    Indeed a really good and emotional game. But a game for people with a soul and passion for great a great story. Gamers that think that frame rate and few technical issues are the most important thing maybe don't like every aspect of the game, but even in theses camps, The Last Guardian is already another Playstation legend. Play it.

    There are too many games that are mechanical, rigid, repetitive and boring.
    This is different. This is Trico, an organic and truly lifelike creature that make you wholeheatedly invest your emotions in and care about. This is the true meaning of immersion and fantasy.
    No control or camera flaw could justify you not living this lifetime experience of a game.

    I love this game. I know it's not for everyone. But i find it really refreshing. I think it's even better than ICO. I think i'll replay that one again. For all the people complaining about the graphics, what are you talking about? it's beautiful! I'm playing on PS4 Pro...so my framerate only dipped twice in 13 hours. Hopefully a patch could smooth that out for standard PS4. But thisI love this game. I know it's not for everyone. But i find it really refreshing. I think it's even better than ICO.     I love it!

    For me it's about empathy with this creature, it really reminds me of how smart my Dog is, how smart animals are and how we shouldn't be cruel to them. It really makes me want to rise up against farming or the Chinese who are just evil and do not care about life. This is how I see the game and it's so powerful emotionally for me. Gameplay mechanics do not enter my head    I love it!

    + I do want to add that people moan about how hard it is to get Trico to follow commands.... for me personally it just feels natural, my Dog doesn't do things instantly either, he has his own mind and he doesn't speak English, he has to work things out. If you're trying to come at the angle of just a pure game... you wont like it, it's all about empathy.    … Expand

    This game is just pure magic. It has an amazing atmosphere. And the relationship between Trico and the boy is enjoyable. Good story and graphics. Must have.

    Trico is the best animated creature being ever created in a video game. A story that touches the heart and an impressive atmosphere. The camera and framerate are minor problems in this masterpiece that no one can miss. Best Team ICO game.

It's not the funnest, most innovative or graphically astounding, but the journey between you and the beast trico is one I will never forget in video gaming history. It is a journey through a mysterious world that keeps you on your feet, and it will put you on a roller coaster of emotions throughout the game. It's a game that is masterfully crafted, I cannot believe how happy I was there was little to no story, a mostly empty world, and every obstacle that needed two things, you and trico. The puzzles were basic but always required you and trico to work together. Everything in the game immersed you into believing you needed each other, and watching the relationship grow from growling to whimpering when you jump off high ledges is a magical thing. The variety of obstacles and pacing of story was amazing, I can't tell you how many times I genuinely smiled throughout the game, because of either how surprised at the variety of gameplay I was, or how far me and trico had come since the start. The fact Trico is also the most life like A.I companion at such grand of an scale is great, it made me believe I had to earn it's trust. The best comparison I can give this game is telltale's walking dead season 1, but this one is miles better because of actual gameplay/puzzles and unpredictability of an non-human companion. The only downfall of this game is the technical issues (framerate and camera issues), but it really isn't that bad, the framerate got really bad at times sporadically, but it really is a non-factor to my enjoyment of the game. A lot of critics also hate the camera, I can say it really isn't that bad; camera gave me problems in tight spaces, but I had no camera problems during actual puzzle solving or important parts of the game. To end, masterfully crafted, beautifully told story and journey with you and the beast trico, one of the most memorable game experiences I've had. This is a game I recommend everyone try at least once. The level of enjoyment you get will depend on the level of immersion you get in this game's world. (which isn't that what gaming is for?)… Expand

    This game is a masterpiece, grow the **** up and look over the control and camera issues and you'll have an amazing story and beautifully crafted world.

    The ten year prophecy has come true-- The Last Guardian is finally here. Haven't finished it yet, but if you like Shadow of the Colossus and Ico, don't think twice, just buy the game. A true exhibition of the artistic merit of games and the emotional response they can evince.

    Sure its actually a remaster of a game originally intended for PS3, so there are some little frame-rate, camera or indoor design hick-ups. But nonetheless it looks beautiful, plays just good enough I never had any real gameplay problems (as all the reviewers trying so bitterly present) and most of all makes you feel real emotions.     Just finished it today. This game is such an amazing experience...The story and soundtracks are lovely. By the end of the game, the bond between you(player) and Trico is real. No game can ever make me feel emotionally attached to an animal, but this game has done it with ease. It has many flaws such as frame rate and other performance issues, but the pros are so outstanding that itJust finished it today.     Breathtaking. Beautiful. Ethereal. Emotive. Consistent. Fantastic. Mythical. Wondrous. Authentic. Emphatic. Immersive. Engaging.

