Dec 7, 2017The lack of narrative hasn't stopped me from pouring hours and hours into Sky Force Reloaded, and I don't doubt I'll put in a great many more—I have to perfect every level on Insane difficulty, after all. This is a game that doesn't do anything new, but it takes a classic genre and delivers on it so well that it's hard to fault the lack of innovation. If you have even the slightest interest in shoot 'em ups, this is a game you don't want to miss.

Nov 29, 2017I’m really surprised just how much I enjoyed Sky Force Reloaded, the first time I loaded it up I was playing it for five hours non-stop and at no point was I bored. Adding grind to a shoot ’em up sounds terrible but it’s a genius idea to counter the shoot ’em up’s traditionally short playtime. By adding the challenges, the act of replaying a level twenty or more times never gets boring. I am now going to bestow on Sky Force the highest honour I can give it: It reminds me of SWIV.

Dec 14, 2017Sky Force Reloaded is a pleasant surprise. It's a slightly repetitive, but always challenging experience that impresses with an unconventional progression system. Fans of Resogun need not doubt.
-
Nov 29, 2017Despite a lot of insane grinding, Sky Force Reloaded is a great porting from mobile to console. If you love shoot 'em ups, you should not miss this game for any reason.
-
Nov 28, 2017Equal parts shoot 'em up and rogue-lite, Sky Force Reloaded feels like a deluxe version of the previous game and that's no bad thing at all but don't expect anything revolutionary this time around.
-
Dec 4, 2017Considering how cheap it is and its quality, we think it's a very good option if you want to play a classic shoot 'em up on modern platforms.
-
Nov 29, 2017Though not hugely different from its prequel, Sky Force Anniversary, Sky Force Reloaded nonetheless offers up a compelling slice of vertical scrolling shoot em’ up action that both newcomers and fans of the genre will undoubtedly enjoy.
-
Dec 22, 2017Sky Force Reloaded is a solid if unremarkable vertical shoot'em up, that capitalizes on the absence of similar titles on both Microsoft and Sony marketplaces. We had fun with it, especially with a friend locally, but that doesn't mean it is perfect. Still, a reasonable choice for fans of the genre.
-
Dec 14, 2017A great port of an excellent mobile game. It may not have the longevity of classics, but it's a hell of a blast while it lasts.
-
Nov 29, 2017A vertical shoot-em-up that does its best to modernise the genre with an upgrade and progression system. It successfully captures the spirit of older games of its ilk, but the perpetual grind may dissuade many players.
-
Nov 29, 2017With a solid progression system that means no defeat has to be too punishing and every attempt gets you a little further, Sky Force Reloaded is a ‘one more try’ shooter. Building up your ship from a pathetic husk to a monstrous killing machine is satisfying and fun, but it’s a slight shame that the game is let down at times by bland environments and all too familiar enemy types.
-
Dec 3, 2017Reloaded is a significant step back from last year's Sky Force Anniversary. The added need to grind is a huge pain although the core gameplay is still generally enjoyable and the upgrade system is just as rewarding.
-
Dec 15, 2017Rescues and level subgoals add a lot of additional meat and challenge, but this is a very simple shmup. There is no interesting key gameplay mechanic, no waves of bullet hell, no fast speeds, and no interesting setting. In a world where Bug Princess is 13 years old, Ikaruga is 16 years old, and 1942 is 33 years old, there is absolutely no reason to play a shmup so basic.
