AvAvA is incredible PvP concept. Something that we've seen previously in Daoc. ESO is already miles ahead of Daoc and can only keep improving. It's PvP is the best MMOs have ever seen.

After receiving countless emails from ZOS about how they're changing the game, overhauling everything to do with endgame, making it more accessible to everyone, they left in the Veteran Rank system for the console launch, the ONE THING that caused the mass exodus of PC players. Once you hit the cap of lvl 50, you'll be asked to do everything you just did, twice over, in the two other faction zones. That's hundreds of hours of questing, and that's the FASTEST way to get to Veteran Rank 14.

Expect a fun albeit somewhat generic adventure to level 50, followed by 300 hours of pointless grinding before you can do any endgame content. Enjoy getting dominated in PVP and turned down for group content in PVE by people who DID do the 300+ hour content grind.

Seriously, between the end of the main quest and the beginning of endgame content there's a gigantic void that you must fill with mindless quest and event grinding.

Being an Elder Scrolls fan, sadly this game is a huge disappointment. Bethesda wanted an mmo and they got it. It's all mmo and missing all the elements of an elder scrolls game. It's not even a fun MMO. It would have worked better If it simply had a Co-op option. I'm not going to write a long review as all the flaws have been pointed out by everyone else. The game world is congested with ubiquitously irksome precipitous knolls and high ranging mountains, melee type enemies that can land a hit on you with a scimitar while you are at a distance and the problematic inability to guard against ranged enemy attacks by using your surroundings.
Other features which let this game down include the glitch prone quests, such as key quest characters appearing invisible, quest marker failing to guide you to quest objectives, random game crashes and long server queues log in's.
Annoying nuances such as repetitive damage to armour after falling in battle and the lack of mobile repair kit drops, requiring constant traversal to town merchants to purchase repairs, make for poor game design.
The upgrade system is not too bad and gives the feeling of rewarding the player, while the quests when fully operational, play out to engage the player and enthuse the player to continue playing.
Online features such as playing quest's co-op dish out an average experience, but one that works to an extent nevertheless, with the exception of a co-op bug that makes quest characters invisible that should be addressed with future updates.
All up if your an die-hard mmo fan and a fan of epic fantasy adventures this may be the game for you, if you are after a more polished and infallible mmo experience, this is one game to avoid.

As for other classes , everyone basically specs for dps. You hardly find a decent tank , nobody can hold aggro , people claiming to be healers .. aren't. If you get into a Pug to do an instance you can pretty much expect the equivalent of a bunch of pre-preschoolers at playtime. And it basically isn't the people's fault. it's the way the game is designed. "Jack of all trades , master at none" gets everyone killed.

A few of the missions are fun but most of them are not. There aren't constant story missions to go through like most MMOs, instead you do a bunch of side missions then occasionally do a story mission. And playing with friends is pretty difficult. Unless each of you play with each other at the exact same time and pick up the same missions, you will end up doing different quests than your friend and you will be split up. The little bit of PvP I have tried doesn't seem to be skill based. I ended up fighting against players level 30+ when I was level 10. This is just an average game all around. The game is unpolished, and has all the appearance of an independent "free to play" game rather than one in development for years by a professional audio. The graphics are atrocious, they really are. They look like a throwback to a "good" ps2 game - the textures are bland, details lacking, and the world plain and lacking any sort of detail. Every building is the same bare walls with a few creates and barrels. The animation is jumpy, jerky and again, not what you expect from a modern game. If I were playing this on a table tablet - then I would expect these graphics - not on the most current gen systems.

That said, the game itself is not unplayable. There are plenty of quests, and hours of play. There is a challenge and some reward to be found in taking down the harder bosses. Just expect a mobile - gaming type experience, not a current gen game.

If you, like me, are a make Elder Scrolls fan, you'll but this anyway, and they are counting on that. Once all of us have done so - give it a year or so, and this will more than likely move into the free-to-play realm that it deserves.

If you can hold out, replay Skyrim for that time instead. You'll have more fun, and save yourself £40. You aren't missing anything.

