    I really tried to like this game but the way it controls is just infuriating. So slow and sluggish, half the time you’re just standing there waiting to see if Trico will do the thing you want it to. Couldn’t get through more than a couple of hours

    Comment décrire ce truc… sinon dire que c’est un gamin qui promène Médor, un gros, certes, très gros clébard un brin demeuré… dans des espèces de ruines très verticales (des précipices tous les 20 mètres).

    L’interface est minimaliste, tout comme l’histoire (mais quelle histoire au juste ? on ne sait pas) alors qu’on tente de progresser tant bien que mal dans cet environnement joliment    Comment décrire ce truc… sinon dire que c’est un gamin qui promène Médor, un gros, certes, très gros clébard un brin demeuré… dans des espèces de ruines très verticales (des précipices tous les 20 mètres).

    L’interface est minimaliste, tout comme l’histoire (mais quelle histoire au juste ? on ne sait pas) alors qu’on tente de progresser tant bien que mal dans cet environnement joliment fait mais qui file la migraine et donne mal aux yeux : en effet, ce jeu ne tourne que très rarement à 30 im/s, il se traîne sans arrêt entre 20 et 25, il rame, il saccade tout le temps !

    Quand il faut ajouter à cette misère la caméra absolument épouvantable qui fait n’importe quoi (elle tourne dans tous les sens lorsqu’on grimpe ou on descend, elle zoome et dézoome… elle est soûle, cette caméra !) et dans certaines phases de plateformes, elle se bloque inopinément et vous empêche de pouvoir tout regarder sur les côtés par exemple…!

    Enfin, les énigmes régulières laissent perplexes et aucune aide, aucun indice ne sont disponibles… Vu que le jeu est un étron technique qui fatigue énormément, on se lasse de chercher une quelconque solution assez vite. On y reviendra peut-être… si on a que ça à faire… je me demande si le jeu tourne correctement sur PS5. Mais vu comment la rétro-compatibilité est gérée chez Sony, j’ai comme un doute !    … Expand

This is particularly inexcusable, because with the gameplay stripped down to its bare bones, you'd think that the few controls and interactions left in would be smooth. This isn't the case, though; the kid controls like a dump truck, commands to Trico often don't work, etc. The puzzles are largely obtuse and within a couple of hours become extremely repetitive.Horrible, horrible controls. This is particularly inexcusable, because with the gameplay stripped down to its bare bones, you'd think that the few controls and interactions left in would be smooth. Buggy AI from Trico, the creature upon whom you depend to clear a majority of puzzles. Story is nonexistent for well over half the game. Great visuals and ultimately somewhat interesting story do not make up for the abysmal gameplay and uninspired puzzles. I could not in good conscience recommend this game to anyone. If you're interested in the story, I'd recommend saving yourself the pain and just watching a let's play on YouTube. This "game," if you can even call it that, is an absolute disaster.… Expand

    Yes, it may have flaws. But this is a unique gem you can find for yourself. You will get unique gameplay, you will get personal relationships with the characters, you will love unique world and its visuals, you will enjoy unique music. You will get something like this only from unique people once in 10 years. Bravo and please let you new ideas be implemented in new brilliant games like this.

    This game should more short and intense, to be qualified like good experience, yes its kinda deep and spritual or act deep and spiritual but instead of shadow of the colossus remake . The physic realism strangely stop when you juste need to put the barrel 3 cm up but no you cant you need to throw it 256 times to the other platform so he can fall and stabilize. The graphics are prehistoric but the AD is good i like the way the game look even with the blinding brightness.
    The game have full points with the experience and deep spiritual things okay i really liked trico, much less the kid( because of the **** physic I suppose). The puzzles are good , the game is not punishing you at any time it helps with the gameplay frustration.
    Finally we don’t have mythical OST like colossus i don’t remember any maybe because there are any.    … Expand

    It was an average experience. It wasn't a bad game, but it wasn't really a good game either.

    The function of the buttons in this game was not standard, for example, the character of the game jumps with the triangle button instead of the X button, which was not compatible with the habits of us gamers. (This problem does not affect the score I gave to the game)

    The Last Guardian (2016) has a nice environment that is sure breathtaking to look at and the brilliant story on top of it is great. But my personal problem with the game is the gameplay, it's not exactly the type of gameplay that I enjoy in most games, The game is great but it's probably not a game you would have a lot of fun playing.

