The Last of Us part 2 is a work of art. The animations, character models and environments are all out of this world as most Naughty Dog games are. Additionally, the voice work is top notch with returning VAs and new alike giving heartfelt performances that really draw you into the characters.

Unfortunately, that is basically all the game does well. Graphics and voice work can only carry a game so far without good gameplay and story to back it up (in most cases anyway; there are plenty of examples where gameplay carries a game entirely), The gameplay is passable enough; essentially just an iteration or two off of the first game but nothing noteworthy to really set it above it's predecessor. But the story is where the game really loses the plot.

I don't want to spoil anything (not that it hasn't been spoiled all over the place for a few months now) so I won't go into specific details of the plot but I'll lay out a few general critiques. For instance, much of the game takes place with a group that it fails to really endear the player too. As such, unlike the first title it tends to be hard to get emotionally invested in them and the struggles they face feel empty which greatly undercuts many of the more dramatic moments in the story. Beyond that, the characters the game does a good job of connecting you to (or who have a prior connection from the first game) tend to act in unreasonable ways when compared to their personalities or previously established character traits. But, in my opinion, the most egregious fumble the game makes is just a measly 2 hours into the game where it combines all the faults and just killed my enthusiasm for the rest of the story.

All in all, it is a very pretty game with decent gameplay but does little to actually motivate you to play through the story.

This is what I expected from a next gen game. Insane how other games this gen have not made use of the full potential of the ps4 pro. However, the story of TLOU2 is horrible and filled with the director’s ideology of what he thinks is right.

The only part of the game that I actually enjoyed was the part where you play through a short memory of Joel and Ellie. A throwback to what made the first game so incredible and the very lack thereof being the main cause for the failure of TLOU2. Not worth the full price, but if you sell the game right after beating it, you’ll end up paying about 10 bucks for an experience you can easily live without.

I was highly looking forward to this game till I heard about the leaks and how bad they were, naturally for fear of my money being wasted I looked into them. The amount of **** they put into this story is **** atrocious. The only reason I'm not giving it a 0 is because it's good to be back in the world of the last of us with it's fun gamplay style. Even with the devs not knowing what to **** do and forcing their political ideology down our throats. It's a mistake of a **** game, and I will pay you to not buy it and to boycott naughty dog to send a message that this is not what we wanted. They have the media on full damage control, and are forcing game review companies to give them good ratings. I wouldn't be surprised if they take our negative reviews down. Expand

The graphics are improved, but some textures and scenes are just downright ugly. Some characters don't move when approached and dogs "rotate" instead of turning their bodies naturally when you go to pet them, destroying the immersion even more. Crafting is also improved but extremely overrated (all this hype about JuMpInG being added to the game for example is a complete let down) like most elements in this game. Speaking of elements that are disappointing, this also applies to the story.

Joel and Ellie are killed by the "main antagonist", but the dumbest thing of all is that Joel isn't even "in" this game. You only "interact" with him in flashbacks which are incredibly stupid. Characters are more diverse, but are all unlikeable and at times insufferable - including Ellie. It doesn't feel like a real horror, the Last of Us 2 experience. It feels like what would happen if the franchise was taken over by SJWs led by Anita Sarkeesian to prove some "#woke" political point no one cares about, and not even doing it well (for example, Abby, seen as the main antagonist, is transgender, which is portrayed as a villain but also deserves pity cuz Joel bad! Or the constant hilarious and stupid decisions Ellie makes that you have no control over.) The pacing is also terrible. The game feels way too long for what it is and just seems to fester as you play it with mundane tasks, as if the devs were forced to add filler to meet a quota. The sex scene with Abby for example, while extremely cringey, lingers on way too long afterwards at a black screen for no reason other than to fill time and make you question life itself.

TL;DR Overall its an average horror game with slightly better graphics and a terrible story, but as a LAST OF US game, comes off s an overrated, boring, and quite frankly extremely disappointing experience, that was a product of poor decision making, abuse of employee labor and having to PAY "journalists" for reviews and 10/10. If something is too good to be true usually it is. This game is an abomination of a forced sequel for easy sales, that nobody asked for. Don't believe the paid reviews, or hell even me, go and see for yourself how much of a trainmen this franchise has become - unless you're an SJW, pass. This game single-handeldly ruined the franchise. Play the first TLOU instead.

