It´s a good "Sekiro" clone. The story is not the best, the characters are ok but play as a Jedi with a Lightsaber and the force makes fun. The maps are big and the enemy types are a lot. The BIGGEST problem in my opinion is "New Game+". It´s just for the cosmetics. You have to "grind" again for the all ability´s.

this seemed like some lazy ass story telling to me oh and that god damned ending i cant believe people haven't gone ME:3 on this game holy hell.

I've never seen a company so blatantly kill a game series on there own so fast. It was a good starting point to have cal build a new jedi order go through his story and force feed starwars to us. after game 1 jump to game 2 and now you get to create your own character who is now a young padawan in the new Jedi order.

i would have been happy as all hell to be able to vaguely create a journey (thinking something like kotor 1 / 2 space travel / planet adventure.) as this new padawan who finds him/her self as a Jedi.

Controls at times really thru me as well. you get to fight some other jedis and they have jedi attacks and moves and force powers. then heres you as cal who can just basically swing a lightsaber around..

controls are unresponsive at times especially when trying to dodge and jumping. jumping doesn't really matter later after wall running and double jump become a thing.

i noticed attacks missing the enemeys at times as well. lightsaber throw missed alot of the time to the point where i stopped using it. it would go through the enemy and back and do nothing.

Overall I like the game, but I don't give out 10s very often like some. I also don't like to give out 1s very often. This game falls above average in my book. Why? The story is incredibly short. The game has infuriating platform bugs that can erase a couple hours of work if you are trying to avoid saving and respawning all enemies.

Idc if this is how the game was designed on purpose. It sucks and it’s stupid. It’s not fun to play. I’m at difficulty 1 out of 4 and 2 out of 4 is much much different from 1. The game should make a bigger difference between when the player is parrying and when the opponent is parrying - they both sound and look the same and so you can just hold down the block button and the game will make all sorts of noises as if the player is incurring massive damage.

The graphics are *so* bad. It feels like a 85-90%-finished game. You can pause, return from pause, and watch a landscape that was previously loaded before pressing pause have to load again and re-render itself...

If the Nintendo Switch can load (and keep loaded) the graphics for BotW then why can’t this game remember that I was looking at a tree and not an oblong greyish brown blob that *eventually* looks like a “tree” again after some additional loading?

The load times returning from respawn are quite long so IDK what’s going on in the meantime if it’s not collecting and retaining info.

Save your cash. Pass on this game.

Overall the platforming and backtracking gets irritating quickly since the level design isn't anything special.

The combat is probably the best part of the game because depending on the difficulty will have a nice challenge. The boss fights start to become repetitive after a while and start to throw multiple bosses already beaten together to make it more challenging.

All in all the game is okay but after a couple hours you will experience everything the game has to offer and the game will start to feel like a drag rather than a gripping game play experience.

You either progress or you don't, there are no choices other than searching for pointless crates and echos.

Then there is the combat. I will preface this by saying I don't enjoy dark souls style combat. But I can make it work if the controls are tight, the enemy behaviour is consistent and the camera works. This game has neither. In other games you need split second reactions or consistent patterns to defeat the enemy, but that only works if your character actually reacts to your split second reactions. And I don't mean the constant stagger, stun and knockback from literally everything other than a stormtrooper. I mean the floatiness of it, where you react and your character does a lengthy unnecessary animation which is inevitably interrupted by an instant enemy response.

Over and over again, you are being punished for lacklustre controls. It's next to impossible to recover from enemy combo attacks, if you get hit even once. You can't cancel your moves while every single enemy does it regularly. You have to commit to every attack while the creatures around you don't have to, can turn 180 mid swing or just outright power through your every move and perfectly timed parry, while your every move gets cancelled and you stagger over and over again while they chain unblockable attacks.

I only finished the game because it is Star Wars, if it wasn't I would quit after a couple of hours, it's not the dificulty, it's the **** dificulty. It's not about interesting strong enemies it's about fighting boring enemies with your hands bound behind your back. And while the visuals are interesting, the story actually isn't so don't bother.

Summary: It a great Star Wars game with the music, atmosphere and story that captures the adventure 80s fantasy feeling of the original trilogy. The metroidvania linear adventure with action packed scenes and souls like combat is a great combination for this title. But the execution is just ok and technical aspects are a downside.

