    I'm redoing my review. My review of the game in 2015 was unfavorable. The game needed a lot of work. Rereading my review my points were valid at the time but no longer valid. In 2023 ESO is an amazing MMORPG. The story elements of the main zones are told well with high-quality voice actors.     The PVP aspects have been expanded. And more than anything, when you buy the base game, you have enough content to be sustainable into the long game without needing anything else. Anything else is extra flavor and extra money, but it's an enjoyable experience solo or with friends.

    I will also factor in the community. I play Mobas, switching from a Moba to ESO is phenomenal for my mental health. The player base is so kind and caring it doesn't feel real sometimes. A random player just gave me 15k gold because I was on a new toon. I didn't even ask for anything. He came to help me fight a monster because he was passing by, gave me the gold, then rode off into the sunset. Its a nice place to be.    … Expand

    The Elder Scrolls Online is a unique RPG that allows for further character customization options that previous installments of the series lacked, with the inclusion of clean graphics and a unique music score. However, the carry weight feature and active quest “feature” can be a bit annoying, and the controls may take a bit to adjust to.

    Incredibly fun and enjoyable game. I've spent over 1000 hours on PS4 and PS5 combined, met many great friends, had a lot of fun in PvE, PvP, and in other non-combat events. This is truly a wonderful MMO, and a fantastic Elder Scrolls game lore- and exploration-wise!

    Played for 8 years, and this is my favorite game that just gets better and bigger every year. Love everything from exploring, playing alone or with friends, even crafting and housing!

    If someone tells you you can't succesfully port a MMO game to a console, he never played TESO. This massive online rpg is right that: Massive. From the map to the missions, endless stories contained within a magic world full of real people. It's a shame it's not translated to spanish, so have that in mind if you don't understand English.

    ESO is the best MMORPG there is on console. The open world is huge and expansive with lots of places to explore and plenty of bosses to fight. There are so many ways that you can build your character and I'm not just talking about the amazing character customisation but also the various skill lines that are available. You could be a shield wielding vampire or a sword slashing werewolf, noESO is the best MMORPG there is on console.     I have heard a few complaints about crafting, but to be honest you probably won't find yourself crafting too often. The only time you will craft is to upgrade a weapon but you will only start doing that at a high level and by then you will already have the majority of the resources you need. At first I was disappointed to find the models for certain places were not like those of Skyrim but I later came to accept that ESO is its own game.

    That being said, it is rich with lore and provides an opportunity for any RPG fan's creativity to go wild. Whilst I accept that the game has had its own problems in the past, it has really improved since then. So, if you are a fan of MMORPG's then this is the game for you.    … Expand

    When it was released 5 years ago, I wasn't really big on it... However I have recently jumped into it and I'm so addicted. The quests are immersive. The graphics and audio make this game a truly special experience. The pve and pvp and interaction with other players have you begging for more.. There's so much content and so much stuff to do...     I’ve had a lot of fun with this game over the years. It does have some cons, I feel you basically need the subscription to make it enjoyable. It is definitely getting worse from a performance standard with each addition to the game. However it’s a huge game, with a large community. It’s easy to just start playing and suddenly realize it’s been 5 hours. There is so much to do from questing,I’ve had a lot of fun with this game over the years.     The combat in this game is a lot of fun. I played this game a lot. I beat the main quest, and played the Dark Brotherhood DLC. After I got to level 50 and started the champion point system I couldn't get in to any dungeons with anyone. I bought Summerset and the problem I had was the one side quest. It's not fun at all and takes a lot of time. The biggest problem with this game is all theThe combat in this game is a lot of fun. I played this game a lot. While it takes time getting used to this game when you've put over 500 hours into Skyrim, this game is definitely worth it. I'm currently level 110 (champion rank) and never spent a cent on ESO plus, or crowns as the normal gameI already was a big Elder Scrolls fanboy, but this game improved that even more. This game first had me hating it with connection issues and the feeling of impossible progression, but after giving it another chance has made me feel wanting to breath life into it like I have for the other games in the franchise.

    Now I will say that this game is not perfect as I'll explain later but the idea is much better to that of many other MMO games some of which even enticing you with being free. So what is special about this shall we say next installment in the Elder Scrolls series, well it has a knack at being well presented and develops on a scale that makes it near possible to flaunt the main missions without the consent of doing other activities.

    The aperture of making the character your own is also ace as it it keeps to the position of what each Scrolls game has been about. The wonder of a diverse skills set and ability to use various armors and weapons has made a versatile and tactile approach that has allowed anyone to be anything, from a Waring Breton mage to a sword sheathing Reguard.