    Just a few words that reflect my experience of traversing through The Last Guardian. A genuine empathetic experience like no other - seriously.

    A crowning achievement in vision, design and execution.

    This is one of the best games of the decade, if you like puzzle/platformers, a good story, great characters, and a slower pace without any guns. The camera is not as bad as people say. It does do some wonky things, but never at critical times. The frame rate is also fine. Yeah, it stutters a bit, but mostly when Trico jumps, which is basically like a cutscene. These are not PS2 and PS3 graphics people. Look at how huge the landscape is. Look at the fancy particle effects. Look at how lifelike Trico is. Those things take resources.
    The gameplay is a lot like Ico, and a bit like Shadow of the Colossus. If you haven't played those, you should try to if you can. The gameplay is also a lot like the Tomb Raider games from the 2000s, minus the guns. It is like God of War minus the hack and slash combat. It is like a 3D version of Limbo or Inside.
    I absolutely hate shooting games, but I gave The Last of Us a try because I like good stories and characters. If you feel the same way about puzzle/platformers, maybe you should give it a try.
    If I didn't already own a PS4 I would have bought one just to play this game and I would not be disappointed. Trico is absolutely amazing. If he doesn't do what you want after a few levels/areas, you probably aren't giving him the right commands. Or maybe you need to feed him more.
    This might not be a game for everybody, but it is a classic, and you should really keep an open mind and give it a try.    … Expand

    Just finished it. Astonishing and best game I've played this year. I was expecting to be frustrated by Trico's AI based on what I'd heard but other than getting stuck at one point (which wasn't due to Trico rather my getting a puzzle wrong) I had no issues. Trico is the most astonishing game creation I've ever witnessed. If you have a bit of soul you'll love this. Highly recommended.

    First things first, the animations in this game are the best I've ever seen in a videogame.
    Some people consider "graphics" the still frames, rendering and lights only. In reality, the animations in this game bring it in the realm of excellence. If you are a fan of great animations, this game should not be missed.

    How sweet is trico. The game is not "so terrible" as some people is saying. Totaly worth it. Strongly recomended for ico and shadow of the colossus fans.

    Wow, an absolute masterpiece! Never felt such a strong bond with an on screen character in a video game before. Puzzles and pacing are fantastic, graphics are very good due to art style and phenomenal vistas. Tricos AI is the best I have seen in a videogame, he doesn't always listen (which will frustrate impatient players) but what pet does unless you grow a strong bond and trust which isWow, an absolute masterpiece!     In summary this game has surpassed ICO and SOTC for me, has well been worth the wait and I recommend all to experience.

    This game is Amazing! I can't wait to play through it again this weekend! You won't regret the purchase, this is game of the year material and it's a shame it is only 15 hours long. But there's still a lot more to do that I didn't do my first playthrough.

    I thought Uncharted 4 was perhaps the best puzzle-platformer ever. Last Guardian is even more creative and inventive. Some caveats:

    - Not for young kids at all. You have to consult with others or online to solve many puzzles. - Trico the animal's AI is spectacular. It effectively mimics how animals "think" before making a choice or decision. HOWEVER every player reports places    I thought Uncharted 4 was perhaps the best puzzle-platformer ever. Last Guardian is even more creative and inventive. Some caveats:

    It's also exactly a cross between Ico and Shadow of Collosus--and it works, a high work of game art.

    It also helps if you appreciated the golden age of 3D platformers 2004-2009. Think Ratchet & Clank, Jak 3, Psychonauts, Tak 2 and Tak 3. In conception, Last Guardian is precisely of this thinking. The only story is solving the puzzles. It's all solving puzzles--some of the best ever devised with the best supporting emotional effects and level design.    … Expand

    A Very emotional Story and the world just pulls you in because it is so beautiful.
    It is a calm game and unlike anything else this generation.
    Over all, Good story, memorable characters, lovely environments, calm music

    Amazing game! Interesting story, charming graphics, cool animations and tons of emotions... this is The Last Guardian! This unique game! If you like ICO and Shadow of the Collossus - buy The Last Guardian, you will love this game.

    The last guardian is made for everyone. Its a unique experience never saw before in my long game road (aprox. 30 years). This game shows how do a immersive storytelling with normal graphics and envirorment can did!.

    This game's has the same camera and gameplay issues likewise entire Ico series but the relationship of yourself and the creature's awesome!