    UNEXPECTED PRESENCE:
    Fumito Ueda's new title, after more than 10 very long years, gladdens us with its typical game design touch; the first few seconds of the game are taken up by a very authorial cutscene, showing depictions of mythological and ancient creatures with, among them, a depiction of the monster we are going to get to know from there shortly. Most of the intro turns out to be extremely mysterious as it is left to interpretation since, once the cutscene is over, we will suddenly find ourselves inside a cave, where we will get acquainted with Trico, this giant winged creature,chained and severely injured. The initial objective of the player and the little protagonist will be to take the first steps with Trico, helping to heal him. These first sections of the game will mainly serve to explain the basic mechanics, as well as to discover the winged creature's abilities.

    FALLING DUE TO TRICO:
    The gameplay of The Last Guardian is both simple and challenging. Trivially it is a puzzle game, with small combat elements and the addition of a large dynamic NPC, Trico, who , unlike the girl from ICO, Ueda's first title, will have her own artificial intelligence. The variety of possible interactions with Trico is astounding; the game is entirely built on the interaction between the protagonist and Trico, with slightly variable challenges based on the AI, optional explorable areas, and many collectibles to get.
    Speaking of the puzzles, they reach the peak of the products made by Team Ico, with peculiar and situational mechanics, truly evocative areas that the player will have to pass through to continue his journey, and unpredictable and surprising events. Finally Combat comes across as rather bare and almost superfluous, being that most of the actions will be performed by the AI, and player interaction will be limited to knocking off the heads of enemies if stunned or giving nudges so as to unbalance enemies.

    PEEKING BEHIND THE MOUNTAINS:
    Like every title produced by this talented Software House, the aesthetic side of The Last Guardian is impressive. The use of aesthetics, coloring, and graphics that are very different from the crowd gives the game a personal touch. The use of the gray colors of the ruins combined with the green of the vegetation, the blue of the sky and the brown of the earth makes the sight of open areas a joy to behold. The architecture of decaying buildings combined with details of contraptions evidently from another era creates a thought-provoking combo of diversity and curiosity. The animations, moreover, are really studied to perfection and look accurate and natural in every situation. The only major flaw lies in the camera, which has an annoying switch when it approaches surfaces, giving a sense of nausea and annoying flicker of the view, especially when you are on Trico's back and pass close to walls or roofs.

    PERPETUAL ECHO:
    Once again this title is influenced by its predecessors, with very few OSTs and many ambient sounds. Unlike Ico, however, they do not affect the player's feelings so much and are bland. Note of credit to the invented language, usual touch of imagination and innovations of Ueda's titles.

    ACHIEVEMENTS:
    The achievements will unfortunately prove very tedious if simple. They require completing the game in flawless, speedrun and getting all the collectibles. The problem is more related to the stubbornness of Trico's AI, which will often not do what it is instructed to do, greatly lengthening the hours of gameplay and wearing anyone's patience to the limit.

    BUT WHY 8?

    PROS:
    Despite problems that will be discussed in the next point, The Last Guardian remains a beautiful game to experience, especially if you take it slowly, following Trico like a real animal who does not always understand orders from a human. As already mentioned the aesthetics and art design are very inspired and become enchanting at times. Finally there is a point of departure from its predecessors, namely the story, which is actually understandable and much more down-to-earth, leading to a surprise ending that can bring a smile to any player's face.

    CONS:
    Starting with a problem that could vary depending on the platform, severely ruining the gaming experience, the biggest problem that I primarily had trying this video game on the first PS4 is that of immense frame rate drops, with peaks of 5 fps, which can make the 'experience truly detestable, causing headaches and turnarounds. The second major problem is that of the AI; often exaggeratedly stubborn and stupid, it makes the game extremely slow and tedious, as well as frustrating if you are facing it in flawless or speed run.
    Finally, as already mentioned, the combat is uninteresting and always gives the impression of helplessness, not being able to do much of anything really.

    Game had massive delays and was in development hell. No Team Ico sequel to Shadow of the Colossus during ps3 though. No thanks, made us wait so long and it only came on ps4. Team Ico skipped from releasing a new ip for an entire gen. The Last Guardian plays like a ps3 game but released for ps4.

Трико напоминал во время игры моего бультерьера, этим накидывал ещё больше ответственности и сконцентрированности в процессе прохождения сюжета за виртуальное существо) Это 10 из 10, однозначно. Занимался прохождением на PS5.Честно говоря, открыл игру для себя относительно не давно. Очень понравилась, за её душевное взаимодействие в игровом мире.     Como todos los juegos de ese estudio, The Last Guardian tiene esa esencia maravillosa que lo hace tan especial. No es un juego para todos los públicos, pero a quien le guste de verdad le llegará al corazón.