The game captures the magical feeling of 80s fantasy and the adventure. It is much closer to the original movies than any of the films from the sequel trilogy. The plot combines the adventure of the journey through the unknowns of the far far away galaxy and the tale about restoring the secret once great order of the Jedi. The story has everything that stereotypical 80s fantasy should have: an obvious villain, an obvious hero and his party and the mystical ancient goal. It has jungles, deserts and ancient tombs. And it has magical weapons – lighsabers. The music is inspired by the wonderful work of John Williams. It captures the adventure/fairytale feeling of the setting. As a fantasy fan I couldn't ask for more.

I love the mix of gameplay that this game presents. Exploration is linear metroidvania style experience with lots of abilities that unlocks a new paths and collectibles. The souls-like combat fits really well. The action packed sequences and platforming sections keeps you engaged if you are not here only to slice things for the lightsaber.

The problem is, that the execution of all this elements is just ok. The combat is difficult and satisfying but sometimes it gets frustrating. When I saw I'm too weak for the boss fight I wanted to go back and gather something that will help me and game just locks you with the enemy and leaves you no choice but to try until you rage quit or lower the difficulty. Platforming can be bugged and you will have to repeat each section a couple of times because you have fallen to your death during a slide.

The level design is a plus. The verticality of the levels combined with agility of the character gives more depth to combat and maps. What I consider a downside are the larger planets without any shortcuts or fast travel. This can be painful at the end of the game when you are trying to gather all the collectibles, and you just have to traverse the whole planet multiple times because the an unreachable cliff or a slide blocks your way back. And speaking of collectibles, they are worthless. Unless your are planning to earn a platinum trophy, don't bother with them.

As to the technical aspects: I have never seen a game on PS4 that is a year after the release and still has so many bugs, glitches and frame drops.

The level design can be flawed. When (optionally) revisiting planets, it can be difficult to find your way back to specific areas. A number of paths are one-way only, which the in-game map doesn't tell you, and some areas have a distinct lack of shortcuts, making them feel labyrinthine.

And then I was disappointed in how much it was lacking content, it was really NOT starwars-y at all! I'm really disappointed with this game. It's very overrated. It could have been a good idea that it could change your habilities or powers in doing so. About difficulty I soon changed it to history mode because if not it's quite difficult (even the history mode could be a bit tricky for beginers). I don't want to spoil anything but I didn't like the how ended (the last scene). Honestly, I think this game wouldn't deserve more than a 7 or 8. I hope some day someone makes a rpg of the Star Wars universe because that for sure it woul be great. It takes about 17 hours.

P.S: Why can't you rotate the camera to see the face of Cal when you are in your starship? It feels weird.

This a average/good game, it has exploration but it focuses on it a little too much as you explore more than you fight and you are supposed to being chased by the empire. The combat feels really great but only if you play it on Jedi Knight or above, otherwise it is too easy. The Jedi abilities are too simple and you don't even use some because you can win everything only with combat skillsThis a average/good game, it has exploration but it focuses on it a little too much as you explore more than you fight and you are supposed to being chased by the empire. The combat feels really great but only if you play it on Jedi Knight or above, otherwise it is too easy. The Jedi abilities are too simple and you don't even use some because you can win everything only with combat skills and basic force power. But when you have all the skills and you use them, it makes you feel like you are an awesome Jedi.
The planets you visit are very simple and empty, there are structures for exploration like in tomb raider and enemies just enough to unlock skills.
The story is the weak in my opinion, there is only a one moment of excitement and is at the end and also that moment is a wasted opportunity to have an amazing combat. And the ending is extremely lame. There is not a single dramatic moment that can make you feel worried for the characters.
There is one part where x character says it will help you in your journey but does nothing and there are parts where you would expect the main character to say anything or have a reaction and is dead silence.
There are only like 2 or 3 "boss" battles and is a wasted opportunity because their names imply that there are many of them.
The characters that help you on your journey don't do a single thing apart from tellling you where you should go and take you there.
And the game presents many frame drops even during exploration parts where there is no fight, which is weird becasue during combat I didn't notices frame drop.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the game, specially the combat mechanics, it's a good/average game. It does well what it does but thats all, it doesn't take risks, it uses the Tomb raider formula with a simplified Sekiro's combat. So don't expect a Star Wars game with explotions, high emotions and overwelming excitemen. This was to me a try it once and move to another game, so my suggestion is to wait for a price drop before you buy it.
I really hope they can do much for the next installment (if there is ever one) because this game is well done and Respawn is an awesome game developer company

Yes, its a single player game and yes, there are no micro-transactions, but the PS4 version is riddled with bugs, glitches, and clunky performance issues that detract from the experience significantly.