The Last of Us II is a dumpster fire that is able to impressively utilize the current-gen technology, but that’s about all good it can get. The positives of this game come where the gameplay is introduced, with stunning graphical improvements and new vertical moving mechanics introduced, which adds a more adventure “feel” to the game than its former predecessor. The motion capturing and voice acting is also to their advantage as well. The flashbacks to when Ellie was 12, are arguably some of the best parts of the game. It reminds you of what made the first game special with it’s character bonding and exploration features. There are many negatives to this game, which begins with Naughty Dog’s marketing team. Before the game released there were lines that were given to Joel‘s character, which got scrapped and given to a new character named Jessie post-release. This heavily mislead consumers into believing that Joel had a bigger role in the overall story, when he really died within the first 2 hours of playing. There were also scenes with what appeared to be 19 year old Ellie and an older character model for Joel, to only be changed back to the young Ellie and Joel from 2013 as flashbacks, which mislead consumers even more. Neil Druckmann, game director of TLOU2, told the fans that Ellie was the only playable character in the game, which is incorrect since for 6-7 hours of gameplay you are forced to play as the main antagonist; Abby.

The issues continue when you go with the narrative experience of The Last of Us II. The first game took you on an adventure with Joel and Ellie, with immersive and beloved characters, with teaches you that you shouldn’t trust just anyone. In the sequel however, it ruins this theme by taking characters you loved in the first game, make irredeemable decisions and shows us a theme of revenge, which is very cliché in terms of storytelling at a regular basis, and ruins the character development some characters got in the first game. It doesn’t stop however, when they introduced the death of Joel, which could’ve worked if executed more properly. In the first game, it was elaborated that Joel was an untrusting character; even making false names and being wary of every situation. In The Last of Us II however, not even within 24 hours of knowing Abby and her crew, and also being aware that they’ve been hunted for the past 7 years...Joel gives them their names and the location of their hideout, which is completely out of character. Ellie also has some out of character issues aswell. Abby had killed Joel, Ellie’s only father figure, and spends the rest of the game trying to chase revenge after her. During the Final Battle, Ellie has these weird flashbacks that influence her decisions very conveniently, even going as far as to when Abby has bitten off two of her fingers and beaten her bloody, Ellie lets her go after seeing a flashback of Joel playing the guitar. 4/10.

When you create a game with generic gameplay and generic realistic graphics, all that's left for you to make an impact on your audience is the story, now when you try to oscarbait with that story, and make a generic revenge plot the central theme of said story, and then, on the easiest crowd pleaser to ever exist, flop the ending by destroying your own protagonist and having the villain basically get away scot free.

Well, on that moment my friend you earn a 3 on a game so generic and competent that could have gotten a 7 just on gameplay and visuals alone.

This is a how the gender ideology destroy another thing.. This was one of the most waiting games. But when you want to force add some external ideas to a game you will destroy the good things.

Anita Sarkeesian put her hands on the game script forcing to be a lesbian story trying to “educate “ about external and not related topics.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The sad thing about this game is that everything about it could have made for a great story. It had a lot of good elements that I liked but even as someone who didn't even watch or play the first game there's just nothing to make you feel good about this story. You're always taking a risk when you try to tell these kinds of stories and I'm sad to say that it just didn't work out for me and for and probably the majority of other people. At no point were you rooting for both characters to make it out. At some points you're not even rooting for Ellie because she's acting out of her role.

One moment that really takes you out of the story is when play as Abby fighting Ellie. What the **** Naughty Dog. You do realize the dichotomy that this event breaks. You're either for Ellie or against her. You can't be in-between because that's not a satisfying story. It's why those types of stories rarely work.

Frankly, I'm honestly sort of upset seeing the "critic" award at 95. So many people who haven't seen or even heard about the story seem to be swayed by it but trust me, it's sadly nowhere close to a 95/100. Watching the entire play through on twitch you could see how after some key moments in the story everyone just lost interest because it just takes you out of it when nothing good happens. It's not a fun story. Maybe it's story they wanted to tell but that doesn't correlate with what the players wanted out of it. No one likes seeing their favorite characters die a pitiful death. Joel was killed by a golf club to the head while tied down. Honestly, with the way interactions between Joel and Ellie have been I can frankly not say if him dying was a good or a bad thing. It doesn't make sense that his death would be the turning point for Ellie to all of a sudden forgive him. It just doesn't make sense. And at the end of it, what are we left with it. The hero who has now lost all their friends including their child and with only 8 fingers left and what is in our eyes a villain who got to escape without any damage away from clashes between factions and who is now living without most problems with their best friend. Is that really what the players wanted?
No, it's not. Even me who has no care for any of these characters from the previous game. Also, doing one good thing doesn't make you good. Abby is not deserving of nice things. She doesn't value other's having nice things so try convincing us that she is worthy of having nice things. It doesn't work like that.

