Now we’ve got that out the way. Superhot is a first person shooter/ sorta puzzle game coming from the Superhot Team- Yes that’s the actual developer and publisher name. And it has you as a guy with a gun killing red guys in a polygonal world. But as i’m sure you know by now the real draw from Superhot is the fact that time moves very, very slowly when you’re standing still. So someone shoots at you, you can watch the bullet move through the air at a snails pace, take one wrong step and it’ll hit you in a flash. It’s a very interesting concept that has never been approached before (as far as I know) and it definitely deserves the title of “most innovative shooter” regardless of your opinion of the finished product.

    So how is the game?

It’s brilliant! As you’d expect, the game play is very energetic, and very fast paced despite being in slow motion. It really brings out an action movie feeling, being able to punch a guy in the gut, catch his gun out of mid air, shoot his friend behind him and then deliver a final blow as he’s getting back up. It’s the kind of thing you picture in your head when imagine a super cliche action movie, all it’s missing are cheesy one liners. The levels are very situation based, one moment you’re handling an out of control bar fight, the next you’re leaving the office after a hard day at work and boom! Ambush, better use that briefcase wisely. An array of weapons are slowly revealed to you as you play on, normal pistols, shotguns, machine guns and then the obvious immediate choice when you’re in a slow motion fight, Katana’s and ninja stars. and I guess you can use the environmental objects as well but.. Katana’s.

The setting is that you’re a hacker and you’ve been sent a link to this new game/experiment called SUPERHOT. And it spirals from there
The overall plot was a little weak for me, it was very generic stuff, hackers getting sucked into something bigger than them, but it worked fine for the game play it was surrounding. It didn’t need to be complex as the thing you’re playing the game for is the action movie game play not the story. I wouldn’t have an issue for this if it wasn’t for the fact that it constantly interrupts you. After four or so levels (which go by quickly) you’re kicked out of SUPERHOT.exe to talk to a hacker friend about how rad it is. Then back in, four or so levels later, kicked out again. These constant interruptions were put in place to immerse you and make you think you’re in this crazy world with big brother watching you, but all it does is disjoint you from the high action game play and slows down momentum.

My run through of Superhot lasted around 2 and a half hours, from what I’ve read that is about average. Now my biggest problem with this game, the price. This game, at least on PS4 is £18.99. A (lets be generous) 3 hour long game, with disjointed storytelling and constant momentum killing, is not worth £18.99, not even close. I understand there’s challange modes and endless modes and “do the same **** you just did again” modes. But for me those aren’t enough to add more value to the game, any game can duct tape on an some generic game modes to play once you’ve finished the game to get some sort of extra value out of it. Superhot is an excellent game, dragged down a bit by a lackluster story and some momentum issues, however I would highly recommend playing it for yourself but only if it’s on sale.

Very unique and enjoyable gameplay, but there's really not enough to it to make it anything more than that. 75/100

The game is very good, with a cool concept and clean graphics. The only con is its short campaign. But the concept is awesome, you can see this game like a kind of "puzzle fps" ! One game to try for sure.

I will give this game a 2,5 out of five. A good game to pick up and play through to the end when you have nothing to do.

But the game's ending is very underwhelming. I belive this product had more to give then what was shown in the campagin. But the endless and challange modes bumps this one up for me. Conclusion : The game SUPERHOT is not worth the 24,99 $ price tag, the endless

Conclusion : The game SUPERHOT is not worth the 24,99 $ price tag, the endless mode gets stale quick, but the challanges are fun to do even after my time playing. I have a total of 60 Hours played and i'm saying that it's not worth the money, to litlle to give.

Me ha gustado la mecánica principal del juego ya que es bastante original. La historia está bien escrita y es bastante curiosa, hasta el punto de no saber lo que pasará a continuación. Lo veo como un juego para pasar una tarde sin tener muchas expectativas.

Decent game with a fun concept that works really well at first. Unfortunately there's really not very much to this game and even in it's short completion time it still manages to get pretty repetitive. I honestly want a lot more even from a game this short and cheap

This shooter is very innovative and unique compared to other FPS titles on the PS4, and the addictive gameplay proves to be entertaining for longer than you might think. However, having played this on PS Plus, I would not have paid upwards of $20 or more for this title with just a two-hour campaign and a fun yet basic endless mode.

Decent gameplay but it got old for me pretty quickly. Also there’s no narrative so it’s just kinda whatever.

Without a doubt it’s one of the most original shooters ever created, but I must warn you that if you don’t get hooked on challenges, you’ll be done with the game in about 3 hours, because it’s how long the campaign takes. [10/2017, p.72]

Super Hot is a first person shooter unlike any other. It’s very narrative driven, mind blowing, fps similar to games such as Portal or The Stanley Parable. It’s quite the mind trip and the time driven game mechanic is actually a lot of fun. Just be prepared to run around saying “Super Hot” in your head for the next few days. It’s short but sweet and well worth the trip into this virtual world.

Wonky tech and punishing challenges will leave your cold, but with our without VR, this has moments of brilliance that are worth the price of admission alone. [Oct 2017, p.88]