Maps for each planet are confusing and poorly laid out - so much of this game consists of backtracking, trying to understand where exactly you're located on a bewildering holomap system, and running through repetitive areas over and over. The majority of your time spent with Fallen Order will involve climbing walls, swinging from ropes, and sliding down long stretches of terrain with little control.

Rendering is dodgy and I fell through the map several times. Combat can be satisfying but is very demanding and requires precision, which is tough to do when the game's always dropping its framerate or bugging out. The characters themselves are decent enough and the story is fine, but Jedi Fallen Order seems to take the best elements from superior titles and mixes them together in an under cooked final product.

I can't help but feel that much of the positivity around this game has come from the sheer surprise that EA didn't give us something totally exploitative or awful. This isn't a terrible game, but it's by no means great. I was really excited to play through this one but have come out feeling underwhelmed and a bit gutted. Hopefully Respawn will patch up many of the stability issues in the future - the game sorely needs it.

You, a Jedi Padawan-turned-fugitive, must fight for your survival as you explore the mysteries of a long-extinct civilization in hopes of rebuilding the Jedi Order.

Overall this is a solid game where they tried to make a Star Wars "souls like". The audio/visuals are great and the game controls well and is fun to play. There are some major flaws holding it back:

    2. The game is too easy on regular difficulty to have the same "risk/reward" feeling of a souls game. I never once lost my progress and there is a checkpoint around EVERY corner making the shortcuts useless.
    3. The wall running/swinging and sliding are fun at first but overused and felt tedious at times. There was no challenge there it felt like filler after a while.
    4. A couple of the puzzles are obnoxiously unclear what to do. I ended up looking them up and thinking to myself "I NEVER would have known that is what I was supposed to do!"

Overall its pretty good, but I feel like a lot of the game was just extra filler and it could have been so much more.

Essentially this is Tomb Raider with a star wars skin. You travel to planets and enter tombs that are inter connected based on the powers you have to access each area. The game has a similar save system and combat style to dark souls. The graphics and presentation are top notch. + great

    + good saber combat
    + varied level design

    - frame rate can vary from great to bad.
    - some cheap deaths from cheap enemies

    CONS
    ---------

    - Gets buggy at moments and frame rates can drop
    - Long load times (but not the worse I've seen)
    - Some parts in the game don't explain where/what exactly you should be doing, so sometimes you can spend a good 5 minutes on something that should only take 5 seconds.
    - Annoying backtracking (worse on harder modes). This also ties into no manual saves at any point, you need a meditation ring to save.
    - Bad, bad, control feel when 'sliding' down obstacles.
    - Bad 'Holomap' layout, the 'Holomap' gets confusing to look at as all of the levels of the map mesh into each other creating a blurry look, although it is authentic looking to the Star Wars aesthetic, it is sometimes confusing to reach your objective.
    - Takes elements from 'Dark souls/Bloodborne/Nioh/Uncharted (I know, I hate to say it, but it's true!). Not to say this is bad! It's just not overly original and doesn't add anything new or innovative to a blockbuster release.

Overall, I thought it was a really good game. Definitely frustrating at moments, yet also rewarding when playing on harder modes. This game has a learning curve for players unfamiliar with the fight mechanics, but delivers a satisfying punch in the end with a little practice/experience with the game. It's also cool that the story is original within the Stars Wars universe, and not a rehash of an older movie/story. There are a lot of worse games out there for 60 bucks, if you're looking for a good Triple A release, I'd check this one out.

The game is fun, yes it is but it feels like an unfinished product that should have been delayed for further polishing. If only they did that. If only they stabilised everything before releasing it. The experience would have been a lot more smoother and less frustrating.

The world traversal experience for me was a total nightmare. Sliding down the icy slopes was broken to the core. It slides too fast leaving you not enough control to maneuver Cal just in time for the turn and he'd fell off a whole lot of time. The combat is very inconsistent with some of the most random attack coming from the enemies. Some happen way too fast which leave you no time whatsoever to anticipate and counter back.

