces many new characters, e.g. Abby who kills Joel at the beginning of the game. That death was a real shock (especially after playing the first game) but it fits into a world where there is no government, no rules and no law. It‘s a modern Wild West where revenge creates more revenge. At first I hated Abby for what she did, but after playing the second half of the game I was glad how the final confrontation ended. I wanted her and Lev to survive as I could understand her motivation at the beginning of the game. And I really felt like she changed over the course of the game. Please don‘t believe these review bombers. Naughty dog introduced some LGBTQ+ characters in this game but I (a 30 year old white cis male) never had the feeling they were forced into it. They fit so good in the story. Especially Lev - a trans character growing up in a religious fundamental environment. I‘ll never know how it feels to grow up in such a hostile group of people that want to kill you for who you are. But I‘m glad he found Abby who accepts him for who he is. You see I‘m texting about fictional characters as if they‘re real existing persons. That‘s what Naughty Dog did with this game - it made me forget it is a game.… Expand

Мне также как и всем не понравилась вторая часть сюжета. Я был дико зол, был практически в шаге от того, чтобы выставить рейтинг в 1, но... Отойдя от эмоция я пришел к тому, что первая часть игры за Элли - шедевральна как и первая часть the last of us. Вторая часть мне не зашла, играя за Эбби.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I will review the 3 main aspects of the game:
    - Graphics
    - Gameplay
    - Story

    1.- Graphics:
    Astonishing, beautiful and out of this world graphics. The character's expressions were so realistic. Forests, landscapes, skyscrappers, all of it, it is perfect. The physics of the game were incredible too, as a programmer, I can´t imagine how much time, frustration and coffee cups did it take for the developers to achieve only the rope's physics. Such level of detail gives this game a huge added value.

    2.- Gameplay:
    Gameplay is pretty good too. The game is significantly easier than the first one, but still challenging, the game had me restarting some encounters over and over because of me failing to achieve the encounter in full stealth. Even though I didn't use the difficulty customization, kudos to the developers for thinking about that too, and giving players options for lowering the difficulty if necessary.

    However, there were some parts that were quite boring because the game has you walking for quite some time without actually encountering enemies of any kind. This gets slightly compensated with the visuals you get to see during these long walking sequences.

    3.- Story
    This is probably the most controversial and prone to debate aspect of the game. In order to understand the writer's narrative choices, people have to understand the aim of Naughty Dog for this game.

    Clearly this is not a Joel & Ellie game as it was with the first release. In this game, our protagonists face the consequences of the decisions taken in the first game, and THEY LOSE. it is now their time to suffer those consequences. Joel dying within the 1st hour of the game is probably the most realistic outcome the story could possibly have. Players of course are not happy with these choices, but me personally, it didn't really affect me, I appreciated the story. However, there are some things I did not like, which I list below.

    - Abby's gameplay:
    It is not Abby with whom I have a problem with, but with the fact that the game makes you play with her for the last 6-8 hours. Abby is a character recently introduced, I'm not supposed to care if she's got an affair with Owen or that kind of personal things. Abby became highly relevant after you discover her relation with Joel's actions in the first game, but that aside, there's not much story to tell about her, I think that her appereance on the game could've been reduced a lot.

    - Tommy's sudden change of mind:
    At the beginning of the game he shows himself reluctant to go after Abby, and right before Abby shows at the theater, Tommy suggests to go back to Jackson, since these people've already gotten what they deserved, but then at Dina & Ellie's house, you see this arrogant and rude Tommy that out of nowhere is convinced to kill Abby and Lev. Maybe because of Jesse's death, I don't know, but it didn't feel natural for Tommy, specially because throughout both games, Tommy has clearly shown a kind personality.

    Just finished the game. Love the story, graphics, acting, sound and music, environments, the contrast Between brutal violence and lovely emotional scenes. I’m very impressed by what Naughty Dog has pulled off here. Masterpiece.