    The look of the game is flawless, well not literally but for the most part as it has that Scrolls feel to it and the pasted MMO you come to expect, but visuals are nothing compared to the delight of the music, and as always it's a joy to sit and listen to.

    The unfortunate point is that whilst you are basking the vast world of Tamriel, the spite of Mr Virtual Shop is around the corner waiting to pick pocket your crowns and give you a vanity pet item for your troubles. This is where the game for me takes one look at you and wipes money across your screen with the hope of drawing you in, but to be honest I'm not surprised after all this game is an MMO.

    To put it in conclusion this game embarks a journey for you to explore the realms of Tamriel, alone or with friends. So if you do buy this be mindful as this is a MMO so yes there is an abundance of paying items and DLC extras, but that aside the core game is very much the Scrolls game you would expect.    … Expand

    Excuses, excuses these past 4 years of how it’s an mmo and its limitations. However to their credit now the game supports 4k, which really doesn’t make the world appear any better just makes their lazy design appear more apparent because their textures aren’t hiding behind blurriness anymore.
    Is the game fun? Honestly yes... Bethesda are masters of storytelling, they hire the best in business and if you set aside our shallow and vein expectations of design you will enjoy yourself.
    You can be anything in this game... a mage welding a sword, a Templar healer, hell you can visit certain locations and be a vampire wielding double daggers as an assasin. If you can conjure it you can play it... Of course other combinations will be stronger than others.
    Pvp is a hit or miss, soloing any pvp without a team and voice chat to plan your attacks you will fail and get frustrated. More so you have to catch up to veterans who are more aware of the pvp maps and are geared to completely decimate you. Which isn’t to say the community is a hit or miss... Sometimes you’ll be blown away by a story and the music picks up only to hear in the background, "yo dog you for real." Not sure why they let loose voice chat in the game world... I digress.
    The combat is okay, Bethesda still hasn’t mastered that connection of how it’s feels to slice and dice with a sword... Spells feel better. There’s a disconnection in combat that for some reason Bethesda can’t get right.
    So we get mediocre design with 4k support but fun gameplay... hmmm. It’s like asking ourselves what’s more important a brain or looks. Well in this case they get it right... brains. With brains we eventually will get the looks. Play it... Rarely do I recommend mediocrity, but in this case... All I can say... "What is this sorcery...."    … Expand

    Pros: It's not WoW. FF14 felt too close to WoW so I couldn't play it.
    Cons: Herds players into subscription model by giving you too little bag space. That's a big minus for me, otherwise the game gets a solid 9 from me. It's more like a 7.5 due to it but I rounded it up.

    I've accidentally put my PC review there, but Metacritic is so lame, that I cannot delete my misplaced review. However, the game is one of the best RPGs (on PC), but I dunno how it looks or plays like on this console.

    Its a shame that it still has a bad rep to some gamers who have heard about this game or experienced this game back when it first launched for pc. The combat, the story, the soundtrack, are all amazingly done and really draws you back into the game. No experience feels the same.     The Elder Scrolls Online Is a great addition to the Elder Scrolls universe adding interesting new characters, beautiful landscapes to look at, it has great gameplay and combat. The only flaws I found while playing the game were some bugs and I did get stuck in the ground a couple of times. I would recommend this game to hardcore Elder Scrolls fans and this a great game for MMO players.

    Its not perfect and the storyline and side quests can be very tedious if your on your own, however its by far the deepest and largest RPG on PS4 with some excellent multiplayer aspects, amazing leveling system with endless upgrades, armor and weapons etc..

    Good fantasy atmosphere with HUGE maps.

    This is a mix of runescape and skyrim, perfect match. You can relax in the game like fishing, collecting, sightseeing, or get challenged with fun cooperative fights. You can completely customise your character, unlike witcher 3 where you can only play as a male. Great adventure, great dialogues and atmosphere. Will want to spend as much time playing as you can.

    I have only player The Elder scrolls Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim and I have always wanted to visit other parts in Tamriel, this game made my wish come true. One of the best immersive MMOs out there.

    This game was just what I was looking for. A huge game with so much to do. Great graphics and nice gameplay. I havent played elder scrolls before so I can´t compare the game with those.. But i feel that this game is great.

    I wanted another Elder Scrolls game and they delivered. I'm not a big MMORPG guy so the fact that a lot of the missions can be easily done solo was not an issue for me. The story line is involving and I've already spent many hours in the game. My only complaint is the DLC seems a bit high priced, I'll wait for the price drop until I get them as there is plenty to due in the main game.