The deflecting mechanism is outright appalling. It's really bad. Sometimes it works and you get an idea of how to make it work but when you'll face a boss, it stops working like you thought you understood it. Just because you're a boss doesn't mean I don't get to deflect your attack. Even the blocking mechanism is horrible. Blocking an enemy drains your stamina far too quickly leaving you no time to hit back. The animations of the game feel rough and lack fluidity. At times, it feels extremely heavy to move Cal around in combat.

Besides that, it can be a fun game at times when everything is working like you think it should be working, like the game trained you. It's a very well written game that makes you genuinely care about its characters and plot. The characters are interesting and feel very real. The game would have been a masterpiece it they took the time to stabilise everything but hey, it's the first time Respawn Entertainment is handling such a project. Also, gotta give some credit to EA for not infesting the game with micro-transanctions. Fallen Order is okay.

I want to give this game a higher rating to support single-player endeavours rather than the trite we got from Battlefront, however there are just too many glaring issues that I couldn't overlook once I'd seen them.

The graphics allows you the typical performance mode vs resolution. The difference is noticeable, however even in performance mode I had serious framerate dips and chopping.

The graphics allows you the typical performance mode vs resolution. The difference is noticeable, however even in performance mode I had serious framerate dips and chopping. This wasn't even during hectic scenes; it happened randomly. When it worked it worked amazingly and I loved seeing 60FPS lightsaber action but this was hindered far too often.

The story of the game is fairly by the numbers, although I didn't progress far enough to experience it properly. I liked that it went down a more original route rather than imitating movies or rebooting old material. This had the foundation for an amazing game if not for the issues I'll outline below.

The gameplay is where the game really falters. Fallen Order does not shy away from its inspirations, however this goes a step too far in that it basically copy and pastes mechanics and concepts from games like Dark Souls, Assassins Creed, Uncharted, and Ratchet and Clank. Unfortunately, it doesn't do a very good job of this. The holomap is a confusing mess. The meditation spots not being used for fast travel is a bewildering oversight. The parrying seems temperamental and chaotic. Traversal is fun at first but eventually becomes a chore and the puzzles are very irritating.

I will give credit for including an option for difficulty levels that helps overcome mundane boss fights, something I think Soulborne games need.

The problem I have with this game is that it comes across like a handful of developers had some budget left over from the Battlefront games but resources were very limited. If not for the Jedi and lightsaber elements, it would be a very simplistic and dated experience. It could have benefitted from being a smaller experience because there just isn't enough depth and variety to maintain interest for the entire game. Having said that, I am very interested in a sequel should improvements be made.

    Not worth playing.

The level design is poor and frustrating. You never know if the collectables need to be collected now or later on with a backtrack (after unlocking a new move) so you need to constantly look around and jump everywhere in a game that is designed to be very linear. There are so many edges and cliffs and rock and cracks that doesn't work.

The combat doesn't have the "honesty" of Dark souls, in the sense that you can't really dodge and block. Studying your enemy pattern isn't very gratifying as their moves are random, stupid and much faster than your own attacks. It's pretty much just a silly button with low hp smasher until you get stronger.

The story doesn't make much sense neither.

The enemy design is very weird. Fighting giant birds hasn't much to do with Star Wars.

The game has a few nice flashes, but don't touch this unless you're a heavy gamer and already played the better games it draws from without taking any risks: Horizon, Dark Souls trilogy, Seikiro, God of war, Uncharted and so on.

It is hard to say something new that others haven't said already. It is a good Star Wars game (sadly the bar not been set high recently) but not a great game overall. I was really between 7 and 8 when I wanted to score this game. But I feel it deserves a 7 at the end of the day, I like that they is 5 playable planets but the map design is questionable at least. As others said, there are sections closed off depending on your abilities, but the worst part is that when u come back with the said ability u still have to start the level almost from the beginning, the game does offer u shortcuts but it is not near enough for this. The save points are very infrequent, when there is a platforming section there are save points way too often I think, but when u are fighting multiple waves of enemies there is barely any.
My biggest gripe are the bossfights, I think it is extremely unbalanced, I like a bit of a challenge so I went with the Jedi Knight difficulty, it worked alright most of the time, but there I found myself hitting the air so many times or stuck in some combo way too many times. I do understand that this may appeal for Dark Souls fans but not for me, also the last 2 major bosses I had to turn the difficulty down to beat them, and weirdly I managed to beat them straight away without using any stimpacks, I think the difficulty is way too imbalanced. Overall, the story is not bad, it has major pacing issues but I appreciate the different characters and the story remained canon. Wielding a lightsaber apart from those bossfights seemed good. If it is on sale (£40 or less) it is worth it, I hope that from here Star Wars games only going up in quality.