After that I liked everything, I feel that it goes a little over the issue of inclusion, there are many people with different gender preferences in the game and this is what you can know if you listen to the conversations and read some texts that you collect. I am not saying that this is bad, but in reality there are not many people like that, 1 person out of 100 has different and putting so many takes away realism. Well, the game I recommend 100%, they have to play it so they will feel more empathy with the characters, there will be strong moments in which they will feel frustrated, sad and confused by what I recommend to stop, similar and then continue. They will not play any game, because it treats the facts in a very crude and realistic way, if I could give it an evaluation it would put a 9.4 / 10.… Expand

    Un buen juego, obviamente no superó su entrega pasada pero aún así sigue siendo un juego que vale la pena, aunque en algunos momentos alargaron la historia sin necesidad nos entregaron una buena trama entre Ellie y Abby, el sistema de apuntado es algo incómodo al igual que algunas mecánicas pero el gameplay en general es genial.

Whilst playing as Abby I was really close to dropping off. The moment when i was hitting Ellie to death i thought this was it. I didn't wanna play it anymore. I just continued because i wanted where it was trying to get at. The last part of the game has to be the best sequence in gaming history. The inbetween showing Joel's and Ellie's relationship going through such tension was like a Greek tragedy. Neill Druckmann was 100% committed to his vision. It's a pinnacle of art. Nothing less. I don't think we'll ever get to experience something this emotionally strong in a game. The game ain't about revenge. It is about survival. Mental survival. Physical survival. Survival at any cost. I'm not saying anything about the gameplay nor the graphics because it can't get any better on ps4 it's the best we've ever had in this generation. I wish Naughty Dog to keep making their games based on their vision. Not on fan fiction or whatever makes our mostly brain dead community happy. 10/10… Expand

    The last of us 2 es un videojuego "sobresaliente", sin llegar a ser la "obra maestra", que si fue el primero. Mejora absolutamente en todo a su antecesor, en lo que viene siendo el apartado técnico y jugable, pero, se queda un poco más corto en cuanto a historia e narrativa.
    Un titulo muy divertido, de lo mejor del 2020.

    Played it out a hour ago, for me its the best game of the generation. I get the story twists may not be for everyone but i loved it. I like how you care about characters that u should hate, i like the combat and the gphx are crazy for a ps4.

    In the worst parts of Last of Us 2, it is a 6/10. In its best parts, few as they are, it is a full 10.

    So what drops the impression of this game? The new characters are weak and unmemorable, compared to the first game. The cast is too big to handle and too big to get invested in. Some of them feel like they're right out from "Until Dawn".

    The second big con is the pacing. For large stretches of the game you are in a "Princess is in another castle" situation, with nothing worthwhile to reward your trek to your destination. You return to home base, then go out on another two-hour long exploration stretch to find - nothing. Back to base. Much of the main quest feels like a side quest.

    Very small con: Why is there no Uncharted-style blindfire? That would be absolutely perfect for this game. At times, I found myself trying to blindfire, just to realize that this feature is not in the game. Patch some blindfire in there, ND.

    Overall, a great game that will eventually recover its reputation. A must-play if you have a Ps4.    … Expand

    THE LAST OF US is a masterpiece. The naughty dog, as usual, enriches the scene in such a way that it is worth stopping the campaign for a while and “traveling” around the map. Gorgeous graphics, surreal lighting. Although many are not speaking well of the plot, the game perfectly portrays life in an apocalyptic setting. A game that is worth every penny and every second played.

    The game has incredible presentation as is par for Naughty Dog. Playing on PS4 pro, the game has phenomenal graphics, some of the best animations I've ever seen, absolutely glorious surfacing for things like water and asphalt, the voice acting is as great as ever. The gameplay as well stands out to me. I continually ran into issues with poor balancing (easy difficulties are way too easy, hard difficulties are way to hard) I think this is an issue of the gaming industry as a whole and it didn't prevent me from enjoying to gameplay save for a few very difficult encounters. The gameplay is pretty similar though largely improved from the first game. I played on the second hardest difficulty, Survivor, and my playthrough where I explored every optional path I could find took 40 hours. The average playtime is closer to 24-30 hours. Even with this 40 hour runtime I was never bored of the combat and the options it allowed me. The combat encounters, especially against the infected enemies, are almost puzzle like in ways. It rewards knowledge of enemy AI, proficiency with the game's weapons, and familiarity with the arenas where you fight these enemies, in a very satisfying way.