It is a technical disaster and yet another prime example of why reviews can't be trusted. Puzzles are one of my favourite genres but I am struggling to think of a worse game. I'd understand if trico was unwilling to listen to you in the beginning but by the end of the game, he's still just as dumb. The frustration of dealing with him completely destroyed any connection I'm supposed to have with him.     As an origional fan of ICO, that fell in love with that game and thought Shadow of the Colosas was an interesting, inovative experience for its time, I was very disappointed with The Last Guardian. The game is just jenky, frustrating and dosent have the heart of those first 2 games. In replacement of a cute love interest there's an anouying animal that is just confusing and infuriatingAs an origional fan of ICO, that fell in love with that game and thought Shadow of the Colosas was an interesting, inovative experience for its time, I was very disappointed with The Last Guardian. The game is just jenky, frustrating and dosent have the heart of those first 2 games. In replacement of a cute love interest there's an anouying animal that is just confusing and infuriating to interact with. The DNA of the early games are here, but the execution is off. Honestly I rage quit this game in frustration and I haven't done that in decades. The controls are just terible, they are a fkn joke..And I'm a person that defends tank controls and the variation of controls found in the PS2 era. I luv learning new controls, but the controls in Guardian are Russian rullet, fk knows what a button press or movement of the stick will do.. they suck..… Expand

    II think 8 is the perfect score for this game. It was good, but it didn't left impact on me. I mean, i got bonded with the creature but it was not a emotional rollercoaster as i thought it would be. But game is unique,which is good.

    Absolutely deplorable controls. It feels like the devs considered playability beneath their artistic vision of what the game represents; or this is a deliberate choice. In any case, a beautiful looking game with presumably good story shouldn't be painful to actually PLAY. Also wish they'd remove the 30fps cap for PS5.

    Nos entregan básicamente un juego de    The Last Guardian es un juego del team ICO, a los que los aficionados a la industria y a la ya vieja PS2 conocerán por entregar dos de los mejores juegos de su catálogo; Ico y Shadow of the colossus. The Last Guardian fue el siguiente paso en el escalón de Fumito Ueda y su equipo y la verdad es que visto con perspectiva, tardaron pero no fallaron.

    Nos entregan básicamente un juego de plataformas y resolución de puzzles, en el que tendremos que llevar a los dos protagonistas; un niño desconocido y un enorme animal mitológico que nos puede recordar a un grifo, desde una profunda mazmorra a un destino incierto, tratando de salir del extraño lugar donde estamos confinados; una extraña y titánica fortaleza en ruinas incrustada en una montaña.

    Los puntos fuertes del juego son sin duda su historia, la fuerte carga emocional de la misma y el impresionante diseño artísitico, como no podía ser de otro modo. La ambientación es de 10 rotundo y sin discusión, como así lo son los escenarios y los puzzles.

    Tiene entonces algún problema el juego? Por desgracia sí y es importante: La imprecisión del control, dentro de lo que se puede englobar lo difícil que puede ser a veces ordenar a nuestro compañero animal que haga ciertas cosas. Las indicaciones en ese caso del juego son muy escuetas, pretende que la interacción con el enorme animal sea lo más realista posible, apoyándose en una I.A. muy acertada, ojo, pero a veces un poco desesperante. Y el control del propio niño es de la misma manera impreciso, de tal manera que puede que por culpa de ello te encuentres con la muerte en alguna ocasión, gritándole a la pantalla "yo no he hecho eso, no te he ordenado saltar ahi!!".

    Quitando este inconveniente, el juego es maravilloso, la historia de fantasía y amistad que nos propone, los preciosos y devastados escenarios marca de la casa (imposible no mirar atrás y recordar shadow of the colossus e Ico) son sin duda ya historia de los videojuegos. Es un exclusivo de Playstation y un must play de la plataforma en mi opinión. Actualmente seguro se puede encontrar a buen precio. Merece la pena    … Expand

    Unplayable. I wasted 45 minutes of my life and couldn't even get out the first cave, the dumb AI kept knocking me off the wall where I think I was meant to crouch through a hole and leave.

