Abyss of the Shrine Maiden is the first part of the DLC expansion out of the three

I would like to say beforehand that I actually liked SAO
Abyss of the Shrine Maiden is the first part of the DLC expansion out of the three

I would like to say beforehand that I actually liked SAO Hollow Realization. Though the graphics weren't the best and there was a lot of RNG (Repetitive)
I thought it was a decent game and it was a big improvement to the other SAO games from before especially Hollow Fragment

With that said, lets start with the DLC Review.
This Dlc takes place in a volcanic/fire themed area and I personally thought it was alright. Some of the areas was better than the others for example the beginning area while some of the worser ones were the dark corridors, and volcanic labyrinths.

The story for this part is essentially a big teaser to what's to come and if you've played Warriors of the sky before hand; this basically continues the search and identity of whose the masked NPC girl is.
*It's obvious who it is though xD*

The game play is pretty much the same with welcoming additions like the increased lvl cap and heroine quest which you do a certain task to get a cg scene and a fusion of sorts (Healer, Buffer, etc...)
And also the green chests are pretty cool side thing to collect for!

I also appreciate that they added voice acting! Don't know why Warriors of the Sky was left out excluding the Rain and Seven scenes ofc...

    Now here comes the Cons:

I did not like how you can't do everything you want in the map like clearing the hardest NM's which are now at least twice the lvl you are currently... Like how are you suppose to finish them?!

On top of that I really hated TWO specific Bosses in the DLC. One is a recurring one but the first time you encounter is by far the hardest and you get easily Game Over if you are not careful enough
I just hated the fact you cannot progress with the DLC unless you defeat them
(Btw its possible if you are still playing that part; Just take your time and watch their movements)

The Second Boss is ofc the Main Dish for this DLC... I absolutely did not enjoy this fight, though I liked the OST and boss design.
I really think it's unnecessary to add a golden chain to prevent any damage to the boss until it releases... I think I would have enjoyed the fight a bit more if they got rid of that and speeding up the fight a lot more....

*I died to this guy once when I got it down to one health bar; I died because it randomly did his ultimate one shot kill move while it was vulnerable* ~It took me an whole hour to beat this guy with a lvl 86 character

I did learn Patience though for this DLC and I can definitely prepare for it if this happens again in the next one :)

So overall the big question, is it worth it? Look if you have completed the base game and warriors of the sky, I think some parts of this dlc beats whats in the main game. So I say it's worth it for this first DLC; It may be frustrated at times but I just love the new additions and more interactions with the SAO cast especially Preimere!!

Ik its a 7 but in truth its more like a 6.5. The Pros outweigh the cons and I look forward to the story picking up the pace in the next one :D

Thanks for reading this review and enjoy your day!