    And now.. to the story. Spoilers here of course.

    The first half of the game you play as Ellie from the first game, Ellie has some great gameplay sections, one oddly inserted and forgettable car chase, but an amazing open world section with lots to explore and goodies to find. Her story is fine if not a bit cliched.

    The second half of the game you play as Abby, who Ellie has been trying to kill the entire game. They force you into this character to be polarizing and shocking. You unfortunately have to actively force yourself to side with Abby, this isn't a fault of Abby's story, but rather Ellie's motivations, which linger after playing as her for 15 hours. If you can manage to distance yourself from Ellie, Abby is very entertaining and fun to play as. Her gameplay sequences clearly were a little less polished but were still greatly enjoyable. I think Ellie's story alone is pretty good. Abby's story alone is really great. When the game tries to merge the two together, it fails entirely.    … Expand

Personally I quite enjoyed this game and although I had some issues with the story and pacing, it still left a mark on me. It is however a very bleak game and at the end of it, I felt emotionally and mentally drained. I do not however regret getting this game at launch as my playthrough clocked in at about 25 hours but that probably doesn't include all the times I died.

    My biggest gripe with this game is that they destroyed Joel's character and to a lesser extent Tommy's. In the first game, it was established that Joel did not trust people (at the beginning of the outbreak, Joel did not stop the car for a family on the side of the road and told Tommy to keep driving; Joel ran over a man he knew was pretending to be injured because he had high suspicions that it was a trap). In this Tommy and Joel gave out their real names to a group of strangers and put themselves in a situation where they were easily ambushed. This felt like lazy writing to me and was just used as a plot device to move the story forward.

    Fanboys will say that Neil Druckmann addresses this by saying that Joel and Tommy became soft but this was not properly conveyed. They were still going out on regular patrols and if anything, Joel's experience would have led him to be more careful, not less. Druckmann says that Abby and her group were just regular people, not hunters. This is shown not to be the case as Abby and her group are worse; they've WLF (wolves) and they kill strangers on sight.

    The game would've have been better if:
    1. They established Joel and Ellie's relationship a bit more. They should've had you playing as both characters for maybe 1/4 of the game and then kill Joel off. This would've been more impactful and would've given players what they wanted from the first game.
    2. They should've started off with Abby's arc and established her character if they wanted you to sympathise with her. Abby is actually one of the worse people in the game. She tortures Joel, kills god knows how many people and has no remorse or PTSD about any of it. She's a straight up psychopath. She did however grow on me but I generally forgive relatively easy when I'm playing something I enjoy.

    Now for the good parts. The game is astoundingly beautiful, everything from the characters to the environment are breathtaking. It'll probably be the prettiest game on the PS4. The mo-cap and the voice acting are top notch. The gameplay is excellent and much more refined than the first. The rope mechanics are pretty impressive. I can definitely say I had a lot of fun playing it.

    I also applaud Naughty Dog for trying something different however I wished they executed it better and responded better to criticism. I do not like the fact that they went to great lengths to deceive the fans by modifying the trailers to give the impression that Joel will have a bigger presence than he did. Plenty of people don't/won't enjoy it and that's fair. It's a very divisive game.    … Expand

    This game tries to teach the same as the first part, perspective. That there is no good or bad objectively, not everyone wins or everyone loses either, only shows persecution even in a painful way.

    Even if the game had no real gameplay, I would have absolutely enjoyed my whole time with this game, only because of the fantastic graphics, the sound and the story it tells every minute of the game within cutscenes, environmental storytelling and superb written dialogues.