    It was a completely absorbing game that I just did not wish to stop playing. Even when I took the occasional break, my thoughts seemed to always drift back to this fantasy world. If you've played and enjoyed ICO and Shadow of the Colossus then the Last Guardian will not disappoint.

    This is a game for few people...go play cod instead..i guess the people giving 0 never played Ico or SotC..the game sure has its problem with slme mechanics..but it s nothing in front of this masterpiece of story e realtionship between the two

    Aside from some minor camera and AI issues, The Last Guardian is the game you've been waiting for. If you've been following this project, the outcome won't disappoint you, and if you haven't, you can discover a beautiful game that is a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

    More info:
    Controls - 1-4 out of 10, depending on a situation (yes, the wining did not come from nothing this time around);
    Gameplay - 6 out of 10, since the puzzles and platforming sequences are not challenging (and yes - the control and camera issues do not "help" here, no, apologies);
    Sound/Music - 9/10 and 7/10 (not a whole lot of music there, unfortunately, thus the lower score even though the music itself is really nice);
    Performance - PS4 Pro with supersamling enabled give a 30-40 frames/sec, which is qood for this game;
    Visuals (tech.) - 7/10 (there are a lot of small details, especially for Trico);
    Visuals (aesthetics) - 10/10 (the game often looks jaw dropping);
    Story - 8/10 (slightly mysterious tale of a friendship).

    Summary:
    If You're here for swordfighting game or some fast-paced action - there's nothing for You here. The main star here is obviously this creature, Trico. It is totally believable. It is alive. This is not just another piece of code and result of work in 3d editor. It is a pure result of love, caring, devotion. It is one big emotion. One that You should not miss.    … Expand

    This game like Ico and Shadow of the colossus take my tears and my heart. Games who gives these emotions are rares. The game has some technichal issues but it's a masterpiece anyway.

    This game takes some of the best elements from Ico and SoTC and turns them into it's own unique game. If you really have the patience to deal with Toriko (Trico), this might be the best adventure game you would play this year or even this generation yet!

    Probably the most moving game I played all year. The controls are a little clunky and the camera frustrating, but I could overlook these minor annoyances. Felt like I was playing a game from past. Not a bad feel.

None of us have seen The Last Guardian before. You will actually connect with a fantasy videogame creature on an emotional level.     This game is a true masterpiece! That ending really got me! Had to hug my dog really hard, this game made me realize how much I love him! The controls are a bit annoying sometimes, but the whole experiences is a blast! A very story driven game, with really smart puzzles and very intriguing characters! Another masterpiece from Team ICO!

    You haven't ever experienced something like this.

    This game is not perfect, but it's a masterclass piece of entertainment that will rattle you to your core. I laughed, I screamed, I cried. The boy's relationship with Trico is best understood by feelings, not words, like the best pieces of cinema that I love. Well worth the wait.

    Je ne l'est pas encore tout à fait terminé, mais on sens vraiment que les développeurs on fait des efforts sur ce jeu.     Es el juego más bonito que he jugado nunca, me gustan muchísimo este tipo de juegos como Brother, pero este The Last Guardian supera a todos, es increíble como se mueve Trico, ¡¡está ahi, es real!!. Tiene sus errores como los gráficos que no son punteros y bajada de fps, pero toda la magia que desprende eclipsa todo lo demás.

    Si no te gustan estos juegos....lo verás como un bodrio.

    No muchos juegos se arriesgan a introducir mecánicas incomodas para trasmitir una realidad, lo cual lo combiérte en un juego brillante, y aunque si que es cierto que tiene momentos(algunas cinemáticas) donde podrían haber aprovechado para mostrar nuevas mecánicas y darle mas inmersión el resto de apartados son sublimes perfectamente medidos como una gran orquesta que cierra esta trilogia

    We didnt just travel and fight side by side. We developed a bond over time and we helped each other. Keep in mind though that while he will do his part in finding the way home, he can never be tamed completely. He can be moody and stubborn sometimes. It made me reflect on my life raising my daughter. She is never in a hurry to listen to your commands but, given enough coaxing, she will do what is needed.
    The suspense of the experience was palpable. It can be slowed down by exploration puzzles but it was always rewarding when the path became clear. I highly recommend playing with headphones. The sounds of our friend Trico, the echo of caverns, the sparse yet lovely music, the smashing of rock and brick all ring in your ears with reality and urgency.
    What a gorgeous, touching adventure. It is a contender for my favorite games of all time. Frustrating at times, it was all worth the sweat and worry. I will forever remember this one. And be sure to stick around for the post credits scene. I hope we get more emotionally, character driven stories full of suspense and greatness in the exciting future of "gaming".    … Expand

    Oh Gosh, this game is a masterpiece! I have never felt so emotional over a game before that after completing it - I was empty for a while. Gameplay is a little bit wobbly, FPS is low but I can completely forgive, that didn't ruin my experience at all.
    Definitely one of the top games for me.