    It's important to note that this game won't be to everyones liking. It places the natural elements of the traditionally popular RPG, and puts them down in a    The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited is an MMO take on the popular RPG series, The Elder Scrolls. Although it may have many similarities and differences to previous titles, it's still a great game in it's own unique way.

    It's important to note that this game won't be to everyones liking. It places the natural elements of the traditionally popular RPG, and puts them down in a completely new environment - filled with multiple-played populated cities, cooperative dungeons, and lots of highly strategic-yet-enjoyable PvP.

    This game surrounds itself in the lore of TES extremely well, with readable books that help you to understand the complexity of the world. Additionally, the NPC's are voiced, which helps to emerse you and make the world seem more believable as you run around, slay monsters, and pretty much do everyone else's 'fetch' quests.

    The level of development for characters in ESO is also pretty varied. When you start the game, you will pick from four classes. However, as is natural in a TES game, these classes do not restrict your equipment or weapons, instead they provide you with individual, yet very useful skill lines, of which you can grow as you level up.

    In terms of the 'MMO' side of things, the game seems to be lacking slightly. The grouping system seems ineffective at times, and there is no real way to socialize with other players - apart from voice chat. There are your typical 'guilds' however, yet these are essential if you wish to auction your hard-earned gear in replacement for something better, as there are no auction houses anywhere!

    Dungeons and PvP can be a varied experience as well. Although it can be rewarding to strategically kill your first boss amongst your friends and other group members, the game really lacks any risk-vs-reward payment for all your hard earned work. Expect bosses to be dropping nothing but loose change, and the occasional green item, as these will most likely be all you get - as the XP rewarded isn't much to write home about either...
    In terms of PvP, the game can be quite fun. It's hard to contain the level of excitement you get from a massive PvP encounter, as they are often quite hectic and crazy. However, it can be a pain to die; just to have to run for 20 minutes to find another encounter.

    This game will be most enjoyable if you have friends to play it with though. The quests can be a blast, and offer better story telling and interaction, compared to more traditional MMO games. Although the combat is different, and done using a hotbar system, there's still more involvement from the player, as you have to time blocks, parry, and dodge AoE attacks. Just dont expect this to play like Skyrim or Oblivion.

    Overall, the game is great. If you are a massive fan of TES lore, or are looking for a new game to play with your friends, then you'll most likely enjoy this too. However if you're more of a single player focused player who's more intrested in intense action games, or perhaps not an MMO fan, you might want to give this a miss.    … Expand

    I am enjoying this game very much. There is so much to do and the map is very large and the combat is very good in the game. The PvP system is good as well but you do need to be at a high level to do that.

    I've never seen this many fake prop up reviews in my life. Two lines of comment, and each one targeting a different marketable aspect. All written with the same cheesy, gratuitous writing style....pathetic.

    Anyway, I generally have liked most of my experience with this game. The graphics, scale, and game mechanics have all been better than expected for me. There is the occasional boss    I've never seen this many fake prop up reviews in my life. Two lines of comment, and each one targeting a different marketable aspect. All written with the same cheesy, gratuitous writing style....pathetic.

    Anyway, I generally have liked most of my experience with this game. The graphics, scale, and game mechanics have all been better than expected for me. There is the occasional boss that doesn't want to spawn, and every now and again you can't get the the usable item promp to appear to open a door, or manipulate an item so you have to re-log, but overall its been a pretty bug-free experience for me. I've been moderately hooked for well over a month now. The only part that really bothers me is that all the quests seem to be localized to their immediate areas and there isn't much challenge to them. The veteran level dungeons are a different story all-together though. Their difficulty has kept my interest along with the massive variety of crafting options. Not the best MMO I've ever played, but quite enjoyable. Solid 8! Might be a 9 if they can figure a way to keep the potty-mouth losers off their mics in the major hubs. My kids will not play this game. A worthy purchase for adults.    … Expand

Im not sure if i should complain about the frames or the small amount of lag but I have had multiple times where the latency is just barely keeping my opponent out of range while their moving even if im following right behind them. My last con worth listing is the trading. There really needs to be some type of free market instead of having guilds with vendors. It is creating an environment where you have to have huge guilds to afford the vendor. We didn't get our normal vendor location this week even with a 815k gold bid. Pros - Its a very good quality MMO that has constant development with no forced subscription. You can play at the absolute top level in this game with no subscription. Yes there are small perks to premium but nothing that gives an unfair competitive advantage. Also keeping in mind this is an MMO it looks amazing. I did not think the PS4 had the hardware to run the game as well as it does. Even in large towns where there are 50+ people in one building you get amazing looking textures on everyone's armor. The story and voice acting are also very good. There are so many games out there that just have you read through conversations where as almost every single npc in ESO talks with multiple lines of dialogue. For those of us who really enjoy immersion this is a great way to keep the experience going. Overall no the game is not perfect but it is definitely better then what the critics sid.… Expand