    This game is actually worse to play than omikron nomad soul and just as cryptic. If I wanted to spend an afternoon locked in a room with uncooperative idiots that don't know what they are meant to be    Unplayable.     This game is actually worse to play than omikron nomad soul and just as cryptic. If I wanted to spend an afternoon locked in a room with uncooperative idiots that don't know what they are meant to be doing I would go to work.

    I'd read mixed reviews before I played it but thought I'd give it the benefit of the doubt seeing as I loved ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. Unfortunately, all the negative stuff turned out to be absolutely true, and virtually game-breaking.

    The camera is SHOCKING, there were numerous times when my entire screen went completely black. I wondered if it had frozen on me, but no, the camera was stuck inside a wall or another object and therefore I couldn't see anything.

    The AI of Trico is unbelievably frustrating, and super unreliable and inconsistent. Yes, some may argue this makes it more genuine given its a random untrained creature, however the result is simply an unenjoyable and immersion-breaking experience. Sometimes you'll get stuck in a section, trying to figure out the "puzzle" and way to progress. You'll be questioning yourself: "I swear this is what I need to do, but it's not working, so I'll try something else..." Only to discover five minutes later you WERE doing the right thing and it was just the AI not cooperating or doing what you were instructing it to do.

    There are also multiple instances where you will die, but at no fault of your own. Either due to poor control and mechanics (especially climbing), or Trico may just decide to swat you off the edge of a castle while trying to attack the baddies.

    I'm ok of I fail at something due to my lack of skill or knowledge, but to fail due to something completely out of your control is proper rage-inducing.

    Some of the puzzles are interesting, but too often they're ruined by the aforementioned frustration and continuous trial and error. And many of the puzzles are just bland and unimaginative.

    I do not recommend this, not even for fans of the previous games. While there's a nice story or message buried somewhere, it's just not worth the pain of unearthing it and all the crap you've got to trudge through to get there.    … Expand

    I enjoyed playing the game while the clunky controls let me. the story was good for me and the ending had to carry most of it. The thing is I do not find myself to play it again.

    Totally unplayable on PS5 as there is huge input lag there. Sony is not even tried to fix it before giving this game via PS+ Collection.

After maybe 50 tries I did it stayed put twice, and the first time it did, my character model collided with it attempting to grab it and pushed it off the ledge it hung on. There is no way that **** design was intentional on an artistic level. It turned a very mundane task into a nigh impossible feat. It's so bad, im considering ending my playthrough altogether.     This game is terrible. I didn't even bother trying to get out of the first area, as the only clue was the narrator, which of course was only available in Japanese or some Asian language. The only translation where clunky subtitles, breaking the line mid sentence. The graphics are also terrible, the moment the game starts a really blurry close up shot of a talisman in the ground or something. The controls are even more clunky than the subtitles, you are either running or awkwardly standing and staring at something in front of you, In addition the game reacts after 3 seconds of pressing any button.     The game as a whole remains with the same quality as its predecessors with a good soundtrack and beautiful graphics although dated, all of this serving to place us in yet another of Fumito Ueda's Fabulas where we are experiencing a cut in time not a complete narrative.

    This added to Trico's AI that can perfectly emulate a domestic animal, sometimes petting sometimes stubborn creates unique moments that are the strongest point of the game.
    However this doesn't erase the somewhat dragging rhythm, repetitive puzzles and camera and gameplay failures, I recommend this game mainly for ICO Fans, for those who don't know the series or just played SOTC, wait for a slower game that hits a lot in its core mechanics but it is weak in the rest.    … Expand

