Loving it so far (at level 13). My first console MMO and while there are certainly a few things I'm not totally in love with, it IS an Elder Scrolls game and very fun to play and level up. Combat is better than Skyrim. I look forward to playing every night - and after 6 solid weeks of the incredible Witcher 3, that's really saying something!

Wow, after all the hate I seen when the game dropped on PC, all I can say is either the game has changed completely or they was playing a different game, awesome MMO with the elder scrolls lore, what more could you ask for, of course there will be launch bugs, those are being worked out.

The game purposefully tries to look somewhat archaic since it's supposed to be timed a thousand years before Skyrim. It helps keep the framerate up especailly for an mmo. The game actually runs quite smooth considering. Ultimately it's worth more than the $60 price tag if you're looking for something to play for a while. This couldn't have hit at a better time and it's basically the best thing this summer, give it a try. Expand

I can imagine a lot of the frustration (and 0's) this game has gotten on here is because the gamers don't understand the general idea of the game. So if you're expecting to just rush into the game, put in 100 hours of solo play and hit max level you'll be sorely disappointed. It is an MMO so it is implied that you'll need to team up with people quite frequently and tackle the world together.

The game looks great all things considered and even though there were some login/server issues from the start, the patches have cleared all that up. It's a great game, and it's about time the consoles get a really great ftp MMO.

This game WAS advertise as SKYRIM 4 YEARS AGO, countless videos of their propaganda, to tell people they should ignore that fact and accept the games horrible textures is bewildering; more so an excuse for lazy rushed design.
Instead of eye candy graphics we get superb voice acting and story telling. DumbledoreS voice; rather Michael Gambon becomes our guide, "The Prophet." Throughout your adventures. Quite frankly wasn’t surprised, they can afford it. Which is interesting because they can afford an amazing actors voice over yet completely hire a new inadequate team to build their vision.
Excuses, excuses these past 4 years of how it’s an mmo and its limitations. However to their credit now the game supports 4k, which really doesn’t make the world appear any better just makes their lazy design appear more apparent because their textures aren’t hiding behind blurriness anymore.
Is the game fun? Honestly yes... Bethesda are masters of storytelling, they hire the best in business and if you set aside our shallow and vein expectations of design you will enjoy yourself.
You can be anything in this game... a mage welding a sword, a Templar healer, hell you can visit certain locations and be a vampire wielding double daggers as an assasin. If you can conjure it you can play it... Of course other combinations will be stronger than others.
Pvp is a hit or miss, soloing any pvp without a team and voice chat to plan your attacks you will fail and get frustrated. More so you have to catch up to veterans who are more aware of the pvp maps and are geared to completely decimate you. Which isn’t to say the community is a hit or miss... Sometimes you’ll be blown away by a story and the music picks up only to hear in the background, "yo dog you for real." Not sure why they let loose voice chat in the game world... I digress.
The combat is okay, Bethesda still hasn’t mastered that connection of how it’s feels to slice and dice with a sword... Spells feel better. There’s a disconnection in combat that for some reason Bethesda can’t get right.
So we get mediocre design with 4k support but fun gameplay... hmmm. It’s like asking ourselves what’s more important a brain or looks. Well in this case they get it right... brains. With brains we eventually will get the looks. Play it... Rarely do I recommend mediocrity, but in this case... All I can say... "What is this sorcery...."

For an MMO, I think the graphics are great! Voice acting is pretty good and it definitely has the feel of Tamriel. It's a lot of fun running around the environment knowing it's populated with other players. This is probably the first successful console MMO I have every played.

Pretty fun game and worth playing if you're in to MMO's. I enjoy every part of this game. Not sure what the haters expect from an MMO and comparing it to the likes of skyrim (which is a single player game) is a bit stupid but gamers these days love to hate on games so hate is expected. Don't let them put you off.

After the first day of login queues, it's fun to get in and wander around doing quests with other people in ESO. Everyone marking this game a 0 that also states they could never play isn't reviewing the game, they're just trolling, so this is to offset that. The queues are entirely gone now and anyone that gave this a 0 because they "Couldn't play!" should really reconsider.

Great MMO with tons of well-written quests and a huge world to explore! Thanks to PC betatesters it has none of the old bugs during questing, there's a better ''voice'' system than on PC, and finally it has the best graphics among MMOs.
Endgame is going to be expanded with new maps, new raids, and it's not only a GRIND like in old MMOs...but a challenge!