I thought aside from the terribly dodgy character graphics and animation, there were a couple of great characters, most notably my new favourite droid BD-1 who I felt the most connection with out of all of the characters in the game. I will say there was one character who was introduced fully later on in the game and I am so gutted she wasn’t used more. The villain, the Second Sister was incredible and had such an incredible back story, I loved everything about her, she was one of the characters I thought looked the best and was written the best out of them all.

Herein lies the game’s biggest strength, and its biggest draw, the story. The narrative of the game was very interesting and engaging and is what saved this game from being a complete disaster in my eyes. Learning more about the time between the main films is so exciting for me and I love being introduced to a new crew, some new villains, but also some familiar faces, it is so rewarding.

Although there is a lot of good things to be said about Jedi: Fallen Order, there is a lot that could have been improved on and I can’t help but think that if they had just left it for a few more months or even a year this could have been one of the best Star Wars games we have seen. However, even the stunning environments, fun lightsaber action and incredible narrative couldn’t mask the jarring character graphics, glitches and heavy-handed cinematic moments of gameplay.

My sense of "triumph" when overcoming hard challenges in games is completely dwarfed by my sense of "what the hell am I doing with my life right now" when dying in aforementioned games 50 times in a row.

Beyond that it's a pretty good game, although having a 3D platformer with free camera controls definitely can lead to frustration. The free camera also makes it more difficult to establish points of reference, which can be a problem in long maps that look exactly the same everywhere and force you to traverse the entire thing over and over. Still a great game made by talented people imo.

On the other hand the gameplay isn't that smooth as you expect. Parrying is slightly different than it is in Sekiro (compared with Sekiro because it has many similaritys) . It works great when it comes to block/parry blastershots but parrying monsters didn't worked very well for me. In a 1v1 duel or a boss fight combat is simply awesome! When it comes to a fight with multiple enemys it's just confusing and difficult. Crowd control isn't that good in my opinion. There were also way too much dungeons and climbing passages in the game. They were executed mostly fine but when it comes to Star Wars I prefer fighting!

Things they are absolutely not acceptable:

-loading time. Seriously after dying you have to wait OVER 40 sec to respawn.. After the loading time the game is still loading: textures or enemys for example. On several points i was able to walk through a platform without fighting because the enemys spawned to late. When i realized that i had to wait after a damn long loading time. This kind of stuff totally killed the fun for me. Especially when you play on the hardest step and fight against a boss that "oneshots" you.

    -second point: glitches.
During my playthrough i glitched a bunch of times through the wall and falled "out" of the game that i had to quit and reload the game. I lost a lot of time. I would guess around 1-2 hours of progress. Nearly 5 month after release I can expect a bit more of a game than that.
On some points in the game enemys stuck inside the wall or had no animation. Fortunately it happened not that often.

Still, because these points my rating is going down from 8.5 or 9 to 7 points out of 10.
With this rating the game gets away pretty well. It's kinda sad because the potential is on point the game just got released unfinished in my opinion.

I really, really, REALLY, wanted to like this game. I enjoyed "The Force Unleashed" (and liked "TFU2 even more). The gameplay videos I'd seen prior to release made me think that this was going to be similar to those games, or that this was a Star Wars game that was going to do for the genre what "Arkham Asylum" did for Batman.

    Unfortunately, no.

I started this game shortly after Christmas, putting the setting on "Jedi Master" since it said to choose the setting if you were familiar with melee games. That checked the box for me, being proficient at Assassin's Creed, Batman: Arkham, Uncharted, and even Tomb Raider. Nope.

Roughly 1/3 - 1/2 of the way through the game, many walkthrough videos viewed for boss fights, etc, I ratcheted it down to "Jedi Knight" since I wasn't getting anywhere in the arena fight. Then, I had to yield to the final boss and take it down to Story Mode after not getting close to victory in 20+ attempts. Fortunately, there are no trophies for difficulty completion.