I love the crafting actually, if you're a cruncher, its cool to go and farm stuff that makes your next bow, (crunching, if i decon this then i get 2 of those to make x etc)

Questing is a chore, it is done better on other titles, sometimes distraction re:gw2 can work

Without any viable text input, you just seem to be this insane wanderer, hoping for an invite for what you might be standing next to at that moment, the game needs more interaction, this, psn names, combat and the guilds themselves are woefully sub-par.

I click on most of the 10's and they have no history, other than to rate every version of the game at max, so here i am at a 1, although it is a credible 7 in my view. The game is pretty short for an MMO, there's not much to do once the story is over. PvP is imbalanced and there's really no other end game. The guild system is pretty messed up and not having a proper auction house is inexcusable. Good luck forming new guilds down the road, everyone's going to want to be part of the biggest possible, to have access to trading.

The crafting levels painfully slow and the gear you can make is obsolete by the time you can make it (like most, but not all MMOs). Ridiculous amount of recipes for trivial items no one wants, needs, or even has access to buy and sell.

Personally, I'm going back to DC Universe Online, the only PS4 MMO where combat is fun.

Between clunky controls, a surprising lack of features, and the gutting of everything that made Elder Scrolls interesting I don't see how anyone can give this game a mark above 5.

Rather than variety, everything in the game is cookie cutter and boring. No more intuitive combat system with criticals, no more stealth viability, and goodbye to ranged in general. How do you take a game where ranged meant ranged, and make it so bows and spells only reach a couple feet further than a spear swing? Oh right- you make it a cookie cutter WoW clone.

The trading system is obtuse on PC, but in ps4 with zero chat support it's downright atrocious. How do you make a game where trading relies on more personal interactions, and not have any form of chat box. At least on PC you could reliably trade. Oh, but they're adding a chat box- for a companion app. Why!? Keep in game features IN GAME, what is this Destiny?

The store is one of the worst parts. Items have menus and sub menus, sometimes, but it's unreliable, and the confirm buy button is the same as the 'try on' wardrobe feature, making it painfully easy to lose real money due to lag or double pressing- problems the game is now famous for. No store should be this bad- if you buy something in an mmo like SWTOR on their shop, it goes to a store 'mailbox' where you can choose to refund it immediately, completely eradicating the possibility of errors.

It gets worse though- if you do make an error due to their poorly made store- they REFUSE TO REFUND YOU. You can put in a ticket detailing the mistake and they will not refund the crowns spent- it's not even you asking for your money back, but the currency you buy with money. That's downright shady, and perhaps the worst customer service I have ever seen in a AAA title.

The game is buggy, you start to suffer more and more loading time issues the higher level you get- not unlike Skyrim, but in this case there's really no excuse.

The combat itself is clunky and simple, making it grow very, very boring very, very quickly. I'll give some credit to a more in depth crafting system.

If you want a very poorly made WoW clone with atrocious customer support and none of the features that make MMOs more convenient and tolerable- this game's for you. If you were hoping for Skyrim online, this game is absolutely nothing like it. At least the PC version has the option for mods, and the social experience is there.

Graphically- look at the glass armour for my opinion on this. It's not even remotely green, did Zenimax even look at the source material? It might be an ok game if they hadn't focused on making everything look as bland and ugly as possible. This is the ps4, I don't care if it's an mmo it shouldn't look this bad. The worst part is the animations- I haven't seem anything this stiff since WAR, and that game fell apart in a year.

I feel pretty generous giving this game a 1/10. It's playable, though not enjoyable, it might get a 2 or 3 but I always take away marks when customer service is this bad and their poorly designed game literally costs people money that they don't even entertain refunding. May there be better parts later on? Perhaps, but after I reach double digit hours on a game, if there's not a single thing worth praising I'm not going to keep going in the hopes of finding it.