    I have to say, i've played a lot of mmo's since 2002, starting with asheron's call 2. Played wow, SW:TOR, Eve Online, Conan, etc. But the past 3 years i've had a burnout on mmo's. I'm also a huge elder scrolls fan. I spend hundreds of hours on Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. So when they announced Elder Scrolls online, not only wasn't i interested in another mmo, i felt like Elder ScrollsI have to say, i've played a lot of mmo's since 2002, starting with asheron's call 2. Played wow, SW:TOR, Eve Online, Conan, etc. But the past 3 years i've had a burnout on mmo's. I'm also a huge elder scrolls fan. I spend hundreds of hours on Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. So when they announced Elder Scrolls online, not only wasn't i interested in another mmo, i felt like Elder Scrolls had to stay singleplayer. But anyway, have a ps4 and eventually got a curious what the game would be like and how an mmo would play on a console. While i first started, i thought it was an ok game, but now several weeks further, i can honestly say i'm becoming completely addicted again. And me becoming addicted to an mmo hasn't happened since the early years of Wow. There's so much to do, i love it that all quests have voice acting, so you don't just click away the quests and start grinding. The combat is a lot of fun, something which was lacking for me in many mmo's. And the mix of singleplayer and multiplayer content is just right. And it all just plays amazingly well on console, which i didn't expect. I highly recommend this if you're looking for an mmo with tons of content. They also made a very good decision by dropping the subscription. While it does feel like an elder scrolls game in some areas, it's still an mmo. dont jump in and expect a skyrim or oblivion.     I'm sure people reading this will already have played either Oblivion or Skyrim, if not a Fallout game. Returning to Bethesda there's that familiarity with the options and style. The questing and NPCs feel very familiar as does the early weapon choices.

    A lot of reviews seem to express how this is bad MMO because you can do a lot solo. This is the users own fault and NOT that of ESO. A big part of an MMO is community and what you put into it. I found a UK based forum whereby I talked to a few guys and got invited to their Guild, and will look to use that, but, I've yet to team up with anyone from my guild. Why? Because it's a great community and while my character is only lvl 11, I am often invited to groups and only last night spent 2 hours running around doing my missions with 2 German women who's English was far greater than my German. The community is there for grabs and very welcoming, anyone thats sulking that it's a solo game is simply not putting in the effort.

    Size: Of course it matters in this day and age. All RPGs must be significantly more expansive than the last or somehow it fails. I'll be honest I'm only in the 1st region, and it's big. I zoom out on the map and see the whole of Tamriel and I think "this could take a year" .. .and it probably could. A guild master I speak to is 1000 hours in already and said the game doesn't even open up fully till after 200hrs+ .. .and I'm really excited by this.

    The game would be pap though if it was all scale and no content. And ESO delivers well in that department also. Sure, fetch quests and travelling back to a character just to complete the mission becomes a norm, but it's an RPG and doesn't upset the normal routines of RPG grinding. Thankfully, the fighting system makes it worth while, whilst it's also received some bad reviews, and perhaps I'd had to long a wait since Skyrim, but it's good fun. At level 15 I will be able to pick 2 weapons into battle (so I can change between a 2 handed weapon say and a bow during battle). This will add more freedom to my fighting style.

    Spending money: The Crown pack I bought allowed me to be any race in any alliance and also started me with 1500 coins. I used these to buy a mount. Very handy as they get you from A to B just that little faster without the constant small gold expense of fast travelling. Most stuff you can buy from the crown store are just for looks. There's a few things to help you gain XP faster or skills faster, but these are just time savers and I've kept away from them.

    Bugs:
    So pre buying the game I was anticipating some really dodgy bugs and quest bugs etc. So far, very little has gone wrong. I've had one experience of my character not walking but gliding over the landscape, which after hitting OPTIONS and returning to gameplay it had sorted. And yes, there's going to be times your in a group area and an enemy is going to re spawn on you, and it can be fatal when caught off-guard... but thats part and parcel of an MMO. People would be outraged if enemies where permanently killed after all (!) meaning there's nothing to fight!