    And the story, and what it did with me, is a pure masterpiece. The way I felt with characters, even some I didn't want to like in the beginning, was so intense, like the best movies not often manage to accomplish. I cried (some small :) tears of joy and tears of sorrow during this tour de force.

Каждый бы сам решил что делать с этим персонажем. эх... да я понимаю что Джоэл и Элли тоже не самые лучшие люди. Они (убивали,пытали и т.д). Джоэл убил отца Эбби. My roommates pretty much watched me play the entire game, and there were parts where all 5 of us were anxiously screaming while i was running for my life. The narrative is excellent. Sure, some things didn't happen the way I would have wanted them to, but for me that doesn't take away the quality of the story being told. The characters are fleshed out more so than a lot of our favorite movies and TV shows, and their decisions are justified through their past experiences and reactions to said experiences. The game changes the way you look at certain characters, both in good ways and in bad ways. I was in awe at my own emotional development towards them, both gaining and losing trust as the game went on. No other game has done that for me, and I tip my cap to Naughty Dog for such an achievement.
    And lastly, the soundtrack is amazing. No surprise there.
    I could go on and on, but I feel like a lot of it is just repeating what the other people who enjoyed Part II are saying. I will never understand the hate that this game got, but everyone is entitled to feel how they do.

    Из минусов, очевидно, часть игры за Эбби, персонаж неинтересный.
    Так же мне кажется что в игре стало слишком много ресурсов, по сравнению с первой частью, где ты входил в бой с 1-3 патронами. Проходил игру на сложном уровне, при этом в каждом здании было не сложно найти кучу вещей для крафта и с десяток патронов.
    Из-за этого не 10, считаю что 1 часть была лучше, но и во 2 рекомендую обязательно поиграть.    … Expand

    I have played the first The last of Us on PS3 and I wanted to replay it on PS4 before Playing Part 2, I loved the first TLOU and the DLC left behind is a short but meaningful story, I finished my second playthrough of the first game the day before i started playing part 2 and I was glad I did that. Many dialogues can be missed if you haven't played the first like when Ellie tells that they once met a guy called Bill who used to plant bombs all over his town or when she was captured by people who used to eat their victims. Great acting and the story isn't obvious, never felt to know how it would go on. The game makes you feel many emotions and makes you even stop playing it because you don't want carry on, you don't agree with what is happening but this is the beauty of this game, within hours or minutes it makes you feel opposite emotions and makes you hate yourself for hating certain characters only because you didn't agree with them because of the lack of understanding and knowledge of their background and motivations. I loved the story but what I loved most was that this game brought up so many emotions, not all positives but also negatives, that i can't say many games are able to do so. Part 2 goes deeper in the story and gets better gameplay to the point that the first TLOU looks like a demo, just a taste of what ND wanted to tell and show with this games.… Expand

O hate todo que o jogo anda a ter nesta última semana é estúpido, a maior parte só leu os spoiler/leaks ou viu pessoas a falar sobre. Só quem realmente o jogou é que devia de opinar já que a experiência de jogar é completamente diferente.

    O jogo foi corajoso de início ao fim, tomou decisões realistas,    Amei o jogo e aposto que as pessoas que o realmente jogarem do início ao fim vão adorar. O hate todo que o jogo anda a ter nesta última semana é estúpido, a maior parte só leu os spoiler/leaks ou viu pessoas a falar sobre. Só quem realmente o jogou é que devia de opinar já que a experiência de jogar é completamente diferente.

    O jogo foi corajoso de início ao fim, tomou decisões realistas, o que nos faz ter medo de tudo que possa acontecer pela frente em termos de história. Em termos de gráficos está muito bonito como já se esperava e com expressões super realistas o que faz as cenas ficarem ainda melhores.
    A trilha sonora está tão boa quanto o primeiro, sendo que neste tem algumas que mexem de certa forma mais connosco, o que faz as cenas de stealth ficarem mais tensas.