Instead of eye candy graphics we get superb voice acting and story telling. DumbledoreS voice; rather Michael Gambon becomes our guide, "The Prophet." Throughout your adventures. Quite frankly wasn’t surprised, they can afford it. Which is interesting because they can afford an amazing actors voice over yet completely hire a new inadequate team to build their vision.
Excuses, excuses these past 4 years of how it’s an mmo and its limitations. However to their credit now the game supports 4k, which really doesn’t make the world appear any better just makes their lazy design appear more apparent because their textures aren’t hiding behind blurriness anymore.
Is the game fun? Honestly yes... Bethesda are masters of storytelling, they hire the best in business and if you set aside our shallow and vein expectations of design you will enjoy yourself.
You can be anything in this game... a mage welding a sword, a Templar healer, hell you can visit certain locations and be a vampire wielding double daggers as an assasin. If you can conjure it you can play it... Of course other combinations will be stronger than others.
Pvp is a hit or miss, soloing any pvp without a team and voice chat to plan your attacks you will fail and get frustrated. More so you have to catch up to veterans who are more aware of the pvp maps and are geared to completely decimate you. Which isn’t to say the community is a hit or miss... Sometimes you’ll be blown away by a story and the music picks up only to hear in the background, "yo dog you for real." Not sure why they let loose voice chat in the game world... I digress.
The combat is okay, Bethesda still hasn’t mastered that connection of how it’s feels to slice and dice with a sword... Spells feel better. There’s a disconnection in combat that for some reason Bethesda can’t get right.
So we get mediocre design with 4k support but fun gameplay... hmmm. It’s like asking ourselves what’s more important a brain or looks. Well in this case they get it right... brains. With brains we eventually will get the looks. Play it... Rarely do I recommend mediocrity, but in this case... All I can say... "What is this sorcery...."

if you loved Oblivion and Skyrim, this game still may not be for you. It's like a generic mmo where people talk more and you can pretend you're fighting like you were in the other games. if you go into it thinking "ill start playing a new mmo" you'll probably like it, but if you go in with "the elder scrolls" expectations it'll bore you to death.

Its not perfect and the storyline and side quests can be very tedious if your on your own, however its by far the deepest and largest RPG on PS4 with some excellent multiplayer aspects, amazing leveling system with endless upgrades, armor and weapons etc..

Good fantasy atmosphere with HUGE maps.

A big deal I dont like, other then lvling, was the quests even the main story. ill start the main quest but then it'll just stop. so inessence they want you to just do ALL the quests. while that is good i really dont want to at times.

If you're looking forward to having a horse to ride through the dull and empty lands of Tamriel you'll be disappointed since bosses and some enemies will drop 1-3 gold but no worry, Zenimax was kind enough to allow you to pay them more in order to get more gold with godd*** microtransactions. The games one saving grace is it's pvp and faction battles which are really fun. That is the only reason that this game barely got a 6 out of 10 in my opinion along with decent and fun pve too. The graphics are great, no argument there. For as far as I got, the story is good but where it loses me is the online game play, utter chaos and confusion. The pros about wandering around with strangers is that they can be of benefit if you happen to need assistance in a battle and someone else is wandering around at that same moment you are fighting and they join in.
Where it gets odd is when out of no where they (online players) appear bouncing around and basically acting the fool therefore taking away the serious nature of the gaming experience. It is also not just once or twice but always, non stop, doesn't end. I find it very cheesy and distracting.

Where this game really annoys and angers me is the detailed, if not all out complication of my inventory. ie: weapons, clothing, food, potions ect. Really, could you make it just a little more confusing and complicated!? How about weapon assignment and button selection,..really! It does not make any sense whatsoever!

Another annoyance was the battle melees. So I'm crouched down attempting a sneak attack with the bow and after a shot or two I want to switch to my shield and sword. Well I cant, it says I cannot switch weapons in battle. So now I'm running backwards trying to defend close range with a long range weapon. Then there are the enemies that appear out of thin air when you are not properly equipped for the battle and when you go into your inventory to choose, the enemy can still attack and do damage, serious damage. It does not go into a pause attack mode or give you a fair chance to re-equip.

The money situation is also a head scratcher. In battle your equipment also takes damage making it less effective and it costs to have it repaired but the cost is way to excessive for what you get out of it. I could not find a way to repair myself and therefore all the money I collected was used to repair my equipment or hope to always replace the equipment with new finds. What I found was that if I liked a certain look or garment, I was spending all my money just to repair it and I could not invest in anything new.