    Levelling: Obviously a major part of any MMORPG. And it's immense again. Without a good levelling system an RPG can harm enthusiasm, and ESO has what I can only describe as the most detailed levelling system I have ever used. Which is no bad thing. Alike Skyrim, there's a bunch of classes, race related, guild related and alliance related. Each skill set has numerous special abilities to unlock which can be assigned to the hotkeys for use. I've only just started the crafting skill sets but so far, so good. It doesn't lose anything from Skyrim, just adding more to the party.

    Overall ESO is a beautiful and brilliant MMO on the PS4. Having played a good while within FF A Realm Reborn, I've instantly preferred this game based on the lore and familiarity of the ES series. However, it is what it is. Don't buy this expecting Skyrim 2, don't buy this if you don't like joining others in quests (you dont have to mic up - there's an endless amount of gestures you can hotkey for easy conversation during exploring or dungeons) and there's a huge community of players who will happily welcome 1 more to their parties. If scale is your thing and looking for something to consume a lot of hours for your money, then look no further. Fair enough it's only been out since June 15 on PS4, but no one has achieved any of the ultra rare trophies.    … Expand

    I purchased this because I love Skyrim and wanted more. I immediately thought this was a bad mistake as I had never played a MMO before and was left confused and somewhat overwhelmed. I stuck it out and levelled up and learnt about in MMO's in the process. Now I love it and can see how the Elder scrolls has been interpreted into a MMO.

    Loving it so far (at level 13). My first console MMO and while there are certainly a few things I'm not totally in love with, it IS an Elder Scrolls game and very fun to play and level up. Combat is better than Skyrim. I look forward to playing every night - and after 6 solid weeks of the incredible Witcher 3, that's really saying something!

    This game by far is the best looking MMORPG on PS4. DC Universe does not look this good, FFXIV doesn't have the amount of detain this game has. I can literally sit in one place and watch the sun rise and set, watch weather gradually change from sunny to overcast to raining/storming, watching clouds roll across the sky. Environment looks amazing, especially compared to other MMO's out on PS4. (Skyrim is not an MMO, stop comparing this game to that game). The lighting is superb, character designs are very good, and its completely voice-acted. How many other MMO can say that?

    The story is good as well, but what I like about the storytelling and the quest that many other MMO's(looking at you FFXIV) don't accomplish is the feeling that your choices changes part of the story and the landscape of the game. I have a choice, do I save the spirits of a town from eternal damnation, but in doing so allow the town to be a danger to the living(monsters and such inhabit the town), or do I allow the spirits no rest, which prevents other demons and monsters from staying, making the town safe for travelers. You don't get that in other MMO now. I feel like my choices matter, as though I'm living in the game world, not just following a story that Im just along for the ride.

    Gameplay is good. It could be better, but it works for this game. I've played other MMO where you just select a rotation of skills and spam them all day. This game is more action-oriented but there is still more strategy and customization in you character than the other big MMO RPG out. The fact I can have my mage wear full body armor or have my tank rocking a bow, the roles aren't determined by the race and weapon equipped more so than how you build your character and what skills you have equipped.

    The world is huge, the amount of things to do is enormous, and its fun. And its free. I get more from this game as a free sub than I get paying 14.99/month for FFXIV. Based on that, this game gets a 8/10    … Expand

The quests that lure you in, the voice acting, the music, the graphics, the distant hills and mountains that you can walk to, the crafting, the enchanting, the "feeling" of power in the magic strikes, the plots. I haven't even begun with the PVP or specialised in a guild tree or any of that yet. This is just a great piece of entertainment that takes you along for the ride. And unlike Destiny, I don't have to do the same thing over and over and over again. Any undecideds out there, jump in it's awesome. (I'm actually considering taking out the ESO Plus subscription I like it that much). Love the references to all the other Elder Scrolls areas, that are so familiar from playing the other games, love the lore, the books, the hints to the hidden treasures...I could go on.     This game is full of gameplay you'd still expect from Elder Scrolls. Tamriel is a great game with lots of upgrades and entertainment for multiplayer online. There's a few bugs and repetitive elements, but still lots of fun. Definitely a game anyone would enjoy.

People used to playing solo games, like Skyrim, will need to know that others are frequently around doing the same quests at the same time, which takes some getting used to. There will be interaction with other players. On the other hand, MMO players will need to know that a lot of the visual appearance has roots in Skyrim, which results in a very minimal UI. There will be solo players and players looking for "immersion" in the game with you.