Yep. Don't buy this game if you're looking for a good story. Everything else is pretty top notch as expected from Naughty Dog. Just don't go into it looking for a satisfying story is all. Sadly, in this case I think a good story is so much more important so therefore I can't really go any higher with the score even if I wanted to. it wouldn't be truthful of me to do so. I look forward to seeing what Naughty Dog comes up with next. I have no doubts that they have the ability to create great stories. This one just isn't that.

He has truly tarnished the fabric of all of the characters from the original game (all for the cheap method of subverting expectations) in order to establish brand new characters who are introduced in such a poor way that it is impossible to gain any kind of connection to them.

Druckman wrote a game that ticks all of his boxes. Yet he completely forgot that the world doesn't need to be forced to see miserable and gruesome scenes in a game all for the sake of teaching the futility in vengeance (a story Im sure we've all been embedded with from the ripe age of 5 from fairy tales) Because that is what defeats the purpose of playing a video game, we want to play games to have fun, and when a game becomes so depressing that it hurts to play as one of the main characters of the game-you've f*****d up big time. We're forced to witness characters we've grown strong bonds with make choices that betray every molecule of their anatomy. It truly is the Game of thrones season 8 of video games. Its so disappointing to see, Naughty Dog created a refreshing story back in 2013, with believable and deep characters, a world with a original spin on the zombie genre with the cordiseps virus. Conflicts that shape characters and lead to flourishing character development. For all of that growth to be stamped upon time and time again in the last of us 2 is a travesty.

Compared to the original game We experience a 20+ hour game that is deviod of any character development, deviod of any intriguing new characters. Deviod of any spirit from the original game whatsoever that this may as well of been a spinoff game. From my experience I lost any motivation to complete this game from around the half way point. The point where you're subject to a perfect example of how to create the most unlikable character in video game history and forced to play as that said character. Perhaps if another writer had been in charge then this character could've been made justified for their actions, and even create a connection with players. But it is executed pathetically.

Gameplay in the last of us 2 can be tedious. Thankfully they included in depth difficulty options in the game to fit the players style. However for those wanting to play on a survivor difficulty and not use these options You'll be subject to a downright boring-unfun experience. One that you will question to yourself on multiple times 'why did I buy this?'

I feel as though through elementary grade writing from Niel Druckman and a tedious gameplay loop that drags you through the dirt for over 20 hours has, lead too The last of us 2 going down as one of the worst sequels to a game in at least this generation

Storyline is completely new story - not like it brings something better than what i have already wrote before. This story is gloryfication of radical left agenda, that is forcefully shoved down the player's throats, even at a cost of bringing down LOVED and APPRECIATED franchise. So to not mention any spoilers - was it really worthy Naughty Dogs, to cooperate with Anita Sarkeesian on this one? For this woman everything is literally opportunity to be offended, and the recipe for that is to wrap it in the Orwell. And i say that as a leftist. Story is dissapointing, forced, disgruntling and serves purpose of putting token characters. I am no surprised that Sony went to great lengths to ban all leaks of this game - because it it spread wider, noone would buy this game for story, except for Twitter checkmarks who we know they are not buying any games. This is sad, and the blatant hipocrysy of outlets who are giving this game 90+ points is additional letdown, because it clearly states that you cannot trust any of them any longer.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

My heart is broken. At first it was anger, disappointment. But now it's just emptiness.

People have been waiting for so many years, and for what? To pay a lot of money for the nice picture and long, boring gameplay, during which these "geniuses" from Naughty Dog make us watch how everything, that we loved, is destroyed?

I loved these characters, their story from first game. All that they both went through. They are not heroes, they did a lot of controversial and bad things. But this is a post-apocalypse, people survive as they can. And we understood that. We CAN understand this all.

The salvation of a loved one is something, that we can feel, understand, and we would do the same. Joel’s action at the end of the first game was not good or right, but we would do the same. The end of the first game was great, so why continue?

They destroyed everything. They abused what was dear to us. They did it dirty, stupid, not logical, cheap and sterile. So stupid that I have no words. They destroyed the very essence of the characters. Deprived them of themselves. They took what they undeservedly inherited from the glory of the first game and created a terrible homunculus out of stupidity, hatred and illogicality.