I have more complaints but overall I would rate this game a 6.2 as it is not in anyway, shape or form Skyrim and has only some resemblance to Dragon Age Origins. Anyone thinking they are getting Skyrim 3 do yourself a favour and save your money. The most recent Dragon Age Inquisition was good but still, nothing compares to Skyrim. For me, this game was a complete waste of my money and I can only hope the developers get their act together a produce something as clean, exciting and beautiful as Skyrim

I have package my game up and I am returning it to the store I bought it from. I wont get my money back but they will give me an in-store credit on something else that I'm sure will be better than this waste of time.

It is not because the game play was slow, it was because I found a huge hole in the game that renders its core game mechanic pointless. After I escaped the prison, I wandered around and killed random creatures, and after about 30 minutes, I found that I leveled up four times without even noticing. That is when it hit me: if I can level up this fast just by prancing around with the other million people in the world, what is the point of having quests to complete. I know that I am not the only one leveling up this quickly because I found that my friend was up to level 40 after about a week. Unless he had been playing non-stop the entire time, I find the leveling system to be somewhat offset. Sure there is some fun game play if you get into it, but I just find no point to this game. That being said i had my doubts, how would it compare? so after finally obtaining a ps4 instead of upgrading my terrible PC it was time to cancel my blizzard subscription and focus on other games for once. Let me start by saying i think this game looks incredible, the music, the areas etc. but one thing right off the bat made me disappointed. The health bars, the experience bar all the bar placements in this game are horrible, where is the small map? to make questing a sinch rather then constantly having to pop up the map on the screen. Questing is terrible way to much text, i understand they want the user to be in to the story but come on, id almost rather the usual go kill 10 boars in the field and collecting plants. Theres a very simple formula to games like these and i understand each one wants to have there own identity, but there should be some rules they must follow. The screen isnt even cluttered the interface could have been way better. And wheres the dungeon ques? or group que questing? how about inspecting other players? im sorry im not trying to make this the new Warcraft but they could have easily used that as a good reference tool this game is just to bland. When i see other high level players thats the only thing that makes me want to get further in the game, getting awesome looking gear. So it might be just worth it. I will continue to force myself to play, i dont mind that i spent the money to play i already had a psplus script so ill see how this pans out a couple months from now. Expand

Graphics are ok. I expected better but their not too bad. Vegetation doesnt look too good. Having said that, I knew that going in. As far as mmorpgs go the graphics are really good relative to other mmorpgs, so I give eso credit here. Bethesda made skyrim and skyrims graphics are way better. You can do a lot more with single player games then u can with mmorpgs graphics wise.

Dungeons - All the random people going in and out of dungeons sort of kills the experience for me. Its different running dungeons with a party set up beforehand entering dungeons with a maximum set on the number of players that can enter dungeons. But, with all these random players running in and out and all over the place, I didnt really have much fun in the dungs.

The abilities are really fun, I enjoyed that part of it. I was playing a nightblade and I think they made that class really well.

I picked up this mmorpg so I could enjoy the game with other people. But with the game being limited to voice chat, its just annoying, so I decided to play solo but then realized I might as well play a solo game like witcher 3 or something that has way better graphics, and doesnt have random players all over the dungeons Im doing.

Still a huge fan of Bethesda :D loved oblivion and skyrim!

I wanted another Elder Scrolls game and they delivered. I'm not a big MMORPG guy so the fact that a lot of the missions can be easily done solo was not an issue for me. The story line is involving and I've already spent many hours in the game. My only complaint is the DLC seems a bit high priced, I'll wait for the price drop until I get them as there is plenty to due in the main game.

Pros: It's not WoW. FF14 felt too close to WoW so I couldn't play it.
Cons: Herds players into subscription model by giving you too little bag space. That's a big minus for me, otherwise the game gets a solid 9 from me. It's more like a 7.5 due to it but I rounded it up.

Elder Scrolls Online fun intuitive, but bargains with the spite of the MMO hand. This game first had me hating it with connection issues and the feeling of impossible progression, but after giving it another chance has made me feel wanting to breath life into it like I have for the other games in the franchise.