    The game world is exceptional. Graphics and audio quality are more than acceptable to me, with just a slight amount of visual stutter in the game when turning or moving fast. Controls are intuitive, but not very customizable, so if you have an unusual preference for what buttons do, be aware. Combat is heavy on spells, which is different from a typical Elder Scrolls game. It is very dynamic and requires some moving around in order to avoid attacks and maintain a target. This is not a game where you stand in one spot and press buttons. Crafting in the game is easy to understand and the craftable items do compete well with drops. Crafting can get tedious if too much is attempted all at once. Trade with other players is through direct trade and guild stores, rather than an auction house, and fits well into the Elder Scrolls universe. Since you can be in up to 5 guilds, the options for trade through the guilds works well.

    The UI is very bare bones and things are definitely missing that one might expect in an MMO. MMO players that are expecting a wealth of data flowing across the screen and lots of informative text everywhere will find combat more challenging. Information about what is happening comes from visual clues in the game world instead of text and icons. No add-on support makes this particularly challenging for players coming over from the PC version. This is not insurmountable and players can become skilled at combat even without the traditional MMO information on the screen.

    Some basic RPG elements are also not in the current version of the game. There is no text chat, so everything is done with the player's voice. Housing is not currently in the game, nor is there any way to change the character appearance. The character appearance is highly customizable at creation time and there are 9 bi-pedal races to choose from. Armor and clothing can be colored. The result is a wide variety of character appearance in the game.

    The game gets a base rating of 8. The detailed game world is out of the park and gets it a boost to 10. With no other problems, it would stay there, but the slight stutter during movement, some bugs in the game that cause black or invisible players, NPCs, and monsters for a few seconds, the lack of an easy to access MUTE button for voice chat all subtract a point. None of these prevent game play and the game is still very playable and enjoyable on the PS4 platform. I am not concerned about missing features, like text chat, barber shop, housing, and combat text so there is no rathing change for that. Bottom line is that it is a 9 for me.    … Expand

    As we've come to know, Bethesda love packing their ES games to the max with content that will take you forever to complete and TESO is no different, It's literally impossible to go anywhere without getting distracted by something, be it a dungeon, area boss or quest, you'l always have something to do; be it saving someones family member or delivering a package.
    For the story driven fan, it is a little dry to begin with, with missions being handed out occasionally, you'll be keeping yourself occupied until the game says you can do some more campaign missions. Aside from the this the narrative is strong (and it ought to be considering none other than Michael Gambon himself will be guiding you); and you'll soon find yourself eager to learn what comes next.
    Alongside this all the standard guilds return, mages and fighters and a few new ones, will let you explore smaller scale stories that will turn your character into a powerful legend of the land. But also a new alliance feature comes in that allows you to clear areas of the map for the greater good of your people, giving you a feeling of duty and heroism.
    Skills are easy to level as usual and the leveling system offers an easy and intuitive approach to gearing your character in the direction you want. Each set of skills has passive and active abilities that will map to buttons on the controller, allowing you access to magic spells that can cause extra defensive and offensive effects.
    The games many crafting systems allow you to make Armour, brew potions and craft enchantments; giving you total freedom over how you play the game.
    Understandably it's the multiplayer that defines the game, truly showing off the size and polish of the game. Once you hit level ten you can group with other players to take on team dungeons and challenges, offering better loot and experience, not to mention a hell of a lot of fun; with each player having their own responsibility, team work becomes key. Then, when you're ready, enter Cyrodil for some intense PvP, with massive teams of players you can fight to literally become the emperor of Cyrodil. with rumors of the game allowing up to 1000 people at once, these matches can become HUGE.
    The only slight downside (and the main one to overlook) is the Visuals. Yes, they have improved over Skyrim, with better character models and some stellar lighting, but the lifeless looks on the faces of NPCs when they are describing terrible events sometimes takes you out of the fantasy.

    Overall a very well made and polished game from Bethesda with the usually quality and quantity we have come to expect form the franchise, a strong addition to any gamers collection.    … Expand

    For an MMO, I think the graphics are great! Voice acting is pretty good and it definitely has the feel of Tamriel. It's a lot of fun running around the environment knowing it's populated with other players. This is probably the first successful console MMO I have every played.

    Elder scrolls online is a enjoyable Mmo set in the elder scrolls universe. It captures the look and feel of elder scrolls but without as much interactivity. The combat is always changing,the world is enormous, the Pvp is epic and the story and lore is brilliant. This isn't skyrim, don't expect it to be and you'll have a blast.