Each town, dungeon, cave, etc. has it's very own little mini-story that instantly get you hooked! I cannot stop playing this game! If you're expecting a game like Elder Scrolls: Skyrim then you will be grossly surprised at this game. Think of WoW or Guild Wars and combine it with the Elder Scrolls lore, scenery, and just overall background. I cannot begin to explain how nostalgic I become exploring Morrowind, Cyradil, a little bit of Daggerfall (My main character's an Ebonheart Pact faction member. I have not explored much of the other areas yet.) If you want a new game to get completely lost in, this is it! It has decent enough graphics that don't disappoint but don't quite impress. But graphics never make the game. It's the game play that has a bigger influence, and wow! The game play in this game is phenomenal. Lots of attacks and active abilities that let you play how you play best. Whether it be a Templar build with sword and shield or a sorcerer with staff or any of the above! Great game, would recommend to any fan of ES or MMO's! Expand

That aside, this game is amazing. IF you like elder scrolls, you'll love it. You can play solo all the way through if you choose, but then also have the option to group with friends or randoms. Additonally, the typical MMO mindset of being funneled into your classtype is gone. If your a mage and want to tank, you can do that. Each class has 3 skill lines that are unique to them, however there are seperate (and accessable to every class) skill likes for EVERY weapon type, armor type, crafting, world, content driven (ledgerman) and story. You have TONS of skills to choose from regardless of your class/playstyle.

The entire game is voice acted. Imagine having all the voice acting from destiny, rolled into one quest. thats every quest.

There are also tons of End-Game content that you can do. Most require a group but a solo area is announced to launch this year.

PVP is crazy good, and far better than the PVP you would experience on the PC. I played since Beta on PC and it NEVER felt this awesome. With the soon to be released Imperial City for PVP, this is only going to get better.

Again, ignore all the hate and give this game a chance. It is truly amazing and you will not be disappointed. Unless you get pissed off if the server goes down here or there while server issues are resolved at launch ;).

    PROS:
    Tons of content
    Grouping optional
    Fully Voice Acted
    Constant Updates/Content expansions
    Amazing PVP
    Immersive, has that ES feel.
    Full customization of builds.

    CONS:
No true solo end-game content (yet)
Minor bugs/issues that maybe could have been resolved prior to launch

So after putting in 30h since release and making it up to level 25, I have to say, this game is very good.

When playing alone, this really does feel like an Elder Scrolls game with some MMO touches. You can get lost in exploring the world, looting, stealing, and all that good stuff you know and love from previous ES games. The skill system is a hybrid of experience gain from killing / questing and the ES system of 'use whatever you want to get better at it'.

The ability to swap weapons at lvl 15 to gain an alternate action bar allows for some insanely deep character customization (there are a TONNE of skills you can branch out on). It kind of makes my head spin there's so much to keep track of. In fact, I enjoy this system significantly more than Skyrim's 'favourite item' menu that broke immersion and paused the game each time you wanted to swap weapons. Now weapon / skill swapping happens at a touch of a button.

The MMO aspects of the game are also nice. Grouping with friends and randoms has been very easy for me. Guilds, and guild stores are great for supporting an in game economy, and we've already made a good chunk of gold setting up a guild store for our guild.

I am also fond of the voice chat they implemented in the game. Yes, area chat can sometime be annoying, but on the other hand, you can encounter some very humorous situations out in the wild. It really feels like a living, breathing world when you run into two human players arguing amongst each other about who should keep a certain quest reward. But if that's not for you, just back out of the channel to ignore random players.

There is also guild chat (so the entire guild can communicate), separate channels for higher tier guild members, as well as group chat. Basically boiling down to: if you need to get in touch with someone via voice chat, you can... easily, and quickly.

The dungeons have been a blast, but I've only done 3 out of the 6 I've found so far, there are 3-4 bosses per dungeon, a dungeon quest, some puzzles, as well as all that good loot.

I also love that the Crown Store isn't pay-to-win. The crown store is primarily for cosmetics and game augments (so you can play any race with any faction). This is excellent. The people who want to play for free can without fear of pay-to-win.

    ---

But it's not all good, peak times in North america have had some server issues these past few days (between 8pm-12pm EST). This can definitely ruin the experience for players, and is always an inherit risk taken when buying an online only game. So the game is going to lose some points in the review score because of the server issues during peak hours.