Now I will say that this game is not perfect as I'll explain later but the idea is much better to that of many other MMO games some of which even enticing you with being free. So what is special about this shall we say next installment in the Elder Scrolls series, well it has a knack at being well presented and develops on a scale that makes it near possible to flaunt the main missions without the consent of doing other activities.

The aperture of making the character your own is also ace as it it keeps to the position of what each Scrolls game has been about. The wonder of a diverse skills set and ability to use various armors and weapons has made a versatile and tactile approach that has allowed anyone to be anything, from a Waring Breton mage to a sword sheathing Reguard.

The look of the game is flawless, well not literally but for the most part as it has that Scrolls feel to it and the pasted MMO you come to expect, but visuals are nothing compared to the delight of the music, and as always it's a joy to sit and listen to.

The unfortunate point is that whilst you are basking the vast world of Tamriel, the spite of Mr Virtual Shop is around the corner waiting to pick pocket your crowns and give you a vanity pet item for your troubles. This is where the game for me takes one look at you and wipes money across your screen with the hope of drawing you in, but to be honest I'm not surprised after all this game is an MMO.

To put it in conclusion this game embarks a journey for you to explore the realms of Tamriel, alone or with friends. So if you do buy this be mindful as this is a MMO so yes there is an abundance of paying items and DLC extras, but that aside the core game is very much the Scrolls game you would expect.

This is in order to coerce you into their fee structure. If you pay their monthly fees, you will level at an appropriate pace to have access to the game. This is annying and under handed. I mean, hey, if you want to make it a 'pay to play' structure, go ahead. But pretending it is not a 'pay to play' structure, when in practical terms, it is a pay to play MMO, this is really really mean, and greedy. The game itself, until level 10, is a good game with good stories, but it is wrapped up in a fee structure that is disingenuous. It is similar to Star Wars the Old Republic in that both espouse a free play model, when in fact they are not free. In order to really level up enough to have access to the world and its stories, you must pay the monthly fee. So to sum up, if you want to pay to play , then this game is good and quite fun. However, if you aren't willing to pay into the Bethesda/Zenimax coffers on a monthly basis, don't waste your time with it. Expand

The PVP aspects have been expanded. And more than anything, when you buy the base game, you have enough content to be sustainable into the long game without needing anything else. Anything else is extra flavor and extra money, but it's an enjoyable experience solo or with friends.

I will also factor in the community. I play Mobas, switching from a Moba to ESO is phenomenal for my mental health. The player base is so kind and caring it doesn't feel real sometimes. A random player just gave me 15k gold because I was on a new toon. I didn't even ask for anything. It is painfully difficult to find groups for the dungeons and trials. The group finder tool does not work for dungeons, and not many people on console are attempting to do the trials (equivalent to raids in WoW) on console. If someone tells you you can't succesfully port a MMO game to a console, he never played TESO. This massive online rpg is right that: Massive. From the map to the missions, endless stories contained within a magic world full of real people. It's a shame it's not translated to spanish, so have that in mind if you don't understand English.

The Elder Scrolls Online Is a great addition to the Elder Scrolls universe adding interesting new characters, beautiful landscapes to look at, it has great gameplay and combat. The only flaws I found while playing the game were some bugs and I did get stuck in the ground a couple of times. I would recommend this game to hardcore Elder Scrolls fans and this a great game for MMO players.

I have played ESO from the launch to this day with several breaks. The first impression of the game is beautiful. It's a bit like Skyrim, with the same good crafting system, a pretty actionorientated combat which also is a bit like in Skyrim, pretty good graphics and a dense fully voiced storyline.

So why only 5 points? The game is a mix of Skyrim and an MMO, for an MMO it is too much singleplayer based, for a singleplayer game the story and landscape are too repetitive and boring after a while. Technically it is far away from the stability of an MMO like i.e. FFX14.

Since 2 years the company "invents the game ever new", means doing nothing for a while, then change everything, with new and old bugs and many unbalances coming up. Then again sits there and does nothing, while trying to invent ESO new if playerbase goes down again. This game does the company since launch while ESO became more and more instable and a technical desaster.