I never felt frustrated during my experience and played through almost all of the game in one day. I just couldn't stop.
    The camera is flawed at times but that's down to navigating small corridors with a giant beast. It never became a hindrance though, just an occasional annoyance. I also noticed the frame rate dropped in a couple of areas but again it didn't interrupt my enjoyment.
    Some of the environments are a little too similar, a lot of ruins but there's enough variation to keep it interesting and I found the art work to be so beautiful I couldn't complain. Of course trico looks fantastic but the boy was also very well designed. I haven't been so drawn in by a game in quite some time and if you feel like trying a game which is less action focused and more about experiencing a story and feeling part of a journey between two soon to be best friends then I say go for it.     Probably the most moving game I played all year. The controls are a little clunky and the camera frustrating, but I could overlook these minor annoyances. Felt like I was playing a game from past. Not a bad feel.

    It was a completely absorbing game that I just did not wish to stop playing. Even when I took the occasional break, my thoughts seemed to always drift back to this fantasy world. If you've played and enjoyed ICO and Shadow of the Colossus then the Last Guardian will not disappoint.

    Emotional masterpiece. Reminded me of the emotion I felt playing Journey, but this had a lot more emotion in it. I would say I WAS attached to Trico, but in reality, I still am. Japan Studios, I applaud you. The gameplay was fun and got more complex the further in you got. The fluidity of the game and the interactions with Trico really made the game what it is: a game to remember.

    This game is awesome. The frames rate on my ps4 pro was constantly good and trico did what I wanted him to do quickly.
    This game has spirit and heart and is a masterpiece. Ueda is finally back

    People complain about this game's lack of story. Team Ico games never have a story that is fully spelled out. In Shadow of the Colossus and Ico the stories are blatant "wtf just happened here?" head scratchers. I think this developer has always been about experiencing their surroundings and characters. Does this game control poorly? No it really doesn't. Spamming the controls like a moron will cause Trico to essentially lock up. You have to be patient. Everyone getting this game should have known what they were getting into. It's basically all the player's fault if they expected Trico to follow their commands immediately. Everything in the promotional material makes it clear that this creature was programmed to not do that.

    I'd say no. No it is not. Actually, **** those who use that as an argument. Its not like this is a kick starter game that took 10 years to make. Or 4 million dollars of your own money. You had 0 monetary investment in this so why even care how long it took? Performance wise, nobody can objectively say it’s a bad game. There are nitpicks and buggy things like any game, but nothing about it has convinced me there’s anything legitimately poorly made or broken. This is probably why they harp on about the delays.     one of the best games i have ever played... the wait was woth it, in this game no matter the graphics here is more important the story and its so beautiful

    A masterpiece! 10/10 even despite the camera & control issues. One of the best video games ever made, if not the best video game ever! Trico is one of the best video game characters ever! Feels like you're playing a movie! You will fall in love with Trico!

    The game is incredible, Trico has an awesome AI, I really love the game, worth the wait, It has a very interesting story and full of emotions, it has very negative reviews because the game DEFINITELY is not for everyone. If you like different games The Last Guardian you may like it.

    Simply amazing...... It has minor technical flaws, but the game is just genious, an incredible experience.... people giving it bad reviews are just spoiled,...... having perfect camera and controls is something so recent in games, you wouldn't believe how many gems you'll miss if you care too much for this.....

    Play the game people! You won't regret!

    After 7 years in what seems to be development hell, Team Ico finally introduces us to the majestic Trico and its heartfelt relationship with a young protagonist. While the long development cycle does show its age in certain parts up to a point of some frustration. The experience as a whole is one of the most unique ever.

    The Last guardian is indeed suffering from some technical and control input issues, but its warm, beautiful adventure filled with countless touching moments is something we’ll never forget for the rest of our lives. The Last Guardian is not just a game, it’s an absolute work of art.

    The Last Guardian doesn't just live up to its forebears' legacy, it goes further. Despite the callbacks to Fumito Ueda's previous works, it is a unique creation. Outside of indie experiments, we don't get to say that about modern videogames often enough.