Some of the quests I've done have also been pretty boring. As a running joke in our guild we say: "go to the white arrow, hit X until you can't hit X anymore, go to the next white arrow". That's basically what a lot of quests come down to. But, on the other hand, there are some very good quests in this game that I won't spoil. They involve solving puzzles, and some even makes you do some algebra which I enjoyed. Overall I would say the questing in the game is Average.

This game is easily a 8/10. With a few tweaks and bug fixes, it can easily become the best MMO for consoles.

Don't pay attention to all those 0 reviews. If you actually read them, you realize that they're not constructive, provide little actual information about the game, or is coming from a PC fanboy who is salty that ESO is actually a better game on console than PC.

I do not understand all the hate for this game. Having played both the PC and PS4 version, I'm obviously a fan, so I'll just hit some of the things that I think work better on console or just aren't there on PC.

Voice chat - makes communication with group members and those around you very easy. Controller support - While you can play on PC with a controller, support is not native.

Controller support - While you can play on PC with a controller, support is not native. There are some things made much easier with native controller support, like lockpicking. Having the rumble go off when you need to release the button on the pins feels incredibly natural.

No mods - I'm one of those who feel that the exploratory nature of the game is more rewarding without mods that pinpoint exactly where each skyshard and lore book is. The sight of the skyshard light is much more exciting when you see it on your own without knowing exactly where to head to find it.

All in all, I've spent many enjoyable hours in this game and will definitely be spending many more in the future. I highly recommend picking it up.

The world is beautiful with great open expanses with, probably, the best lighting system I have ever seen in a game. The combat is Dynamic and skill based which involves movement and is very well done and extremely fun and addictive. ALL characters are fully voiced and all have their own story to tell with some great detail in quests, caves and dungeons. A very good community. End game dungeons and raids are very good for MMO players to enjoy with a massive amount of content. Over 300 hours easily.

Although the game is not like it's predecessors and single player elder scrolls games ti still has the feel of one. being able to go into first person with vast open zones. Although there is not as much freedom in exploration as in Skyrim, it is still very good and rewarding.

The 'Skill' system is one of the best I have seen in any MMO with the freedom to use any weapon or armor with any class. Classes are also very open and free but all players still have access to deep and meaningful charterer progression.

The graphics are not as good as 'Next Gen' games but that is due to it being an MMO and for MMO standards the graphics are amazing. Especially when you think about the 200 Vs 200 PvP battles and sieges which are awesome.

Another great mechanic is the phasing which makes you feel as if you are actually making a difference to the world you are in. A good example of this would be A quest where A city had been overtaken by werewolves and I had to complete an attack to drive them out. After I finished the quest all the werewolves were gone and the city was filled with friendly NPC's.

Questing is very good with meaningful decisions that can really make you think. Most quest progression is shared although not all quest progression is shared so at some points your group members will be separated from you until they get to the same point in the quest. However this does not take away from the greatness of the game. The main story is engaging with interesting characters and fun missions.

Overall the game is definitely worth a buy for most people and is definitely worth a buy.

In my opinion, this game takes elements of all the above listed games and puts them into one, so rightly so, if you're thinking this will just be one of those games, it won't be. The quests are much more like fetch-quests and reminded me of WoW. Less back story, but that's not always a bad thing. The community in-game is helpful and grouping up with people is very common. My advice to anyone interested in getting this game is to be patient. I could hardly log in the first two days, but today (6/13) I've been able to log in and out without issue. Frame rates are dropping in heavily populated areas, but these are issues to be expected during this young stage of the game on console. Play on and don't worry so much about the highly negative reviews on here. It's like when someone tells you a movie sucks, you go into it expecting much worse. This game is a fun game and will yield many hours and if you're involved in the community and get some of your friends to get into the game too, it will be a positive experience for you. Expand

I don't understand why this game is getting such bad reviews. It is brilliant! If you love Skyrim you will love it! I am a massive Elder Scrolls fan but not a big MMO fan, but this game is just incredible! Great graphics, great storyline, it's smooth to play. If you want Witcher 3's graphics, buy Witcher 3, not TESO.. (Don't compare the graphics of a single player game to MMO)

The things is that, TESO is an awesome game on his own. But be aware of what you are buying..

In my opinion, TESO is one of the best game I've ever played.. The map is ridiculously big, the number of quest is crazy and they all have dept in it (If you listen to dialogue, of course... like every games). If you want to play alone, do it, if you want to play with your friend, do it. You can do whatever you want in this game. I've played Skyrim for more than a year and in my opinion, I will play TESO for a couple of years cause there's so much to do and it's all enjoyable..