The console version improves on many of the issues that plagued the pc one. MMOs are a dime a dozen on pc, but many console owners have yet to experience a mmo due to the lack of games that are offered. Final Fantasy A Realm Reborn proved that it can work. It was up to Bethesda to deliver an experience that stands toe to toe with the top console rpgs, and for the most part they did. The shear size of the world can be overwhelming at first, but in a good way. Once you get settled into your character and figure out what works for you everything else falls into place. The difficulty did discourage me a little at first, I died multiple times getting worked over by mobs. When I learned how to play my class the correct way that was all a distant memory. I leveled to 50 in less than a month and was left wanting more, little did I realize that was only the beginning. This game easily has hundreds of hours of content, you get what you paid for and then some that's for sure. PvP alone could be a seperate game, it's impressive the amount of stuff that is going on. Like any other mmo you grind on endgame content grouping with others along the way to make your toon an unstoppable force. The graphics do kinda suck, it looks like a last gen game, an early one at that. Gameplay and replayability is where it shines. Do yourself a favor a give this one a shot, you may be surprised.… Expand

    I'm liking the game, this is my first time playing an Elders Scrolls franchise game, and the experience is exciting like i had in WoW some years ago. I'll give a 9 because the idea of "late game" of PvE is a little empty to me at the moment, maybe is because there isn't, much players in high levels now.

    Great game, only thing stopping it being a 10 is the lack of consequence for dying. Otherwise, best MMORPG out the at the moment. Great looking and full of atmosphere.

    Most fun I've had in an MMO. The game is beautiful, tons of fun and addicting for all! The pve, pvp, and AvAvA is all amazing and really well done. Finally a game where you can do whatever you want.. Explore, do dungeons, pvp, AvAvA, and more! Also, this game is harder than your average MMO. Which is good! Who doesn't like a challenge?

    I am thoroughly enjoying ESO. I can jump in and play for an hour or so, or I can play for 6, it's all easy and fun. I never feel the grind, and the world is stunning. Overall, it's just a really good game.

    This is the best MMORPG I have ever played so far. It doesn't suck your money like a hungry vacuum. Leveling is at ease. Full voice acting. Exploring is also fun and actually rewarding. Very soothing music. Please, try the game, it doesn't even need monthly subscription to play.

    The only problems I have with this title are the dungeons are a annoying, everything is a boss it seems and there are a lot of them. The rewards are, generally speaking useless and when they are good, it's not for your class. But I don't dungeon much.

    Having played almost every MMO since the dawn of the genre (right back to MUDs) I've been jaded for a very long time and was almost hesitant to try yet another - the fact it was Subs-Free helped me overcome that reticence.
    I love it.

    Phenomenal game. It removes a lot of the things I hate about MMOs (monthly fee, gear grinds, pointless time sinks etc) and adds a bunch of great things.

    Very refreshing mmo, and with no monthly fee, it's a winner! The "quest" system is what i liked most and why I find it so refreshing. Great job Zenimax, can't wait to see where you take this game.

    Don't listen to the naysayers they are just WOW fanbabies who are upset that ESO is so popular and good. It really is fantastic and the graphics are some of the best I've ever seen.

    Really funny game! I already spend 300 hs on it and don't regret buying it. Some times the non-story-quest get really boring(but it always happen in all MMOs).

    The game is amazing in my own opinion. The graphics are spot on and the visual schemes are amazing. I am still playing and i feel so immersed. Besides the PvE which i can go meh at sometimes (compared to many other mmo's where the pve is just BLAH), it rescues itself in PVP

    I wish i could comment on some of these negative reviews. If you are hitting the same 2 buttons the entire game your doing it wrong. This is the most immersive game i have ever played.

    This game is the culmination of the evolution of both free to play, and subscription MMOs. The game design and art are superb, and the microtransaction/auction system is amazing. Cant say enough good things about this game. p.s. Also, lots of replayability between races in terms of story.

    Finally a game that combines the best features of the good mmo's while adding new mechanics and ways to play the game. It will be a long time I think before a better game than ESO will be made.

    Fun and innovative in the sense that you level up quickly without realizing that your doing it. Combat is fast paced and smooth, graphics are beautifully done, and over all game play is extremely enjoyable.

    The finest hour for MMO's, I started playing MMO's with World of Warcraft at launch, I have since played most of the MMO's that have come since and a few that came before also and I feel I speak with some authority when I say that this is by far the best game I've played at launch in this genre

    Truly loving this game. I decided the second I saw it that I would buy this game and was not disappointed in the slightest. I have been playing WoW for 6 years. I am glad in a way that Warlords of Draenor is so terribly childish, given me more time to play ESO.

