    Absolutely beautiful game from start to finish. Wonderful soundtrack. Fun puzzles. Heartwarming story and narration. This game deserves a way higher User Score so I’m balancing it out. 9/10. Thanks to the developers for this fun, cute title.

    The Last Campfire excels at what it is, a chill puzzle game with a lot of heart. There are no stakes here. The player character never fights and never dies. The puzzles start off easy and grow in complexity but never so much that they cannot be solved with brute force. (What if I place this block here, how about here, and now how about here!)     Some will bring up the value per hour argument for games. I brush those concerns aside, mostly because I bought the game for 1/2 price (as I often do) but also because quality is more important to me than quantity. During my 6 hour playthrough, I enjoyed every hand made level and every puzzle. Pieces have a nice sound to them as you slid them around. I can understand an argument that the puzzles should be harder. The game, though, really wants you to finish it. You even get a platinum trophy for your efforts. Indeed, 51% of players have the trophy for completing the game, some of the highest completion stats I have ever seen. Variety is good. Chill games are good. Short games are good. If you are like me, you might easily spend 6 hours working on a platinum trophy or collecting gems to raise your attack by 5%. Think about what you have just done with your precious time here on earth. Maybe you could spend that time playing an entire other game instead. The Last Campfire can be that game.

    All-in-all, I recommend The Last Campfire. This is the kind of game that makes me question the devotion to bloated, open world AAA games and microtransaction driven games-as-a-service. How much more would you enjoy your free time if you spent on hand made little experiences like The Last Campfire. What if a game is really just exploring someone's imagination?     The Last Campfire is a a wonderful experience full of charm, character and warmth. The puzzles are never too head-scratching, but this suits the gentleness that the game oozes as the player wanders through the beautiful levels. This deserves more attention as it is a real treat.

    "The last Campfire" ist eines der schönsten Indie-Spiele, die ich je gespielt habe. Ein angenehmes Spieltempo in wunderschöner Grafik und Sound (ich habe es auf Nintendo Switch durchgespielt). Der Schwierigkeitsgrad ist sehr angenehm. Ich habe allerdings zwei Rätsel nicht verstanden und ohne Youtube nicht geschafft. Die Erklärungen beim Betreten der Rätselräume sind teilweise zu schnell"The last Campfire" ist eines der schönsten Indie-Spiele, die ich je gespielt habe. Leider gibt es vom Spiel Stand heute keine physische Cartridge. Ich bin kein Freund von Streaming und hätte es gerne in einer Hülle in meinem Regal stehen.

    So i hadn't played this game before, but recently picked it up on sale, and have been very pleasantly surprised. A classic story driven puzzle game, with a lovely graphic style a basic but cute story and a fantastic score. Really like the narrator too, she has a good voice and the accent is very pleasant too. It's nothing groundbreaking, but it's a lovely game to play to relax.

    I bought it expecting to have some brain melting puzzles but instead I got some very light puzzling with an extremely adorable world filled with love and care accompanied by a small story that somehow made me burst out in tears at the end... the only game that had this effect on me.
    The puzzles, just like said before, are relatively easy, though they get harder by the end of the game.     The puzzles, just like said before, are relatively easy, though they get harder by the end of the game. Still, even the hardest ones can be done under minutes, yet they are fun to breeze through.
    Its length was perfect for me (6 hours), I hate grinding through 80-hour campaigns with the same repetitive content over and over again. In this game, they perfectly captured how a game should be varied. Instead of focusing on lengthening the gameplay they focused on putting in all the love they had. It does not invent anything new but it keeps its mechanics fresh through the whole game by keeping them in perfect balance.
    Unfortunately, there are some technical issues. Touching a lost soul is essentially a "load level" function that leads to sudden freezes so you never get a fluid animation. If you stop between the areas at the right position you could think that the screen turned black to change to the next area but in reality you just stopped in the gate. Just keep pushing through for another quarter of a second. Finally, there are some items that you can clip through.
    And one design problem: if you interact with a character and then interact with them again you can't skip the dialogue. Most characters have only 1 or 2 lines so it's not a big deal but it can be frustrating when you happen to do it with a 10-15 line dialogue.
    Overall, with its charm it easily landed on my top games list, to be found between the great ones, like God of War and Red Dead Redemption 1+2. It's not on the same technical level but it hit home so hard that it really deserves its place on the podium. A true hidden gem.    … Expand

    I felt like I was playing a game primarily for phones/tablets, but the puzzles were good over time, so considering that the game has a smaller price tag, a rating of 8/10 is fair.

    This title, to me, belongs directly to the same family of Journey and Gris. While the overall design might not be incredibly original, the flow of the adventure, the rhythm between exploration and puzzles and the narrative themes touched by this story, make The Last Campfire as one of those little gems out there in the videogame world.

    I would not give a 10 lightly, but The Last Campfire was my Game of the Year for 2020. It's like playing a beautiful, sad, playful children's book, narrated by a Scottish girl with a wonderful voice. It has a lot of interesting puzzles, some of which are very challenging. I was blown away by the artwork and design, and the world it's set in, and the way it weaves a pervasive sense ofI would not give a 10 lightly, but The Last Campfire was my Game of the Year for 2020.     I purchased this game for about $6 on sale and wasn’t expecting too much from it. Right off the bat I was impressed with the visuals of the game. I love the little Embers, they remind me of the beans from Fall guys, and the world that is created here is very immersive. The main goal of the game is to find your way back home and to help fellow Embers who have lost hope and become “Forlorn” along their journey. I enjoyed the narration and storytelling throughout the game, which is not something that I normally care for. I also enjoyed how the story wrapped up in the end as well, but it did leave me wanting more content. Gameplay is super simple, in fact I’d definitely recommend this game to younger gamers who enjoy puzzle platformers as the puzzles in this game are not very difficult at all. I guess that’s one of my main gripes with the game. I feel that if the puzzles were a little bit tougher and the game a little bit longer, it would have been absolutely amazing. All in all it’s a game that will take you about 5-6 hours to beat if you explore the entire map and find all of the journal notes. The areas that you explore are unique enough that no map is required, so getting lost is not a big problem. All in all it’s a game well worth the $6 I spent on it, and I definitely recommend this for beginner gamers and veterans alike. You can see that much passion and care were put in by the devs when creating this fantastic little world. I’d love to see a part II in the future, hopefully a little longer and a bit harder.… Expand

    The Last Campfire is a very wholesome and cozy experience. If you are interested in puzzles, some minor exploration, and stories about hope and empaty, then I can only warmly recommend this game.

    Acquiring the lanthorn provides more of a twist as this enchanted instrument can move around more objects, such as a snakey platform beneath your feet or blocks triple your size. It’s this kind of magic that adds to this enchanting little world very much inspired by a bedtime storybook. And if all that doesn’t tap into your inner child, a section featuring slides certainly will. [Issue#181, p.86]
