The first SWD was a masterpiece. Full of originality , well paced and well balanced.. The sequel try to do the same thing, but the irritating mechanics and terrible balanced makes it unworthy of the first game. In the first game the more you progressed and more you gridded the easier it was to mine and fight. The sequel put all resources and shops miles out of you way , so it its a chore to even explore. And if you get caught without water and you are all the time, because there is hardly any water anywhere, you can not fight without taking damage, so you get cheap death after cheap deaths . Then there the NPC and there endless dialog you can move in a town without activating and dialogue tree with every steep, and its all stupid boring dribble. The game is just full of irritation, the first game was more challenging but more fair, STD 2 feel like a troll. Expand

Where the first title came up short because it was over so quickly and the monotony could set in, SteamWorld Dig 2 goes the extra mile by introducing a ton of fun new abilities that open up the world in all directions, putting platforming skills to the test throughout a greater range of diverse locations.

It's awesome. It perfectly nails how progression should be incorporated in video games and its gameplay is an addictive marriage of mining, exploration, platforming, and combat.

Another great achievement from Image & Form. SteamWorld Dig 2 takes everything that made the first game good and ups the ante in every way. Easily a must-buy game.