If you see ESO in a special offer for like 9.95 give it a try. For some time it will sure be entertaining and it is absolutely playable without Sub or buying anything else. But i fear most people will be disappointed after playing for a while....

Didn't play it long enough to max out the limited inventory size in the base game ( like F076 ). I was not impressed by the performance. It wasn't as bad as FO76 for frame rate and latency, but the frame rate was poor by today's gaming standards. After playing the Division 1/2 online and how smoothly those run well I know who knows how to optimize online games better, Ubi-soft.

Visually this would of looked like a nice PS3/360 game, but for a PS4 game it looks kind of dated and ugly, The graphics and lighting looked so last gen for sure.

Played TES ARPG Oblivion, Morrowind and Skyrim in that order, I'd take Oblivion hell even old Morrowind over playing another minute of TESO. The game play did not pull me in all and I didn't get that open world TES vibe. The areas I played in was just smaller zones with loading screens.

Then I looked at TES plus option and the in game currency BS and I was like oh wow. I could get a Xboxlive game pass or EA play and have access to hundreds of games for the price of this one games subscriptions model and in game currency options. Which will obviously be needed to cut down the mmo style grind fest.

I still play Skyrim on console and PC. I have four versions of that game. Fallout 3/4 and NV I replay a lot on console and PC. Bethesda online models for TES/Fallout are really restrictive unless you cough up beyond the base games. I picked up a preowned copy for 25% of the current PSN store price so I don't even feel burnt. Summing up TESO is just meh.

The Elder Scrolls Online is a unique RPG that allows for further character customization options that previous installments of the series lacked, with the inclusion of clean graphics and a unique music score. However, the carry weight feature and active quest “feature” can be a bit annoying, and the controls may take a bit to adjust to.

I already was a big Elder Scrolls fanboy, but this game improved that even more. I love the gigantic world full with quests, activities and creatures to defeat. Its combat is simplistic and uneventful; its quests and narrative fail to engage me; and overall, it is something that I just can't get fully invested in. There is something here that I really want to get into, but overcoming the aspects I just mentioned make doing so a major slog.

I love the potential for individuality when it comes to building a character in ESO. There are very few limitations when it comes to individualizing each class to your desired play style, and there is absolutely no barrier to entry in terms of difficulty. But truly, ESO is the very definition of mundane. I keep hoping against hope that something will grab me, and am consistently met with disappointment.

This is not "Skyrim online." This is a mediocre facsimile of not just better Elder Scrolls games, but also better MMOs. Though it is not intolerable, it has, thus far, failed to deliver a gripping experience.

The crafting is reasonable and the trading in the game is great. The questing can get very repetitive though, which is the biggest downfall in my opinion. If you’re considering starting to play this game make sure to join up with a couple large social guilds people are always willing to help and it’s generally a really friendly community. Expand

You could be a shield wielding vampire or a sword slashing werewolf, no matter how good or bad the combo is, if you can dream it you can do it (9 times out of 10).

I have heard a few complaints about crafting, but to be honest you probably won't find yourself crafting too often. The only time you will craft is to upgrade a weapon but you will only start doing that at a high level and by then you will already have the majority of the resources you need. At first I was disappointed to find the models for certain places were not like those of Skyrim but I later came to accept that ESO is its own game.

That being said, it is rich with lore and provides an opportunity for any RPG fan's creativity to go wild. Whilst I accept that the game has had its own problems in the past, it has really improved since then. So, if you are a fan of MMORPG's then this is the game for you.

A couple of lines of dialogue can often be all you’re given before being plunged into whatever mundane task is expected of you; rare are the significant characters and even rarer are the ones you care about. It just doesn’t maintain the same depth of exploration or profundity that the series is known for, leading to a much quicker-paced Elder Scrolls experience.

This is a nice RPG and a bad MMO. The game is playable without subscriptions and it offers a lot of content to explore. Playing together with other gamers still is not really working properly. It is too bad this game does not impress, even though the development system for characters and the PvP are fun.