    Sin lugar a dudas, este juego termina siendo el juego distinto, casi una obra maestra, único en su especie en la generación de PS4. Un juego que tuvo una eterna espera, tuvo que pasar una generación completa para salir (se supone que saldría para PS3), pero al final la espera fue grata.
    Lo bueno del juego es que mantiene el espíritu de sus antecesores, un juego minimalista, contemplativo ,    Sin lugar a dudas, este juego termina siendo el juego distinto, casi una obra maestra, único en su especie en la generación de PS4. Un juego que tuvo una eterna espera, tuvo que pasar una generación completa para salir (se supone que saldría para PS3), pero al final la espera fue grata.
    Lo bueno del juego es que mantiene el espíritu de sus antecesores, un juego minimalista, contemplativo , reflexivo y en donde tienes que observar cada detalle de tu entorno para encontrar el camino a una pronta salida. En cuanto a los personajes, te haces parte de su amistad y cariño mutuo, con un final muy conmovedor. Lo malo sigue siendo las cámaras que complica tu trayecto, también la mecánica de juego a la hora de tratar de soltarte de Trico o moverte por su cuerpo, por momentos tiene baja de frames muy notorios. Por lo demás son solo tecnicismos que no tienen nada que ver con la historia y el juego en sí.
    En estos tiempos de pandemia es un juego imprescindible para aprovechar su pausado camino entre tanto juegos vertiginosos. Para cerrar, creo que se hubiese convertido en un juego de culto como ICO o Shadow of the Colosus si hubiese salido en PS3 como estaba estimado en un principio. The other utter screaming frustration is your creature, who most of the time won't do what you need him to do... the defenders again will say "well it's SUPPOSED to be like that, it's got a mind of it own" to which i say "bullsh*t", it's utterly frustrating and a poor poor POOR design choice, when you're presented with puzzles you spend FAR longer than you should have to trying to figure out if the fact you can't solve the problem is due to the fact that you haven't found the correct solution, or because you stupid creature won't do what it needs to... bad game design. Even when you know 100% what the solution to a puzzle is, you have to spend agonizing minutes trying to get the stupid AI of the creature to realize what it's got to do, and 9 times out of 10 it won't do it, because the creature isn't in the EXACT position and the EXACT rotation if needs to be to perform the action, and there's no way you can direct it to be, it's just blind luck when it gets itself into the right place.
    When you're constantly being forced to fight against the controls in order to play the game you know it's a failure.
    Such a shame because the premise, and the bond between creature and boy is lovely, but then the game utterly ruins the entire experience with trash controls that are beyond frustrating.    … Expand

    Good looking game with great narration. Maybe just not the kind of game I enjoy, but I found it overly slow and after giving it a couple of hours gave up and uninstalled it.

    Played in PS5, so I avoided the framerate issues.. the controls are a bit laggy, but u get over it along the way.. it's an Incredible journey.. the way the friendship is build between the boy and trico is amazing.. and brought me to tears in the end.. totally worth it.

    - i honestly lack the words to describe how awful the controls and camera are in this game. This almost killed an amazing game for me. Whoever was responsible for this should be ashamed!

    Beautiful game, beautiful story. Challenging, intriguing, full of personality and wonder... the controls however, wtf?? Sometimes I would scream at the Trico... just move already. Jump. The hardest part of the game was literally the config... otherwise this was an epic adventure.

    Though not as good as shadow of colossus still absolutely breathtaking and a worthwhile experience ... definitely check it out if you enjoyed ico , and shadow of colossus.. the last guardian offers a very unique experience just as shadow of colossus and ico have .. a different type of game With beautiful scenery , beautiful music and a heart breaking story..

    Impressive game the first half but then you start to see it flaws. For example Trico(the monster) behaves erratically sometimes and makes you think that it cannot do one thing but then it does. Very confusing

Me were also pleased with the spectacular destruction in the action scenes.

    Fantastic journey with a boy and a beast finding their way out. And emotional game and one I will be remembering forever. Runs like **** on my ps4 slim but the journey is worth it. The controls were strange and frustrating sometimes and Trico often don't give a **** about you. Is a puzzle game with a great story behind.

    The camera has a little affinity for not beeing placed optimally, and the framerate takes some unbelievable deep dives on a normal PS4, for something that does not really look the part. Probably should have cut down on some of the swaying effects. This is what really hurts the game a notch for me and I really don't have high standards on visuals at all.

    But, it's story and gameplay kept me interested from start to finish, even though some puzzles needed a bit of help from the internet. This is all and all a fantastic game, if you are ok with slow pace and don't need high powered visuals. Be sure to watch the real hidden ending, not knowing about it almost got me and had me disappointed at first quite a bit.    … Expand

    Los juegos de Fumito son una delicia. Juega en otra liga. Amo a Trico. Aun así, se me hizo bola en algunos momento. Culpa mía porque no soy de puzzles. Y en este juego va de eso. La IA de Trico también juega en otra liga.

    After 7 years in what seems to be development hell, Team Ico finally introduces us to the majestic Trico and its heartfelt relationship with a young protagonist. While the long development cycle does show its age in certain parts up to a point of some frustration. The experience as a whole is one of the most unique ever.

    The Last Guardian doesn't just live up to its forebears' legacy, it goes further. Despite the callbacks to Fumito Ueda's previous works, it is a unique creation. Outside of indie experiments, we don't get to say that about modern videogames often enough.