I have never seen a game with so much dept. In my opinion, this game is a GOTY candidate.

However, all that is only my opinion, my best advice for the future player is go watch gameplay video of that game and make your own opinion. But, If you're a MMO player, I think that you should try this game.

I guess that very bad criticisms come from teenagers or people who need a high level of assistance, like we can find in GW2. I have been a long time fan of Elder Scrolls ever since I first played it back when Oblivion came out. I was excited to be able to play an MMO on my console with my friends and be able to experience the world of Elder Scrolls in a new way. The graphics, while not mind blowing are decent and the combat is definitely on point in my opinion. The story takes you through one of three factions with certain races being locked off to those factions from the lore of this universe, a nice addition I might add. But if you pre-ordered or buy the Any Race Any Faction upgrade than it all becomes kind of moot. I will say that it is like any other huge game, it has it's issues and downfalls. Now I have only really played the Aldemiri Dominion story line and I was enjoying up until one the missions involves a public area with a certain objective that people enjoy to troll. Essentially making it impossible to progress through the Dominion story line and forcing you to continue doing side quest for the remainder of the time until it is fixed. Another downfall is that leveling seems to take forever, with side quest giving little to no experience it seems. You will quickly run out of quest to do and still be to low of level to take on the next area's enemies without either a group or by taking them down one at a time. But when you are inside...let's say 3 levels of the enemy you can absolutely wreck them in small numbers. Even larger health enemies become less of a threat if you have any ability to use range abilities by simply kiting them around. (kite/kiting-to lore an enemy around an area while dealing damage to them while outside the range that they can do damage to you.) Most of the "world bosses" if its only a single target can be beaten in this fashion. Instances or dungeons can take an absurd amount of time to get into as sometimes you can wait upwards of 2+ hours and still not have a full team. Lastly in my bad section is that until you hit level 10 the game seems slow and monotonous with fetch quests. But after level 10 you can experience the PVP world of Cyridal, which is AMAZING if you have a group of friends to run with. It involves aset amount of time, usually in days, that in that time you fight for your faction to control your bases and castles and elder scrolls while simultaneously fighting to take the enemies bases and forts and elder scrolls. It's a huge tug of war that requires strategy and definitely a reasonable sized force. Thankfully the realm that I play in everyone is up scaled to max level to make it an even playing field, even though higher level characters will definitely be a threat as they have better gear and have had more time to allocate more skill points into passive abilities. I recommend this game to any one who has grown sick of the FPS genre as I have. All and all a solid buy well worth the $60, but don't splurge for the imperial edition imo as it has no real benefit besides unlocking the imperial class. Expand

Fans of fantasy RPG have had to wait a long time for a game where they can imagine themselves as heroes in 'another world' without paying by the month for it.

The game is brilliant. Contains action, exploring, pvp and group events. The idea of World Events is just great. The leveling is fun and its not boring and monotonic.

No commitment fun. I'm not tied down by a subscription - which is great. But most importantly, the game is beautiful. I'm happy they worked on it hard this past year. Quality really shines through.

A terrific blend of social questing, incredibly flexible game mechanics that engage rather than bore, and a deep, beautiful, and magical world to explore is something we've seen from many games in years past. But take that and apply it to an MMO...and do it incredible well...that is truly a remarkable accomplishment. It's fun, It's huge.

It's my new main MMO. I'm a casual player, meaning I have a life outside of the game. Working 40+ hrs a week along with my hubby and child. I've personally been waiting for a game like this for a long time. The freedom to level how you wish is phenomenal. Being an artist though, the art direction is what pulls me in the most. This game is beautiful. I'm not saying that the graphics have to be "uber current" with today's technology, but just that it has a focused consistent appeal with it's design and personality.

A couple of lines of dialogue can often be all you’re given before being plunged into whatever mundane task is expected of you; rare are the significant characters and even rarer are the ones you care about. It just doesn’t maintain the same depth of exploration or profundity that the series is known for, leading to a much quicker-paced Elder Scrolls experience.

Even simple quests cause a chain reaction of new incidents and it's possible to see how the player affects Tamriel. But if you expect something like Skyrim with coop-mode you still have to wait for another game.

This is a nice RPG and a bad MMO. The game is playable without subscriptions and it offers a lot of content to explore. Playing together with other gamers still is not really working properly. It is too bad this game does not impress, even though the development system for characters and the PvP are fun.