There were so many opportunities and ideas, so much could have been done in these seven years. But they did the worst imaginable. They created a stupid and empty character, a girl with a bodybuilder body (yes, there is no post-apocalypse around, and everyone has their own gym and a huge number of proteins, proteins and carbohydrates), and gave her the power to create the fate of our favorite characters. It causes the players only one desire - turn off the game and no longer play it. Forgetting her like a nightmare.

The mere desire to fulfill revenge gave strength to overcome this stupid game, but even this will not be given to us. They were supposed to give players the right to choose at the end of the game, but what I’m talking about... "Give us your money, take this bad fan fiction, and swallow the dirt with tears in your eyes, homophobes!" But what does homophobia have to do with it? This is not the problem with this game! This whole game is one big problem. Neil **** is a problem. And I hope, that soon as many people as possible will understand this and realize how cruelly deceived all of us are.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

The creators obviously got carried away into stuff that has very little to do with creating an enjoyable adventure. I find the dialogues especially flawed, often meaningless rants...a zillion f-words are not gonna make up for bad dialogue. It feels very shallow and cheap shot sitcom es-que. I'm around halfway into the game and I'm considering to leave it that way, not very motivated to get to the end of this...The story and dialogue is very focused on making issues of certain themes, and by that if feels unnatural and forced... I'm form Europe and just bought the game without checking reviews or opinions. I figured this would be pure gold. But now I'm wondering why they did it like this....? You can tell a story unbiased, without sexual references, without swearing every 5 seconds, without constant meaningless violence. It doesn't matter if the protagonists are male, female or in between. You don't have to zoom in on those traits, it is unnecessary and hinders the immersive nature of telling a good story, a story that can be enjoyed by all, that connects people instead of dividing them. A story that can be universally appealing. I think it is an art to tell stories like that, and naughty dog swapped the classic art form of storytelling for useless ranting, unnecessary plot twists for the sake of shock effect all fueled by gore and violence and a constant hint to sexuality and gender. It makes me sad for all the people that put their work in this, all these expensive pixels, the beautiful scenery as a stage for crappy dialogues and weak storytelling. It feels like naughty dog is going through moral puberty, and is just provoking for the sake of it . They just used the universe of the Last of Us as a setting for ventilating their needs. I fear this is gonna feel very dated soon and will not have a long lived history in gaming. The human race has been great at storytelling for thousands of years, it sure seems we are likely to undo that skill in just a couple of decades, where telling a cinematic story has become an excuse to create an absurdly moralistic and political mess solely created to score points in online political debate and not to take the audience on a magical experience....A missed chance in creating a memorabel game. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a long-time fan of the TLOU franchise, I was absolutely devastated by this game and how fans were treated by critics.

First of all, I have to praise it for the technical aspects of game. The gameplay and the graphics were amazing. I witnessed stunning displays of advanced graphics, smooth controls (except the poor jump control), great story transitions, and expanded capabilities of what a user can do in the game. Those were fantastic.

BUT... what made the original TLOU a perfect game was the combination of gameplay, graphics, and fantastic storytelling. This game severely lacked the latter.

The poor treatment of Joel was downright insane. I understand that killing off a main character to push the story to a new level may be necessary, but to turn him into an unsuspecting, gullible man in a world that is out to get the person who ruined the Fireflies was a poor choice of narrative. ND and critics are bashing the fans for not accepting the killing of Joel, but what can you possibly expect from us when you made us love and understand a character who’ve experienced a loss of his daughter, who was untrusting of anyone, and battled against a flawed faction to save someone he grew to love and trust? ND made us empathize with him and understand his actions. Now you decide to kill him off in the most unclimactic manner possible?

The introduction to Abby and the long hours of gameplay with her was terrible. The game made us play with an unknown character within the first hour and make her (or him) brutally beat the main character to death. Then later we are forced to play as her for who knows what hours. Seemed like infinity. The game goes onto make us see from Abby’s perspective. What for??

If ND wanted to teach us about the cycle of hate and vengeance, it would’ve been better if ND built up a story where the users could see the initial effects of losing her father and how severely that has impacted throughout life. All we get is a nobody killing off our loved character and forced to understand her perspective.

And do I have to talk about the messed up romance scene? No, I don’t think I will.