    After playing this game hardcore for over a month, I feel that the hype has finally worn off and the game truly deserves a 10 rating. It's by far the best MMO right now, even better than World of Warcraft (though that's mostly due to Blizzard's failings).

    An amazing game! I especially like the exploration part of hidden caves and dungeons spread around the world which in general reward you with loot chests

    The amount of stories that are available is amazing. The game has so much replay value. I am definitely getting my $60 out of the game. The game is huge and i feel like i will never finish it.

    This game is genre defining. It really sets the bar for everything coming up next. The quest system is fantastic, unlike any other mmorpg on the market, the classes are filled with possibilities and you never feel trapped into a system or "cookie cutter builds" that degrade the experience.

    I've personally been waiting for a game like this for a long time. The freedom to level how you wish is phenomenal. Being an artist though, the art direction is what pulls me in the most. This game is beautiful. I'm not saying that the graphics have to be "uber current" with today's technology, but just that it has a focused consistent appeal with it's design and personality.

    A terrific blend of social questing, incredibly flexible game mechanics that engage rather than bore, and a deep, beautiful, and magical world to explore is something we've seen from many games in years past. But take that and apply it to an MMO...and do it incredible well...that is truly a remarkable accomplishment. It's fun, It's huge.

    No commitment fun. I'm not tied down by a subscription - which is great. But most importantly, the game is beautiful. I'm happy they worked on it hard this past year. Quality really shines through.

    The game is brilliant. Contains action,exploring,pvp and group events. The idea of World Events is just great. The leveling is fun and its not boring and monotonic.

    Fantastic game. If you sick and tired of boring copied wow clones then this game is for you. Excellent graphics, gameplay and best of all its B2P. This game is definitely gonna give **** Mop a run for its money.

    I was thinking of buying FFXIV Heavensward as I enjoyed the game, however when I tried ESO I was completely blown away. It's miles ahead of FFXIV regarding everything. Which says a lot when FFXIV is probably miles ahead of games like WoW. What a gem of a game.

    Elder Scrolls Online had some issues with the launch, most of them got fixed though. I can't really complain their costumer support is second to none, and the game is just perfect.

    I'd say Elder Scrolls Online is the perfect mix between guild wars 2 and world of warcraft. All the good things of these 2 games mixed into one is the result of ESO.

    Ever wished WoW wouldn't be so boring? ESO is thousands times better than WoW ever aimed to be. Finally I can quest at my pace and actually enjoy the stories.

    This is a great year of gaming, with ESO coming to Consoles, Witcher 3 being great and expecting fallout 4 as well. ESO is a few leagues ahead of other MMOs with its quality.

    AvAvA is incredible PvP concept. Something that we've seen previously in Daoc. ESO is already miles ahead of Daoc and can only keep improving. It's PvP is the best MMOs have ever seen.

    This game just suits me perfectly, being an MMO with a beautiful, hand-crafted world containing enjoyable PvE for smaller groups and the lack of a gear treadmill.

    This game worth to be in the collection of the best games ever made ( if there is one). High quality graphics and sound help the game to be wonderfull. The gameplay is solid and the action of the game id very good. RPG elements work great and the players are nice and kind.

    The game doesn't have that good graphics. But I'm not playing games because of graphics. When I first tried the game in it's beta state I was like a "donut" simply, is this real? Am I playing this MMO? Simply the best MMO to date.

    Best MMO of our times. Seriously, you start the game and...relax. No repetitive content, no grind. If somebody does something like it - that's just because he likes it, not because he has to do it to get super-uber-gear-sword-pants. Tons of good brand new ideas. No subscription - unlimited fun.

    Great graphics, nice character customization (not as good as Tera in this aspect), gigantic worlds and plenty of quests to perform and mobs to fight...

    A couple of lines of dialogue can often be all you’re given before being plunged into whatever mundane task is expected of you; rare are the significant characters and even rarer are the ones you care about. It just doesn’t maintain the same depth of exploration or profundity that the series is known for, leading to a much quicker-paced Elder Scrolls experience.

    Even simple quests cause a chain reaction of new incidents and it's possible to see how the player affects Tamriel. But if you expect something like Skyrim with coop-mode you still have to wait for another game.

    This is a nice RPG and a bad MMO. The game is playable without subscriptions and it offers a lot of content to explore. Playing together with other gamers still is not really working properly. It is too bad this game does not impress, even though the development system for characters and the PvP are fun.
