Super Stardust is absolutely a capable and fun twin-stick shooter, and this iteration ably presents the experience for the new generation of console.

An undeniably great shooter, but don't expect a profound update from the original. [Apr 2015, p.87]

Super Stardust Ultra is the third and best iteration of the Super Stardust series. It is not a big step up from the Playstation 3 version, but the improved controls, better 3d and some added game modes makes it worth a double-dip for fans. If you have not played it before you should give it a try now.

If you've never played a Super Stardust game before, then Super Stardust Ultra is an easy sell.

Super Stardust Ultra is still solid and fun, but it's also basically an old game, with some very strong competitors out there.

The game is great for what it is and a welcome addition to the PS4 library, but fans really deserve a true sequel at this point.

Not much more than an HD update of the last gen version, but still one of the best arcade shooters around and a loving homage to the original Asteroids.

Super Stardust Ultra is basically a prettier and marginally expanded version of Super Stardust HD that can only really be recommended to newcomers.

It's hard to describe Super Stardust Ultra as a disappointment, because the core gameplay loop – almost eight years after its original introduction – is still as enjoyable as ever. That said, this doesn't feel like the next frontier for Housemarque's revered shooter series – more like a stopgap along the way.

If you're the type of gamer who worked tirelessly in the past for a top Stardust score and can't get enough, this is the smoothest package yet. While I may be slowing down with my love for the franchise in light of recent competition, the light isn't entirely extinguished.

Super Stardust Ultra isn't that super. It's a fun remake for the people who didn't play the original eight years ago, but for those who have, the formula is the same. With little added extras in this version, Super Stardust Ultra doesn't hold up that well.

The power of Super Stardust is still strong in Ultra, but other parts of the game could have used more. The visuals are simply not very modern and the arcade mode is by far the best mode of all. That being said, Super Stardust Ultra is the biggest package of the game yet, but it is too bad there were no real selling points added.

Super Stardust Ultra is a fun experience, but basically the same game that we played on PS3 a couple of years ago. Adds some game modes, but in the end it's too compliant.

There is nothing at all wrong with the core of Super Stardust Ultra. The issue lies with how much remains the same as a title that came out nearly eight years ago while the studio responsible have moved on to bigger and better things.

As great as it was when the series first launched on the PlayStation 3 - but that's mainly because, other than a couple of new modes, it's practically the same game.

Sadly, having played the PS3 and Vita versions, I feel a little mugged off. It is almost identical to those. Really should have been cross buy, charging a couple of pounds for the extra modes. At 8 of the Queen's pounds, it is a little rich for my taste. However, I am enjoying it in short bursts, sadly not nearly as much as Geometry Wars 3... Full Review »

With 4 players the screen was just too small for basic 46 inch screen and it would need atleast 65 inch screen to be fully playable. With 2 players split screen is other story. The game is very addicting, fast and full of win. I don´t get the reviews saying this is too much as a ps3 clone. Please be more objective, not all of us played the ps3 version back in the day.