The brutality. Oh boy, where do I begin. For a game that wanted to promote understanding and empathy, ND sure did a great job letting us killing enemies in the most brutal form possible. Did we really need to witness a piece of brain sticking onto a golf club? Or a pregnant woman dying?
Some critics are now generalizing the mass of negative reviewers as immature bigots who are (1) Refusing to see past the brutal treatment of Joel and (2) are antagonistic toward the SJW agenda and the trans community. What they do not realize, is that if those biases were true, the Naughty Dog fanbase would have criticized games like the TLOU: Left Behind and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. There are plenty of games that present different sexual orientations and ideals, but you don’t see a mass of people rallying to give poor reviews.

Gamers are just as well rational and understanding as the prominent critics. We are not some close-minded “bigots” who refuse to empathize with progressive thinking. If you are seeing a massive pushback from the general population, maybe it’s worth looking at the problem rather than going against the gamers. Remember Naughty Dog, WE WANTED TO LOVE THE SECOND GAME JUST AS WE DID FOR THE FIRST ONE.

If the general fanbase is the problem, just look at all the prominent game streamers. Were their reception so welcoming?

Game critics are denying the fact that they were paid or given incentives to give glowing reviews on the TLOU 2. However, what they don’t tell you is that they are consciously (or unconsciously) obligated to protect their brand and the relationship with Naughty Dog. Given that the first TLOU received such glowing reviews, they’re put into a position where they cannot give lower scores in fear of being outcasted from other reviewers. All these critics simply played it safe. Imagine a scenario where you were a senior writer in a prominent game review platform and were given the copy of the game a week before the actual release. Naughty Dog, a major game company, asks you to review it (but with major restrictions on discussing about the game) and you know that the first TLOU received glowing reviews from other major critics and has a massive fanbase. Would you really be able to give negative reviews on it? Giving a negative review will (1) Draw major backlash from the fanbase who won’t be able to play for another week and (2) Make their brand look base in a sea of positive reviews from other prominent reviewers. Just look at what happened to the YouTube channel SkillUp. Some fans and critics bashed the poor guy for leaving a bad review.

If you want to play for an upgraded TLOU gameplay and graphics, please go ahead. It’s really an awesome game.

If you want to play for the story, I recommend saving that money and play something else.

~ Gameplay is nothing special. Either you like or dislike it.
the gameplay is just a bit more refined, than the first part
but everything in the gameplay has been done better in some form or fassion
there are better stealth in other games, there is shooting, and more
    - Enemies are most of the time dumb.
+ Levels are more open and feel better than the first part

    but the most important part:
    THE STORY:
    it is bad (BAD)
    - new Characters are flat and not compelling.
the game wants to justify their (horrific) actions after they already did them, by telling their backstory.
yet the backstory isnt interesting or good enough to get the player on their side
while playing the backstory, the only thing i want to do is GOING BACK TO THE MAIN STORY
    - old Characters, especialy Joel, are not the same or anyway close to how they were in the first part
it feels like "Star Wars The Last Jedi" all over again
the game tries to change your memories of the old characters, in a non compelling/unrealistic way
    - the Story is the basic, Standart, uninspired Revenge Plot
and the worst part is HOW the Story starts this whole plot.
    - the clickers (however the undead are exactly called) are litteraly only in the game, so you have something to shot at
    - the first game had this deeper meening of love and hope (and more), this game has left that behind for something like "hOw FaR ArE YoU GoInG tO gO fOr ReVeNgE?"
    (The cycle of Revenge)
but it gives us no choise to do something different,
and while i understand, the game is ment to be linear, even a monkey would understand its mistakes after the tenth time or so.
There are just to many other ways of telling us about the Cycle of Revenge.
    - At the same time it tries to show how characters react and change after they killed a human in a cutscene, BUT IT HAS NO IMPACT.
I LITTERALY killed a hundred other men/women before with NO reaction and suddenly this?
    - at Last the First Last of Us was great at switching brutal combat to a more hopefull, peacefull enivrement.
after a longer shootout, it takes time to tell a story
it gives your brain time to relax
Part 2 loses itself the more you play it.
it starts fairly "calm", yet not even 2 hours its "BAM, Revenge plot", kill them all.
it's like some sufferingporn, just one bad thing after the other
and while I understand why it is there, there just comes a moment, where it just stopes impressing me and it just gets boring
    - At last the first game had this "Light" you could look towards
tlou2 has lost it, completely, Its completely in the dark
    - The first game was nearly perfect, arguably one of the best games of all time,
it didnt need a sequell, especially this one
    - I remember Neil saying "There are no Protagonists/Heroes"
well, congrats, Then Why Should I Play The Game?
(- and no its not because of Joel)

    - game didnt work with me, and as I see, it didnt word with the majority as well.