Graphics are nothing earth shattering, MoCap animation is fine. Music is better than average as it does a worthy job of setting the mood no matter what planet you're exploring. Jerome from "Gotham" does well as the lead voice actor, Cal, and the puzzles aren't mind-bendingly difficult, though some take a bit of time/trial and error.

My praise pretty much ends here.

"Failure is part of the journey," says Cere, one of your companions. Ironic understatement. The people who will do well in this game are those who play games by studying the animatronics and the code underlying the characters on the screen to get an edge. I don't/can't/won't do that. If you're like me, and I suspect most gamers are, you're facing enemies like they're flesh-and-blood.

Anyway, survival skill 1: Learn to love the "Lock." I never do this in other games, but this is a must during boss fights, and could be helpful for melees against scrubs. The camera has a terrible knack of turning AWAY from your target(s) while you try to position yourself and then by the time you find the opponents again, you've lost half your health.

Survival Skill 2: Try to figure out the "parry" function. Yeah, this isn't a skill so much as a "hope." If you hold the parry, your opponent almost 100% of the time goes into their "unblockable/red" attack. If you try to time it, the game decides it's wrong and you get hit anyway. If you mash it, it's some of "A," some of "B." With a lack of telegraphing from most opponents, boss or otherwise, calling it difficult is kind.

Survival Skill 3: get used to the healing mechanic being useless in the heat of battle. if you cannot gain separation, you will not be able to heal.

    Other significant flaws include:

    a) Swinging and hitting nothing. Whoever designed the "hit boxes" on the opponents should not be welcomed back to any sequel. You've got a vulnerable enemy one second, so you press your advantage...and swing your saber around and don't hit anything.

    b) (slightly related) - Overly complicated/clunky fight controls. I don't know what else to say except that a lot of times you feel like you're guessing (refer to survival skill 2). With no in-game training module (like Force Awakens), there's really no opportunity to learn how to use the new skills you acquire.

    c) Failing to jump/steer multiple times on the "slalom" runs. At least you don't DIE every time you fall - it just takes a chunk of your life and then you restart, but there are times when you think, "Ok, I jumped too early there, I'll just wait an extra half-second" then you wait a bit the next time, and Cal doesn't jump at all. Then his just flat-out misses the next platform for no reason at all.

    d) Painfully-long respawn time. I reckon this is related to the mechanic that every time you rest, all enemies come back, but that's gotta be fixed for any future endeavors.

In sum, the story is the ONLY thing that kept me playing this game (though I took a month break or so). It's good Star Wars lore, and the Imperial Walker mission on Kashyyyk is probably the high point of this game.

I hope that this game in the annals of video game development becomes what the first Assassin's Creed game was to what followed: They fixed the control and load issues while maintaining the quality of the story.

"Persistence reveals the path," says Cal's master Jaro Tapal says.

"No," I reply. "Not in this game."

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is overrated and was overhyped !

    - The story is totally linear without any choices
    - The combat is repetitive
    - Lightsaber fights are bad without any combat-mechanics
    - Lightsabers are like rubber baseball bats
    - Lightsabers can't cut off body parts

5/10 points from me and even the story alone can't save all these negative basic cores of the game.

Art graphic is very cool on different planets but suffers from many technical issues and fps drops on base consoles. The game is full of bugs specialy in combat and platforming parts. Story have nothing new and deep but it is star wars not dark souls or witcher. At last gameplay is a combination of sekiro in combat and uncharted + gow3 in platforming parts. Jedi tries to be a good clone of its masters but its. Combat gives you no challenge even in jedi grand master difficulty. Combat and upgrading system is not deep and detailed but acceptable. Boss fights quality is not comparable with sekiro or soulsbornes. All and All star wars jedi is a fun game before you start some serious games. Another annoying problem is that progress cannot be saved at any time, but only on specific places (which are not that common). I mean... really? I thought that was something of the games of nineties, but in 2020 that decision seems stupid at most. Finally, the game is too hard, and despite you can lower the difficulty level, I believe it is not well balanced and any difficulty level other than the easiest is too hard, making it less enjoyable. Ah, I almost forget also that you can only recover health on the save points, which makes the lack of save points even more annoying. On top of that, there are some silly game mechanics that do not make any sense, like all the gliding through slopes like if main character, Cal, were surfing on his bare feet or forcing the character to revisit those huge maps by placing objectives in opposite corners of each map. Leaving all this problems behind, the story is nice and it is the Star Wars world, so you could kind of pardon some of the issues but they are too big. Expand

    MAJOR negative point:
    - Respawn has created a "meditation system". This is a save point for your own progression. Every time you die (which happens quite often on a more difficult level), you are placed back to the last point. However, this is often a point that you have already reached 20 minutes ago. Result: You have to walk the entire route again including defeating your enemies for a second time (or more). This is badly worked out by Respawn and it takes the fun away pretty quickly.