    A mecânica segue o padrão do primeiro, mas bem melhorada. Agora podem andar deitados ou até quando levas um tiro a força da bala atira a personagem para o chão e podes também disparar deitado ou te desviares. Tem também um pouco de parkour, o que fez com que as cenas de procurar itens ficassem mais divertidas.
    O jogo agora tem mais jump scares, combinou bem, pelo menos assustou-me mais que Resident Evil 2.
    E tem detalhes simples como a personagem ter medo de alturas então todas vezes que olhas de um sitio alto lá para baixo, a câmara sobe e dá menos zoom e a personagem começa a tremer de medo ou quando estás abrir cofres mesmo que não saibas o código consegues ouvir um pouco de diferença no som quando passas pelo número certo e tem mais coisas do mesmo género.

    Gostei das personagens novas, nenhuma me conquistou tanto quanto o Joel e a Ellie, mas são boas personagens. Um ponto importante que as pessoas reclamam sem motivo, é sobre a Ellie ser lésbica, não faz sentido nenhum reclamar sobre isso... Ela apenas é! Em nenhum momento o jogo foca nisso como um assunto para se discutir. Eu gostei bastante da relação delas, elas combinam uma com a outra dá logo para ver durante os diálogos. Duas pessoas diferentes mas que se completam, a relação delas é necessária até para o ritmo do jogo porque faz-nos sentir que ela é a única que faz a Ellie se sentir bem e ser sincera.
    Se pessoas reclamam/não gostam do jogo por causa da Ellie ser lésbica para mim não passam de homofóbicas.

    Eu particularmente gostei da história, obviamente é um assunto mais delicado porque cada um tem a sua opinião e o jogo toma decisões fortes e que mudam muito o ritmo do jogo, especialmente em relação ao primeiro. O motivo de ter gostado é porque o mundo de the last of us é duro e realista dentro daquilo que propõe, então as coisas que acontecem fazem sentido. É uma experiência diferente da maior parte dos jogos.

    Outra cena porque que as pessoas estão a comentar e fazer tantos meme sobre uma cena de sexo de 3 segundos?? Parece que nunca viram sexo num jogo, quando descobrirem the witcher 3 vão tentar processar a CD Projekt.

    -SPOILER- || A morte do Joel foi muito bem feita, foi cruel e forte o que nos faz sentir odeio e querer vingança, consigo entender o motivo das pessoas não gostarem desta cena, mas eu também adorava o Joel mas também entendo que ele merecia morrer porque quando salvou a Ellie no fim do primeiro jogo, ele matou muita gente inocente e literalmente destruiu a única possibilidade de uma cura então é normal haver pessoas atrás dele para apenas se vingarem especialmente a Abby já que ele matou o pai dela que era apenas um médico que queria salvar as pessoas.
    Depois tem gente que diz que o Joel não era burro ao ponto de dizer o nome dele ou confiar em estranhos. Parece que se esquecem que quem deu o nome dele foi o Tommy para tentar acalmar a Abby que para eles era apenas uma miúda assustada, e como o Joel estava cercado por infetados a única maneira de fugir era confiar na Abby que conhecia uma zona segura perto. E também mais para frente nós descobrimos que ela já sabia sobre o Tommy e o Joel fazia 4 meses, os Wolves sabiam quem o Joel e o Tommy eram, então confiando na Abby ou não, ia dar ao mesmo e também se esqueceram que o Joel ficou mais soft por viver rodeado de pessoas melhorou os seus problemas de confiança e frieza que tinha antes.
    Ao longo do jogo volta ao passado e sempre que o Joel aparece gera cenas mesmo boas e emocionais e faz nos lembrar o quão bom era o personagem e que ele apenas queria o bem para a Ellie||
    Realmente amei o jogo uma experiência incrível, acabei a tremer e posso dizer que é jogo da geração. Apenas calem se e joguem o jogo em vez de ler leaks com final falso    … Expand

    One of the most well made games of all time. The level of detail in the art and graphics are extraordinary here. The gameplay is a refined version of the first one, and that was already pretty awesome. The history is a bit overly long and maybe not the most inspired thing about this game, but It isn't bad either.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