    so in the End:
while yes the Graphics/Sound is the best we have ever had
and while the gameplay may be truly good
It still is a Sequel to the first part, but it feels like a bad writen FANFICTION, written by a gyu with no knowledge in fictionwritting and who was drunk the hole time.
Its like some mix between "DCs Darkness", "The Last Jedi" with its inconsistent, blank, dumb characters and "Game of Thrones: Season 8", just NO. not even the greatest Graphics/Gameplay can save this Sheithouse of a Story (How the hell did the Critics give it a 95?, its like they didnt play this game at all, (or less than an hour)) - 3 points for Graphics/Sound - 2 point for Gameplay, (hit or miss) - -1 for story A small tipp: If you already bought the game, I AM SORRY for you If you HAVENT bought part 2, DONT BUY IT, no recomendation just play/replay the first part, its awesome.

Great storytelling ND. Well done. Loved the first one, but this is an insult to all the fans out there. I will definitely think twice, before I purchase another game from this studio. Especially, with their political agenda thrown right into my face.

The game is such a mess on many levels the game dosen't respect the middle eastern and muslim countries since they included LGBT content and naughty dog know it will get banned in these countries, although the the first part was played by a lot of middle eastern and muslim gamers.I think this was intentional since the vice prsident of naughty dog is isreali. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm just gonna be straight up honest here. I played the first TLOU several times through and loved everything about it. The seven year wait until TLOU2 was tough, but I had such high hopes for it after the all the love that was put into the first.

I got the game on release and finished it a few hours ago. I have to admit, I did find it incredibly hard to carry on playing after a very questionable and unexpected death of the beloved character, Joel. This isn't the main reason why I can't bring myself to give this game a positive review, but it did suck to see a character that you grew to like and had such big expectations for his and Ellie's paths in TLOU2 get taken out in such a...pointless way. It honestly felt that all the things they went through in the first was just tossed out the window.

I found myself being unable to feel anything for the new characters that were introduced. The new antagonist brought in I felt was just extremely bland and unoriginal. I feel revenge plots are just so overused these days and bring nothing unique to games. However, I did push on as I wanted to experience the whole game and see how it all ended.

When I reached the ending I have to admit that I was glad it was over. Having Ellie go through the entire game killing multiple people in order to get her revenge for the death of the man who had protected her and loved her as his own daughter, only to allow the character who killed him to go free. This just adds to the pointless killings that she had done throughout the game leading up to this moment. I get that they wanted Ellie to realise that her killing Abby would just make her the same as her, but it's the fact she killed so many people to get to Abby, only to let her live.

The storyline just ruined the entire game for me. Very badly written and dull. Revenge plots are just extremely unfun to play after you've seen it done before.

    The positives from this game:

    - Incredibly beautiful graphics. Hard to believe it's on the PS4 at times. Amazing job by the designers.

    - Voice acting on point as always! They get the emotions through very well.

    - Environment. Great settings and very well made for certain scenes.

    - Soundtrack is always a pleasure to listen to.

Reason for my score is sadly because, for me, the negatives outweigh the positives too much. I hope they learn from this feedback and can understand that I'm not leaving a bad review just for the sake of it. It does make me sad to be leaving a score this low, but my hopes were crushed.

I will start with the good, graphics have improved greatly, sound design is amazing. The gameplay has seen some minor improvements but if you weren’t a fan of the first games gameplay then this one might be lacking for you. In terms of player freedom this game is extremely lacking and very linear. In terms of length this story is longer than the first but at times it is tedious to play.I will start with the good, graphics have improved greatly, sound design is amazing. In terms of player freedom this game is extremely lacking and very linear. In terms of length this story is longer than the first but at times it is tedious to play. Now for the bad, the character development is sorely lacking compared to the first game and many of the characters lack continuity in their behaviors and actions, there are numerous plot holes and some questionable story telling in terms of jumping from present to flashbacks in a somewhat scattered manner. Had this been a stand alone title it probably would have been better but because it’s a part of something that was so well done it’s not something I can recommend because it leaves the series worse than it found it.

So I was super excited to play as Joel and Ellie again. Well that’s not what you get. You know what you get? Playing as another character that looks like the biggest feminist on roids who kills my favorite character in the stupidest way possible! Did they not look back to see why people liked the first one? Because of Joel and Ellie. This game sucks! Expand

iam not against a bit of social justice but they force it in a game where it shouldnt matter just to have it in their game bs

Maybe instead of ignoring the critiques you should listen what they have to say and argue with the people

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