    Short version:
Some good ideas not so well implemented as well as a variety of technical issues render what could have been the best Star Wars game of recent times into an OK game. Buy only on sale, below 30 bucks for the standard edition.

    Full review:

    1) Game Mechanics
The game combines the platforming and puzzle solving of the Uncharted and modern Tomb Raider games with a combat and experience system taken from the Dark Souls series.

I have nothing against reusing game mechanics from other titles: Horizon Zero Dawn does not have a single original element of game mechanics, but that does not detract from the experience because such mechanics are brilliantly implemented. However, Fallen Order's implementation of traversal, platforming and combat is less than good.
    - Slow response and lack of precision in combat controls, when timing and precision are required from the player to survive.
    - Climbing and jumping are unnecessarily clunky and difficult. You will feel that jumps go well or not depending on pure luck rather than skill.

In short, the game is playable but the imprecise controls will detract from your fun to a great extent.

    2) Graphics
This game sometimes looks worse than Mass Effect Andromeda.

    - The walking and running animations of the main character look like Forrest Gump and Sarah Ryder had a son and decided to dump him on a ship breaking facility and call it a day.

    - The hair on the Wookies is... I guess somewhere between a straw man and the Swamp Thing after bleaching all of its body hair. I played on a standard PS4, so I hope you guys playing on a PS pro have better luck.

    - Frame rate drops and stuttering all over the place; sometimes during whole cut scenes, which completely removes any involvement in the story.

    - Low textures left and right, as well as the usual loading of the textures in stages that sometimes takes minutes to complete.

    3) Music, sound, voice acting.
Excellent music perfectly in line with the Star Wars saga. Good voice acting across the board. Sound effects decent, with the iconic sounds for blasters, laser sabers, TIE fighters, etc.

    4) Story
Good by videogame standards. If you thought Uncharted 4 or Horizon Zero Dawn were masterpieces of storytelling, then you will find the writing here excellent. I grew up reading Douglas Adams, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Alan Moore, Frank Miller... so, like I said, good by videogame standards.

    5) Other issues
    - Loading screens are not frequent, but when there's one, they are long. This means that if you come across a boss fight that you need to repeat a few times, you will spend minutes upon minutes watching the loading screen. I really hope all that bragging about SSD eliminating loading times has an inch of truth in it, because it's getting annoying.

    - The aesthetics of the main character wearing mostly ponchos... I don't know whose idea this was, but they could have at least given more options to dress the character.

    CONCLUSION:
As stated above, some good ideas executed in a so-so way, and a bunch of technical issues that the developer never cared to fix. Buy only on sale.

I'm glad I managed my expectations because while this is a great Star Wars story, it just doesn't do the game genre justice. Souls games work because while the difficulty is high, the gameplay and mechanics are tight and responsive. When you die, you feel like it's your fault, not the game. You know you can do better. If you had made the correct inputs at the correct time, you would have succeeded. This is not so with Fallen Order. The game is so glitchy and unresponsive. You see an attack coming and you press the correct button but nothing happens. You have the perfect window to heal but the input lags and you end up taking the next attack in the middle of one of EA's patented slow as hell motion-capture animations. The game looks great but plays terribly. I would happily sacrifice 80% of the graphical fidelity and animation realism for responsive, dependable gameplay and bug-free combat. I played through for the story, but the game was torture. Going back to DS3 or Bloodborne felt like a totally different world. Expand

História ok, combate viciante. Falta identidade no jogo, parece uncharted no mundo de star wars.
Recomendo apenas a fãs de star wars.

Respawn were either rushed or totally out of their depth. More likely a combination of both. Expand

Amazing game for the lovers of Star Wars saga. The music, the scenarios and the fights are very faithful to the saga.

Jedi Fallen Order a new star wars single-player game published by EA made by respawn entertainment. Why do i say this? Well for me it seems this game almost got 1-2 points more on the review scale only because its a single player game published by EA without lootboxes or microtransactions. Dont get me wrong i hate loot boxes and the mt **** but this game is imho not as good as all the critics say. Now i got this out of the way we get to the acutal review.

A bit of plot summary for the first two hours of gameplay:
Jedi Fallen Order is a game about a young Jedi that hides from the Imperial Forces that seem to control the entire Galaxy all is good and well until he uses his force and suddenly his whole live seems to fall apart and his ass is hunted by a trillion of storm troopers and more until suddenly some rebels come along to rescue him and he joins their forces. Thats to plot summary for the first 1-2 hours of gameplay and the hook to go on an adventure to collect more power and eventually fight the leaders of the Imperial forces. Which is in my opinion no really good story nore is it very
exciting to go through the first hour with only jumping around and talking about nonsense with some side charakters that does nothing for the story and nothing to build an emmersive universe its just bland out boring (imo). Even in force unleashed i had a charakter that was evil from the beginning and changed throughout the story (it wasnt that good of a story either) but at least i had something different than the underdog jedi padawan **** for the 100th time.

    Gameplay:
You have some different comination of attacks and some different force attacks like force push and slowing enemys overall nothing really exciting or new which is kinda dissapoiting imo because this game could have done so much more than just using the old meachnics and doing nothing creative or new. It goes a bit for the style of a souls like genre so you can parry and dodge roll enemy attacks. If you die you have to attack the enemy that killed you to absorb some of your xp back again which is overall a neat idea and the souls like gameplay feels kinda good i want to say if the enemys werent programmed to follow your every movement which makes the doding feel kinda pointless to me. Some more wasted opportunitys are in the lack of physics while you can push around some enemys and grenades you cant use your enviroment good enough to kill some enemys with force etc. Again in force unleashed it was so much better hell even vases only crumble one by one if you force push a bunch of them while in tfu you push everything in front of you and it breaks crumbles into pieces which was very satisfying to watch. Also this game goes for a kind of a Metroid Style which imo sucks very hard. So you have this wall in the game and you see its there for being broken but you just cant because you haven learned force push so you have to complete two more planets to backtrack through the whole planet again to find a different style for your clothing how pointless. i dont understand why this is in the game maybe so stretch the time you can play this game but it just doesnt work for me when you have play through 50% of the game twice.

    Bugs:
This game is sadly sometimes kinda flawed as it could have used some more polishing. Sometimes when you fall of a cliff (when you fall you loose some hp and spawn back up the plattform again which is good so you dont insta die) you spawn right in the middle of the enemys you were fighting so you have no chance for recovery time this will result in an immediate death. Enemys that touch water will immediatley die. Enemys hit you in mid roll almost everytime. Physical bugs that had me flying through the air severeal meters.

    Overall:
What can i say i really want to like this game but in so many places this game feels lackluster and unpolished maybe with a little more time and effort it could have been a good game but in this case its just a solid 50 imho. Its a single player game from EA with no loot boxes thats a nice start but its not enough to make this game a good game

A lot of weak platforming elements in the beginning, but the latter half of the game, where most of the combat happens makes up for it. Great star wars atmosphere

Good game just not as great as one might think. Frustrating platforming and repetitive gameplay is only carried by a solid presentation and enjoyable combat even if it's not as polished and precise as the games or is compared to (sekiro, God of war...)
Little to no sense of progression as most skills are not necessary even if force powers can add variety at the later stage of the game. A

If you get over a slower start without powers, we can assure you, that it will only get better and better. An entertaining mix of Uncharted, Tomb Raider and Dark Souls set in the Star Wars universe. You don’t have to worry; the game is worth its full price. [Issue#300]

As someone with limited time to play games, the shame of Fallen Order stems from multiple frustrations. It’s hard to fight and, worse, it’s hard to move. The game’s timing issues distracted me from both the story and the beautifully constructed worlds; I was too focused on simply staying alive. My many (many, many, many) deaths discouraged me from exploring worlds — all of them beautiful — as did the simple fact that traveling by foot (even a Jedi’s Force-enhanced feet) takes forever.

Respawn has shown us, and EA, that single player games are well enough alive and kicking and has set a bright future for the Star Wars franchise of videogames if they keep this up.
